SCCM 2012 source content gets deleted

I have been using SCCM 2012 for over a year now and have jsut noticed that all of the content in my original source folders has been deleted. I am trying to redistribute this missing content with no luck, mainly because it doesnt exist anymore.
I have two questions.
1. How do I change the cleanup of the source content folder
2. How do I re-download software updates to redistribute once the source content gets deleted.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Perhaps it was this:

    SCCM 2012 SP1 Update 4
I've been adding updates and creating new applications and all looked ok.  I distributed them to my 7 distribution points, and the stats shows the content was distributed.  However, if I look on the DP hard drive for the folders, they are not there.
Deployments are failing saying they cant find files.
Any thoughts? I cant find anything through Google (sorry Bing ;) )..
    Thanks!!!

CM 2012 content library is different fr0m SMSPKGE$ folder. Check for SCCMContentLib folder. Also check the status of content distribution from CM12 console - Monitoring - Content Status Node

  • How to enable SCCM 2012 clients to get Windows Updates through SSL VPN

I would like my SCCM 2012 client laptops to get Windows Updates through SSL VPN.
I suppose I need to add VPN Subnet in my boundary and boundary group.
What other setting I need to enable?
At this moment, on the 'Software Update Point Component Properties' "Allow intranet-only client connections" radio button is active. Do I neeed to select "Allow both intranet and internet client connections" and Enable SSL communications
    for the WSUS server?
or are there something else I need to check?

No, a VPN client is no different than a client connected internally as far as the network is concerned and as far as ConfigMgr is concerned there is no way to explicitly know any different. Internet clients literally are those that connect via the Internet
    using IBCM.

  • Stored Procedure Contents Getting Deleted Randomly

Has anyone had any experience with the contents of a stored procedure getting deleted?  The object is still visible in object explorer, but when you go to modify the contents it is empty.
I just started at a new place and trying to clean up and improve their environment.  It was brought to my attention that a certain report that was being ran should have returned some results, but instead
was just returning a blank report.  While researching the problem, I backtracked to the stored procedure on the server and discovered that the definition of that object was completely blank.  Had to go back to a restore to get the definition.
This is at least the second time this quarter, but a different procedure.  What could be causing this?

  • SCCM 2012 Slow Content Download package deployment

I installed SCCM 2012 R2. clients are downloading packages extremely slow. The same package was downloading in 10 mins taking more than 1.5 hour to download. That might be the misconfgiuration ?

  • SCCM 2012 Clients not getting applications...

    Hi
we have windows 7 clients getting applications deployments through SCCM 2012.
it was working fine...suddenly couple of clients on the particular collection not getting the applications and nothing is displayed on the software center.
verified the Site connections and re-pushed the policyes manually through config manager.  restarted sms host agent service...still nothing is working out
getting "Policy does not yet exist on the client" in execmgr.log & CAS.log
where could be the issue? please help
    thanks
    ananth

I realize that this is an old forum post but in my search to resolve a similar policy application issue I stumbled across it and noticed that anan2k's last question wasn't answered (and I can help). First of all you can check the custom client/user configuration
in the Administration Node. By default SCCM creates a Default Client Settings and sets a priority of 10,000 though this is not deployed by default.
The policy polling interval is actually configured as one of the policies. When you create and deploy a custom client device policy you can select Client Policy as one of the custom settings and within this setting you can establish the policy polling schedule.
I have mine set to 30 minutes which may be a bit high but it generally worked for my environment.
I hope this helps a little bit though I imagine by now that you found the settings or resolved your issue. If you found a solution please post it as I am plagued by policy not applying to my clients.
    Thanks again,

  • SCCM 2012 PowerShell script gets progressively slower with each machine added to a collection

Firstly, I hope this question firs in this forum.
I have a PowerShell script that I created the imports a CSV file and adds the machine names to a collection as a direct membership. There are 5000 machines total in the list. When the script first starts, the average per machine is just a few tenths of a
second. Once it reaches about 10% the average is up to almost 4 seconds and that time is getting larger with each machine. I tried using the CMDLets for SCCM but they were even slower than the WMI seemed to be.
What is the reason for this increase?
Is there anything I can do to not have this happen?
    My script:
    $ErrorActionPreference= 'continue'
    $FilesInFolder = Get-ChildItem $PSScriptRoot
    $CSVFiles = $FilesInFolder | where {$_.extension -eq ".csv"}
    $SiteCode = "US1"
    Function AddToCollection-WithWMI
    ForEach ($File in $CSVFiles)
    $CollectionStart = Get-Date
    $CollectionName = $File.Name.TrimEnd(".csv")
    $PClist = Import-CSV $File.FullName
    Write-Host "Populating Collection: " $CollectionName
    $i = 1
    $PCRollingTime = New-Object System.TimeSpan
    ForEach($PC in $PClist)
    $PCStart = Get-Date
    $ResourceName = $PC.SerialNumber
    Write-Host $i "of" $PClist.Count
    $ResourceQuery = Get-WmiObject -Namespace "Root\SMS\Site_US1" -Class SMS_R_SYSTEM -Filter "Name = '$ResourceName'"
    $CollectionQuery = Get-WmiObject -Namespace "Root\SMS\Site_US1" -Class SMS_Collection -Filter "Name = '$CollectionName' and CollectionType='2'"
    $CollectionQuery.Get()
    IF($ResourceQuery -ne $null)
    #Create new direct membership rule
    $NewRule = ([WMIClass]"\\Localhost\root\SMS\Site_US1:SMS_CollectionRuleDirect").CreateInstance()
    $NewRule.ResourceClassName = "SMS_R_System"
    $NewRule.ResourceID = $ResourceQuery.ResourceID
    $NewRule.Rulename = $ResourceQuery.Name
    #Commit changes
    $CollectionQuery.CollectionRules += $NewRule.psobject.baseobject
    $CollectionQuery.Put() | Out-Null
    $NewRule = $null
    ELSE

    $CollectionQuery = $null
    $ResourceQuery = $null
    $PCFinish = Get-Date
    $TimeSpan = New-TimeSpan -Start $PCStart -End $PCFinish
    $PCRollingTime = $TimeSpan + $PCRollingTime
    If(($i % 25) -eq 0)
    $CurrentAvgPerPC = $PCRollingTime.TotalSeconds / $i
Write-Host "The current average is" $CurrentAvgPerPC "seconds."
    $SecondsToETA = ($CurrentAvgPerPC * ($PClist.Count - $i))
    $ETA = Get-Date
    $ETA = $ETA.AddSeconds($SecondsToETA)
Write-Host "The Estimated time of complete is" $ETA
    If(($i % 250) -eq 0)
    $PCRollingTime
    $i++
    $CollectionQuery = Get-WmiObject -Namespace "Root\SMS\Site_US1" -Class SMS_Collection -Filter "Name = '$CollectionName' and CollectionType='2'"
    $CollectionQuery.Get()
    #Initiate the collection evaluator
    $CollectionQuery.RequestRefresh()
    $CollectionFinish = Get-Date
    AddToCollection-WithWMI

I haven't checked the complete code, but it doesn't look very efficient. For example I would take the collection query out the loop for all the pcs, simply because it's always the same and would save you about 4999 queries.

    ^^ This
Additionally, you could likely replace most of the WMI calls you do with the built in SCCM PowerShell cmdlets.  The two lines below will check to see if a Device Object for a specific PC exists and if it does, adds it to your collection
    $PCID = Get-CMDevice -Name $PC.SerialNumber
    if ($PCID -ne $null) {
    Add-CMDeviceCollectionDirectMembershipRule -CollectionName $CollectionName -ResourceId $PCID
If you want to check to see if the collection exists before trying to add devices to it, you can use the Get-CMDeviceCollection cmdlet.
    Get-CMDeviceCollection -Name $CollectionName
    Moo.

I have one particular client that will not pull down patches from the site server. The ccmcache folder stays empty, nothing appears in Software Center, report Compliance 5 - Specific Computer says it needs 4 patchs and that they are approved (other computers

  • ConfigMgr 2012 Update Source content deleted

    Greetings,
I am experiencing a problem that is appears to be the same as the old thread here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bee18ffb-f779-4aa4-900d-046e7711424c/sccm-2012-source-content-gets-deleted?forum=configmanagergeneral
Rather than revive an old post, I thought it best to start my own.
We have a rather large environment (CAS +5 Primaries + Many DP's) and we are currently adding several new remote DP's each week. Each time a new DP is added it is placed in a Distribution Group and the "core" package content is sent
    to it.
I have a problem where my Windows Update Packages keep failing due to content disappearing from the source folder location. This started some time ago, and is now becoming a regular event to correct. Not every day, but once a week or so.
The Update group has the updates all showing as "downloaded"
I have a report query that matches the updates to the "GUID" subfolder so I know all the content is there
I distribute the content from the CAS. Distrmgr.log shows all is good. Packagemgr.log on the Primaries show all is good
Client have been installing the updates as expected so the deployment does work
Days/weeks later, ALL the DP's will show as "failed" for that update package. Checking the distmgr.log shows that it is failing to distribute due to a missing source folder. I use my query to work out which update that subfolder GUID belongs to,
but it is already flagged as downloaded, and when trying to download it again CM just "skips" it thinking it already has the content in that package.
The "fix" is to download the same update to a new package instead. CM then does a proper check, realises it doesn't have the content and will download the update to the new package source location. I can then copy the missing GUID subfolder
from the new package into the original package and try the distribution again.
The problem now is that there are usually many folders missing, so distmgr.log will fail again on the next missing folder. Because it stops at the first error, repeating the above process is incredibly tedious when there are a lot of missing folders.
My current "solution" is to select ALL the updates that should be in the current package and download them all to a "Temp package" that isn't deployed or distributed anywhere. Then in future when the main deployment package fails, I just
"select all, copy" the contents of the temp folder into the original folder (skip duplicates) and it puts back all the missing content and distribution will work again.
We are not using ADR's for this content, although I do have an ADR for the Endpoint updates which go into a completely different distribution package.
*Something* is cleaning up or purging these folders from the source location, but I have no idea what process or mechanism this might be.
Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.
    Scott.

I've found the cause, blog post write here:
    http://kickthatcomputer.wordpress.com/2014/10/11/configuration-manager-update-source-content-being-deleted/
Microsoft was working with me trying to identify what was deleting the folders, however nothing was appearing as the cause.
I just realised this morning that I had used the built-in CM12 Migration function some time back to migrate update packages and groups over to our second hierarchy but hadn't updated any of the migrated content since then. The migrated packages on the second
hierarchy still point to the same source location and so whenever my original hierarchy added content to the update packages, the second hierarchy would delete it because it though it was "orphaned" content.
This is something people will have to watch out for when using the migration wizard as the same type of issues will impact things like WIM boot image packages as well where the source content can be manipulated directly by the CM12 system on one hierarchy
without the other one being aware of that change.
At the moment the options are to either
Make sure you run a "migrate changes" job whenever you make changes to updates on your source hierarchy to keep them in sync
Manually make a copy of the source content to a different folder or location, then update the package source location on the migrated packages to point to that new content (undesirable for massively large content)
Create a scripted method to schedule regular migration jobs between the hierarchies (looking into this option now)

we are deploying the SP1 via SCCM 2012 , and the success rate is around 50 %, its a Light touch installation where user will initiate the installation via Software Center ( Web based )
i was able to gather few errors , and this are the errors which failed during SP1 Installation 0x800f0828,
some errors which sccm reports display are
    11171
    10008
    10021-
    17031 -
    1602 - User Cancelled installation
113 - No more internal file identifiers available

    10050 - A socket operation encountered a dead network
11170  - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence
i could not find the reason for some of the errors, also i am looking for a fix/woraround if any
Also i have noticed that in few computers the task seq failed at a place where after the sp1 installation a reboot happens and then PGP BYPASS utility is uninstalled, it did not start the PGP bypass uninstall after reboot
is there a way to cut short the Task seq and keep it simple ?
    right now its like this
    1. checking for prerequisite : checks for OS Name and OS version
    2. installs PGP Bootgaurd Bypass

    4. Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1

  • How can I remove the SCCM 2012 client and reinstall SCCM 2007 client on all of our computers

    Hello All
We have  bit of a problem. Our virtual SCCM 2012 r2 server was deleted and the back solution we had in place keeps failing.
We do have our sccm 2007 server still in place but its only role was imaging as we transferred roles from one to another.
My question is now our support needs to remote into pcs but cant because the CM12 server is gone. How can I remove the 2012 client from all of our companies computers and reinstall the CM07 client so we can remote into computers again.
    Thanks in advance!
    Phil
    Phil Balderos

Run a ccmsetup /uninstall on the clients. You may need to run via PSExec. Then push out the SCCM 2007 client via the 2k7 console.
    Cheers
    Paul | sccmentor.wordpress.com
    Thanks Paul!
I have to do this on over 350 computers and 110 servers. How can I do it on a more massive scale?
    Phil Balderos
I would check Torsten's approach first and see if the ccmsetup will uninstall the 2012 version. I'm not sure. Obviously the other way round is fine.
Using PSexec you can script this to call up a txt file of all your servers/computers and run the uninstall.
    e.g.
    for /f "tokens=*" %a in (computers.txt) do psexec \\%a %WINDIR%\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe /uninstall
If your account has privileges on all devices you won't need to add in any username/password credentials. Obviously only devices that are switched on and you have access to will run this.
    Cheers

    Hi,
When trying to "Connect via Windows Powershell" in the SCCM 2012 console, I get the message that Powershell 3.0 is not installed... (which actually isn't installed, we have PS4.0 installed). Do we need to install PS3.0 also to get it working

  • Reports not working after upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2 -

I have removed the Reporting Services Point and reinstalled it with no effect.  All reports I try get the error listed above.
    Any suggestions?

The issue has been resolved.  For anyone experiencing a similar issue I will post the fix that worked for us below:
I ended up opening a PSS case and in this instance the problem was the required SQL management provider was not properly registered in WMI, which ultimately meant the reporting point upgrade/install was not able to complete successfully after the upgrade.
As a result the updated reports were not properly being redeployed to the Reporting Service Point.
To diagnose this on the Reporting Service Point look in the srsrp.log for entries indicating of an
Invalid Class, as seen in the example below:

The important part is the lines saying Invalid Class and then it timing out, so the RP installation was not completed.
As mentioned earlier the WMI class that was missing or corrupt was the SQL management Provider.  To re-register the class we need to compile the MOF file that is available in SQL.  In our instance the command to run was:
    mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
Once that was done, monitoring the srsrp.log shows that it could properly detect the SSRS service, stop it and start coping the updated reports and such.  After a few minutes the deploy completed, and all the broken reports started working
    correctly.
    Hope that helps someone else.
