SCCM Application Catalog re-direction

HI,
In our SCCM 2012 environment enabled with Application catalog. We wanted to redirect the same with easy remember url. So we created DNS alias name but when we access the URL and try to install applications it give security error. Is there a way to make this
work.

  • SCCM Application Catalog Query / Report - List of Applications a User Can Install

    Hello,
In SCCM, if a user launches the application catalog, they are presented with a list of application that they have access to install. We don't use the approval request feature.   I was wondering if anyone knows of a report or SQL query that would
return the same results as if I launching the application catalog as that user.   I just want the name of the application.
E.g.  List all applications ADDOMAIN\JOHNDOE has access to install.
    ADOBE Reader
    Visio 2010
    Access 2010 etc.
    Thanks.

  • SCCM application catalog cannot connect to application server

    Hi all,
We have SCCM 2012 SP1 deployed. When we try to connect to the Application Catalog we are unable to and get an error that says unable to connect to the application server. The related roles were uninstalled and re-installed, so the configuration is correct.
We have a C drive and an I drive. The I drive is where all content is stored for when we deploy packages.
I am wondering if having the two separate drives is causing the issue or if it could be something else. Any thoughts? Any one else do the same as us?

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
Having two drives will not cause you any issue. You will need to dig into the log files to see what is going on.

  • Application Catalog Issues SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I am trying to get the Application Catalog working.
Quick first question. Is there anyway to force the link in Software Centre to open IE rather than the default browser which is Chrome in my case? I suspect not but asking anyway.
My main issue however is the Certificates. Using a standard Certificate with only the FQDN as the DNS entry for the Alternative Name works. The issue with that however is as the site loads using the Netbios name I get a certificate error.
I have tried setting the website through Client Settings to use the FQDN however when I then try to load the site I get the 401 - Unauthorised Access message.
I have tried creating a new certificate with both the FQDN and Netbios name listed as DNS entries (This may be wrong as certificates are not my area) and setting the Client settings back to auto detect. This works so much as the site loads but says: "the
website cannot communicate with the server" in the main section of the screen but still has the Application Catalog theme.
I have tried a few things with different combos but I cant figure out what I am doing as IIS isn't my area either. Not sure why adding in the FWDN to the URL suddenly completely breaks the website with 401 message or why having a certificate with the Netbios
as well as the FWDN on the cert breaks communication.
Any help would be great. I have made no changes to the default settings other than what is listed above.
    Cheers,
    Zac Avramides

Like all things SCCM it appears this was a time issue. Still unsure as to why having the FQDN over the Netbias names creates 401 errors though. Would be nice to know why. Needed to allow around an hour after the certificate update on IIS in order for the
change to work. Simply added the both the FQDN and Netbios names as Common Names and DNS Entries.
Would still like to know if it is possible to direct Software Centre to IE rather than Chrome as Chrome will always have the error.

  • SCCM 2012 Application Catalog shows ALL advertised to a user independant of the OS they are using

Within SCCM 2007 if a package was to be made available only to the following platforms, it would only show up on those platforms... If a user was using Win XP and had a package meant ONLY for Win7 advertised to them, they would not see it.... It seems as
though in CM12, if a user has advertisements meant for XP, Win7, 64 bit, etc... everything appears in teh application catalog. I also understand that the software center is meant for application publishing and not for regular packages as they were in 2007...
Is there a way to make the packages meant for XP to only appear in the users catalog and NOT show the Win 7 packages?
As we are in the middle of a Win 7 migration, we need to manage this without a lot of work within AD...

    Hi,
In Configuration Manager 2012 packages and applications that are made available to users are always displayed in the Application Catalog, the platform requirement is not evaluated until the user actually tries to install the application then the requirements
are evaluated and the installation will not continue if there the requirements doesn't match the plattform.
Software Center will display all packages/programs and applications that are deployed as "available" to devices and not users. User targeted will always show up in the Application Catalog..

  • Renaming SCCM package application catalog using powershell

I am trying to change the application properties in SCCM Configmgr2012  of over 2000 applications, i need to have the Application Catalog name changed to match the package Name, for doing this i need to design a power shell script, since i am new to
power shell i am not sure what parameters i should use and appropriate functions to be used. if anybody has created something similar please share information on this. Hope i am clear with my question.
    Thanks.
    Example
    Path: Software library-Overview-Application Management-Applications-Adobe
    Application-Right click-properties-General Information tab-Name
    Adobe_Acrobat X Pro_10.0.0_01
    Application-Right click-properties-Application catalog-Localized application name Adobe_Acrobat X Pro -English

That the applications are not in the same folder is not a problem, as you can iterate through all applications without knowing the folder location. The problem is that if you want to script this there needs to be a starting point. Something that's the
same for all application names, so you can script something to get a specific part of the name.

  • SCCM 2012 Application Catalog Website Point role Status is critical

    Hi team,
In a client's SCCM 2012 R2 environment there is a Critical Icon and Status against one of two Application Catalog Website point roles. Looking at the Component status, there are no errors and all the components show as green.
Trying to find any warnings or errors in the messages for the Site System role doesnt show any errors, and I tried to reset counts but this has not changed the status.
I am not sure where to go from here. The application catalog itself works and is up. All the services are running. I am unsure as to where this error status comes from or what it pertains to.
     Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Please check portlctl.log and awebsctl.log to see if there is any error.
You could also check the thread below.
Symptom: Reporting Services Point Status (under Monitoring - System Status - Site Status) appears as Critical, No error messages in logs or status messages
Cause: 'Status' can be set to "2" for 'SMS SRS Reporting Point' in dbo.summarizer_sitesystem table in sql
    Resolution: > Run below query:
update dbo.summarizer_sitesystem set status = '0' where SiteSystem = '["Display=\\abc.local\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=ABC"]\\abc.local\' and role = 'SMS SRS Reporting Point'
    > It should set the status back to 0.
    > Check in console and errors should go away.
    > In case if value reverts back then check below namespace in wmi of site server:
    root\sms\site_pri\sms_sitesystemsummarizer
    > check the value for reporting services point, ideally it should be 0, let's say it's set to 2 there as well then remove role of reporting services point.
    > if entry for reporting services point goes away from both the places then it's good, you can re-install the reporting services point and it should work fine.
    > Let's say if value/values doesn't get removed from sql/wmi , remove them manually via queries and then go with uninstall and re-install.
    > then it should work and errors in console and common.log should go away.

  • SCCM 2012 application catalog items not showing up

I have an SCCM 2012 package which is being deployed to a device collection
The users are not seeing this package appear in the application catalog, nor is it appearing in the software centre
Can we no longer deploy (advertise) to device collections for the users to install when needed?

If it is not appearing in Software Center, then either the deployment policy has not been retrieved by the client, it is not in the target collection, or has been filtered out due to platform restrictions (or some other restriction like that). Or the client
is not able to communicate with the MP, which would be a cause of the first option (the policy has not been retrieved by the client). You'd need to check to ensure that all is working on that end.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 Application catalog website

    Architecture:
    SCCM 2012 SP1 installed on Windows 2012
    Application catalog website issue----->
In SMSAWEBSVCSetup.log we found "IIS component ASP net not installed please install it.
    Installlation failed Error Code:125"
whereas we have installed ASP.net already (registering ASp. net not supported please review the MS article: "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2736284 "
Let know me know what could be the cause.

All depending on how/what order you install the IIS components sometimes it's just to reinstall IIS. To me it sounds like the .Net Framework http-activation and non-activation features are missing.

  • SCCM 2012 - Wrong user in application catalog

    Hi everybody,
i´ve got some strange things with my SCCM 2012 Server.
The Software deployment works nearly perfect but there is a different user logged in the application catalog then logged into Windows.
Is there any chance to change the logged in user in the application catalog? Or anybody knows where SCCM takes the information to set the account?
    Thanks and Regards

Internet Explorer usually uses the credentials of the logged-in user to connect to the Application Catalog website. Any chance that there are pre-existing connection to the server hosting the app catalog?
    Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
I´ve made a hole IE10 reset and cleared the browser cache. There are no other existing connections to the Server.
Is there any chance to manually set the user used for the apllication catalog? Maybe in the UserProfile?

  • Are there any command line utilities(@client machine)/APIs to initate software installtion from SCCM 2012 application catalog?

I'm searching for any utilities / APIs available for SCCM 2012 Application catalog, to initiate a Application installation from a Script(From client machine). Got to know there Client programming is possible, but not able to get good examples. Please help

  • SCCM 2012: application catalog asks for credentials

    Hi,
Our application catalog was working fine for weeks. Now suddenly it asks for credentials, the sccm-server is added to trusted sites.
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

Disable it in client settings. Run a machine policy retrieval on an effected device. Confirm the policy run has complete in the policyevaluator.log. Check IE and confirm it's not trusted. Re-enable the setting and re-run process. Check it works or not.
Also ensure that nothing in GPO is overwriting what you have set in client settings.

  • Installation of Cumulative Update 2 for SCCM 2012 R2 causes Application Catalog error Cannot connect to the application server"

I have update my primary server with cu2.  Rebooted it when requested.  Now everything appears to work except Application Catalog.  I am getting HttpSendRequestSync failed errors in sms_awebsvc_control_manager and SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER.  Permissions
for the temp folder and the 2 service folders do have local service and system with full control.  I reregistered .net 4 with aspnet_regiis -i -enable.  Rebooted and no change.  application pool is running.  The install logs said it is
working.  SQL is happy.  I have reinstalled the two Application Catalog service points varous ways and they always come back with warm fuzzy logs stated they installed.

  • Application "Icons" no longer showing up in Application Catalog

We have around 500 "Applications" in our application catalog, and make heavy use of the Application Catalog for user self installations. Additionally, we had painstakingly gone through and added "icons" to every application to show up
in Software Center/Application Catalog to make things look "pretty" This had all been working as expected for over a year up until yesterday.
We were rolling out a new App Catalog Website/Web Service (2 servers) to replace our current. I removed the roles from the old one, added to the new. Everything works, software installs work, but no icons show up in the App Catalog. They DO however show
up fine in Software Center. I then reverted the change, putting the role(s) back on the previously working server. No dice, still no icons.
Been playing with it for almost a week, here is what I can discern:
No Icons show up at all, whether custom icons, shell32.dll default icons, or other.
All types do show up in software center after an install is initiated.
The permissions on the "AppIcons" folder are correct (RO to domain users), but the folder itself is empty
No Errors reported on any Roles, or Services (all green)
Modifying an app (removing and re-adding icon) has no effect, still doesn't show up in App Catalog.
Making a NEW app (with new icon) has no effect, still doesn't show up in App Catalog.
Is anyone familiar with the "How do icons get onto the app catalog" process? I assumed they all dumped to the AppIcons folder, but maybe not? Does anyone know what process/log controls this?
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions, as i want to make sure its not something stupid before blowing $$$ on a MS call.

Wanted to follow up and post a solution to this.
Working with MS support, we were able to identify it as a permissions issue.
Our implementation spans multiple domains, multiple forests, so we have to add in the additional Domains Users with permissions to the "ApplicationCatalog" and "Usericons" folders. I chose to do this via GPO as we have several app
catalog servers, and this seemed "more consistent" to me.
I mistakenly assumed that the privs were identical on both folders when I configured it in GPO. Though very similar, they aren't identical and there are a few extra privs for the SCCM account(s) on the UserIcons folder, which allows it to "write"
to that folder. Simple Fix. Whoops!
Working with MS, I learned a bit more about how the App Catalog works, that I haven't seen written anywhere, so I'll include some of that here. All icons are stored in the SCCM database, and are accessible via the primary site server and WMI. However,
they are "cached" on each application catalog in the appicons folder. This process doesn't happen on a schedule, but rather happens when a user opens the application catalog (on demand). Any icons not retrieved and cached, are cached at that time.
In my case, I had made the GPO change 6 months prior, but no "new" icons had been added, we had been reusing them from app to app (Firefox icon stays the same, and so on). Therefore, it appeared to still be working fine and all icons showed up. In
my case, When I rebuilt the server(s) they needed to "re cache" the icons. When I reverted the app catalog to the old server to revert the change, it also had to "re-cache" the icons as they were deleted when the role was removed, which
    was denied.
Hopefully this will help someone in the future if they ever have a similar issue.
