SCCM 2012 - Remote connection
Hi All,
I need an advice on
1. how many remote control connection can be handled by SCCM server at a time.
2. I am facing an issue in patch download in SCCM server, i have configured the SCCM sup point and i got an error downloading the patches. So we verified the WSUS console and found proxy account is not updated in "Update source and proxy server"
which i added manually as per microsoft suggestion which resolved the issue (We thought it was Mcafee). So i removed MCafee and installed SEP on all the SCCM servers. Even now it seems the "Update source and proxy server" is getting disabled everytime
and only if i enable the proxy server in Update source and proxy server the issue gets resolved. Please advice
Please provide your inputs
Regards, Pratap
Hi,
Did you update the proxy account in the WSUS console?
"So we verified the WSUS console and found proxy account "
If so it will be overwritten by SCCM which "owns" the configuration of WSUS, so you schould change the setting there..

SCCM 2012: remotely connect via powershelll: no psdrive
Hi,
I'd like to connect via powershell to a remote sccm-server.
What I did:
Run powershell x86
enter-PSSession -ComputerName sccm2012 -ConfigurationName Microsoft.PowerShell32
Set execution policy to unrestricted
Import-Module ‘c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin\ConfigurationManager.psd1’
Get-psdrive to see connections (in order to change to sitecode via cd sitecode)
but the site does not appear (connected remotely also via sccm 2012 console and launched "connect via powershell").
Please advise.
J.
Jan HoedtYou need some reg keys for this to work. Those reg keys are normally created by the console when you start it.
$CMSiteCode = "P01" #Your site code
$CMSiteServerFQDN = "sccm2012.domain.tld" #FQDN to your site server
New-Item -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\MRU\1 -Force
New-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\MRU\1 -Name DomainName -Value "" -PropertyType String -Force
New-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\MRU\1 -Name ServerName -Value $CMSiteServerFQDN -PropertyType String -Force
New-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\MRU\1 -Name SiteCode -Value $CMSiteCode -PropertyType String -Force
New-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ConfigMgr10\AdminUI\MRU\1 -Name SiteName -Value "Primary Site $($CMSiteCode)" -PropertyType String -Force
Use the script above before you import the CM-PoSh-Module, I've used it for some of my customers.

SCCM 2012 Remote Control Viewer - Multiple Session
Hello Guys,
We have faced one issue that there have only one session can be connected if we are using the SCCM 2012 remote control viewer. The problem is that we have two support team may require to remote the same desktop in the same time via the remote control viewer.
Do anyone know how we can activate more session for remote control viewer in SCCM 2012?
Thanks,
SCCM usersFYI – If you need to have 2 technicians remoted into the same device, we found a workaround, this works with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3, and Windows 7 clients.
For tech1, using the ConfigMgr console, right-click the device, Start -> Remote Control
For tech2, using the ConfigMgr console, right-click the device, Start -> Remote Assistance -
Sccm 2012- remote access to client
Hi
We have SCCM 2012 and enabled the remote tools to the workstation
I noticed when I used a ccount with local admin I able to access the machine properly
But when I used account "without" local admin account in the computer I'm getting "prompt" to enter user name and password and even I input the account I;m getting still prompt option.
Please advise why the NON/Without "local admin" can't access the machine and pompting a user name and password
The remot tools required local admin ???
although the user have local admin can do ..
RobertWhen I add the "remote control or remote viewer in local administrator of the machine, the thing work smoothly
The only issues are , when the remote viewer is NOT part of local administrator I can't able to remote the machine
addiotinal info for port listening for further troubleshooting
need your help .. is there any relation for the gpo ? because if local admin it work fine

Allowing the domain users Group to SCCM 2012 Remote Control
Hi There,
been working on this issue for the last few days now and its frustrating the crap out of me. My company has requested for all Domain users to be allowed to Remote Control to everyone's computer. This is so that users will be able to show each other how to
use in house application. In SCCM 2012 console, I've added the Domain users to the Premitted viewer tab. I've also added the domain user group to the administrative user section, added the Remote operator role and assigned the
ALL security scope to it. On another machine, i run the CMRCviewer to this machine and it prompts for username advising me the one i provided isn't authorized. when i check on the targeted machine, i can see domain users populated in the ConfigMgr
remote control user group
It seems only domain admins have rights to Remote control in. i've only got one client setting defined (default policy).
the interesting thing is the following layout
WINDOWS XP ---> WINDOWS 7 prompts for username
WINDOWS 7 -----> WINDOWS XP works
WINDOWS XP -----> WINDOWS XP works
WINDOWS 7 ------> WINDOWS 7 prompts for usernameHi Dave,
1) yes domain users is part of the configMgr remote control users". CMRCSERVICE.log shows the following

SCCM 2012 Client (Connection Type: Currently Internet)
Hi
I migrate SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows 2012. (no problem)
I configure OSD to deploy Windows 7 SP1. When i deploy a Windows 7 on computer test, no problem, but a SCCM client on the computer = Connection Type: Currently Internet ???
I try: SMSSITECODE = AUTO, SMSSLP= servername, etc....
I check "boundary", log files
But if not install SCCM client with OSD and after install client manually = no problem.
Do you have any idea?
ThanksI try: SMSSITECODE = AUTO, SMSSLP= servername, etc....
Hi,
SLP has been merged into the Management Point in SCCM 2012.
Are there any useful information in the relevant logs(Smsts.log, client installation logs)? There should be some information about client install properties.

Joyce Li

Issue with KB2830477 and SCCM 2012 Remote Control Viewer
I've just rolled out Feb '13 updates for Windows 7. The update KB2830477 appears to cause
an issue when closing a remote control session using SCCM Remote Control Viewer
(2012).
The following error appears:
"ConfigMgr Remote Control Viewer has Stopped Working"
"A Problem Caused the Program to Stop Workingcorrectly. Please Close the

SCCM 2012 Remote Control - Can't use Mouse
Not sure if there's a setting somewhere or what but this is strange.
When I'm in SCCM and I right Click a PC and choose Start / Remote Control, everything works fine while I'm logging in. I can click in the Username and password fields, click OK to our disclaimer, etc.
However, once I get logged in, the mouse stops functioning and I can only use the keyboard. I can't click to open programs, close programs, or anything else.
Anyone experienced this before and have any idea what the cause might be?
Thanks.Hi,
Have you tried to Remote Control on another client? Still same issue?

Joyce

SCCM 2012 Remote Control - from Queries
Hopefully I can find out what's going on with my query configuration.
I've created some Queries for my Help Desk personnel. When using the default "Last Logged On User" query, It gives me the results for the user's computer, but when right-clicking on the computer the option for "Remote Control" is greyed out.
Resource Explorer and the others are available and work properly, just not Remote Control. However when I view any of the collections, Remote Control works perfectly. For now, my guys are running the queries, recording the computer name, then searching
the collections. Even as a Full Administrator I experience this. Any suggestions or possible items I have not enabled?
Thanks for any info.
Charlie HawkinsSame issue here.
I have completely customized my columns it to add lots of useful information from different class and now EVERYTHING is grayed out.
so I tried all of your suggestions, and some functions did come back. not all. However, now the Queries are useless to me. I need to see the model of the computer, last logon user, last heart beat, install date, OS name that's not a number
but the Caption that says Windows 7 instead of 6.1 that makes sense to the upper management etc.
so, I took the original out of the box query that works perfectly fine and once I added "SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Model" , it broke the query.
I see this as design flaw of Microsoft and reported to be looked at. or am I wrong?
any ideas? -
SCCM 2012: enable powershell execution policy for SCCM 2012 console
Hi,
I always get stuck settings up the remote sccm 2012 powershell (cd psdrive sitecode:). Maybe not a real sccm 2012 question but Powershell but wonder what steps you take to make it work (it works on our production environment, setting up in a lab always gives
me headaches, will defintely write the solution down this time :-)).
Please advise what the steps are in configuring remote powershell for SCCM 2012.
1.my personal account "Myuser" has admin-rights in sccm 2012
2.I can open Powershell logged on to the sccm 2012 server then opening sccm 2012 console, connect via powershell
3.however, when I connect remote to the sccm server, I get the error:
. : File C:\Users\Myuser\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 cannot be loaded. The file C:\Use
rs\MyUser\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 is not digitally signed. You cannot run this scr
ipt on the current system. For more information about running scripts and setting execution policy, see about_Execution
_Policies at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=135170.
4.So I connect to the sccm-server and ask for the execution policy to unrestricted, I get this:
set-executionpolicy unrestricted
[Y] Yes [N] No [S] Suspend [?] Help (default is "Y"): y
Set-ExecutionPolicy : Windows PowerShell updated your execution policy successf
ully, but the setting is overridden by a policy defined at a more specific scope
There is no policy which sets any powershell configs.
Please advise.
J.
Jan HoedtThose client settings are only for the actions performed by the ConfigMgr client. Normal PowerShell actions are restricted to the configured execution policy on the machine.

SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 UPGRADE BROKE REMOTE ADMIN CONSOLE CONNECTIVITY
I installed SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 on my site server but it broke a couple things. I've never had problems with SCCM upgrades before. The admin console works if you log into the site server and run it from there but not when you try it from anywhere else (another
server or a workstation). When you open the admin console on the site server it does have the new version of 5.00.7958.1401. Of the five suggestions that appear when your console won't connect, here's what I know:
1) the remote machines can all ping the site server (call it server 01)
2) we know it's not my account that's a problem as I can open the console on the site server itself
3) This problem happens on server 02, which I put the new admin console on. It also happens with other machines which still have the CU2 console
4) Yes, I'm an admin role, shown by logging into the console on the site server
5) I have another network where everything works. I have not put CU3 on it yet, of course. The WMI permissions on Root, Root\SMS, and Root\SMS\site_ABC are identical on both site servers yet it works on non-upgraded one and not on the upgraded one.
WMI info-I can WMI connect from the site server to these other machines but not WMI connect from the other machines to the site server: not root, SMS, or SMS\site_ABC, nor cimv2, even though the permissions match what is on the working network.
When I launch the console from the site server entries about loading the console loading ok are in SMSAdminUI.log, but when I try to launch the console from other machines no entries are made, even though I changed the SmsAdminSNapIN value to VERBOSE.
I checked DCOM permissions and they are the same on both networks.
Another issue that appeared with this upgrade: I can install the client upgrade to CU3 on other machines but on the site server it fails with "Internal Error 2503" and when you click OK it you get "Internal Error 2502".
Ben JohnsonWYI'd suspected this WMI problem was only affecting our Server 2012 boxes. I compared RSOPs and noticed the ones having this problem were all under the same OU and getting few GPOs. Our GPO person found a GPO that has somehow become unlinked. He relinked
it. After a gpo update AND a reboot these machines start working again. So CU3 did not cause this WMI after all.
And yes, the CU2 consoles won't connect to a CU3 site server, you have to run the console upgrade.
I fixed the "internal error 2503/2502" by doing this: open task manager, click details, end the explorer task (screen will look blank at first). Click File and select "start new task", enter "explorer.exe' and click the run as admin
button. The msp for CU3 client installed and the screen looks normal again. I only saw this error on the site server and have never seen it before.

Required Ports to connect remote SQL named Instance for SCCM 2012 R2
Hi,
I have allowed the TCP 1433,1434,135 and 80 but still unable to connect the remote SQL named instance DB for the SCCM 2012 R2... and getting below error..can you please suggest if any other port required for the same, i have turned off the windows
firewall and RPC service is running ob Remote SQL and SCCM 2012 R2 server..
CCMsetuplog
Shailendra DevDuring the installation you need more ports. You would also need the (dynamic) RPC ports. See for a complete list (section Site Server --> SQL Server):

Problems install SCCM 2012 with remote sql 2008 r2 sp2
I am having issues installing sccm 2012 on a remote sql 2008 r2 sp2 server on a seperate instance.
I get the error "The network path was not found"
if i point it at the primary instance it will let me continue but i cannot install sccm into that instance.
I have turned off dynamic ports and set a static port but I do not see where i can enter that in the installer.
I cannot seem to verify is the ssb port is working correctly or not.
my account is local admin on both servers and a sql sysadm.
There is no firewall between servers.
Any suggestions?
Regards
DonSPN is setup to AUTO register and is working. remote sql is not a cluster. Windows firewall on both servers is disabled. Sql browser is enabled and started. we have a group for system center that contains site servers and this group
is in the local admin of both servers and sysadm inside of sql server.
Why we are consolidating all or our lesser sql servers into a larger one.

Remote reset PIN on Mobile Devices - SCCM 2012 R2 w/ Intune
Hi Forum
I am wondering if this is possible. Can I reset a PIN on a phone (WP, Android, iOS, etc), mainly concerned with WP8 and WP8.1.
I know this is possible through Intune standalone. However, Windows Intune is connected to SCCM 2012 R2 as the authority. Can i reset the PIN remotely on these phones? Does this have anything to do with the Intune Extensions, if so which one?
Thanks in advance
NNQuick thanks first for all the replies.
WP does not support this feature neither with Intune Standalone nor with ConfigMgr.
Only iOS & Android support.

Is this right, I thought an update got released for this in Intune Standalone?
http://blogs.technet.com/b/windowsintune/archive/2014/04/28/availability-of-update-to-windows-intune-for-windows-phone-8-1-and-samsung-knox-standard.aspx?loc=zYFCz&prod=zWIz&tech=zOttechz&prog=zOTprogz&type=zBLz&media=zOTmediaz&country=zUSz
First paragraph states:
"...and the ability to remotely lock or reset a device’s PIN."
Although looking in my console at laptops, EAS managed devices and Intune Managed devices the option does seem to be greyed out???
The process seems to be the same as I thought for ConfigMgr, so thanks for clarifying.
Thanks
NN
