  • Driver and Driver Package migration from 2007 to 2012 R2 query

    Dear Team,
I am in the process of migrating the drivers and DriverPackage from SCCM2007 to CM2012 . I am following the below steps and also i am getting below warning message while doing Driver migration.
    1) Copied all the driver source path from SCCM2007 to 2012 folders and shared the same.
    2) By using migration Utility , i have migrated all the drivers from 2007 to 2012 .
    3) After the migration i have changed the dirver source path at CM2012 side pointing to new CM12 driver source path.
    4) I have started the DriverPackage migration.
    5) After the DriverPackage migration , i have changed to DriverPackage Source path at CM12 side pointing to new CM12 dirverpackage source.
Please help me my steps and procedure and suggest if anything i need to do extra .....
    My question and observation :
    1) During the driver migration , i got a warning message like . Some drivers not able to migrate due to unsupported by CM2012 .
        a) Is there any way i can find unsupported model drivers before or after the migration
        b) Is there any other process to migrate Unsupported drivers from 2007 to 2012 other than manual import or script basis
    2) After the DriverPackage migration and after the change in the DriverPackage source path. I am not seeing any folder creating in DriverPackage new source path (I understood the reason).
       a) Is there any way i can recreate those folders in new source path after the DriverPackage Migration ?
       b) What is the best process for the DriverPacakge migration from 2007 to 2012 regarding the SourcePath.
    Thanks in advance....

  • Some clients migrated from 2007 is presented with the self signed certificate in 2013

I have migrated from 2007 to 2013. I did a couple of test migrations and on the ones with domain member computers Outlook is giving a certificate warning. The certificate they are presented with is the default self signed certificate on the 2013 server.
Even though I have added a trusted public certificate to Exchange and checked of to use With IIS.
I see that the default certificate is also checked of to use With IIS and it cant be removed in ECS. Shouldnt this be removed from IIS all together when adding a New certificate? And why does some Clients gets presented With the self signed and some With
the Public? For instance owa is presented With the Public cert. Also and Outlook I tested from outside the domain.
    Regards

Only the UCC certificate should be bound to IIS.
Are any clients using POP or IMAP, which also use SMTP?  In this case clients can be presented with the "wrong" certificate as well.

  • SCOM Side By Side Migration from 2007 to 2012

We current have SCOM 2007R2 (6.1.7221) installed and we plan to install SCOM 2012 R2 (latest release) in a side-by-side migration.  If we deploy the SCOM 2012R2 Client to existing systems being monitored, can we multi-home the clients to both SCOM 2007R2
and SCOM 2012R2? Are there any version requirements or issues that we could face during the migration since we on (6.1.7221)?
Again, this is a side by side migration path and not an upgrade to the SCOM 2007 servers. :) I see other forum topics almost just like this, but don't see any supporting documentation.

  • Site Code for SCCM Clients installed from Secondary Site Server

    Hello,
We have started the implementation of SCCM 2012 R2 at our network. We have setup a Primary site (JFO) server & pushed out the installation of SCCM clients to the local subnet. Things went fine.
We have installed a Secondary site (ATC) at a remote network. We have tested client installation in the installation wizard we specify to install the client from the Secondary server. When SCCM client installed from the Secondary server, the site
code that appears on the client in the control panel->Configuration Manager client settings is the site code of the primary site and not the secondary site.
    Is this behavior is normal

Ultimately, secondary sites do *not* manage clients and so will never be assigned to the secondary site. However, do note that resources in the console that represent systems that do not have the client agent may show the site code of the secondary site
if they fall within a boundary group associated with that secondary site. This is done so that client push can be initiated from the correct site. More gory details at http://blog.configmgrftw.com/secondary-sites-and-boundary-groups/

Fatal Error: Could not find Feature AnalyticsLinks in sharepoint 2010 while migration from 2007 site using stsadm command

    Hi ,
Firstly, I need to verify the followings:
Whether you created a feature called AnalyticsLinks and activatated it at SharePoint 2007 site.
Whether you installed the feature at SharePoint 2010 site.
Please deactivate the feature AnalyticsLinks, then migrate SharePoint 2007 site to SharePoint 2010, compare the result.
Also , please check whether you have installed the feature AnalyticsLinks at your SharePoint 2010 site. If not, please install and activate it, compare the result.

  • Migration from 2007.1 to 10

    Hi,
Does anyone know if migration from 2007.1 to ATG 10 needs to step up to ATG 9 first? That's a logical step but in my Migration Kit, I found DB scripts that takes your schema from 2007.1 to 10.
Does anyone know where the ATG 2007.1 to ATG 9 migration document can be found? The link is broken on the old communities site.

  • Migration from 2007 and Archive Mailbox PST import question

Our enterprise will be migrating from Exchange 2007 SP3 to Exchange 2013 CU3 very shortly. Exchange 2013 is set up and I am in coexistance mode currently. Everything is working fine with the legacy redirection, I have tested some mailbox migrations and they
work fine. We currently use Mimosa Nearpoint as a third party email archive product.
As part of this migration from 2007 to 2013, we plan on moving away from Mimosa Nearpoint and utilizing the Exchange 2013 Archive Mailbox feature. We will give each user an Archive Mailbox. We have the ability to export the users existing archive out of
NearPoint to .PST files and then migrating them directly into the users Archive Mailbox using the "New-MailboxImportRequest -IsArchive" powershell commandlet. This has been tested and works fine with one very important exception.
When I export from Nearpoint, I have to export the entire contents of the archive, I cannot set date ranges. So when I do an export, it also contains the contents of the user's mailbox. I have managed folder policies in place in the Exchange 2007 environment
which delete all contents of the mailbox older than 60 days, but when I import the .PST to the archive, it imports ALL items into the Archive Mailbox. So I have 60 days worth duplication of items.
It is my understanding that if I imported the Archive .PST directly into the users production mailbox in the 2013 side, that it would not import duplicate items. I am trying to find out if there is any process which will do the same thing with me importing
directly into the users Archive Mailbox.
    Thanks you,

    Hi,
We used a third patry email archive product to export to .pst files, so it is too hard to say that whether it cause this issue.
However, I found a method to delete the duplicate items from our mailbox via MFCMAPI Tool.
Please make sure that the Exchange Server mailbox has been backed up first.
    Details in the following KB:
How to remove duplicate folders in Outlook when connected to an Exchange Server mailbox
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509983
I also found a script to remove duplicate items.
This script will scan each folder of a given mailbox and removes duplicate items from those folders. You can specify how the items should be deleted and what items to process, e.g. mail items or appointments. Sample usage is after a misbehaving synchronization
tool creates duplicate items or (accidental) import of PST file with duplicate items.

  • Windows Migration from 2003 to 2012

    Hi,
When I try to complile my vb6 code, it gives me "ActiveX component cannot create object" in half way of compiling. Advice me to get over the error.

    Hi,
Did you have any migration issue during migration from 2003 to 2012?
There are  several causes, for example
    The class isn't registered.
A DLL required by the object can't be used, either because it can't be found, or it was found but was corrupted.
For more detail information, you could refer to this article:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa231060(v=vs.60).aspx
Meanwhile, the issue is more related to VB6 code issue, so i suggest that you may ask in vb forums for more support:

  • Best practice for client migration from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2012 R2?

Can anyone advise what the most recommended method is for migrating SMS 2003 clients (Windows 7) to SCCM 2012 R2?
    Options are:
    1. SMS package to deploy ccmclean.exe to uninstall SMS 2003 client. Deploy SCCM 2012 R2 client via SCCM console push.
    2. Simply push SCCM client from console installing over existing SMS 2003 client.
I am finding some folks saying this is ok to do but others saying no it is not supported by Microsoft. Even if it appears to work I do not want to do it if it is not supported by Microsoft. Can anyone provide a definitive answer?
    3. Use a logon script or Group Policy preference to detect the SMS client and delete it using CCMclean and then install the SCCM client.
    Appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

    Hi,
    >>I am finding some folks saying this is ok to do but others saying no it is not supported by Microsoft. Even if it appears to work I do not want to do it if it is not supported by Microsoft. Can anyone provide a definitive answer?
I haven't seen any official document records the option 2 method. There is only upgrading from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 directly.
I think you could use a logon script or Group Policy preference to detect the SMS client and delete it using CCMclean.exe. Then use SCCM 2012 to discover these computers and push clients to them.

  • "Migrating" computer variables from 2007 to 2012

I'm in the process of migrating server clients from a 2007 to 2012 environment. The computer objects all have quite a few computer variables associated with the objects that are used during OSD task sequences.
When we do a "bare-metal" build, the computer objects are deleted and recreated, and the variables are re-populated from a reference source of truth on the new object. So no problem there.
For the migration though, I was going to install the CM2012 client (basically upgrade the client from 2007) on the servers which will then have them register with the CM2012 site. However when this happens the variables won't be applied to the 2012
    computer object.
I have a few ideas to resolve this, but was wondering if anyone else had already dealt with this situation?
    Some thoughts I was considering:
1: Orchestrator job that identifies "new" computer objects in 2012 and regenerates the variables from the source of truth
    2. Powershell/WMI/VBScript that reads the variables from the 2007 computer object and "copies" them to the 2012 object
Any other thoughts or suggestions welcome
    Scott.

Thanks Torsten, I do appreciate the replies, but I will have to respectfully disagree with the question being answered perfectly.
I had asked "...was wondering if anyone else had already dealt with this situation?". I don't actually see how an answer of "I've never done this, but use powershell" is the perfect answer. This would also not serve to help any other
people that might come across this post looking for a similar solution.  I had marked that post as "helpful", but did not "mark as answer" because it didn't actually offer anything beyond what my first post already stated.
However, I'm not looking to argue. I'll post any powershell scripts or other things I end up using to help anyone else who comes across this post. There are far too many posts in the TechNet forums that just seem to get automatically closed as answered
when there is no real answer provided.

  • Active Directory Migration from 2003 to 2012 Process Flow

We are planning to migrate from Windows Server 2003 AD to Windows server 2012 Server for 6000 Users,
Can any one suggest  on Following .
1)What is the Best and Safe Way to do Migration
    2) What are the Precautions should take,
    3) How much downtime it will take,
    4) If migration Failed how we can revert to Earlier
    5) How to do Migration Step by Step
    Current Environment:
    Domain Having  One PDC(server 2003 R2) and 8 ADC(Server 2003 R2) in Different Locations
PDC having All FSMO Roles and Global Catalog
Exchange server 2007 was integrated to Active Directory
And some Application are integrated to  Active Directory

    1) I would recommend you first run a test of the steps in test before you do this in production.  Otherwise your production becomes test.
    2) By doing in test, you have taken a large amount of the risk out of the upgrade since, in test you should be able to look for any unforseen issues.  The easiest way to test is to build a virtual fence from production and clone the DC's and member
servers that you want to test against (This is assuming you are running in a virtual environment).  Ensure that you production environment is error free.
    http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/paulbergson/archive/2009/01/26/troubleshooting-active-directory-issues.aspx
    3) There should be no downtime at all, you can just extend the schema and then promote a new 2012 DC (I would recommend R2 if you can).
    4) Before you do the schema extension you should take 2 backups on two different DC's.  Taking two gives you less of a chance of a problem if one of the backups fails.
    5)
    Take a backup
    Extend the schema
Join the 2012 R2 servers to the domain
Add the ADDS role to the 2012 R2 member servers
    Promote the 2012 R2 DC's
Transfer the FSMO roles to the 2012 R2 DC's (Not required but recommended)
If you want to retire the 2003 DC's, then you will need to make sure that any clients pointing to the 2003 DC's for DNS are pointing to other DC's.
If you do retire the 2003 then you can think about updating the DFL and FFL of the domain and forest.

    Regards,

You have to install update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2861663 to your SCCM server to adds support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Other then that should be the same as other client (Push\Logon Script\GPO etc.)
