SCCM 2012 SCCMContentLib folder remains empty on DP

I have a few standalone DP's which are not getting the packages distributed to them
I have 74 Secondary Sites, 1 Primary (no CAS), and 12 standalone DP's
All Secondary sites are operating properly and half of the DP's are not getting any packages disributed to them
Within IIS I have noticed the the DataLib, FileLib and PkgLib virtual directories have not been created, I also noticed that the SCCMContentLib folder on the DP remains empty.
I have cross referenced everything I can think of between the functional DP's and the broken DP's and this seems to be the only thing wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything (including IIS), rebooted and still getting nowhere with this.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 and folder SMSPCKSIG??

    Hello!
My question is simple, SCCM 2012 SMSPCKSIG folder contains another folders and no more tar files, is a change in design?
I' ve been looking for any article or doc in internet that explains this change but I don't find anything, please anyone can help me?
    Thanks!!

    This should explain all
As of ConfigMgr 2012, Configuration Manager uses a new feature called Content Library that includes a feature for SIS / Single Instance Store. You can read more about it in the link provided by iainrobins above.

  • Perms to specific reports folder in sccm 2012

Have set up access to certain reports based on security settings in sccm so accounts in specific AD group can access certain sccm reports via ssrs reporting web site.  Utilized the very useful information in the links below.  I have a request for
the group to access the network folder reports, but that means I would have to give RUN REPORT perms to the SITE permission in the security role, as that is the only group that includes the network folder.  I don't want to give them access to the
rest of the stuff it includes, such as client push, client status, replication traffic, etc., as that would just cause confusion among the customer base.  I don't want to give them anymore than they need.  I tried giving the group rights to the individual
reports in the network folder, but the problem is that since there is no access to the folder itself without doing the above, they can't get to the reports.  I could give them rights to the folder via SSRS but then SCCM would just overwrite that 15 minutes
later.  Does anyone have any suggestions on this one?  Thanks.  : )
    http://skamie.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/ssrs-and-uac/
    http://blog.coretech.dk/kea/creating-the-reporting-user-role-in-configmgr-2012/
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmanagergeneral/thread/8525cfa6-aaa4-4d34-a296-a9a8cb76e5a3/

I'm not concerned about giving them more rights, I'm concerned about giving them access to reports that they don't need access to, otherwise there would be widespread confusion and misunderstanding.  This, in turn, would generate anxiety-based
calls to the support desks, that I would like to avoid.  I'm not trying to hide anything from them, I just don't want to cause undue worry and confusion.  Make sense?
So don't give them access to reports that you don't want them to have. Here is a blog that will tell you how to grant access to one report.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Empty Query in Collection

Now, I just discovered yesterday where I created Collection with query but resulted NONE. I know there's no problem with the query itself because I created the same one within the query itself and it give me the result.
Here's another problem with my CAS & Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 with CU1:
    1. Created X64 (Servers & Workstations) Collection with membership rules:
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.SystemType = "x64-based PC"
It doesn't give me anything (blank no computer names) even after I refresh the collection.
BUT, when I created under \Monitoring\Overview\Queries\Results for X64 (Servers & Workstations)
I could see the result of it.
Is it my SQL has problem? I'm using SQL 2012 SP1.
I even updated with CU2 now in Production but it still the same thing. I have no problem with this query above in my test environment.
Have you come across with this issue? Thanks, Reza
    Reza Prawirasatya

You might have used a empty limiting collection

  • Control SMSPKG Folder creation in a Particular Partition - SCCM 2012

    Hi Team,
In SCCM 2012 SP1 environment I have the following hierarchy :
    1 CAS
    2 Primary
    5 Secondary under each Primary
    Secondary Server has 3 partitions C ( 100 GB ), D ( 50 GB ) and E ( 500 GB ).
    C has the OS
D has the SCCM installed + SQL Express
E has the Software Content Library, Patches, SCCM backup etc....
Now when the SCCM Secondary server was installed, During the DP role installation, I chose E drive for Software Lib and package share ( Primary option ) and Secondary as Automatic in both the cases. Based on this configuration, Software Lib and package share
( SMSPKGE$ ) got created in E Drive as expected. But SMSPKG folder got created in D Drive which we do not want.
Now whenever we distribute big package e.g 15GB OS image to Secondary server DPs, it uses D drive SMSPKG folder for the PCK file and fails due to insufficient space in D Drive.
What we want is....... that SMSPKG folder should be created and used on E drive which has ample space and should not use SMSPKG folder on D Drive.
Please let me know if you need any further details in this regard.
Thanks in Advance for your help
    Mike

    Hi Jorgen,
    Thanks for your reply.
That stage has gone as the installation was done 1 month back without
NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS file at that time and now we are facing this space issue. Also, I have already tried below options with NO Success :
    1.  Remove DP role from Secondary server, created NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS file and then again created the DP role back. When the package was pushed to Secondary server DP, it again created and  SMSPKG
folder in D drive, ignoring the .SMS file.
    2. With DP role in-place,  created NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS file and again pushed the package. Same result as above..... used the SMSPKG folder on D
    Drive, ignoring the .SMS file.
    3. Under the Windows shares, removed SMS_CPSC$ share mapped to C:\SMSPKG and created SMS_CPSD$ share with same permission level and mapped that to newly created D:\SMSPKG, but no fun... when I pushed the package, it again created SMS_CPSC$ share mapped
    to C:\SMSPKG and used it.
    4. Used Contentlibrarytransfer.exe ( available in R2 toolkit ) to move the SMSPKG folder to E Drive.... it did but when I pushed a package again..... it created SMSPKG folder in D drive and started using it.
    5. Under the Windows shares, used the same SMS_CPSC$ share and mapped that to D:\SMSPKG , but no fun... when I pushed the package, it replacedD:\SMSPKG to C:\SMSPKG and used it.
In SCCM 2007 we used to have a very simple option to specify the Drive letter where we want to keep the compressed files.... which I see missing in SCCM 2012....or I'm not able to find it.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hello gurus
I want to ask a quick question. Does anyone know if I can do folder redirection, offline folders, roaming profiles and network drive on Windows 7 using SCCM 2012 R2?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

The setting does not apply to Windows 7. I tested and DCMagent just thought it is Non-applicable.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Disaster Recovery and the SCCMContentLib

    Hello all...
Starting to update our DR recovery strategy to separate servers for SCCM 2012 R2, and I am wondering if there is anything special that needs to be considered when "replicating" the SCCMContentLib from one server to another server?
Is simply copying over the folders/files enough (via RoboCopy or another tool)?  Besides the folders/files is there something else that needs to be copied that maps the Content Library so its functional on a different server?
    Any insight/tips/tricks are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance

If the command-line you gave ConfigMgr runs successfully, there's not anything else ConfigMgr can do. Thus the logs above don't add any value. Thus, the issue lies with the MSI. Where did you get it from? Have you tried running it with the /l*v command-line
option to add verbose logging and then reviewed this log file? Have you tried manually testing using the System account (done using psexec) to more closely emulate how ConfigMgr invokes the command-line?

  • Boot\BCD error - SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
This is a last ditch attempt before I throw in the towel and rebuild the server.
I am running an SCCM 2012 R2 Hierarchy with two primaries and multiple distribution points.
One of our main DPs has started coming up with an error when pxe booting a windows 7 machine. This happened after a corrupt driver was added to the boot image. The driver was removed and all the DP's rolled back but the issue still remains on this server
alone. We use an IPhelper to point the pxe requests at this server.
    The error message is:
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000098
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Removing the PXE role and reapplying it.
    2. Removing the Boot images and reapplying them.
    3. Removing the DP altogether from the console and reapplying.
    4. Removing all data from the DP and starting again.
    5. Redistributing the boot images. both x86 and x64
    6. creating a new boot image for both x86 and x64 and applying those.
    smspxe log is as follows

    Hello,
Is your WDS running properly? If WDS is stopped, can you start it manually?
Or you get an error like 'The service did not respond in a timely fashion'?
The symptom is so similar to that I have encountered. You referred that you have tried to remove WDS, DP, but I wonder how. Before removing WDS and DP role, try to delete corrupt package in SCCMContentLib folder.
I just recreated SCCMContentLib, and WDS did start working. I guess there are corrupt packages in the my folder as well. But another problem occur, I installed all the roles on the same server in my lab, so it is a primary site server as well. As a result,
it seems that I have to re-deploy all the packages. Not sure if there is any further problem yet. Since it is just a lab environment, it doesn't matter for me.
I hope what I have done will give you some clue.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 MDT task sequence fails on reboot does not retain ip

we are having a sccm 2012 sp1 server that used for installation of win 8.1 Enterprise , the task sequence works perfectly fine but when we  run the same task on HP Elite 8300 system having Intel 82579LM Adapter from Windows XP , after the reboot the
task fails as no ip address is assigned the NIC , We did download the WInPE Adapter drivers from HP site and injecting to the x86 Boot Image (6.2.9200) however the task still fails ,
Our environment uses all static ip address , the same task as mentioned earlier has worked fine with Different brands of HP elite 8200/8100 , infact the elite 8200 also uses the same NIC card

    Awating response,
    Hasan Reza

Well Finally I sorted my issue ,
Just want to share the solution, may be it would be helpful to some one else and save some times
The problem was that the Xp images has lot of hidden NIC installed , this would not allow the system to work with the correct NIC card and Ip address (System -> View Hidden Devices) , what I did 2 things
    1) Copied the OSD Script folder from the SCCM Server to the Client pc and ran that ztigather.wsf and captured the output , it was evident that it showed capturing multiple adapters , (There are some blogs that pointed out that OSD can capture only one nic
due to the only one Adapter0 section being defined in the ZTIgather.xml file,)
    2) I open the registry at the xp pc navigated to HKLM-> System ->Current Control Set-> Services-> TCPIP -> Parameters-> Interfaces ->
Expect for the NIC card that had the Ip address assigned I deleted all other nic card's guid,
As then post running deleting the old scanstate (USMTUTIL /rd c:\statestore) , reran the task and VOILA..
All worked fine , below are the two post I followed , though notvery relevant but they were helpful and help me reached the conclusion.
    Thanks,
    Hasan Reza.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - No Response from WDS server

    We upgraded our SCCM 2012 sp1 servers to R2 and have we are now receiving the following error on our remote PXE enabled DP;
    Have performed the usual processes;
    Removed the PXE enabled DP
    Uninstalled the WDS service
    Rebooted server
Deployed the PXE-DP from the site server (letting the site server also install WDS)
Checked the WDS service start OK
Distributed the Boot images to the PXE-DP
Checked the content status has succeeded
Checked that the PXE booting clients are looking at the correct server IP
    Checked the smsdpprov.log:

  • Procedure performing a "Retry Secondary Site" Operation in SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary Server

    Dear Brother,
My SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary Site Server, unfortunately crashed and required to be restored, doing this I end up performing a "Retry Secondary Site Operation.
One by one I am clearing out the errors but there are few remaining errors on the prerequisite checks:
1.[Failed]:The logon account for the SQL Server service cannot be a local user account, NT SERVICE\<sql service name> or LOCAL SERVICE.  You must configure the SQL Server service to use a valid domain account, NETWORK SERVICE, or LOCAL SYSTEM.
Actions Done: SQL Related Services use Logon As Domain Account "Microsoft-Domain\BillAdmin" , but still the above message still appears in the logs.
    Actions Done: None
2.[Failed]:The collation of the site database does not match the collation of the parent site's database.  All sites in a hierarchy must use the same database collation.
3.[Failed]:The site server might be unable to publish to Active Directory. The computer account for the site server must have Full Control permissions to the System Management container in its Active Directory domain. You can ignore this warning if you have
manually verified these permissions. For more information about your options to configure required permissions, see
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=233190.
Actions Done: None, as this machine is previously a working Secondary site for 1 Year already. So I do not suspect anything from the current related configuration.
4.[Failed]: Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance selected for site database installation, or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions.
    Setup cannot continue.
Action Taken:  Domain Account "Microsoft-Domain\BillAdmin" has a
Sysadmin roles and actually all the check boxes are chosen to acquire all SQL account roles"
    5. [Failed]:Prerequisite checks complete with failure - check ConfigMgrPrereq.log
in the root of the primary site server system drive.
6[Failed]:Unable to complete secondary site server installation - check ConfigMgrSetup.log in the root of the secondary site server system drive.

  • SCCM 2012 says content distributed, but the folders are missing in my DP

    SCCM 2012 SP1 Update 4
I've been adding updates and creating new applications and all looked ok.  I distributed them to my 7 distribution points, and the stats shows the content was distributed.  However, if I look on the DP hard drive for the folders, they are not there.
Deployments are failing saying they cant find files.
Any thoughts? I cant find anything through Google (sorry Bing ;) )..
    Thanks!!!
    Joel

CM 2012 content library is different fr0m SMSPKGE$ folder. Check for SCCMContentLib folder. Also check the status of content distribution from CM12 console - Monitoring - Content Status Node

  • SCCM 2012 DP Migration

    Hi Team,
I have 2007 secondary site installed DP and all the package are available.
    Q.
1.What are the folders are using at the time of sccm 2012 migration.
2.I seen SMSDPpro.log in DP share and found it importing package.. where it getting package from (don't have PCK file in the local server)?
    3. After all the successful of import the very next day i saw in console it showing 65 success and 120 in progress.
When I count the SMSDPProv.log more 150 packages are imported successfully. Why my console giving wrong info.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
1.What are the folders are using at the time of sccm 2012 migration.
Sorry that I didn't get the point of this question. Do you mean which folder are used on sccm 2012 to copy the content of SCCM 2007 DP packages?
2.I seen SMSDPpro.log in DP share and found it importing package.. where it getting package from (don't have PCK file in the local server)?
The package content is SCCM 2007 flowchart is:
    1. When you add a package to a standard Distribution Point, the distmgr component is notified with the packageID.PKN in inboxes\distmgr.box.
    2. The distmgr component begins the processing of the package
    3. Distmgr establishes a connection to the DP and checks for the SMSPKGdriveletter$ share.
    4. It creates a subdirectory with the package ID in the SMSPKGC$ share.
    5. Distmgr connects to the packageID folder it created and checks if the drive has the enough free space to copy the package contents:
    6. Distmgr sets the security on the
\SMSPKGC$\<PkgID">\\<DP>\SMSPKGC$\<PkgID> folder and copies the package contents to that folder from the package source. It also copies the signature file (TAR file) to the SMSSIG$ share and sets the security on that folder:
    7. Distmgr runs the SQL query to update the status in the pkgstatus table in SQL.

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/hhoy/archive/2012/05/31/an-adventure-in-the-sccmcontentlib-single-instance-store.aspx
In SCCM 2012 or later, by default, the content is single storage and browsing to a DP does not store all the files in a package id folder where you could find an install and execute it.

    3. After all the successful of import the very next day i saw in console it showing 65 success and 120 in progress.
Refresh the status and close the SCCM console, reopen and see if this helps. If you are using SCCM 2012 Sp1, check this KB
