SCCM Endpoint Protection Removal of Trend Micro OfficeScan v10 assistance

Hi,
I just thought i might ask this,
i see that Endpoint Protection has the ability to uninstall "Trend Micro OfficeScan"
We have "Trend Micro OfficeScan 10", we have protected ours with a password,
i would just like to know when i deploy the Endpoint Agent if it still has the ability to uninstall it altough it has a password connected to it
or would i need to manually uninstall it,
On big issue i have is that the password is one of 25 passwords also.
any assistance will do on this.
Kind Regards

It should be able to uninstall TrendMicro. The best thing is to test it against a collection with a few devices. You can control the SCEP installation by creating a custom client setting and deploy that to a test collection - it doesn't have to be a big
bang

  • Trend Micro Officescan crashes MAX Settings

    Hello,
we use Trend Micro Officescan on our testmachines. With office scans last update the Measurement and Automation Explorer forgets all alias name of LXI and USB devices, when the computer is rebooted. With import the settings image in MAX everthing runs smoothly again. I know that MAX save its settings in something like a database. Are there any known problems withe MAX database and virus scanners?
Due to company policy I may not configure trend micro ...
    Best Regards,
    Chris

For the Project Settings, choose Edit>Project Settings, and you can see them all, with the General Tab (most important), Capture (should not affect your Project), Video Rendering (again, should not have much info for you now), and Default Timeline (defines how the Timeline is set up initially, and not of any real use here).
Now, and with the Source Files and Project on your E:\, or your external HDD, how much free-space is on your C:\. That can be very important, especially as with only 2GB RAM, you WILL be using your Windows Page File (Virtual Memory) often, and heavily.
Now, though this is covered in one of the links in the PrE Crashing & Hanging article (Memory & Resources), how is your Page File managed, and is it located on your C:\?
Also, is your Project file (the PREL) located with the Source Files, on either E:\, or your external HDD? I know that you have tried several locations. Also, where are your Scratch Disks (Edit>Preferences) set to? Those can be very large, and if one has them pointed to a nearly full HDD, can crash things.
Last, at least for now, is your F:\ your external HDD? If so, it is formatted FAT-32, and that limits file sizes to ~ 4GB. This ARTICLE will tell you how to Convert a FAT-32 HDD to NTSF.
    Good luck,

  • Deploying SCCM EndPoint Protection Client with updates?

Am using SCCM 2012 r2 and need to get the EndPoint Protection Client built int o my image.
If I deploy it post-imaging the laptop, how do I get the latest definitions?
Because it shows up with a red icon in the system tray and I have to go in and manually update the definitions after I install it.
Is there a task that could be done in an OSD to update the definitions?
Otherwise only way I can think of is preinstall and update and get the full scan done before capturing an image of my system to deploy to other systems.

    Hi,
If you use Endpoint Protection on all computer including the latest definitions in your Build and Capture saves time.
Otherwise ,the command line in windows works fine ,trigger an update of SCEP at the end of the task sequence:
    "%Program Files%\Microsoft Security Client\mpcmdrun.exe" -SignatureUpdate

  • Trend Micro OfficeScan 10 - External log server

    Hi All,
Has anyone ever configured TrendMicro OfficeScan to send logs to an external log server? i cannot find the settings nor any documentation anywhere!
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

I posted a while back about choosing a new SAN and I ended up choosing aSataBEASTsince it was anice balance of expandability, simplicity, and price. Well the unit I received was faulty and I can't find another one in my price range so I'm back to square one.Can anyone suggest a storage expansion device? We're a small manufacturing facility so having the latest and greatest isn't a priority, especially when funds are quite limited. To start off I have six256GB Samsung 850 Prosand twelveHitachi Ultrastar 2TB 64MB 7200RPM 3.5" (Enterprise) SATAIII 6.0Gb/s HardDrive. • Using the pre-configured SCCM 2012 SP1 endpoint protection templates for Exchange 2010?

I am looking to update the exclusions for SCCM Endpoint Protect clients performing server AV protection on Exchange 2010 nodes.
Within SC there are a number of pre-defined templates, including ones for Exchange 2007 / 2010. However when I analyse these they do not appear to list all the exclusions that the Exchange product team define on TechNet -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332342(v=exchg.141).aspx
    So do I;
1 - Use the template as it has been verified by Microsoft for using with Exchange 2010 and it covers all I need to exclude?
2 - Edit the template, adding in the additional exclusions as defined by the Exchange product team?
Would whichever logic I use apply to other templates, such as SQL, SharePoint, etc as well?
    Thank you
    Alan

As I cut and pasted the xml file I noticed the following comment that I had missed before..........
            <!-- Exchange -->
<!-- Exchange Server 2010 exclusions are defined in TechNet bb332342 -->
<!-- Although the exclusions defined in the article work, testing showed that they exceed what is necessary-->
Still going with adding the full recommended list from TechNet though

  • Endpoint not removing Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hi there,
We're using SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 and deploying Endpoint. Endpoint is not installing though. In our client settings the Endpoint Protection component "Automatically
remove previously installed antimalware software before Endpoint Protection is installed"
    is set to YES
When I look in the logs in EndpointProtectionAgent.log there is this message:
System Center Endpoint Protection installation error. One or more programs on your computer conflict with System Center Endpoint Protection. To install System Center Endpoint Protection, you must remove the following programs and then run the installation
wizard again. Error code:0x8004FF52. Programs: Microsoft Security Essentials
That surprises me, as the following Microsoft page - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4acd0c29-e453-4863-8194-e479263291c8 clearly shows that "Microsoft
Security Essentials v1" will be uninstalled.
    The version of Microsoft
Security Essentials on our client machines is 1.0.2498.0
Any idea why this is not working?
    Thanks,

  • Cisco ACS / Trend Micro Office / Cisco Trust Agent

We currently utilize Cisco ACS Server and Trend Micro OfficeScan and would like to deploy Cisco Trust Agent 2.0 on a few laptops.  Has anyone been involved with such a deployment?  If so, any suggestions, documentation, suggestions?
    Thanks,

CTR uses the admin shares to connect to a windows server.
Depending on how you configured it: It will try a nmap fingerprint scan, use static OS mappings or perform a level 2 scan by using the admin shares.
If you are using it through firewalls, the fingerprinting does not work properly.
You will also notice that since version 2.0.3 there hasn't been any new agents developed for it. Also 2.0.5 started to upgrade all port scans etc whereas before it didn't.
I would look to speaking to your cisco account team about the next version of Cisco IPS instead.

  • SCCM and ForeFront Endpoint Protection point site system role

Thanks for looking at this......I am working with SCCM 2012, and ForeFront Endpoint Protection has been set up as an Endpoint Protection point site system role.  Up to now we just haven't had to mess with it much, it just has worked.  I
have been busy packaging applications for the eager public. I have one pc that has had the Endpoint client self destruct.  Had to remove it via the control panel.  I next did a machine policy retrieval and evaluation cycle (among others) and sccm
shows that it is aware that this particular machine needs FEP. It lists it as "To Be Installed".  How long will this take?  I have things set for "as soon as possible".   Am I at the mercy of Sccm?  Also, is there
a way to force the install?  Thanks for any light you can shed on this!

This will depend on your SCCM client policy settings to allow SCEP installation outside of maintenance windows (if you have any).
It will also depend if you are using 2 hour deployment "randomizer" option in your SCCM client policy.
Lastly, you can install it with BITS that have already been downloaded with SCCM client install.

  • Overview of SCCM and Endpoint Protection...

I'm very new to the whole SCCM environment and I'm having the damnedest time finding just basic information concerning SCCM and it's separate modules. I have three basic questions that I hope someone here can answer before I move forward with anything to
    do with SCCM:
    1. My main need at this time is to deploy the Endpoint Protection portion to all of the machines in our Domain. Does EP require the Configuration Manager to get the central administration I'm looking for?
    2. Can modules be added to SCCM any time? For example, if I were able to just get the Endpoint Protection installed now, could I add the rest of the suite later?
    3. Where can I find installation instructions for SCCM, Configuration Manager and Endpoint Protection?
    Thanks
Brian Brehart Network Administrator SurePayroll, Inc.

    1.  Yes, to manage Endpoint Protection, you need ConfigMgr.
    2.  ConfigMgr has many different roles (but not separate modules) which can be implemented later like Application Management and Operating System Deployment.
    3.  You can find detailed step-by-step guides that are meant to help a person learn the product.
    http://gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.com/2013/02/sccm-2012-sp1-step-by-step-guide.html
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4045-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-step-by-step-guides/
However, these guides are not prescriptive for the real world, just learning.  ConfigMgr is arguably one of the most powerful and complex tools that Microsoft sells.  Consider engaging an experienced consultant to architect and implement it, and/or
take an in person training course.
    I hope that helps,

  • Endpoint Protection Role fails after SCCM 2012 SP1 upgrade 0x8004ff84

We have been in the process upgrading our SCCM RTM to SP1 in order to get to R2 in the end. After upgrading the PRimary Site server to SP1 it seems the Endpoint protection update did not succeed. I removed the role and after that tried it to install again,
    results below.
    EPSetup.log

<09/26/14 14:25:01> SMSEP could not be installed. The return code was -2147156092
    <09/26/14 14:25:02> ~RoleSetup().
When I manually try to run the SCEPInstall.exe setup asks for certain msi files it cannot find. Anyone seen this behaviour before? I'm not able to find information on this one.

It seems the uninstallation of the current SCEP client fails. It uses the new SCEPinstall.exe version to do the uninstall which fails. I copied the old version from another computer and used that to do the uninstall manually scepinstall.exe /u
It asks a few times for a location to find the msi files used to do the uninstallation. You have to point at a temporary map created at the drive root location. The Uninstall succeeds.
Now the Endpoint Protection role can be added again and will also succeed.

  • SCCM 2012 EndPoint Protection migration

I have the old ConfigMgr 2012 name " BACKOFFICE" it is currently managing all the EndPoint Protection for all workstations/servers.
I now have new ConfigMgr 2012 called "SCCM"  I just installed ForeFront EndPoint Protection and configured the Custom Client Deviec EndPoint Protection to roll out to workstations. What is the best practice to remove old ForeFront EndPoint
Protection client from old site name and install new one?
    1. Do I have to manually uninstall EndPoint Client in control panel for each computer? or is there a way to just uninstall for all computers using the old COnfigMgr 2012 "BACKOFFICE"
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi !
You have to reassign the desired clients.
    It can be scripted:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc146558.aspx
Otherwise, you could install again the client on your targets, with the following options: force install and site assignement.
You can refer to this link:

  • Remove system center endpoint protection (scep) from clients

    Hi,
I enabled scep for my whole domain, now I would like to remove some clients of smaller servers which have less performance (also specific template policy for performance scep didn't help).
I created a new client setting in which I enabled the scep for a specific collection only, the default has no scep enabled.
However, scep is not uninstalled for clients which are not member of the specific collection.
Please advise howto remove scep clients.
    S.

One more thing, off the record, do you need to create auto deployment rules of SCEP, according to windows-noob.com you do.
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4466-using-sccm-2012-rc-in-a-lab-part-5-enable-the-endpoint-protection-role-and-configure-endpoint-protection-settings
Somewhere else I see that updates are done automatically (CBT Nuggets instruction video of SCEP install).
These updates are slowing down my machines: although I selected superseded: no, in updates, it downloads day per day definition updates and applies them. Whereas I would think it downloads only the latest definition file ....

  • How do i uninstall this latest version? I have trend micro anti virus and it said you are incompatible at this time. you did not give me a choice of opting out so I am opting out of using firefox since my protection is now gone.

Several days ago firefox wanted to upgrade and I refused because trend micro was not supported. Today it automatically made the change. I have trend micro and your message said it would not work. I would think that an antivirus program would be one of the most important features to be able to work. Either fix it or tell me how to roll back to the other version. If you cannot I am dumping firefox and going back to internet explorer. So for now I am closing this window and using IE untill I hear from you

I've had almost every issue you've had.  Finally on Friday the screen blacked out.  It was obviously still charged, since I could hear the message ring, but when I tried to light up the display it didn't light so I was unable to get to it unless I removed the battery.  Then, as soon as the display timed out, I couldn't get it lit up again without removing battery.  I had the same slow movements throughout the display as well as slow text messaging.  Every issue you had other than the alarm clock (that always worked well).
I took it in yesterday and, after over an hour spent there with a 'professional', I still had no answers.  He told me to come home and copy everything from my sd card to my computer, then re-format my card.  Well, my phone didn't even recognize that I had an sd card installed!!  Nor did my computer!
So then I got to experimenting...I removed the card and viola!!!!!!  The phone worked GREAT!  It's never worked so fast!  I then installed my husbands sd card to see if it was my phone's card reader or my card.  Turns out that the phone still worked great with his card installed and it did recognize his card in my phone.  So, my conclusion is that I need a new card.  I couldn't believe the difference in speed of everything!  It's like a brand new phone!
As for the hard reset...I did that over the weekend, before I could get to a verizon store.  It didn't work at all.
I'd say, do the same thing I did and see if that works.  Can't hurt!!!  Please keep me posted.  I'd like to see what you find out
    Good Luck!!!!
