Scenario for Discrete Manufacturing..

Dear All,
Our client imports goods and then packages them at their site into different packages and boxes. After that those products are dispatched. The client wants to keep an eye on the status of packaging and for that they require a Manufacturing module.
Can Process Manufacturing be implemented for this scenario or Discreet Manufacturing will be a better option?

Hi,
It basically boils down to how you track the status of your work orders, generally if you want to segregate by order then Discrete manufacturing is better, if you want to segregate by operational metrics in your plant irrespective of the number of goods you import then flow manufacturing is better.
Thanks,
karthik

    Hi colleagues,
We are installing SAP BP for Discrete Manufacturing based on ECC 6.00. We have already installed the Baseline Layer 0. The problem we face now is that some of the building blocks required for Layer1 activation are not present amongst the ones already installed.
How does one get these missing building blocks?
    Thank you.

    Hi
Both the way you can choose.
As an OPM Consultant, I prefer to go with Process Manuf. Module.
    In your case
    1. Your importing your Finished goods and just doing the packing to these Finished goods
    2. Now this Packed FG, your are now selling to the Customers
When choose OPM, Here you need to create Formula/Recipe using this you need to perform a Production Batch.
In Formula, keep your Imported Item as Ingredient and Packege Item as (may be box/Cartoon/Sheet....etc) Ingredient and Lables(if required) also as Ingredient and with these Ingredients now you want to make a desired Finished Goods as PRODUCT using Recipe in Production Supervisor Module to complete your Batch.
Now your Packed FG is ready to Ship to Customer.
Hope you understood and implement this.

  • Give me the Best Scenario for Chemical Manufacturing

    Hi Experts
Pls Give me the Best Scenario for following:
To make XYZ there is two stages as follows:
To make Semi finished item ABC for XYZ: (My Scenario: Prod. Order1)
    Item A + Item B + Item C
To make Final item XYZ: (My Scenario: Prod. Order2)
    Semi finished item ABC + Item X + Item Y + Item Z
Finally I will get the Finished Item XYZ in ltrs:
Again my client will sells as like XYZ 100ml, XYZ 200ml, XYZ 450ml, XYZ 2ltrs, XYZ 5ltrs, XYZ 20ltrs.
No :1 (My Scenario: Goods issue in ltrs for Finished Item XYZ in ltrs)
No:2 (My Scenario: Make Goods Receipt against the Good issue qty
    For Ex: Good issue
    XYZ -3ltrs u20131000Rs
    Good receipt:
    XYZ 2ltrs-1--2litres-666.666Rs
    XYZ 450ml -2----900ml-300.333Rs
    XYZ 100ml -1-----100ml--033.00Rs So total 3litres and 1000Rs of Good Issue (XYZ -3ltrs u20131000Rs).
Here in my scenario I am some what feeling that lot of chances is there to miss the price difference B/n G.I & G.R, calculation of qty to match the good issue and Calculation of correct item price to have Item cost.
So how to Overcome this issueu2026u2026.
This is Standard Process for The items to sell:
Also the items XYZ 100ml will be sold in One Box which has 60 bottles of each 100ml.
Also the items XYZ 200ml will be sold in One Box which has 30 bottles of each 200ml.
Also the items XYZ 450ml will be sold in One Box which has 24 bottles of each 450ml.
Also the items XYZ 2litres will be sold in One Box which has 10 Jars of each 2litres.
Also while selling, Cartoons or Box used for packing the goods so inventory of packaging has to be reduce while doing Delivery document.
So Pls give me the Best way to implement in Our SAP.
    Item master setup:
    XYZ 100mlu2014Sales UoM:Bottles-Item per sales unit:60-Packaging UoM(Sales):1Cartoon u2013 60Bottles.

  • Discrete Manufacturing Scenario

Hi all, Can I have detailed information on customisation required to be done in discrete manufacturing.
    Regards,

    Hi Mr.Vivek,
The following are some of the few settings done for Discrete Manufacturing.
    Please check this.
For a Production Order, you have to use either standard order type's defined in the
system or you can copy those order types and you can give your own name.
<b>Some general settings for an order.</b>
    1. Define Order Type - OPJH.
    2.Define Order Type Dependent Parameters - OPL8.
    3.Define number ranges for Orders - CO82.
    4.Define number ranges for Confirmation - CO80
    5.Define number ranges for Reservations - CO83.
    6.Define number ranges for Operations - CO81.
    <b>Under Operation</b>
    <b>
    Availability Check</b>
    1.Define Checking group - OVZ2
    2.Define Checking Rule
    3. Define scope of Check - OPJJ
    <b>under Scheduling</b>
    1.Define Scheduling parameters for Prod.Order - OPU3.
    <b>under confirmation</b>
    1.Define Confirmation parameters - OPK4.
    <b>For routing</b>
    1.Define Control Key - OPJ8.
    <b>For BOM.</b>
    1.Define Modification Parameters for BOM - OS27.
    2.Define default values - OS28.

  • Auto lot generation for repeatative manufacturing.

I want to learn the usage of inspection type 13...Since 03 is for discrete manufacturing –during production-, I think that 13 is for repetetive manufacturing – during production- ... But I couldn't use this inspection type (13) to create an automatic inspection lot. First I activated 13 inspection type for the material. Then I inserted an operation for the run schedule and also control characteristics. Then I create a planned order but the system didn't create an inspection lot. Also I don't know if it's true to expect from the system to create an inspection lot after planned order creation (since it's repetetive manufacturing I don't have any production order to create). But I could only create an ispection lot with source insp.type 13 by t-code MFPR. But I don't want to create manually by MFPR. Is there an automatic way to create an ispection lot for during rep.manufacturing ?

    Hi
In REM after RS header is abolished ( after ver 4.5) , you have to create inspection lot manually onle in MFPR.
Thers is no other method in STD SAP.

  • Kanban for finished goods (discrete manufacturing)

    Hi gurus,
I am using kanban for finished goods(with MRP) to triggers production order(discrete manufacturing). If i set the status "empty" system is creating a planned order directly. It is not coming for MRP run. I suppose, that planned order should be created through MRP run(since i am using kanban with MRP). Can you please tell what settings i need to be checked?
    Regards
    Rajib Pathak

    Hi,
Pls. find details about settings for KANBAN With MRP:
    KANBAN With MRP
    Prerequisites
In this process, the storage location assigned to the supply area is not excluded from MRP.
If a material is planned and procured with MRP, you must make the following settings:
You must maintain a valid MRP type for the material. This means, the setting "ND" (No planning) is not allowed.
You must maintain all other control parameters required for MRP for the material.
You must maintain a repetitive manufacturing profile (in the MRP data screen) for replenishment strategies with a cost collector (in-house production with run schedule quantities, manual KANBAN). In the SAP standard system, a profile is available that is specially intended for KANBAN, that is, using this profile, the system creates a cost collector without a run schedule header.
    Features
Here, the total production quantity or the procurement quantities of a certain period are planned in the planning run and the replenishment elements are also created in the planning run. For in-house production, you can use either Repetitive Manufacturing or production orders to plan the production quantities per period. For external procurement, all the standard replenishment elements are available. The replenishment elements created in the planning run, however, are not intended to trigger production or replenishment directly. Instead, they exist to provide the supply source with a preview. Actual production and material flow are controlled and triggered by setting the kanban to FULL and EMPTY. Backflushes and goods receipts are posted with no reference to the kanban. This means that you can backflush daily quantities, for example.
In this procedure, the following is valid for materials with BOMs:
Components that are used in KANBAN materials can be planned using any one of the MRP procedures. However, the system has to be organized so that the supply source does not produce the material for the replenishment element created in MRP immediately but awaits the kanban request.
As the system creates preview data in the procedure with MRP, it is particularly useful for replenishment with run schedule quantities (Repetitive Manufacturing) and scheduling agreement releases.
    HOpe this helps.
    Regards,
    Tejas

  • MTO Discrete Manufacturing with multiple plants and sub-contracting

    Dear PP Gurus,
I am facing a problem, pl. help me out.
    My Scenario is as follows:
I am having 4 plants with Make-To-Order Discrete Manufacturing scenarieo .
Suppose to manufacture a particular Product , there are 10 operations. The first 4 operations are carried out in Plant A, 5th and 6th carried out in Plant B, Operations 7 is Sub-contracted to a Vendor. After the job-work from Vendor, the job returns back to Plant A and the remaining operations are carried out in Plant A.
The whole scenario has to be mapped into SAP. Please guide me from the very beginning( Masterdata maintenance). Also, what shud be the MRP( Single-item multilevel or anything else)
Your help is highly required by me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Soumyendu

    Hi Sadhukhan,
For external processing in different company code, u need to specify PP02 in the routing for external vendor. In PP02 control key indicator must be set in external opn. Before that create purchase info record. Enter subcontract info record in routing. After running MRP , convert the PR to PO. Send the material by MB1B by 541 mvt. Receive the material by MIGO by 101 mvt.
    Reward if useful.

I had TAR with Metalink and we did go back and forth and could not resolve this issue till i found that the patch zip file p2133107_11i_SOLARIS.zip had the wfcoreb.sql and wfcores.sql script files for package spec and body which caused the problem.
Analyzing both spec and body, i found that the body had 4 parameters
    procedure Get_Error(err_name out varchar2,
    err_message out varchar2,
    err_stack out varchar2,
    maxErrStackLength in number default 4000);
whereas the spec had only 3 parameters.
    procedure Get_Error(err_name out varchar2,

    err_stack out varchar2)
Discrepancy between spec and body was the cause of the worker to fail. By adding the missing parameter i was finally able to continue with the install.
I even checked the latest update to this patch at Metalink and still find that the above error is not fixed.

    <u><i><b>Steps for SD Variant Configuration</b></i></u>
Some light on Variant Configuration in Detail.
    The procedure is as follows:
    1. Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
    2. Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
    3. Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
    4. Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
    5. Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
    6. Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
    7. Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
    8. Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
    9. Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.
