SCCM 2012R2 PXE via IpHelper
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to deploy SCCM2012R2 task sequence via PXE with IpHelpers.
I've configured the IPHelpers to point to the SCCM DP PXE and the DHCP, but nothing happen.
Has someone a quick guide on how to configure SCCM2012 and iphelper?

SCCM 2012R2 PXE Boot Selection?
PXE Use to be so easy with MDT, Select the version of the Boot.wim file (32/64Bit) and go..
But now SCCM Chooses for us, and when you deploy a 32bit OS, Tool, or Setting to a collection, than Everything inside of that collection boots to 32bit PXE - ultimately failing the TS because its not 64Bit.

I would say that Johans example only works for MDT and not ConfigMgr. There is no such option as when you boot you have already started on the wrong boot file from the PXE server. Where does it fail? You can with the exeption of UEFI computers boot on a
x86 image and deploy an x64 image.

Deploy Powershell 3 to Win7 Via SCCM 2012R2
Is it possible to deploy Powershell 3 to Windows 7 clients using SCCM 2012R2? Or WSUS?
I have read a few blogs describing different methods such as dism to repackage the cab file or using a scripted deployment type (Windows6.1-KBxxxxxxxx64.msu /quiet
/norestart) but i can not get it to install the update. My aim is to get the app-v 5 client on windows 7 desktops so powershell 3 is a requirement.
Has anyone worked out how to deploy it?
Many Thanks DaveIf you're clients are currently at PowerShell 2, I would recommend installing Windows Management Framework 4 instead of 3. WMF4 has lots of powershell and WMI improvements over WMF3.
To deploy WMF4, create an Application with two deployment types (one for x86 and one for x64). The program is pretty simple - you just need something like "WUSA.EXE Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu /quiet /norestart". For a detection
method, the easiest thing to do is a file version check on "%windir%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe"
Use the WMF4 Application object as a pre-requisite for your App-V 5 Client.

SCCM 2012R2 osd pxe-e32 tftp open timeout
I have SCCM 2012 R2 standalone primary site on windows server 2012 and i have Cisco dhcp server i configured the distribution point for pxe boot to
work with osd i added boot images and configured them and the network guy configured the next server option to point to sccm server on the dhcp and the pxe boot fails we tried option 66 it fails also then we tried option 67 and it fails again we always get
the same error message pxe-32 : tftp open timeout.
option 67 SMSBoot\x86\wdsnbp.com,
and the 66 the ip of the sccm server================= PXE Provider loaded. =====================

SCCM 2012R2 PXEboot enabled and WDS cannot install (0x80070643)
After the new year - I get back and find out WDS is missing from the SCCM server. I have tried many things and I am at the end, not sure what else I can try!
-uninstalled Windows assessment 8.1
-removed all boot images
-rebooted, installed Windows assessment 8.1, rebooted, imported default boot.wim, configured them be used with pxe, enabled pxe on the SCCM DP.
-Manually tried to install WDS, failed with the same error message (0x80070643)
What's odd is it seems like SCCM thinks PXE is up and running according to distmgr.log When I enable PXE on the DP, I get this:

Not sure if it's related or not but I am unable to install IE10 or KB2670838. The update goes, says all is well, server reboots, configures itself and then failed, reverts, reboots two times and comes back up with failed updates.

I have run chkdsk /r /f, sfc /scannow - all reporting back clean.
I thought maybe it was .net 3.5 related, I uninstalled Windows Process Activation Services, tried installing updates, WDS, same issue. They all fail. Installed the latest .net 4.5.1 as well, same issue. Didn't help.
I fired up a backup from October and WDS was running on that, so it was working a few months back. Event viewer says it was working all the way up to Jan 2, 2014 and then the WDS events stop. It's like WDS got uninstalled or deleted and never to be heard
from again.
WDS Error on the day it 'left' was WDSIMGSRV Event ID 258.
The description for Event ID 258 from source WDSIMGSRV cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I know there are two things here, a few updates (ie10 that cannot be installed) and WDS failing to come back up but I have a sneaky feeling they are related somehow. If one starts to work, they both do?
Server is Windows 2008 R2 SP1, hosted on a ESXi 5.1 box, VMNICs are intel based.Thanks for the replys!
I have installed the hotfix and the server was running on 2012R2 for a month before this happened, WDS was running, I was imaging, had no issues.
I do have KB2905002 installed on the server, I did that the day after I upgraded from SP1 to R2 after I found it took 1+ hour to image a machine.
As for this:

'wdsutil' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I don't have WDSUTIL on the server, it's gone. Nothing WDS related is in C:\Windows\System32 and I can't enable the role to get it going again.

Have delay to deliver updates to client in sccm 2012r2

that's a few month that I'm working with sccm 2012r2 in order to keep my organization updated and patched .but the problem is after discovering a new computer and triggering that computer to get updates from SUP It doesn't show any updates in software center
,in fact after 2 hours those updates appear and start installing .I searched the internet a lot .all settings are right according to microsoft documents .recently I doubt to my automatic deployment rules .those rules are working fine but I think the delay
could be because of the number of my rules ,I have 35 automatic deployment rules that start at the same time .this is the screen shot of the rules . is this configuration suitable ?
if the number of update rule is too much what should to do with maximum number of updates in each rule(1000 update per each rule) ?
thanks a millionYes. That's a lot of update rules (as a side question, why are being so granular with them?); however, it has nothing to do with what you've described. Update Rules have nothing to do with enforcing updates on clients. ADRs merely create (or update) update
groups, update packages, and update deployments. Update deployments perform the actual work of enforcing updates on clients. Also, there's no 1,000 updates per rule requirement. Update groups however are limited to 1,000 updates. Still, none of this truly
has anything to do with what you've described.
ConfigMgr is not an instant gratification system -- it is an enterprise client management tool and certain actions and activities take time to happen. Can you please walk us through *exactly* what you're doing when installing a new system including the timing
and what your expectations are?

but my expectation is when I install a new os ,Sccm detect that as soon as possible and give client the updates asap again even when I use the Action tab in configuration manager Item in control panel.
of course it detect my new client but it takes time to give them updates (about 2 hours).Before I was using wsus ,updates was sent to client and was installed immediately after client detection(of course using Check for Update in control panel).
I want to decrease my rules .but whats the best solution and categorization ?now I have 4449 Updates in sccm database .
in Update classification I just selected critical,security,rullup,update.
I would be glad if you masters give me a helpful solution .

Hi, i'm trying to capture Windows xp sp3 with SCCM 2012R2, but still getting an error. We already applied the hotfix for Windows xp with WinPe3.1. Is anybody able to help with smsts.log below or do i need to post some additinal logs?

file="utils.cpp:5987">Is your capture TS based on MDT or OSD? Do you have MDT installed and integrated?
I was wrong before, MDT 2013 and ADK 8.1 does not support XP, but ConfMgr 2012R2 does, if you integrate WinPE 3.1 as you already did. Still, your logs shows that you have troubles with Boot Image / WinPE.
Let me suggest something;
- Make sure WinPE 3.1 is available from DP. Are you able to deploy TS (Win7) with 3.1? Will it get downloaded?
- With XP, I felt is more reliable to capture it with a media. So you have XP running, and you execure capture image (created By ConfMgr). So maybe you should try that? Capture Media will reboot your reference machine to WinPE and save .wim file to a share. -
SCCM 2012R2 Software Update Point (Old Programs List olny)

i have sccm 2012R2, today i add to sccm software update point role but there in Products page not showilng latest microsoft products such as Office 2013, Exchange 2013, Windows Server 2012R2,Windows 8.1,
there is only old programs,eg. office 2010, server 2012 (not R2)
i update sccm to latest cumulative update 4 but no change in there,
i need to update client computers, there are all Windows 8.1 systems.
how can i update cients from sccm?

https://www.imageupload.co.uk/image/ZZwwThis list comes from WSUS which in its default, newly installed state is out of date. The list is however updated every time that WSUS in synced and the catalog is updated in ConfigMgr. Thus, you simple need to initiate an update catalog sync from within
the ConfigMgr console by going to the Software Updates -> All Software Updates node and choosing Synchronize Software Updates from the ribbon bar or right-click context menu.

Short question. We need to deploy the SCCM (2012R2) agent to 1000+ Windows 2003 servers with BITS 2.0 installed. What is the standard way to deploy BITS 2.5 on those systems. I figured out that 2.5 cannot be pushed with WSUS and since there is no SCCM
client on the machine it cannot be pushed by configuation manager.
ThanksI did it by hand. You could script it and use psexec or GPO to install it though. I seem to recall that they will also need a .net upgrade.

Just out of curiosity, once MDT has been installed, do we really need to download and install WAIK?
What is the benefit of having it in MDT? i can see under MDT Components the status is: Required.

The MDT integration doesn't need the WAIK. The only prerequisite is ConfigMgr console.
After you installed MDT you need to run the integration wizzard which will add new features in ConfigMgr console such as MDT task sequences, new step types in task sequence, you're not (unless you want to use it) supposed to launch MDT console, it's just
about extending ConfigMgr console features.

This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityI have been Racking my brain for a Month now trying to setup a Biscom Faxserver using the BrookTrout SR140 . I have had a AT&T/Shoretel Tier3 engineer work with me twice, the last session was for 4 hours trying to get the outbound part of this faxserver to work. Oddly to to it will receive inbound Faxes successfully. It will not get past the initial "Send a test Fax".
Previously I was getting a "403 forbidden" error in wireshark and starting yesterday I am getting a "415 unsupported media" error.I have used the the setup documentation @

Create new TaskSequence.
Partition Disk 0:
System(Primary) 50%
USERS(Primary) 100%
Apply Operation System: add image capture 1-1
Apply Data Image 2: add image capture 2-2 , Specific loggical drive letter+D
Save this TS to USB KEY and execute to workstation. OS System disk is Ok = C:
but disk D: recive is letter E: !! What is wrong?!

Tweak SCCM 2012R2 for faster time to content distribution to DPs
Hello,
SCCM 2012R2 with 1 primary site and 140 DPs. I would like to reduce the total time that it takes to have content fully staged on all my DPs. To that end, I am interested in tweaking SCCM to be more aggressive and send out more content at one
given time. My primary server doesn't get taxed (RAM, CPU, Disk or network).
I'm aware of the "Content Distribution Settings" with "Maximum number of packages" and "Maximum number of threads" under "Software Distribution Component Properties."
What do you run these at for your primary site? (particularly if you have many DPs)
If I raise either to an absurd level, where would I see the bottleneck/failure? (my assumption here is that I can back down from this side of absurd and monitor this bottleneck)
Do you recommend adjusting the retry settings?
Using the "Distribution Point Job Queue Manager, I can see that 78 of my DPs have double digit retries. 5 DPs have triple digit retries. -
What is a "normal" amount of retries?
Can this number be reset so that I can evaluate with it's incrementing?
In summation, my goal is to allow the primary sccm server to use more resources to get the content staged out in less time. If I'm not asking the correct questions, please do let me know.

#1: just tweak those settings yourself and monitor the outcome.
#2: the network will get saturated and there will be a high load on the disks
#3: it depends (on the availability of the remote DPs and WAN links; 100 is usually enough). Content distribution is only retried if an error occured so you should not see any retries unless something is wrong.
