SCCM SP1 Upgrade - Updates compliance issues

After my upgrade to SP1 I noticed that the compliance level of my update lists had dropped considerably.
I am noticing there are 200-230 clients in an “unknown” compliance state.
I am worried that something is wrong with the software updates compliance policy or worse something wrong on over 200 of my clients.
I have applied all the hotfixes that were suggested before upgrading to SP1.
WSUS is up to date with newest hotfixes as well.  The majority of my clients health checks are fine.
Not all of my clients are updated to the latest SCCM client 7804 but I wouldn’t think this would cause an issue with update compliance.
I triple checked my client settings on my primary server.  Clients are set to check every hour.
Nothing was changed for this before the SP1 upgrade.
Am I missing something else?  Is there a specific log to check for this?
It’s strange to me that before the upgrade I had high compliance rates and now they are very low.  Its been 3 weeks since the SP1 upgrade and I would think by now comliance levels would increase so patience isnt an issue here.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
Generally time will solve this problem.. give it a few days to clean itself up. If that doesn’t work then pick a few clients and review their SU logs to see why they are showing as unknown.

  • Are there any post SCCM SP1 CU5 updates/fixes

We are planning to update SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 to CU5 level.
Does anyone know of any post CU5 fixes already released?

    Hi,
No there are as far as I know not any hotfix for Sp1 CU5 there is for Endpoint but it is not a hotfix as it is only delivered through Windows Update.

  • SCCM 2012 software update point issue

The issue of "detection state unknown" (to simplify, use 'unknown' as below)  patch report status
The OS in our environment are mainly Win 7 - 64 bits and XP. The typical condition of "unknown" report patch status is as follows:
    1) Workstation with Win 7 - 64bits: "unknown" patch report  status is appearing
in MS patches for Win XP or 7 - 32bits
    2) Workstation with Win XP: "unknown" patch report  status is appearing
in MS patches for Win 7 - 32/64bits
The "unknown" problem appears even client scan is completed in the workstation (see the second picture). The problem may be caused by application bug or configuration. Please
kindly follow up and further seek support from Microsoft if applicable.

WSUS was installed and configured and work fine a few monthes ago as a part of the first try to install SUP before aplying SP 1 to SCCM.
Both SCCM and WSUS are installed on the same server.
now we want to deploy all updates from SCCM SUP, and the installation failed.
after researching online, uninstalled WSUS completely from the SCCM server, and removed SUP from the Site and rebooted the server.
installed WSUS 3.0 SP2, when initial config of the WSUS popped up i canceled it, the only config i made
is at the installation wizard, set the port to 8530, folders location and internal DB.
    >> i am able to open the WSUS console and connect to the "localhost" but no settings
    are configured.
    installed update 2734608, reboot.
    Installed SUP.
    and here we are.

  • MBAM 2.5 integrated with SCCM 2012 SP1 compliance issue

    Hi,
I have installed MBAM 2.5 in a SCCM integrated topology. GPO for encryption on the OS drive only have been deployed and encryption completed using the MBAM client. When running the compliance report and evaluating using the SCCM client the compliance comes
back as non-compliant. I have tried several tweaks to the GPO but had no luck getting it to report as compliant. Using the dashboard report to try and pin point why it is non-compliant shows as non-compliant but using the reasons in the top right corner all
    have 0 instances.
Is there a log file on the local system that can tell me what aspect is causing the status?

In the Event Viewer, there is MBAM node, you will find all MBAM client events there.
Also, review your GPO and see what encryption types are allowed and which are required. Maybe one reason would be, that your GPO requires something, which your client hasn´t done yet, like PIN code.
I´ve seen issues with not being compliant to policy before, and there was some explanations of this, if you google around. I´m also intrested to get knowing this, because I couldn´t solve this compliance issue.
For customer reporting, I just did query in SCCM where I listed ecrypted status and drive letters, that was a "customized report method" to tell customer, are all their Computers encrypted or not.

  • SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 Upgrade - Windows ADK 8.1

    Hello,
I am after some advice.  We have two physical locations containing a single SCCM 2012 primary site server in one location and distribution point server in the other location.
Both servers are also configured as DHCP Servers and DHCP scope options have been configured correctly to allow both DHCP and Windows Deployment Services to co-exist.
OSD was working fine, until I upgraded the primary site server to SCCM 2012 SP1.  During the upgrade process, I installed Windows ADK 8.1 which would appear is not supported however no errors were reported during the upgrade process.
    Issues I have encountered;
    - I can no longer PXE boot with the following error 'PXE-E55: ProxyDHCP service did not reply to request on port 4011'
    - The x:\remoteInstall\Boot\Fonts directory is empty suggesting the boots images were not finalised.
    - When updating the distribution points with the boot images i get the following error via the wizard;
    • The SMS Provider reported an error.: ConfigMgr Error Object:
    instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus
    • Description = "Failed to insert OSD binaries into the WIM file";
    • ErrorCode = 2152205056;

    SMSPXE.log contains the following errors;

The system cannot find the file specified. (Error: 80070002; Source: Windows)
Failed to read ADK installation root registry value
    I am looking for some advice on the best way to rectify this issue.  Options I am considering are as follows, however I am unsure of the outcome should I attempt these;
    1 - Upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2 which supports ADK 8.1
    2 - Uninstall Windows ADK 8.1, install 8.0
3 - Attempt to restore back to SCCM 2012 RTM using file system backups and SCCM backups.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you both for your replies and advice
The configMgr 2012 environment is primarily used for OSD, and software updates for Servers only.
I have followed Peter’ advice, and uninstalled WADK 8.1 and installed 8.0 and I am currently investigating errors within the SMSPXE.log, and I have seen other posts elsewhere within these forums
with the same issue with suggested solutions which I shall investigate.
With regards to DHCP on the ConfigMgr site servers – I could not agree with you more.
Unfortunately, my company use a third party DHCP solution which was incapable of supporting PXE-boot for OSD.
We were therefore required to have a separate Microsoft DHCP solution on the site servers to by-pass this issue.
The intention is to upgrade to Configmgr 2012 R2.
My understanding is that there is no direct upgrade process from SCCM 2012 RTM to R2, therefore I have upgraded to SP1 and would prefer all features are working correctly before progressing to R2.
    Many thanks again,
    Regards,

  • SCCM SP1 to R2 Upgrade

We have the following scenario. 1 Primary, 200 distribution points and will like to upgrade from SCCM SP1 to R2.
From my understanding of the upgrade, as soon as the primary is upgraded to R2, the DPs will start to upgrade as well. Is there a way to control the upgrade of the DPs on a schedule?
We are thinking of adding a central site then adding another sec or pri site then migrating half the DPs there then upgrade the cen and one sec\pri site and later (week) upgrade the original pri. We will require the two sites to be able to add additional
    DPs later.
    Thoughts?

An upgrade is disruptive no matter what. That can't be avoided or changed by staging the DP upgrade. Bottom line is that there is no way to perform an upgrade without it being disruptive. The business should plan for this outage but it won't be significant
and should be able to be done over the course of a weekend.
*Daily* software updates. Who in the world does software updates on a daily basis? If software is truly being updated on the DPs on a daily basis, a staged upgrade would not help anyway because the DPs, until upgraded, would probably not be able to get new
content. I say probably because I've never tested it (there's really no way to test it) as it simply was not designed to work that way and would be completely unsupported.
And, once again, using secondary sites won't help in any actual way and moving to them for this reason will be an immense waste of time and resources with zero added value.
Also, DPs cannot run on NAS devices so I have no idea what that means.
As for your perf issues, there could be a lot things but it ultimately sounds like whoever designed their site was woefully unequipped to do so and the design and expectations are inadequate. Adding secondary sites will *not* in any way change
    this.
Also, query execution time has nothing to do with the number of collections. Console refreshes taking a long time could be due to network issues -- it is a fat console and *not* designed to run over the WAN. Reporting slow could be because the
DB needs to be maintenance -- re-indexed and statistics rebuilt -- and could also be because of seriously underpowered system or poorly designed and installed site.
Honestly, your time is better spent labbing this up and showing them how well it works. You should also do this in a lab before hand anyway instead of planning for purple swans.

  • Satellite R630 - Driver issues on Win 7 64bit after SP1 upgrade

    Need your help here guys,
My Satellite R-630 is less than a year old, running a Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bit. For a while, I have been experiencing BSOD's, which I traced through the Event Viewer to here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd337789(WS.10).aspx
This did not lead me far enough.
Finally, I concluded through other forums that the SP1 upgrade would solve some of the annoying BSOD issues and I launched the download and upgrade. However, on restart, while my laptop seems to have been cured (so far) of the BSOD's, I have issues with drivers for:
    - Sound Card
    - USB Controllers
    - DVD Player
    - Webcam
    - Bus Enumerators
I have downloaded the indicated Win 7 - 64 bit drivers in each case. I tried installing them first. Nothing happened. I uninstalled the existing drivers, and installed them again. Nothing happened again.
I figured I must be doing things in the wrong order.
    So I tried installing
1). the Chip Set Utility (drivers?) first, then
    2). the USB drivers
    3). Sound card drivers etc.
    Nothing is happening still.
I am running out of ideas here.
P.S While all the other drivers executed fine when I extracted them from the .zip format, the Sound card driver refused to execute, even though the "run command" box was ticked when the .msi file was run.
I extracted it into a folder and ran it manually.
    Still didn't help.

That's where I got things wrong I think. I did not use the windows automatic update, because it kept saying connection was unsuccessful.
What happened is it identified a component of the SP1 as a "critical update", a 900 mb chunk (listed as windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5842 ) but would not download it. It failed every time. So I went on the windows download centre, looked up for the same component and installed it manually. Right now windows update turned green with the tick and says everything is fine.
I will try to restore my settings to the former configuration and let you know. I was about to try that last night, but I didn't see any restore date prior to the SP1 installation. I'll try this right now.
--*Edit:* So system restore isn't working. There is only one restore point that's prior to the SP1 installation. I've tried 3 times already. Every time it tells me that it could not access a file, probably because of antivirus. I use Avira. I disabled it the second time. Still same message. I uninstalled it completely for the 3rd trial, same message again.--
--So system restore isn't an option. Could it be that I missed a component that would be required for some drivers to work properly after the update?--
*Edit*: In all my troubles, I forgot an elementary step: run system restore in Safe Mode. Which I did. Now my system is back to before SP1, sound, usb connectivity working. I suppose everything is back where it should be. I'll just wait and see if i get a BSOD again and come back here if need be.
    Thanks guys.

  • SCCM 2012 patch compliance issue

    Hi All,
In my organization we are facing patch compliance issue.
in my clients all patches are installed and sent the state messages to MP.however most of the clients are having 0% compliance are showing in report.
in overall compliance report it is showing "compliance sate unknown" for most of the clients.
done the software update scan cycle, no errors in WUAhandler.log and windowsupdate.log
updatestore.log etc.files. however same location only few machines are showing 100% compliance and most of the machines are showing non-compliance (0% compliance)
please help us to resolve the issue.
Note: all machines are patches installed successfully. only report is showing "compliance state unknown"

How much time are you allowing? State messages are only submitted every 15 minutes by the client and information in the console is summarized every 1 hour (both by default); i.e., none of this is instantaneous.
Reports will reflect the up to info though. Have you directly examined WMI on a target system to verify it's patch compliance state?

  • Issues upgrading/updating Neutron Music player

Just seen a notification that there is an upgrade to the player which brings it from version 1.74.2 to version 1.74.4 however when I try I get "An error has occured. Please try again later". Thing is I had two free apps that upgraded without any issues. I don't wanna delete the player as I have it set up just the way I want it and all my playlists done.
I am on the latest OS update.

    Ok.
So, you're getting the upgrade notification, and the upgrade won't complete.
I think that even if you delete the app, your settings will remain if you reinstall the app.
You might ask Nuetron about this.

    Hi,
You could try to initiate Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle action from a problematic client, then check CIAgent.log, StateMessage.log to see if there are any helpful information.

  • SCCM 2012 Built in Compliance Report - I don't understand well

SCCM 2012 Built in Compliance Report not understanding
I am using built in compliance reports in SCCM 2012 (Compliance 1 – overall compliance), which is giving me inconsistence report.
For now, I am now updating many of my servers manually and finding out- how I can show compliance report using SCCM
I have a created a software group only for compliance propose for Aug 2014, containing all updates for all versions of Windows Servers. I have not changed/updates that software group.
Before Microsoft released last patches, the software group didn’t have any expired updates.
I had good number of servers, where showing compliant
However, after new patched have released and I have patched some servers manually, I can now see that I have some servers in to Non-compliant section, which were in compliant section two weeks before.
I also have now lots of server showing in: Compliance state unknown, which I didn’t have two weeks before.
I know, client servers supposed to report to SCCM in every 7 days and I can manually push a client to report to SCCM from client agent. Please help me to understand
Why some servers, where compliant before, are now showing non-compliant? How to be certain, which updates are causing trouble
When I check individual server into compliant sections I see that some updates are showing under * Is Required * I also don’t understand how that server is compliant then There are additional number of updates showing up, which are not part of my software
group. Where those extra information are coming from. From WSUS ?
My final goal is to create monthly Software group> deploy that group to install patched. Next month include that group to a compliance group for only compliance reporting purpose. After every quarter, create one compliance group, combing all three
months updates. So I can show to everyone that we have complied until x months.
Before all can happen, I want to understand my compliance report better.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
However, after new patched have released and I have patched some servers manually, I can now see that I have some servers in to Non-compliant section, which were in compliant section two weeks before.
Since the issue occur after you applied the latest patches.  Please check your deployment, you can see the detail error there.
And please make sure update did intalled successfully on these servers.

  • Trying to deploy SCCM Client upgrade...

A few days ago I upgraded our SCCM 2007 R2 Site Server with SP2.  I did this in preparation for Windows 7 support and deployment.  Anyhow, I decided to release the client upgrade via software distribution using the same package that I include with my image deployment (data source is \\server\sms_001\client )
Yesterday, I created an advertisement to distribute the SCCM client upgrade to my entire network but today System Center Console is reporting that out of 1148, 996 have not yet started, 0 succeeded, and 149 have failed.  We're a school so most of our computers are off.  The issue is that of the computers that are on 149 have failed with 0 reporting a success....or so they say.
I checked a few of my clients and the ccmsetup.log indicates that installation has in fact succeeded.  However, what the "status of a specific advertisement" report is telling me is that the client failed with the "last status message name" column indicating "Program Failed (unexpected restart)".  It shows the same thing for all clients that have reported a failure.
The software package program function is configured to run the following and I'm not using any client options:  "CCMSETUP.EXE /noservice SMSSITECODE=AUTO"
Any ideas why the client appears to have been upgraded but reporting a failure?

This KB article covers the upgrade of the client via hotfixes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2477182
An important thing to note is that the Program needs the following set:
After Running: Program Restarts Computer; this is needed to ensure that any status MIF files are collected after a restart of the client service (ccmexec.exe).  No actual restart of the computer should occur.
This enables the SCCM client to detect that it re-started and to process the MIF files for status messages.
Installing the following updates one at a time normally is sucessful:
    KB2761938
    KB2516517
    KB2815223
Other updates such as KB2276865 fail with the Unexpected Reboot Event error (possibly because the MIF is not written correctly) but it has been superseeded by KB2815223 wich is OK.

  • SP1 Cumulative update 4 stuck on "Downloading information"

I have a server that is attempting to install the SP1 CU4 update for SCCM 2012 client but never succeeds. If you go into the Software Center on the machine, the status is continually stuck at "Downloading information".
I tried to force it by copying the installation package to the server and running the command line option specified in the package properties (msiexec.exe /p configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp /L*v %TEMP%\configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp.LOG /q REINSTALL=ALL
REINSTALLMODE=mous). The installation ran and appears to have been applied successfully (the version of the client shown in Control Panel --> Configuration Manager Properties went from 5.00.7804.1000 to 5.00.7804.1500) and the Software Center icon
    went away afterwards.
I was just finishing up congratulating myself when I received a notification from the Software Center again that software was being installed. I opened up Software Center, and there it was again - SP1 CU4 stuck at "Downloading information".
I've rebooted several times, but Software Center continues to pop up every time with same status.
One thing I should note, I recently migrated my SCCM server to new hardware and this "problem server" was installed after the migration. Prior to that, all of my other servers received the SP1 CU4 without issue. Both servers (SCCM and
problem server) are Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Thanks for the reply Anoop.
I checked the logs mentioned in the article, and everything looks fine as far as I can tell up until "Step 5: Tracking the Content Download."
In the "DataTransferService" log, there are numerous error messages:
    [CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009, Port=80, Options=224, Code=0, Text=CCM_E_BAD_HTTP_STATUS_CODE
Error sending DAV request. HTTP code 404, status 'Not Found'
    GetDirectoryList_HTTP('http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009') failed with code 0x87d0027e.
So looks like I have an IIS problem? I opened IIS Manager, and browsed to the directory on the DP server. In that directory, I see several other directories (DataLib, FileLib, PkgLib). I assume my package information should be in the "PkgLib" folder, but
inside that folder are just four .INI files (RIC00001.INI, RIC00002.INI, etc). There is no RIC00009.INI file, maybe that's my problem?
I also went into Config Mgr Console --> Administration --> Distribution Points, went to the properties of my Distribution Point, then to the "Content" tab, highlighted my package and clicked "Validate". Not sure though what this accomplishes.

  • Report needed for overall view of update compliancy

I've been asked to provide a custom report to give an overall status for the update compliancy for the servers in place.
Have been fiddling about in sql mgmt studio and kind of understand where to get the information from, but am missing something.  so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction
I realize that this kind of report might take some querying time, but this is what the customer wants: instead of him going to the builtin report compliance 7 (category sw updates - compliance A) where he has to select a collection AND a baseline AND a compliance
status, he wants to obtain a list of all server systems being compliant to some server baselines and a list of all server systems being non-compliant to some server baselines
currently the sqlcode i Have to show the compliant servers, is:
    SELECT
         v_R_System.Name0
    AS Servername,
    v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Caption0
    AS OS,
    v_ConfigurationItems.CI_ID,
    v_AuthListInfo.Title,
    v_StateNames.TopicType,
                          v_StateNames
    .StateID,
    v_StateNames.StateName
    FROM
             v_ConfigurationItems
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_AuthListInfo
    ON v_ConfigurationItems.CI_ID
    = v_AuthListInfo.CI_ID
    CROSS
    JOIN
                          v_R_System
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM
    ON v_R_System.ResourceID
    = v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceID
    CROSS
    JOIN
                          v_StateNames
    WHERE
    (v_R_System.Client0
    = 1)
    AND(v_R_System.Operating_System_Name_and0
    LIKE
    '%server%')
    AND
    (v_AuthListInfo.Title
    LIKE
    '%server%')
    AND(v_StateNames.TopicType
    = 300)
    AND(v_StateNames.StateID
    =
    '1')
    ORDER
    BY Servername
BUT if I now change the stateid to 2 in the query I get the same amount of rows back (being 134 servers with an sccm client times 4 server update groups)
so my problem is: how and when do i make the correct join here ?

I was thinking that it might be better to use the assignmentstate views, and I quickly came up with this alternative:
    SELECT
         v_R_System.Name0
    AS ServerName,
    v_CIAssignment.AssignmentName
    as
    'Deployment Name',
    v_StateNames.StateName
    FROM
             v_AssignmentState_Combined
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_R_System
    ON v_AssignmentState_Combined.ResourceID
    = v_R_System.ResourceID
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_FullCollectionMembership
    ON v_R_System.ResourceID
    = v_FullCollectionMembership.ResourceID
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_CIAssignment
    ON v_AssignmentState_Combined.AssignmentID
    = v_CIAssignment.AssignmentID
    INNER
    JOIN
                          v_StateNames
    ON v_AssignmentState_Combined.StateID
    = v_StateNames.StateID
    WHERE
    (v_StateNames.TopicType
    = 300)
    AND(v_StateNames.StateID
    = 1
    OR
                          v_StateNames
    .StateID
    = 2)
    AND(v_FullCollectionMembership.CollectionID
    =
    N'D01003FE')
    ORDER
    BY servername
at first glance this produces what I want, let me check with the customer.
you guys agree with that or not?

  • Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack Upgrade - Outlook connectivity issue

    Hi,
After upgrading to Exchange Server 2013 service pack 1, we are unable to connect via Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. Outlook Web Access is working fine though. We have followed all the instructions, and have applied Outlook upgrades, but the issue remain the
same. Outlook was working fine before the upgrade.
Have we missed out something. I would highly appreciate if someone can help out? I'm not sure if this is the known issue as I can't seem to find anything on the internet.
    Already applied the transport fix.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
According to your description, your Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 come across the connectivity issue.
To narrow down the issue, I’d like to recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Check if the issue happens on all Outlook users
    2. Check the Outlook Anywhere connectivity by using ExRCA:
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Additionally, MAPI over HTTP is only supported when you use Outlook 2013 sp1 and Exchange 2013 sp1 at the same time. Since the issue also happens on Outlook 2010 client, we can firstly try the above troubleshooting.
If you have any question , please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,
