Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation sccm 2012 sql 2012
Hi,
I'm trying to install System Center 2012 SP1 Primary Site, I' ve selected Install the primary site as a stand-alone Site option, after I completed Database Information page in Installation Wizard and clic next, i get this error message
"Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation".
I have a SQL 2012 SP1 Ent Cluster (2 nodes, Windows Server 2012), the installation account is local administrator in both nodes, and sysadmin in SQL Instance. Firewall Service is disable in all servers.
I tested connecting remote WMI from Primary Site Server to both SQL Server Nodes and the conectionn was succesfully. I created a udl file to test SQL conection and also was succesfully.
I'm not using CAS.
Any Help?
Thanks.HI,
The problem was an issue with the Cluster network name resource.
Cluster network name resource 'SQL Network Name (Name)' failed registration of one or
more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason:
The
handle is invalid
After fix this error on SLQ Cluster nodes, the Database Information page passed successfully

Sql 2012 server for SCCM 2012 - Agent not starting
Hi ,
In our environment we have a Sql 2012, and it was working fine till now. but after installation of RDP role and subsequent installation of certificates for remote desktop in the SCCM server ( SQL 2012 is
installed in it)
we are facing the issue - Sql server management studio not connecting ( windows authenticaltion)
1) A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)A
2) I tried starting the sql agent service in services.msc and the below error came
The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped.
Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
3) In the Sql Server configuration manager also tried starting the sql agent but
The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
Consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details.
The widows event logs show this error
A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection.
The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 20. The Windows SChannel error state is 960.
We have removed the certificate and the RDP role in that .
Can anyone please help on this
Anand MI would check for error messages in the SQL Server ERROLOG file and also Agent's SQLAGENT.OUT file.

Proper WSUS+SCUP on SCCM 2012 SP1 with SQL 2012
Been pulling my hair out a new build.
System:
Windows 2012
SQL 2012 SP1
WSUS 4.0
SCUP 2011
WSUS itself will synch if I set source= Microsoft Update.
SCCM SUP will synch with if I set source= Microsoft update.
SCUP will not connect to "update server" in this config.
SCUP will not connect if I check connect to local update server. Nor will it when i try to connect to itself as a remote (ie local host or fqdn in Update server screen)
Now whats weird is if I throw a proxy on my spare machine and aim WSUS and SCUP to use it try SUP to FQDNof SCCM host:8530....I can connect
The problem is with the proxy in play I cannot download Dell catalogs as it used FTP not HTTP (Adobe will download though)
Every so often just for fun it will throw "request for principal permission failed.
Anyone that has this working can you please tell me what you have on each of the SUp. WSUS and SCUP screensTry running SCUP as administrator. This is usually necessary when SCUP is installed on the ConfigMgr/WSUS server and UAC is enabled. heres a guide that may help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyEGWSFWyy0 using Group Policy is the easiest wat to deploy
the certificates as well.

Reports not Generated after moving SCCM 2012 SP1 DB on SQL 2012 SP1 cluster
Hi all,
i have moved my SCCM 2012 SP1 DB on SQL 2012 SP1 Failover Cluster, this cluster is a two node cluster.the DB was moved fine and the DB configuration in SCCM Site maintenance was also done successfully. After the migration process,SCCM was working fine created
few collections & packages, then checked the DB on cluster & they were updated successfully.
but when i tried to install report server on my SCCM machine, again there was no instance displayed after entering the cluster name.
I searched this & come across this post :-
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmanagergeneral/thread/4479e73e-8a19-4c7e-9418-b36770656b9b/
which says to install report server on the cluster node machine which is currently running the Reporting Service.I tried to install the report server & the instance was detected this time.it was installed successfully.
But when i tried to generate reports I got this error :-
Permissions are fine as i have added SCCMadmin & sccm machine in the local admin of both the nodes.
Please Help.
Thanks,
Pranay.Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
If you look at your second screenshot the Remote errors is not enabled. Use this blog to enable them.
http://www.enhansoft.com/blog/enabling-remote-errors-in-sql
If changing the data source on the report fixed it for a single report. It means that your shared Datasource is having problems. Reset the username and password within CM12 console and this should fix it for every report.

SQL 2012 Enterprise SP1 installation for SCCM 2012 R2
I am just starting to install SQL 2012 with SP1 Enterprise for SCCM 2012 R2.
Does anyone have a step by step guide for this install please
I am planning to install SQL 2012 with SP1 Enterprise as a physical install which I intend to geo cluster later on
Also I am thinking of installing WSUS on a separate server and get my SCCM 2012 servers (1 primary and 3 secondary) to use this server - would appreciate some help on how this can be setup as wellThat doesn't make sense to me. Both versions are fully supported on virtual and physical platforms.
Also, I'm with Garth - local SQL all the way.
Here are my thoughts on the subject
http://www.gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/10/configmgr-sql-some-tips.html
ConfigMgr is not a real-time product like Exchange, for example. A certain amount of downtime can be tolerated. I would spend more time implementing a robust backup solution, rather than trying to implement high availability.
You should be able to recover a ConfigMgr site from SQL backup in a couple of hours.

SCCM 2007 database move from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012 SP1
Hi,
today we tried with moving the sccm DB from our SQL 2008 to SQL 2012. The whole DB process was a success but what bugs me is the reporting services which we also have.
Does the reporting service make automatic transition to the box or do i have to configure separately if yes how?
Also how do we retire the DB on the old server?
Thank you,This would be manual process. The simplest way to fix them is to reinstall the reporting point.

After Upgraded to SQL 2012 Iam getting several Errors in SCCM 2007
After I upgrade my sql 2008 to sql 2012, I am getting several errors in SCCM 2007.Please find the below screen short
Configmgr reporting service point - Critical
SMS-Collection-Evaluator -critical
SmS-dstribution Manager -Critical
SMS-SRS reporting point -critical
SMS-Discovery Data manager -critical
SMS-Status Manager -critical
SMS policy Manager -critical
How can I resolve this issue.I updated the path still I have the same problem...several error message found in SCCM server.please find the below one error message
On 7/21/2013 10:51:16 AM, component SMS_DISCOVERY_DATA_MANAGER on computer DCD-SCCM reported: SMS Discovery Data Manager failed to process the discovery data record (DDR) "", because it cannot update the data source.
Possible cause: On a Primary site, it is probably a SQL Server problem.
Solution:
1. Review the immediately preceding status messages from this component about SQL Server errors.
2. Verify that this computer can reach the SQL Server computer.
3. Verify that SQL Server services are running.
4. Verify that SMS can access the SMS site database.
5. Verify that the SMS site database, transaction log, and tempdb are not full.
6. Verify that there are at least 50 SQL Server user connections, plus 5 for each SMS Administrator console.
If the problem persists, check the SQL Server error logs.
Possible cause: On a secondary site, SMS Discovery Data Manager probably cannot write to a file on the site server, so check for low disk space on the site server.
Solution: Make more space available on the site server.
how can I resolve the issue?? -
SQL 2012 SP1 and SCCM 2012 SP1
Hi,
I am installing SCCM 2012 SP1 with SQL 2012 SP1 in Stand-Alone mode. But I am receiving error:"the service broker endpoint cannot listen on port 4022 because it is in use by another process"
I saw in SQL (SQL Server Configuration Manager) that I am using port 4022 without dinamic port.
Thaks.

Hi
Can someone advice me if I can move my SCCM 2012 R2 SQL Databases (1 CAS and 2 Primary Site Server DB's) having version SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2012?
As per this blog, looks like we can....Do I need to take any additional checks?
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2013/04/02/how-to-move-the-configmgr-2012-site-database-to-a-new-sql-server.aspx
Thanks and regards

Gururaj PaiIt can be done. I'd try it in a lab first though.

SCCM 2012 SP1 + WSUS + Server 2012 + SQL Server 2012
Hi all;
I installed SCCM 2012 with Sp1 for my site server and everything is going well.. And than i installed the WSUS role on my Windows Server 2012 and SCCM 2012 SP1 it gave an error message which is "Fatal Error: The schema version of the database is from a newer
version of WSUS than currently installed. You must either patch your WSUS server to at least that version or drop the database." My database server is SQL Server 2012... Do you know any pathc for WSUS or SQL Server 2012 doesnt support WSUS yet???
Thank You...
MCTNormally if you are going to install SCCM 2012 SP1 +Windows 2012 with SQL 2012, Then you better use the SQL 2012 sp1.
also when you are installing the WSUS version 6.2 which come with server 2012 make sure you leave the default settings as it is. it shows in the below article.
also when you are giving the path to save the WSUS contents make sure the drive you going to create the wsus folder and the place where you going to download the updates is having free disk space and its formatted with the NTFS volume. Also the service account
you are using for this configuration should have the admin rights to the location of the wsus folder you going to create,
Thanks

Hello..
My Colleague and I are involved in implementing SCCM 2012 for a client and having a question on what would be the best practice (Microsoft Recommendation) for having DB for SCCM 2012 specifically, please note it is for 2012 and not for 2007. And, if
we are going to install SQL 2012 on the same box as SCCM 2012 is going to be installed,
1. Would it incur additional licensing cost for SQL 2012 (am asking as I read somewhere as long as the DB used just for CM, additional cost wouldn't be there)
2. What difference does it make to have the DB on cluster and on the local Primary Site box
3. If we gonna have DB in the Primary site box, what would happen if something goes wrong with this box (we just gonna have only one Primary site as per our design), and what happens until we bring this box functioning through Backup & Recovery (basically
it is going to be VM Snapshot recovery)
4. And finally, can we have the CM databases (one for CM & another for WSUS) on any existing instance (Production) which is running for Business critical applications? - Because, this we have to convince the App/DB owners of that particular instance
that we gonna share for SCCM.
And any additional steps related to DB considerations for SCCM that I missed to mention above can also be answered..
Thanks, V@s!mHi,
1, No as long as you use SQL Standard Edition and only use it for System Center 2012 Databases.
2, Cluster gives you higher availability than if you have it locally on the SCCM server but it is much more complex to manage, you will need additional SMS providers and so on to provide High-availability.
3, If you have it on the same box you can do nothing if it goes down, but it still requires you to have all other roles on different servers as well. Note using VM snapshop recovery is not supported and should not be used as other site systems will not now
what has happended when you restore it.
4, You could but I always recommend not to do it, as service pack upgrades, SQL CU, collation e.t.c must match and you will have even more dependencies when you do upgrades e.t.c
Using a Local SQL on the primaryn site server at least for implementations less than 50'000 clients is recommended, you will get better console performance, if you go for a cluster make sure the Network speed between the Primary Site and the SQL is as good
as it can be preferably the same switch.

Jörgen
