SCCM and the Cloud

Hello,
I am reading several threads on SCCM
in the cloud:
intune:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windowsintune/pc-management.aspx
Intune will not support that many devices and does not support server OSes at all. Also, ConfigMgr itself is not supported to run anywhere but on-premise.
Several Customers and Consulting company have installed Intune:
Aston Martin: 700 devices (including 180 Windows 8 Phones)
Colliers : 1,400 employees
It seems difficult for now to find customer which have a large environment…
Our environment is 1000+ servers, 15000+ Desktops, 25000 employees...
Any evolution within the last 6 months...
Any MS document(s) stating something about the size of the environment to be supported with the cloud?
Thanks,
Dom
System Center Operations Manager 2007 / System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 / Forefront Client Security / Forefront Identity Manager

Stand-alone Intune (according to marketing documentation) supports 7,000 devices and 5,000 users. It is not meant for large scale management and lacks many/most enterprise features included within ConfigMgr.
ConfigMgr supports anywhere from 100 to 400,000+ devices.
There is no cloud option for ConfigMgr and there is no public information on their plans to make such an option available in the future. IMO (and only MO), this will come soon but won't be cheap because of the back-end infrastructure required to support
ConfigMgr: ConfigMgr is not a simple or small DB application (it's at the far opposite end of that spectrum) and it also pushes a lot of data around -- both the these are expensive in terms of cloud hosting.
Thus, yes, there is somewhat of a gap for organizations looking for/needing the power of ConfigMgr but not wanting to host it on-prem.

Is there a way to Move files to the iCloud thus freeing up disk space on my Mac? Or does iCloud only sync (replicate) files between my Mac and the cloud? I want to free up disk space on my Mac and assumed that the icloud would be a good way to do this, but having 'moved' 70Gb of files to the iCloud drive (I've upgraded to 200Gb storage) my Mac is still nearly full and I've realised that it seems to just Sync files just like dropbox.

So, the big question is did the Apple guys confirm that this is how the new iCloud drive should be working?  I'm guessing, from your response, that this is indeed the case.  Are they going to fix this anytime soon?  I thought that this was a new function of the iCloud drive in Yosemite.
I just want an online storage facility to back up my photo & music collections.  I did look at Dropbox as they have a good deal going with their Dropbox Pro, however this is still just a sync service where the Master files reside on your local disk drive - although I have read that there may be a way to work around this.  Still not ideal.

Has anyone ben able to connect to BTOpenzone and The Cloud wifi networks?  Specifically I have an O2 SIM only contract with internet access which is meant to provide WiFi acess through BTOpenzone and The Cloud at hotspots such as various branded coffee shops BUT I canot log on and O2 is not interested in assisting because O2 does not "support" the N900.

if it comes with o2 then you should have a username and password to access it

Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.

  • HT201272 Keep getting error #499 when trying to download a song from an album I purchased that failed to download.  Error message appears when trying to download from iTunes and the cloud. Re-starting the computer did not help.

I downloaded an album I purhcased a few days ago but one of the album's songs did not download.  I received an error message, #499, for which I can get no explanation or interpretation of what error #499 even is (other than generic terms).  All my efforts to re-start the download have failed.  I've tried several times to download the file to no avail, tried the cloud service to no avail, and re-started the computer to no avail.
My main intention is to, of course, get the download completed.  My secondary intention is to, hopefully, bring to the attention of Apple - iTunes staff, the grossly inadequate, dare I say cryptic, error message descriptions iTunes displays.
I can provide the purchase receipt number if it is required.

    Hey SDGardella,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are receiving error 499 when attempting to download purchases from the iTunes Store. The following resource outlines this error message:

    "Error 499"
This alert occurs due to security software. Follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I would like to completely remove an app from my iPad and the cloud.  Is that possible?

I seem to be having a challenge connecting an app to Facebook to access my friends list, etc.  I read that if there is a problem, I need to uninstall the app and reinstall it.  I am just pulling back the saved data from the cloud which does not do me any good.  I just began the game and do not mind beginning from the beginning since I have not invested any money yet.  Thank you!

    Hello FeyQueen,
You may be able to remove existing game data by via the following:
On your iOS device, go to Settings > iCloud, then tap Storage & Backup.
On your Mac, go to Apple () menu > System Preferences, click iCloud, then click Manage.
    On your Windows computer:
Windows 8.1: Go to the Start screen and click the down arrow in the lower-left corner. Click the iCloud app, then click Manage.
Windows 8: Go to the Start screen and click the iCloud tile, then click Manage.
Windows 7: Choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud, then click Manage.
Once in the 'Manage' dialog, look for the name or icon of the affected game. If present, you should be able to delete any data the game has saved to your iCloud account.

  • TS4147 Question on syncing between my iphone, Outlook and the Cloud

I can enter/revise contacts on Outlook on my PC (faster than doing it on cloud) and they go to my iphone under 'all from my PC' which is great, but how do I get those same contacts to copy to the cloud and, if I enter contacts on my iphone they go only to the Cloud, not to Outlook!
    Thank you!

Make sure that both of these settings are correct.
    Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream>On.
    Settings>Photos And Camera>My Photo Stream>On.
Any photos that you take with the phone - After you turn on Photo Stream on both Devices - should sync to the iPad. The same would apply to photos taken with the iPad.
Settings>iCloud>Notes>On. You must setup an iCloud email account for this to work. You do not have to use the email account, but the notes will not sync unless you set up the account - or unless you have an IMAP email account that wil sync notes over the air.
    Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account>Notes>On.

  • HT4061 I need help with my I-phone 4S and the Cloud,  I can't locate my serial number  I also have a new 4g I-Pad  Can someone help me

I need help to locate my pictures in the cloud
When my son updated my phone early this year it wiped out all my pictues on my I-phone 4S
How do I access the cloud to view my pictures??

Do you have Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account on your computer?
iCloud is temporary storage - limited to 1,000 photos and 30 days for each photo.
Photos/videos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera especially before installing an iOS update.

  • Snow Leopard and the Cloud

    Hello,
I have Lion installed on my iMac but unfortunately my Macbook is just a little too old. Still with the last system (Snow Leopard?). Question is, will I be able to take advantage of most of the features of the Cloud when it comes in September? For example, if I import photos into iPhoto on my Macbook, will they go to the Cloud and allow me to import to my iPad 2, iMac (Lion) and so on? And Address book? And Calendar?
    Regards,
    Tom

Just found the answer to my own question.

  • Purchased Audiobooks and the Cloud - Syncing?

Why don't my audiobooks that I bought from iTunes show up in my Purchases and why can't I sync them to the Cloud? I was trying to get the purchased audiobooks on my Air while away from home, and noticed they didn't show up on my Cloud or in my Purchased list in the iTunes store. I thought that, maybe, my main laptop wasn't configured to sync, but it is, and I still can't get the audiobooks to show up. They exist neither in the Music nor the Books tabs on that page.
    What's up with that?

"Why don't my audiobooks that I bought from iTunes show up in my Purchases and why can't I sync them to the Cloud? "
Because the audiobook industry does not allow this.  You get one download. Audiobooks are not in icloud

  • Grey songs, black songs and the cloud symbol on iphone

in my music library on my iphone with ios7 songs that i have purchased appear in grey with the cloud symbol next to them.I understand that this means they are in the cloud and i could download them, however there are also some songs that have the cloud symbol but are not greyed out what does that mean?
When music is playing on shuffle it will sometimes select one of these songs. am i being charged for data when it does that?
I turned off "use cellular data" in the itunes settings menu, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    Try all of these.

  • Move to Lion and the Cloud?

That's the question.  I've seen a lot of cautionary tales regarding the switch to Lion.  Have not heard much about moving to the Cloud.  What is the current consensus?  Other than the desire to move to the Cloud, I am happy with Snow Leopard.  I'm running Snow Leopard on a MacBook, an iMac and a MacMini. Feedback appreciated.

You will mostly only read about complaints with Lion in here, since this is a forum for users whom are having trouble with it.  I for one, have had it since its first day of release and have had only a few minor problems that have been fixed with software updates.
