SCCM client not registering on some machines

Hello,
I am running across a strange problem that is only affecting some machines. We are imaging via OSD task sequence, 2012 R2 and some machines do not register properly with SCCM. When I say not registering, I mean it doesn't get its Site code and
missing most of its actions. Most machines that we image work fine, but the odd one doesn't register using the same task sequence that we use on other PC's. When I watch the task sequence steps go through I noticed that right after the installing SCCM
client step it boots right into windows. Basically skipping the steps we have set afterwards, the next step is to install some software (adobe reader, SCEP, and a few others).
I also noticed it seems to happen more often with certain model machines. I have an HP Z420 and an HP Folio 9470m. These consistently fail to register everytime I image.
I've tried quite a few fixes I found online, but nothing has worked as of yet. The most recent fix I tried was to delete the hardware inventory and then rebuild it. That did not work. Entering SMSMP= in the Setup Windows and Config manager step also did
not work. I also tried entering in our DNS server into the registry under the CCM directory. It appears something is happening during the client install (or not happening). But why only certain machines? Most work fine.
Our fix is to simply re-install the client after imaging, this solution has been working for us but I want to find a more permanent solution.
Any ideas?

Jason,
We have this line in the Setup Config Manager,
PATCH=C:\_SMSTaskSequence\OSD\PNS00002\Updates\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2970177-x64.msp
Keep in mind, that this same task sequence works fine with most other machines. It almost appears to be model specific. Certain models definitely have more issues registering than others.
I'm still fairly new to SCCM, so if you need more from the logs let me know.

  • Can not register a new machine with Updatemanager

    Hi,
    I just install a new machine with Solaris 10 using a Flash image and Live Upgrade. The original machine from we create the Flash image was registered succesfull using Update Manager.
    Now, when I try to register the new machine, the applications ask me the user and password, but do not makes anything. The dialog freeze. The only way to stop the Update Manager is killing them (at the end is the full java error stack).
    I try with sconadm,
    sconadm register -a -r /var/tmp/registration.profile
    Unsuccessfull too, with the same stack error (Caused by: javax.management.InstanceNotFoundException: ).
    I'm bored with the Solaris patch system: all the weekend was saying error 500 for all my other registered machines, and now I can not register a new machine....
    This system fails all the time.. Is runing under W2K3 server???
    Any Idea?
    Thanks in advance.
    H.

    Well,
    The problem was a Memory problem: The swap file was misconfigured. Once the system reboots with the correct swap configuration I was able to register the machine.
    Anyway, the problem to connect with SunSolve is continous, but it is other point of discussion.
    I hope this solution can help people with similar problems.

  • SCCM Client installation to only Online machines from All Systems Device collection through Client Push

    Hi,
    How can we create a device collection based on only online machines , than use that collection to install the sccm client through client push method.
    Shailendra Dev

    You can run a ping report and then create a collection from only the online machines:
    Ping Report Script (Put the machine list in "pclist.txt" in the same folder):
    Const ForReading = 1
    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    If not objFSO.FileExists("Pclist.txt") THEN
    wscript.echo "File not found,"&_
    vbcrlf&"with a hard return at the end of each line."
    wscript.quit
    end if
    tempobj="temp.txt"
    Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile("Pclist.txt", ForReading)
    logfile="results.csv"
    Set ofile=objFSO.CreateTextFile(logfile,True)
    strText = objTextFile.ReadAll
    objTextFile.Close
    wscript.echo "Ping starting"
    ofile.WriteLine ","&"Ping Report -- Date: " & Now() & vbCrLf
    arrComputers = Split(strText, vbCrLF)
    for each item in arrcomputers
    objShell.Run "cmd /c ping -n 1 -w 1200 " & item & " >temp.txt", 0, True
    Set tempfile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(tempobj,ForReading)
    Do Until tempfile.AtEndOfStream
    temp=tempfile.readall
      striploc = InStr(temp,"[")
            If striploc=0 Then
                strip=""
            Else
                strip=Mid(temp,striploc,16)
                strip=Replace(strip,"[","")
                strip=Replace(strip,"]","")
                strip=Replace(strip,"w"," ")
                strip=Replace(strip," ","")
            End If
            If InStr(temp, "Reply from") Then
                 ofile.writeline item & ","&strip&","&"Online."
            ElseIf InStr(temp, "Request timed out.") Then
                 ofile.writeline item &","&strip&","&"No response (Offline)."
            ELSEIf InStr(temp, "try again") Then
                 ofile.writeline item & ","&strip&","&"Unknown host (no DNS entry)."

  • DaRT with Windows 8.1 not working on some machines

    Problem: x64 bit DaRT8/801/8.1 not recognizing the OS and utlities are greyed out/unavailable on some machines.
    System: Windows 8.1 x64
    Steps taken:
    Tried different DaRT toolset versions, set BIOS SATA operation to different modes, tried both UEFI and Legacy mode secure boot mode off/on, created the DaRT image with Windows 8 installation media and Windows 8.1, tested the DaRT boot iso on Virtual Machines
    and it worked, all the utilities available.
    Eventually gave up and booted into MiniXP from Hirens boot CD and reset the local account password with NTpass tool.
    Why would DaRT work on some machines and not on others?

    How was the SATA configured originally? If it was configured for RAID/AHCI and the DaRT disk does not have the RAID/AHCI driver the operating system may not be detectable, even if the mode is changed in the firmware.

    I have created a Plugin for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X.
    As per the licence it has to work with both the version.
    My plugin gets loaded in Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X versions only in development machines and few of the testing machines and My plugin works fine in these machine as per the task it has to do.
    I tried to test My plugin in some machines which has same configuration as that of the machines where My plugin was able to load, but i could see My plugin loaded only in some machines and all other machine its not getting loaded.
    Please some one let me know why is this happening and how to overcome this. I think i am missing something to load My Plugin but in some machines i was able to load My plugin without doing any settings other than copying My plugin's .api file to Reader Plugin's folder.
    Thanks in advance. Please some one help me out.

    Hi Irosenth ,
    I was getting the below error when i saw the EventViewer.
    Error : Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins\MyPlugin.api". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",typ e="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
    Now i added the required Redistributables while packing all the files and tested it in target machine..
    All is Well Now..., Thanks you Very Much. ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Chetan

  • Home page not loading in some machines

    I develop one site & released to the server but some
    machine home page not loading.
    We can see the message done only.
    Is it possible to load the page without the Flash

    You can include alternative content for people who do not
    have the Flash
    player. Essentially, you write the site twice--once in HTML
    and once in
    Flash/Flex. This is one reason why people will often advise
    you not to put
    mission-critical functionality into anything that requires
    the Flash player,
    unless you're 100% certain that all of the users who need to
    see your
    content will have it.

  • E71 Nokia Email client not registering other accou...

    I am using nokia E71. i ran the email setup wizard, using nokia email client i have configured it for my hotmail accounty. and then from some reason i have removed it. now when i am setting up the same email id using the nokia email client its always saying " that email is already registered with another nokia messaging account". and when i goto the email.nokia.com and try login using the same email id/pwd it says id/pwd do not match neither it let me go for the option of forgot pwd, there it says that "we cant send you the temp pwd, try again later". i have been to many forums and seems like this probleme is quite common. any help would be highly appriciateable. thanks.

    I had the same frustratingly slow performance issues rendering the phone almost un-usable other than voice calls. Every thing that required to go to menu and load something was just **bleep** slow.
    I however resolved all issues by changing the messaging settings to use memory card for emails instead of phone memory.
    Do the following and instantly your phone will come alive again.
    Menu - Communications - Messaging - Mail for Exchange - Settings - Other - Memory in Use - Memory Card
    Do the same for other mail accounts.
    MAGIC !!!

  • SCCM Client not installing after imaging the computer. Where to start?

    Hi,
    When I image or re-image a new machine, it will finish successfully but the client will be set to "NO" regardless of how many days I leave it there.
    We delete the machine name both on SCCM and Active Directory prior to any image deployment.  Therefore, the imaging process is treated as new.  Autodiscovery is also enabled except for Network Discovery which we never enabled ever.
    We are running SCCM 2012 SP1.  Windows 7 both 32 and 64 bit.
    If we install the client manually on the workstations, it is fine but it has to be automatic on the server side.
    Pls. help.  Thanks!

    You are right on.  Thank you thank you!  The client is stuck in provisining mode.  This helped me understand the cause of the problem.
    However, the solution of setting the provision from true to false in the registry, didn't change the "client install" status from No to Yes.  Also, the restart option is already set to the default operating system...
    So  what I did (and currently testing right now) is disabled the restart option to see if that's the reason it is getting messed up.
    Will follow up shortly.

  • SCCM Client Not updated in the Primary site

    HI,
    SSCM client is installed on the target server all the necessary directory are created on the remote system ex:- ccm ,ccmcache, ccmsetup etc. and the Configuration Manager settings is also avalable on the "control panel" of the remote system.
    All the necessary services are checked and found that those are running. Now please let me know what is the possible reason for this subjected issue.
    Server Details:- System Center 2012 R2 Installed.

  • LAF and Java Plugin not opening in some machines

    Hi all,
    I have strange problem in my forms 10g application. We have implemented LAF in our Forms 10g application that requires to use Sun Java Plugin.
    In formsweb.cfg, the sun java plugin version that would be downloaded is - 1.4.2. For most of my users they have version 1.5.0_13 installed already. All users are able to run the application without any problems.
    Only in one machine, it does not open up the form applet and instead opens a blank form on IE version 7.
    I have other machines with same config Windows XP and IE 7 and they work fine. They too have the Javaplugin version 1.5.0_13 installed and it does not prompt the user to download 1.4.2 version.
    Can anyone help me to fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    RK

    Thanks. But It is not solely about LAF. It is just that my form applet is not getting dowloaded as soon as user opens application on browser. It is the whole applet nothing about LAf. But still I would send the email.
    Thanks,
    RK

  • 'ORAOLEDB.ORACLE' provider is not registered on local machine.

    Operating System: Windows XP Pro 64-bit
    Oracle: 11G Standard Edition One (32-bit)
    App: VB.NET (32-bit)
    Attempts at fixing problem: 1) Set permissions for users ORACLE_HOME folder as advised. 2) Ran REGSVR32 on ORAOLEDB11.DLL in "BIN" folder of ORACLE_HOME.
    Other Info: App runs fine on Windows XP Pro 32-bit machine with Oracle XE (32-bit).
    Thanks.

    Do you know if the IIS virtual directory in which you are running is configured to support Anonymous access? If it is then you may be running into a permissions problem with the "IUSR_<machineName>" account not having sufficient priveleges to create an instance of the OraOLEDB.Oracle provider.
    You could test this by temporarily adding the IUSR_ account to the admin role. If this works, you may want to consider exploring the COM+ technology that allows you to specify a user other than the one defined by IIS for running system level operations (such as establishing a DB connection ).

  • The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 (64) vs MS Office 2007)

    We just have switched our local server from 32-bit to 64-bit machine and now we have Windows Server 2008 R2 Service
    Pack 1 with MS Office 2007. On server we are running an application in ASP.Net 3.5 using visual studio
    2008. All users have 32-bit windows 7 and MS Office 2007.
    when user tries to import data from Excel to Database (SQL Server 2005), error comes as
    "microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0 provider is not registered on local machine".
    I have tried a solution by installing Access Database Engine 2007 Office System Driver on the Server, but the error
    was same. Now what should I do to resolve this problem??? Should we install Office 2010 64-bit on the Server or is there any other solution???

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
    the file can be made in excel 2007, try to install:2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components

  • SCCM Client Installation Error and compmgr service issues

    Hi dudes,
    Hope you all are good. I am getting stuck in SCCM client installation. I have SCCM 2007 R3 setup. It's working perfect but recently getting errors in
    sccm client installation after facing some viruses issues in my environment.
    I search on that error but nothing found any relevant information related
    to the below error. I tried to manually installing the client but getting the error ccmsetup.exe is not a valid 32 bit application :(. Also while trying to start the configmgr service manager in tool box it gives the below snapshot error. Any help relevant
    to the below error very meaningful for me.
    Regards,
    Mohsin

    Hi Jason,
    Thank You for your response. Yes i tried it to manually start the service on client machine but it give the below error,
    For component service manager, yes we are going forward to the restoration process using VM restore(as sccm is deployed on a VM and we take the full vm backup).
