SCCM 2012R2 OSD Win 8.1 C:/ and D:/
Hi!
SCCM 2012R2 OSD Win 8.1 System disk is C:/ and users pfofile disk is D:/
Create new TaskSequence.
Partition Disk 0:
System(Primary) 50%
USERS(Primary) 100%
Apply Operation System: add image capture 1-1
Apply Data Image 2: add image capture 2-2 , Specific loggical drive letter+D
Save this TS to USB KEY and execute to workstation. OS System disk is Ok = C:
but disk D: recive is letter E: !! What is wrong?!
installing OS from .iso
(the HyperV VM), Disk letter
is good. But my win8.1.WIM
is greater than the max size DualLayer
DVD, and I can not burn
dvd.
cenubit
I do not knowwhat to do with "Specific disk and partition also".
How can ithelp?!
My solution is as follows:
Blank workstation add:
create file c:\EtoD\EtoD.cmd
"diskpart /s c:\EtoD\EtoD.txt"
create file c:\EtoD\EtoD.txt
"select Volume=E
assign letter=D"
create Task Sheduler new task "EtoD" action="When the computer starts", Program= " c:\EtoD\EtoD.cmd ",
Running task as = "SYSTEM", enable checkbox "Run with highest privileges";
Works well. But I would like more elegant
solution.

SCCM 2012 OSD Task Sequence - force Policy and SCEP update?
Hi,
How can I force a policy update to update machine policy and scep definitions at the end of
SCCM 2012 OSD Task Sequence,
Thanks,
Ward.Hi,
I normally use this solution from Chris Nackers to deploy the latest EP definitions during OSD and deploy a custom EP policy, it works great. The policy will be downloaded when the client is registered.

Jörgen

AYehia -
Hello All,
Please I need help! I have not seen the above error without relationship to two of the known causes for sometime during a Windows 7 osd in an SCCM 2012 R2 environment with a remote DP/PXE server. I understand this error: to occur when the boot images
does not have "Network drivers in the past Winpe version ( i.e. 3.0, 4.0), not Winpe 5.0 which has all the Network and storage drivers for Windows 7" or when Port fast is not enabled on the switch port the pxe device is plugged into. These two causes
stated here have been verified and confirmed not to be the cause in this case within the environment. The PXE boot device has ip-address (verified using ip-config, diskpart as well reveals the disk is online) and can ping the wds/pxe server and the sccm server.
Port fast is enabled on the switch port the device is plugged into. I am stuck on this one; as I could not ascertain the cause on this occasion.
Please see details below and I welcome any help any body can offer, thanks in advance guys!
Client – Winpe x64
Server - Windows Server 2008 R2 configured as a PXE / WDS / SCCM DP
Network - both devices on the same subnet
Problem: Client performs PXE boot, downloads Winpe without problems. Client then tries to download .var file. This is not successful and TFTP timeout is received. Error code in
smsts.log states:

SQL Query (Migrating report from SMS 2003 and SCCM 2012R2)
Hello everyone,
I solicit you because I have to work on migrating reports from SMS 2003 and SCCM 2012 R2.
The following SQL query causes me some problems:
SELECT DISTINCT SYS.Netbios_Name0 AS Computer, (SELECT SUM(ProcAddtl.NumberOfLogicalProcessors0) FROM v_GS_Processor_Addtl0 ProcAddtl WHERE ProcAddtl.ResourceID=SYS.ResourceID) [Cores], CS.NumberOfProcessors0 AS CPU, CPU.MaxClockSpeed0 As Speed, CPU.Name0, MEMORY.TotalPhysicalMemory0/1024 AS [RAM Mb], (SELECT LDISKS.Name0 + '=' + CONVERT(varchar(15), LDISKS.Size0/1024) + ' | ' as 'data()' FROM v_GS_LOGICAL_DISK LDISKS WHERE LDISKS.ResourceID=SYS.ResourceID AND (LDISKS.Name0='C:' OR LDISKS.Name0='D:') ORDER BY LDISKS.Name0 FOR xml path('')) [Logical Disk (Gb)], (SELECT LDISKS.Name0 + '=' + CONVERT(varchar(15), LDISKS.FreeSpace0/1024) + ' | ' as 'data()' FROM v_GS_LOGICAL_DISK LDISKS WHERE LDISKS.ResourceID=SYS.ResourceID AND (LDISKS.Name0='C:' OR LDISKS.Name0='D:') ORDER BY LDISKS.Name0 FOR xml path('')) [Free Space(Gb)],CS.Manufacturer0 AS Manufacturer, CS.Model0, OS.Caption0 AS 'OS', (SELECT CONVERT(varchar(10), NIC.Index0) + '=' + NIC.IPAddress0 + ' | ' as 'data()' FROM v_GS_NETWORK_ADAPTER_CONFIGUR NIC WHERE NIC.ResourceID=SYS.ResourceID FOR xml path('')) [Network], (SELECT Count(Name0) FROM v_GS_SCSI_CONTROLLER SCSI WHERE SCSI.ResourceID=SYS.ResourceID AND SCSI.Name0 Like '%Qlogic%') [# FC HBA], INFONOYAU.RoleServeur0 AS Role, INFONOYAU.Zone0 AS Zone

Can a charitable soul help me to migrate this query to a SCCM 2012R2 report? The following SQL query causes me some problems:

file="utils.cpp:5987">Is your capture TS based on MDT or OSD? Do you have MDT installed and integrated?
I was wrong before, MDT 2013 and ADK 8.1 does not support XP, but ConfMgr 2012R2 does, if you integrate WinPE 3.1 as you already did. Still, your logs shows that you have troubles with Boot Image / WinPE.
Let me suggest something;
- Make sure WinPE 3.1 is available from DP. Are you able to deploy TS (Win7) with 3.1? Will it get downloaded?
- With XP, I felt is more reliable to capture it with a media. So you have XP running, and you execure capture image (created By ConfMgr). So maybe you should try that? Capture Media will reboot your reference machine to WinPE and save .wim file to a share. -
SCCM 2012 OSD with Multiple Drive letters using StandAlone Media
Hey guys I have a client who is required to partition their Windows 8.1 installation in three different partitions:
C:(OS Partition)
d:(SQLData Partition)
E:(Client Data Partition)
G:(CD-ROM)
I Already know that I should not use multiple drives for OSD but this is the requirement I have been given...
When I deploy my TS through PxE or USB Bootable Media all the drives are labeled correctly... C,D and E but if I Use Standalone USB Media then I end up with C, E and F and G as CDRom. I know that WinPE assigns a drive letter to the usb stick usually d: but
not always so how can I set the USB Standalone media to act the same way as PxE and Usb Boot Media? is there a way to have PE set the USB drive to drives latter in the alphabet? s, t or w?
Please helpHey Joyce thanks for the response but I am not talking about the fact that the drives are labeled differently in PE I am stating that once the imaging process is complete the drive letters are not the same when doing a deployment through PxE or USB Bootable
media... When using Full standalone USB media to deploy the exact same TS the drive letter assignment is not consistent so to be as clear as I can I will explain again...
When doing a deployment from PxE, USB BOOT Media or USB BOOT Media attached to a VM, all the drives end up correct at the end of the deployment so C: is the OS drive D: is the Data Drive and E: is the Maps Drive (Keep in mind that if I do a usb
bootable media deployment and leave the USB in the computer I have the same issue as the standalone media)
But if I run the deployment from a STANDALONE USB Media then everything runs as it should but when I enter windows and look at my drive letter assignment the C: is the OS drive the D: drive is the USB the E: drive is the Data drive and G: is the Maps
Drive...
Which means to me that when windows is assigning drive letters it is assigning the USB Drive as D and not something less intrusive like y: or o:
So the question is: How can I have the drive letters assigned properly when using full standalone media So that my deployments are consistent when deploying through PxE, Usb Boot Media and USB Standalone media? Did no one ever test this out? and if so is
this what I can expect from SCCM 2012R2 For consistency to not be available across all deployment methods? -
Have delay to deliver updates to client in sccm 2012r2
Hi
that's a few month that I'm working with sccm 2012r2 in order to keep my organization updated and patched .but the problem is after discovering a new computer and triggering that computer to get updates from SUP It doesn't show any updates in software center
,in fact after 2 hours those updates appear and start installing .I searched the internet a lot .all settings are right according to microsoft documents .recently I doubt to my automatic deployment rules .those rules are working fine but I think the delay
could be because of the number of my rules ,I have 35 automatic deployment rules that start at the same time .this is the screen shot of the rules . is this configuration suitable ?
if the number of update rule is too much what should to do with maximum number of updates in each rule(1000 update per each rule) ?
thanks a millionYes. That's a lot of update rules (as a side question, why are being so granular with them?); however, it has nothing to do with what you've described. Update Rules have nothing to do with enforcing updates on clients. ADRs merely create (or update) update
groups, update packages, and update deployments. Update deployments perform the actual work of enforcing updates on clients. Also, there's no 1,000 updates per rule requirement. Update groups however are limited to 1,000 updates. Still, none of this truly
has anything to do with what you've described.
ConfigMgr is not an instant gratification system -- it is an enterprise client management tool and certain actions and activities take time to happen. Can you please walk us through *exactly* what you're doing when installing a new system including the timing
and what your expectations are?
Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | @jasonsandys
thank you very much .
but my expectation is when I install a new os ,Sccm detect that as soon as possible and give client the updates asap again even when I use the Action tab in configuration manager Item in control panel.
of course it detect my new client but it takes time to give them updates (about 2 hours). Before I was using wsus ,updates was sent to client and was installed immediately after client detection(of course using Check for Update in control panel).
I want to decrease my rules .but whats the best solution and categorization ?now I have 4449 Updates in sccm database .
in Update classification I just selected critical, security, rullup, update.
I would be glad if you masters give me a helpful solution .
thanks -
SCCM 2012R2 Software Update Point (Old Programs List olny)
hi,
i have sccm 2012R2, today i add to sccm software update point role but there in Products page not showilng latest microsoft products such as Office 2013, Exchange 2013, Windows Server 2012R2,Windows 8.1,
there is only old programs,eg. office 2010, server 2012 (not R2)
i update sccm to latest cumulative update 4 but no change in there,
i need to update client computers, there are all Windows 8.1 systems.
how can i update cients from sccm?
picture link:
https://www.imageupload.co.uk/image/ZZwwThis list comes from WSUS which in its default, newly installed state is out of date. The list is however updated every time that WSUS in synced and the catalog is updated in ConfigMgr. Thus, you simple need to initiate an update catalog sync from within
the ConfigMgr console by going to the Software Updates -> All Software Updates node and choosing Synchronize Software Updates from the ribbon bar or right-click context menu.

Deploy Powershell 3 to Win7 Via SCCM 2012R2
Is it possible to deploy Powershell 3 to Windows 7 clients using SCCM 2012R2? Or WSUS?
I have read a few blogs describing different methods such as dism to repackage the cab file or using a scripted deployment type (Windows6.1-KBxxxxxxxx64.msu /quiet
/norestart) but i can not get it to install the update. My aim is to get the app-v 5 client on windows 7 desktops so powershell 3 is a requirement.
Has anyone worked out how to deploy it?
Many Thanks DaveIf you're clients are currently at PowerShell 2, I would recommend installing Windows Management Framework 4 instead of 3. WMF4 has lots of powershell and WMI improvements over WMF3.
To deploy WMF4, create an Application with two deployment types (one for x86 and one for x64). The program is pretty simple - you just need something like "WUSA.EXE Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu /quiet /norestart". For a detection
method, the easiest thing to do is a file version check on "%windir%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe"
Use the WMF4 Application object as a pre-requisite for your App-V 5 Client.
I hope that helps,

All,
Short question. We need to deploy the SCCM (2012R2) agent to 1000+ Windows 2003 servers with BITS 2.0 installed. What is the standard way to deploy BITS 2.5 on those systems. I figured out that 2.5 cannot be pushed with WSUS and since there is no SCCM
client on the machine it cannot be pushed by configuation manager.
ThanksI did it by hand. You could script it and use psexec or GPO to install it though. I seem to recall that they will also need a .net upgrade.

Hi
i have SCCM 2012R2 up and running and wanted to integrate it with MDT 2013.
Just out of curiosity, once MDT has been installed, do we really need to download and install WAIK?
What is the benefit of having it in MDT? i can see under MDT Components the status is: Required.
Thanks, M@Hi,
The MDT integration doesn't need the WAIK. The only prerequisite is ConfigMgr console.
After you installed MDT you need to run the integration wizzard which will add new features in ConfigMgr console such as MDT task sequences, new step types in task sequence, you're not (unless you want to use it) supposed to launch MDT console, it's just
about extending ConfigMgr console features.

SCCM 2012 OSD task sequence condition
Is there a way to set a condition on a step that looks to see if the machine is already known to SCCM / Active Directory?
I have a step that names the PC using ITX Solutions AutoName function. I want to say only use this step if the machine is not known. This is essentially a follow on to: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3c6f37ad-b3dc-4219-ae7f-e6c51f05d5bf/sccm-2012-osd-retain-computer-name-on-reimage-rebuild?forum=configmanagerosd
To my knowledge, there is nothing explicitly built-in; however, you might be able to check _SMSTSMachineName to see if it matches the default WinPE naming convention of MINNIT_* or _SMSTSClientGUID to see if it has a value.
You could also put a task in before the format and partition step to check for an existing installation.

Tweak SCCM 2012R2 for faster time to content distribution to DPs
Hello,
SCCM 2012R2 with 1 primary site and 140 DPs. I would like to reduce the total time that it takes to have content fully staged on all my DPs. To that end, I am interested in tweaking SCCM to be more aggressive and send out more content at one
given time. My primary server doesn't get taxed (RAM, CPU, Disk or network).
I'm aware of the "Content Distribution Settings" with "Maximum number of packages" and "Maximum number of threads" under "Software Distribution Component Properties."
What do you run these at for your primary site? (particularly if you have many DPs)
If I raise either to an absurd level, where would I see the bottleneck/failure? (my assumption here is that I can back down from this side of absurd and monitor this bottleneck)
Do you recommend adjusting the retry settings?
Using the "Distribution Point Job Queue Manager, I can see that 78 of my DPs have double digit retries. 5 DPs have triple digit retries. -
What is a "normal" amount of retries?
Can this number be reset so that I can evaluate with it's incrementing?
In summation, my goal is to allow the primary sccm server to use more resources to get the content staged out in less time. If I'm not asking the correct questions, please do let me know.
Thanks for your consideration. What do you run these at for your primary site? (particularly if you have many DPs)

#1: just tweak those settings yourself and monitor the outcome.
#2: the network will get saturated and there will be a high load on the disks
#3: it depends (on the availability of the remote DPs and WAN links; 100 is usually enough). Content distribution is only retried if an error occured so you should not see any retries unless something is wrong.
