SCEP required for iOS

Is a SCEP server required to push apps to an iOS device in ZMM 2.6.1?

SCEP is an optional component, it's not required to manage iOS devices

  • Are there iPhone 4/4s space requirements for ios 7 update?

I have a 16GB 4S. I've read a couple of articles online saying I will need to "free up quite a bit of space" on my phone if I want to try and update to iOS 7 via OTA. Is this true? And if so, just how much space do I need to make available?  I think I have 1.3GB free at the moment. Will this suffice?
    - C

I highly doubt that 1.3GB free will be enough, as that would not be enough to download, uncompress, and install, iOS 6.
OTA updates take more space then doing the update through your computer's iTunes, since your iPhone must have space for the downloaded file, for the uncompressed installer of that download, and then some temp space as it actually installs the updated firmware.  As near as I remember, iOS 6 took up something like 600MB of space, but required something closer to 2.5GB of free space for the OTA update download/installation process.
I'd guess you will either need to free up some space (how much we won't know until it is released) or you could try downloading in iTunes and updating from there, instead of an OTA update.

  • Code required for IOS 8? How can I get the code to download the software update?

I cannot download iOS 8 because I don't have any code, where can I get that code?

It's asking you to create a passcode. You can disable it later if you wish.

What exactly happens when you try to update the iPod? What does the error message say?
Also, are you sure yo have a 2G iPod?

  • Old version Samsung Remote 2.0.1 for iOS 3.1.3 required

Too late, too bad: I purchased a Samsung 5.1 BD-receiver but unfortunately a few weeks before the remote app was updated and requires now iOS 4.2 (before just 3.1.3). Too bad for me and my old 1. gen iPod. Does the app store has a (hidden) feature to download earlier previous versions of apps? All google links finally point to the iTunes store. Any idea where I can download directly the app code beside iTunes app store? The Samsung Remote app offers several additional features in paricular regarding internet radio. Thanks for help!

No. Yu can only purchas apps from the Apple App store and they on "sell" the current version. If you previously purchased the previous version and had it in a computer backup you could use that version. Otherwise you are out of luck.

  • Level-2 GPU published for IOS and Box2D/WCK    Does this fall under the revenue share requirements?

WCK uses the Box2D Alchemy port and therefore uses "Domain Memory".  Part 1 of premium features usage.
Does publishing to "Level-2 GPU" constitute use of Stage3D?  Is this now part 2?
Does our project now fall under the revenue share requirements?
We aren't using Starling or any framework other than WCK.
I wouldn't think Level-2 GPU constitutes use of Stage3D but have to ask.
We would appreciate some clarification from Adobe on this.

Thanks Kevin.  I need to read more carefully. We are targeting IOS/Android with this project.
"Level 2 - GPU" is a choice in the "Hardware Acceleration" drop down box on the main Publish Settings screen when
you have Flash (.swf) highlighted in the left pane on Flash Pro CS5.5
The other settings pages have Auto, CPU or GPU under "Rendering" or "Render Mode"
Like I said I need to read more carefully.
What is NOT considered part of the premium features?
The following uses are NOT considered premium and there is no revenue share required for these uses:
    Use of domain memory alone,
Use of hardware accelerated Stage3D features alone,
Use of software rendering of Stage3D, or
Use of these features within Flash content packaged as apps using AIR
    Thanks again guys

  • Hi, I couldn't download apps on my iPad 1. It say iOS update required for this action whereby my software is the latest 5.1.1

I couldn't download apps using my iPad 1. It says that iOS update required for this action.

Some developers allow you to download older compatible versions of their apps. If it's a free app then try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history, then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it. If it's a paid-for app then contact the developer first and ask them if the above will work, don't buy it and then find it won't

  • App-specific passwords: are they required for the iOS versions of iMessage and Facetime?

I was recently prompted to generate app-specific passwords for iMessage and FaceTime on my Mac. The process went reasonably smoothly, but after doing this I wondered whether I'll need to do the same on my iOS devices.
The Apple Support page Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support offers no clues about which Apple apps require them and on which devices.
As a test, I tried signing out of iMessage on my iPhone, and signing back in with my regular Apple ID password, not an app-specific one. This worked fine, therefore I assume the iOS versions of iMessage and Facetime do not need app-specific passwords.
On the other hand, I've read some of the articles which state that the iOS versions of iMessage and Facetime will require app-specific passwords:
      http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/02/apple-extends-two-factor-authentication-to- facetime-and-imessage/
Does this mean that app-specific passwords have simply not been "rolled out" to my devices yet, and we'll be prompted to generate app-specific passwords on iOS at some random time in the future?
If so, that's a problem for non-technical users in my household on whose behalf I look do setup and security. It will effectively mean iMessage will stop working for them, until I can take a look at the issue. This is not always something that can be done quickly if we're in different locations.
If I pre-empt the roll-out by visiting https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage/security and generate and install an app-specific passwords for them anyway, before the prompt appears, will this work?

So far the app specific passwords were only required for 3rd party apps, not for "Apple apps". Not sure why you cannot use trusted device verification for iMessage and FT like on the App store or iTunes. or on Apple TV.
Having to generate a different  app specific password for every device that uses iMessage or FT is a pain, but I guess the powers that be at Apple feel it is more secure.

I am having a very similar problem.  I can export it from itunes to my desktop, but when i go to import the project through imovie on my Mac it says that it can not import movies that were created on an IOS app 1.4 or earlier, all though the app i used to create the project is the current. 2.0  is this the same problem you are having?

  • What version of iOS is required for the Single Edition viewer?

Does anyone know what the minimum requirements for downloading SIngle Edition apps are?
    Thanks for the quick help...

Actually, it sounds like we're dropping support for iOS 3, so it's iOS 4.x and later. And the support is the same for any DPS app on iOS. Unfortunately, this is not documented anywhere, though I've been trying to get device compatibility publically published.

  • Flash CS 5.5 Professional requires 32-bit JVM when publishing for iOS

When trying to publish my file to AIR for iOS I get the following error:
Error: This Java instance does not support a 32-bit JVM.Please install the desired version.
I'm on Mac OS (Mavericks) and have both java 6 (which supports 32-bit) and 7 (which does not) installed. I've verified I can launch a 32-bit jvm from the terminal with "java -d32".
Interestingly, it publishes to AIR with no problems when it's not to iOS.
How can I get Flash to use the correct version of Java? I've tried setting JAVA_HOME to point to version 6 in /etc/profile with still no luck.
Thanks for reading, I will really appreciate the help!!

Ok, found the answer thanks to Christopher Caleb. Needed to upgraded CS5.5's bundled AIR from 2.6 to the current one, and it compiled with no errors. Directions are here for anyone that winds up having the same issue:

  • Pdf reader requirements for forms designed in Livecycle

    HI guys,
I have designed a few dynamic pdf forms that was developed using Livecycle Designer ES. These forms are online fillable forms and I will be uploading these on my site so my users can open these forms in their browsers, complete the form online and print it out for their personal use. These forms are more like online tools for the users. For this, I also have to provide a Troubleshoot guide to my users so they can refer to this if they are unable to open the forms or having trouble viewing the forms properly. So right now I am working on creating this Troubleshoot documentation and I dont want to give the wrong info to my users so I have some clarifications and some doubts and wondering if you guys can help me out..
    1) From what I understand, I think the users need to have atleast a v.8.0 of Acrobat Reader in order to fill these dynamic forms that was designed in livecycle designer ES. This is right? I think so based on my memory since I believe I read this somewhere. Would you be able to clarify this? Have I got the right version?
    2) Also, further to this I understand that the users need to have an Acrobat reader browser plug-in in order to open the pdfs in their browsers. So, I will be adding a list of various pdf plug-in download links for various browsers.
    3) I was wondering, what happens if the user doesnt have acrobat reader installed in their computer? What are the common other pdf readers that various users use? I know there are tons out there but I am trying to understand the common ones that majority of the people use other than Acrobat Reader. I mean users having mac or other OS. Will these forms also work in other pdf readers? Is there are a list of various pdf readers & the versions requirements in order for these livecycle forms to work?
    4) Other than the above points, do you think if I need to mention anything else in the troubleshoot documentation? Any points I may have missed?
I am sorry..this is the first time I am uploading these online forms and I am trying to understand the requirements so I may be able to assist my users if they do experience any problems. So any help is very much appreciated!
    Thank you..

Some users are having problems viewing my forms I created using livecycle:
    1) I have a created a few dynamic forms designed using livecycle designer ES..In order for my users to open these forms, they need to have atleast Adobe acrobat / reader version 8.1 or higher to view these dynamic files. However, quite a few of my users are saying that they are still unable to open these forms directly from their browser although they have downloaded the latest Acrobat X version and the browser plug-ins in their computer. It happens to both windows and mac computers. But they are able to download these files and open it directly from their adobe reader though. It happens with all browsers for them...some of them have even called up mac support as well as adobe support and they were advised that it could be a problem with my forms that I find hard to believe since it opens in my computer and opens for a lot of other users. Its only a few users still having this difficulties and I can't understand why! They have also tried enabling "Adobe Reader" as a default problem to open pdf files by opening the adobe reader. They also have tried uninstalling and re-installing the readers and still the same problem. These LC files just dont open inside their browser for them.
    2) Also, I recently uploaded a dynamic file in acrobat file sharing. I noticed that when I click on this file sharing link, it also shows the message that I dont have the latest reader installed (something similar to what my users say about my forms), Why am I getting the below message when I have the latest adobe installed? I am able to open other dynamic xml forms in my browsers..why does this happen? I wonder if other user's problem who open my forms from my site is similar to this problem I have with acrobat file sharing...not sure... (example url: https://acrobat.com/#d=fs-E6Bqml8r0FWI8aMu09g )
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from etc...etc...etc..
What can be the problem when the adobe version is already updated and also the plug-ins are updated too?? I have read a lot of links in adobe site itself which suggest various methods to test out the forms, browsers, plug-ins, etc..and I also understand that it doesnt work for iOS & Android devices, but this problem still happens to some users even after trying out these troubleshoots. Can someone plz explain if there are other limitations or solution for these users?

  • Can I use macbook air for ios app development?

I would like to know if i can use macbook air for ios app development or macbook pro is only option?

Just to reinforce what shldr2thewheel says - be very sure what size memory you want if you get a Macbook Air. There is *no* way to change after purchase. My advice is to go for the 4GB option - especially if you want to do app development.
The internal storage (solid state drive) of the Air can be upgraded if required but it will probably be an expensive option. If you don't think the storage will be enough then maybe using a USB connected drive to hold non-essential files is an option.
As to deciding between the Air and Pro you are basically making a decision between portability (Air) and expandability/bigger screens (Pro). What is more important to you?

  • Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's?

Does Adobe Reader for iOS have the ability to open inbedded links created with Acrobat Standard to additional PDF docs?  If not, then what would be the best way to use these already created PDF's on an I Pad?

    driddy61,
As of June 2014, none of the Adobe Reader mobile products support the hyperlink action for opening a separate PDF document.
    Adobe Reader for iOS
    Adobe Reader for Android
Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8
In addition, the Reader mobile products do not open multiple windows/documents simultaneously, which would make the navigation between PDF documents nearly impossible. (Once a hyperlink takes you to a different PDF document, you have no way to go back to the original PDF document.)
The only Adobe Reader product that fulfills your department's requirements is Adobe Reader XI (mostly for Windows/Mac desktop/laptop computers).  Acrobat Pro and Standard are paid products.
Because you are in search of a less expensive device for your department, you could get a Windows tablet instead of a Windows desktop/laptop computer. Microsoft Surface Pro (that you've mentioned in your previous reply) is just one example.  You can also find other less expensive Windows tablets.
    Tablets
However, please keep in mind that there are two different types of Windows tablets running two different operating systems.
    (a) A Windows tablet with an Intel-based processor running Windows 8.1 Pro
    Example: Surface Pro 3
You can install and run traditional desktop apps (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) and new Windows Store apps ("Modern" or "Metro-style" apps).
    (b) A Windows tablet with an ARM-based processor running Windows RT 8.1
    Example: Surface 2
You can only install and run Windows Store apps (e.g. Adobe Reader Touch) but not traditional desktop apps like Adobe Reader XI.
In general, type (b) tablets are more affordable than type (a) tablets.  However, if you want to run Adobe Reader XI, you do need to check the technical specification of each tablet and make sure the following conditions are met.
    Processor: Intel
Operating system:  Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 8/8.1 Pro, not RT
Hope this helps you choose the right device for your department.  Please let us know if you have any questions about system requirements or supported features in the Adobe Reader products.

  • Easy-to-read link to App Store does not work for iOS 6?

I have followed https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#qa/qa1633/_index.html  to create a link that looks like

This link work for iOS 5 devices, but not on iOS 6!

Make sure your Mac qualifies for Mountain Lion >  Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
If your Mac qualifies and you are running v10.6.8 (according to your profile), installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try downloading Mountain Lion. It's ok to do this even with v10.6.8 already installed.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
