SCCm 2012 r2 Remote Control setting

hi,
i have SCCM 2012 r2
my question is if there are 2 client policy deployed to 1 pc "member of 2 collection" first policy allow remote full control to IT support and 2nd policy allow remote view control to Domain User.
which one take effect?
i already made the policy and applied it and give specific normal domain user remote control security role to specific collection
but when user try to connect to any PC the remote tool ask him to supply credential.

at first place Thanks for your support and
Patience.
sorry, i did not understand what was in the link you specified.
i know it's device setting not user setting what i need is:
if i have  user1 and user2
i want user1 to have full remote control permission and for user2 i want him to have view only remote control. on same pc which is member at 2 collection "is it possible to do it and how?"

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - remote control port[s] - customize/configure/change?

First, let me start by saying I am aware of
this page that outlines the ports used in SCCM. It has a section called "configurable ports" and another called "non-configurable ports". However, remote control (port 2701) isn't listed under either - its under another section.
Currently, we have another app utilizing the same port[s] that the SCCM remote control piece uses. I want to know if there is any way to configure this to use a different port? Somewhere in the registry perhaps? From what I've read it doesn't sound like
it is changeable but I wanted to confirm in here.
Our other app is configurable, however, it would require us to not only change it on each of the 100 or so Windows servers, but over 900 Unix servers as well that are configured to use the same port. So it will be a little bit of work. The other
option (as I have it set up now) is to just leave remote control disabled.
    Thanks in advance!

Is 2701 the default port for this application or is this just bad luck? If it is the default port would you mind sharing which app this is for our information.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 Remote Control Smart Card Support?

    Hi,
We're currently running SCCM 2012 SP1.  We have implemented mandatory smart card login on our Win 7 workstations using GPO.  Is it correct to say that SCCM's Remote Control Viewer does not support passing of smart card credentials through the session?
Our testing thus far would indicate that it does not.  This is problematic for our help desk that often uses the Remote Viewer to connect to end user machines and then elevate rights to perform admin level tasks.  So far the only way we have developed
to work around it is to run a script that temporarily changes the GPO to remove the smart card enforcement requirement.  Is there a better way to address this issue?
    Thanks
    Josh

Just to add to Wally's comments, there's actually no way this will ever happen without significant investments and development time (if it's possible at all) and it's really not anything that the ConfigMgr product group could implement as it has to with
authentication which is handled by the OS. Passing smart card credentials across the network is inherently flawed and poses a huge security risk. When this was discussed internally at Microsoft, the security teams there said they could easily hack any mechanism
that tried to do this and compromise the credentials.
The recommendation from Microsoft is to use local admin accounts on workstations for elevation. This goes for *any* type of remote control (including remote desktop btw) because the same security weakness exists regardless of the remote tool being used.

  • Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in preview.

Title & Menu Buttons not working correctly on remote control/ set top player but work in encore preview. This only happens for a Blu ray project. When a user presses the menu button it should go to the previous menu they were on but it goes to the main menu. When they press the title button they should go to the main menu but it doesn't do anything. My DVD projects work as expected.I've tried creating a new "test" project with different footage and still get the same undesirable results.
Overrides grayed out and set to "not set" for timelines and menus.Project settings and build are set to blu ray. Also I've noticed when I preview a Bluray project the preview window shows a red colored disc next to the Title button when viewing the timelines and green when playing the menus but not so for a DVD project it displays red if motion menus and or timelines are not rendered/encoded. I'm not using motion menus and all the media is encoded according to the project specs.
I've searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Any help or redirects to a solution would be appreciated. Working with CS5. Thanks.

I found out on my Samsung Blu ray player the remote has a tools button on it that brings up audio, angle, chapter selection etc.and also title selection which is actually the menus and the timelines unfortunately. It's not as easy or direct as last menu selected but it's a workaround at least. I also plan on using a pop up menu. I'll let you know.

  • SCCM Remote Control - Set default to not "scale to fit"

We are using SCCM Remote Control Viewer (CmRcViewer.exe).
By default the view is set to "scale to fit" (with a tick) for every computer you connect to. If you change it to unticked it then reverts back for the next computer you connect to. Is there a way to set the default not to be scale to fit (unticked)?
I have looked through the registry but can't see anything obvious.
    Thanks!

Sounds like a good DCR though which you can file on Connect (connect.microsoft.com) -- anything you file there goes directly into the product team's bug database. That doesn't mean it will get fixed, just that someone will review it and the more justification
you can add, the more likely it will be considered to be addressed in the future.

  • Problems install SCCM 2012 with remote sql 2008 r2 sp2

I am having issues installing sccm 2012 on a remote sql 2008 r2 sp2 server on a seperate instance.
I get the error "The network path was not found"
if i point it at the primary instance it will let me continue but i cannot install sccm into that instance.
I have turned off dynamic ports and set a static port but I do not see where i can enter that in the installer.
I cannot seem to verify is the ssb port is working correctly or not.
my account is local admin on both servers and a sql sysadm.
There is no firewall between servers.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards
    Don

SPN is setup to AUTO register and is working.  remote sql is not a cluster.  Windows firewall on both servers is disabled.  Sql browser is enabled and started.  we have a group for system center that contains site servers and this group
is in the local admin of both servers and sysadm inside of sql server.
Why  we are consolidating all or our lesser sql servers into a larger one.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Remote DP (w PXE): cannot find SCCM installation path nor logs

    Hello All,
    I'm deploying a new SCCM 2012 R2 environment.
I've got 1 primary site with a remote DP with PXE enabled.
The PXE point is working: clients can pxe boot.
However, I can't find the SMSPXE log on the server..
I can't find any SCCM related log for that matter on the server..
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? How can it be that I can't find the logs?
The C:\Program Files doesn't contain a Configuration Manager folder neither.
    Thanks!

  • SCCM 2012: Reinstall remote distribution point?

    Hi,
We have a remote distribution point to which we can't deploy packages anymore. Several attempts to repair it failed.
I'd like to remove the distribution point and reinstall it via SCCM 2012 console.
However, I'd like to know the impact since it contains GB of packages already.
Note: the DP has been removed for clients (temorarely) so no impatc there.
    My questions:
-what is best practises: can I just remove and add it in 1 go (or need to wait before re-adding, reboot needed in between)?
-will all data be pulled in again (I activated pull and would reactivate it after reinstall)?
-what's your experience in this procedure? does it work in general or is it preferrable I continue troubleshooting the current situation?
    Please advise.

I can see there was installed a new dotnet version C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319
    recently.
Can/should I register this to IIS?

  • SCCM 2012 - Slow Remote Tools

    Hi guys,
We are using SCCM12 in a Gigabit LAN environment, and Remote Tools is very slow and "lagged", the mouse cursor dragged slowly over
    the remote workstation.
As seen here and here on
TechNet, no one has a solution to that problem.
By far reading SP1 beta release notes I couldn't find anything related to this issue.
    My thoughts:
As one of the old threads mentioned SCCM
2007 was "based on the Vista RDP collab protocol" (6.0?) so maybe installing the new RDP8.0 protocol might help?
Maybe because SCCM12 authentication based on Kerberos instead of NTLM might cause this decrease of performance? and if so, there is
anyway to change it? is it worth?
any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Gal

Hi Eric, and thanks for your reply.
I have read those posts you replied but I couldn't find any of the optimizations to have any better performance.
it's frustrating that it seems no one else having this issue and MS doesn't really do much about it (in SP1 rls notes there is nothing about it).
in our company we use ONLY RCViewer for remote control.. having a third-party solution is not an option.
    as for your questions,
    - Remote Assistance works PERFECT, no lags at all, but we want to use SCCM RC. (also RDP is great)
    - We are using Win7 Ent x32/x64 both, we have tried to remote from several systems (whole of the helpdesk team is complaining about that, again, comparing to SCCM2007 which they were used to..)
I still hope that someone else who upgraded to SCCM12 had any solution to that...

  • SCCM 2012 Setup error when setting SQL connection info "Network Path Was Not Found"

    Hello.
I'm facing an issue during CCM 2012 SP1 Beta Setup on step "DB INFORMATION"
My lab is set like that:
1x Front-end WS 2012 rtm "CCM Install on it" (Fresh install = no features installed)
    1x Back-end WS 2012 rtm SQL Server 2012 SP1 (I don't know if this is supported).
On the sql Side there is already a first instance with SCVMM 2012 SP1(beta) environment that work well.
A second dedicated instance is ready for CCM install.
Named Pipes enabled , TCP/IP Enabled
Firewall rules for 1433 and 4022 are enabled on the Domain profile ,other profiles are disabled.
Instance Service is running with a domain account
Everything is published in AD (delegations for computer account), Schema Prep already done manually.
I'm Able to resolve dns name of the SQL server on the CCM VM and telnet 4022 + 1433 ports.

    3 Steps are neccessary:
    1. Make sure the Windows Firewall Service on the SQL Server is running and set to automatic
    2. Add the SQL EXE as a Program Exception to the Firewall on the SQL Server:
To add a program exception to the firewall using the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel.
    - On the Exceptions tab of the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel, click
    Add a program.
    - Browse to the location of the instance of SQL Server that you want to allow through the firewall, for example
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.<instance_name>\MSSQL\Binn, select
    sqlservr.exe, and then click Open
    - Click OK.
    From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023.aspx
    3. The last step neccessary, on the SQL Server, is to set File and Printer Sharing "on". When this is off, the following error occurs: "Network Path was not found"

  • Remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

What is the difference between remote control and remote desktop client in sccm 2012 ?

Remote Control is a built-in feature for SCCM 2012 and uses the RPC protocol. When you use this, the user can still be logged on while helping.
Remote Desktop is a buit-in feature for Windows and uses the RDP protcol. When you use it, the user will be logged off.
Why you would use one over the other depends on your requirements.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Client only showing 2 items under Actions

I've enable AD Forest Discovery on Primary Site also checked Automatically create AD site boundaries when they are discovered and Automatically create IP address range boundaries for IP subnets when they are discovered.
I didn't change this (default) Disable AD Forest Discovery on CAS.
I am still running SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 in Production environment. Do I need to remove all the boundaries first on SCCM 2007? Before I could install SCCM 2012 R2 client?
The reason that I manually install SCCM 2012 R2 client to my test computers just want to see if the SCCM 2012 R2 client will install without any issues. Right now, there's :(
On my Client Push Installation Properties, I haven't Enable automatic site-wide push installation. I just don't want SCCM 2012 R2 client is automatically pushing it out. Should I enable this? Is there any effect?
Two nights ago, I manually deploy SCCM 2012 R2 client (right click to deploy SCCM Client) to my test Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise. Until this morning Actions are not fully there (it should be total 11)
SCCM 2012 R2 client (version 5.00.7958.1000) installed but SCEP 2012 is not install (I think there's a problem here) since I checked the Actions button on both of Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise are only showing 2 Actions:
    1. Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
    2. User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
I've checked on both of Win7x64 Enterprise and Win8.1x64 Enterprise logs (using CMTrace):
    1. CcmExec.log -> no errors
    2. LocationServices.log -> Current AD site of machine is Default-First-Site-Name
    3. ClientLocation.log -> It knows my new MP (correct one)

    I have more questions below:
What's the best way for me to approach this SCCM 2012 R2 Client push to a test computers (workstations and servers).
I have SCCM 2007 R3 SP2 is still running in Production, currently Boundaries set as IP subnet (not using AD Site, it used but I changed it 2 years ago).
Now, SCCM 2012 R2 Primary Site set Enable AD Forest Discovery with Automatically create AD & Automatically create IP address range boundaries for IP subnets.
Of course, by turning this option above, it will pick up lots of different IP subnets. Even the one our sister company (lots of different domain).
    1. In SCCM 2012 R2 Boundary Groups, I set Default-First-Site-Name (AD Site), under Site Systems tab, I have also my Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 here.
    Here's the questions:
    1. Do I need to add IP subnet in SCCM 2012 R2 Boundary Groups? Do I need to add let's say 10.xxx.20.xxx (IP subnet here).
    2. Also, do I need to delete IP subnet in SCCM 2007 Boundaries that correspond to that IP subnet? Let's say I have 10.xxx.20.xxx (IP subnet here) and remove this one since I have added on number 1?

  • SCCM 2012 Reporting point server instance blank

I have installed SCCM 2012 With remote SQL database server successfully, at the time of Reporting service point role installation, its verified the SCCm database successfully but SQL server service instance is blank, what would be the reason....
    Below my SCCM architecture:
    1. Created one Database in Remote server SQL server is in failover cluster active passive mode
    2. Configured Reporting services in active mode.
    3. at the time of reporting point role installed failover cluster database name given and its successfully verified with SCCM_123 database.
    4. on the instance name showing blank.
Please help me if anyone facing this type of problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rishi!!
    Regards, Rishi

It is not totally intuitive when installing the Reporting Point role with a cluster.  When installing a Failover Cluster, SSRS can only get put on one node or on its own box, as it uses NLB for scale-out not FoC.  SSRS is also not configured by
default if you use it with a clustered SQL instance, so you have to open SSRS Configuration Tool and make sure the ReportServerDB is created, and that the URLs can be browsed.  Once that is done, then try adding it in CfgMgr:
In CfgMgr, In the Administration workspace, expand Site Configuration, and then click
    Servers and Site System Roles.
Select the node that has SSRS installed on it (not the Failover Cluster virtual computer account).  If SSRS is on its own box, first you have to go to
New site system and add the SSRS box.
Then, on the Home tab, in the Server group, click
Add Site System Role. The Add Site System Roles Wizard opens.  Choose Reporting Point, and after verifying the connection to the CfgMgr DB, the instance name should populate.

  • OSD SCCM 2012 R2: Dart on bitlockered machine

    Hi,
Please advise on implementing dart on SCCM 2012 R2 task sequence on bitlcokered machines.
Have to start from scratch (working task sequence with bitlocker though).

    Hi,
Using Dart as boot image is just like the other boot images. See the steps below to add a Dart into SCCM. Please notice my first post, you need to disable Bitlocker before booting into any PE to do an OSD.

As for the remote issue, what version of OS X are you using?
With the latest version of Mountain Lion 10.8.2 you will find the remote control setting in Preferences/Sharing/Privacy then click the Advanced button at the bottom. Check "Disable remote control infrared receiver" or pair a different Apple remote to prevent the ATV's remote from controlling the computer.
