SCF and Application sharing server

Hi,
When reading the installation guide of KM and collaboration room, I've seen that there is an application sharing server that is also installed but I've find which application it hosted.
Is it the host for Synchronous Collaboration Framework ?
Does any one have some documentation about the relation between SCF and Application sharing server ?
Thanks
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
The app sharing server is to drive RTC Application Sharing and the streaming of data.
The SCF is an integration framework to enable 3rd party synchronous tools to be used with NW Collaboration.
One example is the WebEx integration.
SAP RTC offering for AppSharing is also exposed to the applications via SCF.

what are the things we need to change here.In what way it will reflect in the web.Xml file.
    Initial thread count -
    40
    Max. thread count -
    250
    Min. thread count  -
    40
    Max Request Queue size -
    5000
    Thread Idle Timeout Property -

Could anyone help me to sort this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Any idea for high display resolution in application sharing server ?

    Hi.
I installed EP6 SP 13 with KMC and configure collaboration feature.
I tested application sharing and It works.
    Then, I found problem.
Problem is that application sharing server doesn't support 1400x1050 display resolution. (only works till 1280x1024)
Is there any idea for solving this issue ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi Arnold,
I'm afraid this screen resolution is not yet supported. The official supported screen resolution is 1024x768 ! but as you stated it <b>can</b> work wit 1280x1024. You could open an OSS ticket and ask the KM Development for plans on supporting higher resolutions in application sharing and let us also know.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Desktop Sharing and Application Shareing White List BlackList Possible

Does anybody know if its at all possible to Blacklist or whitelist applications into Application sharing, so that users can only share certain ones ?
so in short Application whitelisting, either by 3rd party Apps or but server extension.
    Lync 2013 and 2010
    thanks

Extremely sorry about that, but maybe you don't like users sharing their entire computer; after all, when they do that everyone in the meeting sees everything
that happens on the shared computer, including such things as a Microsoft Outlook "toast" popping up to announce a newly-received email. Because of that, you might prefer to limit users to sharing just a single application; that way, people in the
meeting only see the activities that take place within that application. In that case, just set EnableAppDesktopSharing to SingleApplication:
     Set-CsConferencingPolicy –Identity global –EnableAppDesktopSharing SingleApplication
When you do that, the Desktop option will no longer be available under the Share menu.

  • Application sharing issue

    hi ,
I have installed application sharing server on a seprate machine . Initially it was working fine ,but now when i try accessing this service the window does not pop up .Where is the log file generated for this ? Is there some network issue that needs to be resolved.
    Thanks
    alok

    hi Akhilesh ,
Yes, the server is up and running.I have a doubt with the pop-up blocker can you how it is has to be enabled.when i go to TREX monitor in Monitoring in System Administration --> Server status
Index server and Queue server status is red.
Where to check for this in case of Application sharing server.
I tried running the logviewer.bat ,even after passing the parameters it is not able to connect.

  • Where is the Application Sharing defaulttrace.trc file located?

    Hi,
In a help document it says this:
    a.      Set the Application Sharing Server trace file (defaultTrace.trc) to severity info and try to start a new session.
but where is the Application Sharing file located? or it means the J2EE defaultTrace file?
    Thanx in Advanced!
    Kind Regards,
    Gerardo J

    Hi Gerardo,
Collaboration uses the logging mechanisms of the J2EE Engine. Therefore it is the defaultTrace.trc  under .../usr/sap/<SID>/Jxx/j2ee/cluster/serverX/log/ .
    Kind regards

  • ACI Alert - Application Sharing

    Hello All,
Has anyone see the following alert when launching Application Sharing on NW SP12?
    <b>ACI Alert
ACI Error: The communication with the server has been disconnected, you have to login again. (1101)</b>
To generate this error, I go through the CLP, select the Contact that I want to share the application with, I then select the application at which point I get the error.
My system pretty much freezes up and I have to forcefully close my Internet Explorer session.
    My Application Sharing parameters are:
    SecureMode = 1
ServerName = <fully qualified domain of server)
    ServerPath = streamingserver/servlet/streamingserver
    ServerPort = 50000
    Version    = 1729
I've searched for this error in the Forum logs but have not found anything.
    Can anyone provide assistance?
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi Guy,
    Thanks for your feedback;
One quick question; I do not have the "SAPPortals" entry on my either of my client PC's underl

  • Blank Window When Starting Collaboration Application Sharing.

    Hi,
I have this problem at my portal (NW04 SP12) -
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/45/cc3541afe5db2be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm.
I followed the documentation and reached this point:
"If there is no session registration:
    a. Set the Application Sharing Server trace file
(defaultTrace.trc) to severity info and try to start a new session.
    b. Perform step Enable RTC ActiveX Control Client Logger.
    c. Send both the Application Sharing Server defaultTrace.trc and
the activeX log file to support."
Where and how I perform steps "a" and "b"?
And where do I find that trc and log files?
    Thank you,
    Yuri

    Hi Yuri,
as it follows from the document you cited: (but before that make sure that the screen resolution on machines involved is NOT higher than: 1024*768.)
    b. Enable ActiveX client logging on the sharer/viewer machine:
    1) in regedit
    2) Go to the RTC’s key, located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAPPortals\RTC
    3) If the key does not exist, create it.
Add the following 3 string valued entries:
    a) logdir = String represents an existing directory in which the log needs to be created (for example C:\temp).
    b) loglevel = 3.
    c) logsize = String represents the bytes size of the log file to be created (for example 10,000).
    a. is not so important.

  • Shared Server Process

I have one query regarding Shared Server Process.
1)Why SHUTDOWN needs dedicated server process and not shared server process?
    Thanks in advance

    >
1)Why SHUTDOWN needs dedicated server process and not shared server process?
    >
Because Oracle maintains the connection for the user performing the shutdown until the shutdown is complete and their is still more work to be performed after the shared server processes are shutdown.
If you look at the shutdown part of the alert log when a shutdown is performed you will see that the dispatchers and shareds servers are shutdown before the database is closed and dismounted. There would be no more connection if a shared server were being used.
Consider the example shutdown log from this article
    http://oracleappstechnology.blogspot.com/2007/08/oracle-11g-db-startup-and-shutdown.html
Find the portion that shows these steps
    >
All dispatchers and shared servers shutdown
    ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL
    Wed Aug 15 18:24:35 2007
    SMON: disabling tx recovery
    SMON: disabling cache recovery
    Wed Aug 15 18:24:35 2007
    Shutting down archive processes
    >
See how the CLOSE is issued AFTER the dispatchers and shared servers are shutdown?
See how the SMON service is still running?
If you then look at the very end you will see this
    >
    Stopping background process VKTM:
    >
That last background process is described in chapter 9 (Process Architecture) in the Database Concepts doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/process.htm
    >
•VKTM (virtual keeper of time) is responsible for providing a wall-clock time (updated every second) and reference-time counter (updated every 20 ms and available only when running at elevated priority).
    >
Grandfather time is the last process to be stopped.
When your time comes to an end - you too will be 'shutdown' (chances of a successful recovery are not good even with extensive logs).
Here's hoping that your personal shutdown is 'normal' and not 'immediate' or 'abort'!

  • Configure Shared Server

    Hello All Gurus;
I m a new bie to oracle 9i working on Windows XP sp1. Where learning Configuring and Tuning Shared Server. I could not found the answer to the question how to configure a shared server or define in a Database that shared server will be used. Where and when it is to be defined on .... session/user/database level ?
    Pl. Guide me
    Thank You

    Hi Ora-boy,
Where learning Configuring and Tuning Shared Server. First, never use shared servers (MTS) if you have enough RAM:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_mts_multithreaded_servers_shared.htm
Oracle's Tom Kyte notes that the MTS should not be used without a "real reason" and he notes that shared server connections are slower than with dedicated database connections (Oracle's default behavior):
"Unless you have a real reason to use MTS -- don't."
"a shared server connection is by design "slower" than a dedicated server (more stuff goes on, more complex) it is most likely only getting in the way."
Also, here are my notes on configuring shared servers:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/concepts/shared_pool_mts.htm
    Hope this helps. . .

  • Migrating from  Dedicated Server to Shared server

    Hi,
Please let me know how to configure from Dedicated server to Shared server in oracle 10g.
    Any advises would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    - sridhar

It is not that hard, you only need to configure four parameters and check the listener to verify this has already been configured and registered. On the other hand, you should configure your tnsnames.ora file so you have the alternative to connect by means of a shared or a dedicated oracle server, otherwise the default, once the dispatchers and the shared server processes are configured will be shared server.
The four parameters to configure at the initialization parameter file are:
    dispatchers
    max_dispatchers
    shared_servers
    max_shared_servers
and you should create an entry at the tnsnames.ora file that declares a (server=dedicated) that will be used to connect by means of a dedicated server.
Further details on Howto configure the shared server can be found here --> Configuring Oracle Database for Shared Server.
One side note I'd like to add, shared server is suitable for scaleability in OLTP environments, if your kind of job is either batch or DDS you should open a connection by means of a dedicated server, otherwise you'll create a severe bottleneck.
