SCCM 2012 - Very slow LAN software deployments

Earlier this week I created a package containing office 2013 SP1 ready to deploy to our workstations
I have been installing the office 2013 package onto desktop computers on our LAN and it is being very slow on downloading the application from the DP.
The DP is on the same as the workstation and it appears to utilize less than 1mb of the 100mb local NIC card. I have also checked and the boundary config is set as a fast link. Has anyone come across this before?
When looking at the NIC on the DP server it is using 2% of its 1GB connection. I have also checked the distribution log and it is downloading from the local DP.

Thanks for your quick response :) That seems to be exactly the setting.
One question if you know the answer, If you define a boundary as having a slow link what happens to the traffic? Does this no longer do this slowly using BITS.
I can see this would be why this setting was set as we also have slow link sites without a DP

  • SCCM 2012 Console - slow performance when browsing in Applications Deployments

    Hi There,
we are experiencing a slow Console (SCCM 2012 R2 CU1, one Primary) if we go to Software Library > Applications and than clicking on Deployments. It takes up to 2 Minutes if we get results of the Deployments which depend to the Application. It Doesn´t
matter if there are 0 or 20 Deployments.
It only occurs if the SCCM Admins do not have full Admin rights in SCCM.
The reason must be the Security Scopes, because all Admins have full rights to be a "Application Deployment Manager".
Can somebody help me to get rid of this Problem?

  • MDT 2013 & SCCM 2012 R2 - Slow MDT Download

MDT Use toolkit package inside of OSD takes a very long time to download.<br>
MDT is only around 40mb total size, so i can't understand why it's taking so long on only this section.
Typically the use toolkit package where MDT downloads locally inside of OSD takes around 5-7 minutes, each of the files are small in size but the download time is ridiculous! I transfer a 6bg .wim file in 2 minutes when it comes to applying the image so
i know the network speed is ok, something is going wrong with the MDT package and downloading it.
Running a normal TS without MDT runs fine, and the image installs ok.
Pulling my hair out with how long MDT takes, it's adding on an extra 15-20 minutes onto my sequence just by downloading toolkit files!
Anyone had similar or know what I may be able to try?
The setup is a lab environment. I have a standalone primary, with local SQL, 1 DP & 3 physical clients.

I too have seen significant slowness downloading the MDT 2013 Toolkit package since upgrading my DEV environment (physical server and clients) to SCCM 2012 R2. It takes almost 20 minutes
    to download the package.
Watching SMSTS.LOG I can see that it taking about 2 second to download each file in the package. 617 files multiplied by 2 seconds comes out to right around 20 minutes.
Last night I installed the most recent hotfix (KB2910552) but I just confirmed that it did not improve the speed of the MDT toolkit package download.
I’m planning on opening a case with MS support today.
I'll report back with my findings.
Any update here? Can I ask if anyone is seeing the issue when using HTTPS?
@mgouldthorp1 - Have you raised a case yet and if so any updates?
    Thanks.

  • Very slow LAN connection on my Tecra M1

    Hi all,
I use a Toshiba Tecra M1 1.6 GHz, Win XP.
I found that there is something wrong with the LAN connection. It is very slow. I takes about 5 minutes to download 1 MB. It is really time consuming if I want to download and update some software through internet.
I also have one desktop. it is a bit quite old but LAN connection is much faster than my laptop; for instance, I downloaded Windows Mediaplayer 10 - about 12 MB by using desktop and latop at the same time to compare, the desktop took 2-3 minutes while the laptop ate more than 20 minutes. I have exchanged the cable between the desktop and laptop but it did not help.
Does any one know the potential problem and solution?
    Many thank.

    Hello
Nick is on the right way. Who knows what runs in the background and which applications wants to access internet. I recommend you to use tool called Zone alarm. On this way you will have the whole control about applications who want to access the internet.

  • Getting "Error: 0x80070654" when trying to install SCCM 2012 R2 Console from Software Center

    What I did:
Created a Package Source share on the Site Server
Gave the Package Source Share the following Share permissions: SCCM Admins: Full Control, Domain Computers: Full Control, Local Admins: Full Control.
Copied the "Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup" folder to my package source (Since the Package Source is actually on the site server, I just copied the ConsoleSetup folder to it that is on the same drive)
Created a package and a Standard Program
    Command line: ConsoleSetup.exe
I deploy it to my collection
Run Machine Policy and Reevaluation on my Right Click Tools
Go to one of my clients and open up Software Center and click the Install button
    It fails with ""Error: 0x80070654"
I open up execmgr.log on the client using CMTrace and I use the error lookup tool and it shows that the 0x80070654 error is "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer
    package"
I also see a red highlighted line in the execmgr.log file with the following entry: "Script for Package:PRI00013, Program: SCCM 2012 R2 Management Console failed with exit code 2147944020"
I can run ConsoleSetup.exe using a command line to the package source.

  • Very slow lan!

Hello to all. first of all sorry for my bad english.
    my configuration is:
    Mac Pro 1,1
    2 x xeon 2 ghz
    7 gb memory
    8800GT
    Mac osx 10.5.8
the problem is that: my network perfomance are too bad, the lan transfer (internet traffic from router to mac pro, from mac pro to printer epson trough lan) is very slow and no linear, go like a AC (see this image: http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4758/networkt.jpg )
when there is this problem using more than one hour to print an A4 photo
to restore and dab the problem must continually undertake a maintenance application (like onyx) and run script commands and maintenance of cleanliness of the various cache. done so, turn off and reboot.
thanks for attention. have a nice day.

the router is a Netgear ProSafe DGFV338, the Mac PRO and the printer are connect with a cable (no wi-fi). i haven't this problem when using the notebook, therefore rule out a problem to the router.
yes, i have tried to power off all component.

  • Sccm 2012 collection query for software deployment failed PCs

    Hi,
Let me know how can we create a collection of PCs which a particular advertisement failed.
    SCCM 2012 sp1 infra
    Midhun.PS

    See
http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/gramsey/archive/2006/10/20/How-To_3A00_-Create-a-Collection-Based-on-an-Advertisement-Status.aspx. This will only work for program deployments, not applications.

  • SCCM 2012 Machine Policy and Software Update Script - Remote Machine

Apologies if this has been answered before as there are so many good posts on this forum.  What I am after is a simple VB script that I can stick on a remote machine and then use PSexec to run the .vbs file.
I need to be able to carry out a Start/Control Panel/Configuration Manager (32 bit)/actions Tab
Machine Policy Retrieval and Evaluation Cycle (Initiate)
Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle (Initiate)
This is on SCCM 2012.  Also if the VB Script can come back to say if it has been successful or not would be awesome :)
I would like to type something like:
Psexec \"address of machine" SCCM.VBS (where the sccm.vbs is located on the remote machine)
Then for the vbs to carry out the 2 initiations above on the remote machine and then return with "Initiation Complete" or words to that affect.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'd highly recommend using some of the available right click tools instead. Here's one example:

  • SCCM 2012 SDK - Enumerate Installed Software in Software Center

    Hi,
In SCCM 2012 in Software Center there is a tab titled "Installed Software". Is there anyway
using the SCCM 2012 SDK I can enumarate what is on that list?
    Thanks,
    Ward

    Ward,
In root\ccm\clientsdk, you can query CCM_Application for a list of apps that show up in Software Center.
Specifically, take a look at the ResolvedState field - it should be "Installed" for software that shows up in that tab.

  • SCCM 2012- Wake on LAN

Has anyone tested Wake On LAN with SCCM 2012? I am getting error 0x80072741 in wolcmgr.log. Any help is much appreciated.
    Divya

Hi, here is the snipped from the wolcmgr.log. Also another update, now during our testing we can see that if the machine is in Sleep mode, they wake up at the time specified. However they don't wake up when they are in Hibernate mode.
Even though the machines are waking up, but we still get the same errors in WOLCMGR.LOG. Not sure if we can ignore them or if they are something to worry about.
Any help will be highly appreciated!

  • SCCM 2012 R2: copy over software/packages etc to other SCCM-server

    Hi,
We have a fully working SCCM server, now I'd like to setup a second one (UAT purposes) and sync some stuff to it (task sequences, packages etc).
What would be the best way to do this: export-import?
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

You can run PS to export and import. Be aware I'm currently trying to export TS with PS with R2 CU1 installed and it doesn't like the Export-CMTaskSequence command for sure. This has been verified as resolved
using the same command in CU3.
In fact Mike Marable has just posted a blog entry about CU1 PS issues exporting.

  • Very slow LAN speed

I have a "MI424WR" router. Various pages say it has speeds up to 12 mebabyte/second transfer rate, but I am only getting no more then 3mb/s ever.
I have 1 desktop that is wired and 1 laptop that uses wireless
    Help is apprecitated

Since you refer to slow LAN speeds, I assume you're referring to a transfer between the wired desktop PC and the wireless laptop.
Any transfer between the two is going to be constrained by the slowest component, which is your wireless connection.
You said you're getting "Mob/s".  I'm not clear if you're referring to megabits or megabytes.
If that number is megabytes, that's about average for a wireless-G connections.
    MOB/sec (note the caps) * 8 bits/byte = 24Mbps
If you meant 3Mbps, then you're probably dealing with a wireless interference issue and should look at the usual wireless troubleshooting issues, such as changing the channel, eliminating sources of interference, etc.

  • Software Inventory in 2012 very slow

Hi, like many other people, I've noticed software inventory running much slower than in 2007. Various people have said its been assigned a lower priority, and also have given the opinion that its not a useful feature..
However, in my environment, I have been tasked with finding various media files on machines (mp3, avi, mkv), and submitting report to higher authorities so they can then ask the people in question if they need to be using so much disk space for personal
material, and if they are legitimate copies etc.
Software Inventory seems perfect for this. However, if you are scanning a computer for a few file types, even excluding the windows directory, you are looking at more than 6 hours.
Do people have any other recommendations on how to go about this task, or how to improve the Software Inventory process/speed?
Unfortunately people don't always place music file in the music folder, and video file in video, so if you want to find this stuff, you have to do a wider search.

Your observation is correct, there has been changes made to how software inventory is running in CM12 compared to CM07.
