Schannel errors - appears to be causing blue screens

Hi guys
Every once in a while (a few times a month) our RDS server (server 200r82 hyper-v VM) decides to blue screen and restart.
Each and every time it crashes, we notice hundreds and hundreds of schannel errors appearing just before the crash (event ID 36888)
Well, it did it again this afternoon, and over the last 12 hours we noticed 1008 instances of this error, with 60 odd messages appearing within 0.2 seconds of each other, and 2 minutes before the crash.
I also noticed that just before the crash, there were a handful of services which hung seconds before the logged unexpected shutdown event. These services are as follows.
- UmRDPService
- WPDBusEnum
- UxSMS
- Audio Endpoint Builder
After the crash, it doesnt log any Schannel errors. although, saying this now and just checking again, it looks like its logged 127 instances of the same schannel error, starting from after around 2 hours of bringing the server back online.
Do these Schannel errors cause blue screens/crashes? Or is it something else I should be looking at... I'm at a loss, as there's not a lot more in the way of logs that seem to be telling me what's going on..

Hi EsDood,
Would you please let me know complete message of Event ID
36888? For Event ID 36888, it generally occur if a user tries to access a web site using HTTP but specifies an SSL port in the URL. Please check the Schannel tracing log if find relevant clues.

error, Event ID 36888? - IS there a way to Identify what causes Schannel to log error?
In addition, I noticed that a BSOD issue occurred on the Windows Server 2008 R2. Troubleshoot this kind of
kernel crash issue, we need to analyze the crash dump file to narrow down the root cause of the issue. Did you get any dump files? If get, please refer to
KB315263 and check if can help you.

  • Skype video crashes my GPU driver and causes blue screen.

    Hello,
Installed a new copy of windows and got the latest version of skype for my PC (on wich skype worked just fine, video calls, voice calls, but it was an older version. No hardware changes)
With the new skype, I , for the least, get driver crashes, and for the most, a blue screen, when I just go to options to set up my webcam. As soon as I see the square "loading" my webcam in the options, everything freezes and I get a driver crash or a blue screen.
    Current specs:
    i5 4440, stock clocks
    2x8gb 1333 ddr3 1.5v ram, stock
    R7 260x, stock
500w PSU, not the best quality, But I also tried a 1000w platinum PSU, and same resaults.
last error code I remeber from the blue screen was: 0x00000116
I know it is related to the GPU, but it doesn't have power deficiency, since I manage to run heavy games just fine.By the way, my webcam works just fine on different web sites, so it's not the webcam.
    What I tried:
-Degrading to the oldest supported version by skype
    -Degrading video drivers
    -Using different webcams
-Installed all windows 7 64 bit updates
    edit:
skype 6.14 works, but newer versions crash my GPU drivers and cause blue screen

I would suggest uninstalling Droidcam as it could be the source of some delays assisting in causing the problem.  TDR problems occur when your videocard is unable to respond in 2 seconds for a variety of reasons (heat, tweaks), forcefully resetting the card.  Some people increase this delay in their registry from 2 to up to 10 seconds to give the card time to catch up so that a reset doesn't occur.  You can try this MS fix it which increases this delay. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946

  • Iphone upgrade has crashed my Iphone and causes blue screen error on PC

I just tried to upgrade my software and half way through my PC crashed. It said a blue screen error had occurred.
Itunes now shows that my phone needs to be restored, but everytime I try to do my PC crashes again. This has now happened three times in 1 hour. I have Itunes v.8.0 on my pc but this hasnt been a problem till now. I am so angry that I have lost everything on my phone due to a problem like this. Can anyone advise how I can restore my phone without totally killing my laptop?

With the blue screen it can be a few things that are interifering with it. First thing unplug anything from the usb ports on your computer and if you have like a logtech webcam make sure it is unplugged and also that if it is built in disable the driver. If you are on a pc you may want to go into device manager and update your usb drivers on your computer.

  • SOLUTION: Flash Video Causing Blue Screen & Lockups

Symptoms:  While playing a flash video, your screen locks up; goes black; you can hear audio in the background; and/or Blue Screen of Death.  The Blue Screen indicates a fault in nv4_disp.dll.
    =================  SOLUTION   =================
Newer versions of Nvidia Drivers are causing the problem.    Disabling hardware acceleration in Flash only reduces the frequency of the lockups, but does not resolve the issue.
Use this version of the Nvidia driver (but no later):   266.58
    Get it here:  http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
This is confirmed to resolve the problem.
Later Nvidia drivers added CUDA 4.0 (Unified Virtual Addressing (UVA) and GPUDirect™ v2.0) which is the root cause of the issue with "older" cards such as the 200 series and the 8 series.
If you have a somewhat older graphics card, there really is little need to update past version 266.58.

  • IPOD causes "Blue Screen of Death" with physical memory dump

Plugged in the IPOD into USB port on computer. It shows "found USB device" and then 5-10 seconds later I get the blue screen of death and a notification that there is a driver error and a physical memory dump as occurred.
Spent two hours with Apple people and Dell people this morning and nothing. I have updated drivers, flashed my bios, uninstalled and then reinstalled the latest version of Itunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:

if you're just seeing a flash of a blue screen, we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • I tune causeing blue screen

Whenever I open Itunes it causes a blue screen with the error saying somthing about paged in a nonpaged area there is really nothing else to go on then that.

    hi Redlion!
just doublechecking. is that an "0x00000050: PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGEDAREA" that you're getting, or are you getting different numerical and/or text codes with your blue screen?

  • Clicking on firefox icon causes blue screen crash

This began Friday, Feb. 25, about mid day. The only changes to the system that morning were an update to an Adobe plugin, either Flash player or Shockwave, I'm not sure, and an update to the Scottrade Elite desktop trading app. Both of those changes occurred about 0900. The problems began about 1130 when the system, Windows 7 Home Premium had a blue screen crash. From that time on, I have uninstalled each of the apps mentioned. I cannot open Firefox to work on the plugins becuase every time I click on the icon I get a blue screen crash with the words "Page fault in non paged area" at the top. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the Firefox app with no apparent beneficial effect. The Scottrade trading app has been reinstalled and works well, causing no further probs.

    Hello mrcart,
i think it is unlikely that firefox itself is causing an operating system crash, i had some time back an similar issue where a system of a friend of mine was crashing while using IE - thats the only app he used ... the system in his case had faulty ram, and i suspect you are facing some sort of hardware problem or faulty device driver.
Please read this (also lists steps what you can do):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957625.aspx
(personally) I would suggest you start by checking your ram, you can do this in two ways:
Search in your Windows 7 Start Menu for "ram", you should find something like "Diagnose your computer´s memory problems"
... Or, you use the memtest86+ tool from here (e.g. download the iso, burn it and boot from the cd):
    http://www.memtest.org/
Check your eventlog for errors (e.g. disk errors, timeouts, etc).
If you cannot track the problem down (i would suspect a hardware problem or faulty device driver ... e.g. it could be your video card driver doing something wrong) you should seek help at your computer manufacturer, an experienced friend, or using some forum.
    kind regards,
    John Kirk.

  • Adding queue into a DAQ loop might cause blue screen

    Hi
I am trying to use VISA to fetch data from a USB port. The data is put into a queue which is decoded in another thread. The pic below shows how my vi looks like.
The problem is that after around 15mins of execution the windows got blue screen. The error message has to do with usbser.sys.
I was at first suspicious of the USB virtual COM port's driver. However after I eliminate the queue part of this vi the blue screen problem is gone. The modified vi is like this:
It seems that this queue is actually causing the pc blue screen problem.
I have tried it with several different pcs and got the same result. I am using windows OS. 64bit and 32 bit have the same problem.
The blue screen message is here:
Has anyone encountered the same problem or had some clue of this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I agree with Bjorn, the problem is still likely to be with your USB read implementation.
Consider the possibility that your system is not reading from the USB buffer sufficiently quickly. What value is in Bytes at Port? Is this value increasing rapidly (faster than you are reading?)
Removing the Enqueue function perhaps also indicates that the queue write is taking time and preventing the while loop from spinning fast enough which could occur if the queue has a maximum element count (maybe you define the named queue elsewhere with a count limit and are failing to remove the queued elements quickly enough to prevent it from filling up?). You have no timeout wired to the enqueue function which means it will wait as long as it takes, stopping the loop. You might be better with a short (10ms) timeout, followed by a check to make sure it doesn't timeout.
Also consider using shift registers on your while loop borders to ensure the VISA ref is maintained, the queue ref is maintained and the errors are maintained (although these aren't likely to be the source of your problem, it's always good practice to maintain your error data for handling).

  • Ipod touch causing blue screen

I'm new here so I hope I explain this properly. I have the latest version of itunes installed on my computer with a 1G nano. I just got a ipod touch. I pluged it into my usb port like I did with the nano and it moved all my music onto the touch. The problem now is when i try to plug the touch back into my computer it boots out and goes to the blue screen and says an unexpected error ocured and one or more disks need to be scaned. The computer boots back up and all is well until I try and plug the touch back in and the same thing happens.
    Any help would be great.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Wireless adapter causing blue screen

Hello,About a month ago on my Lenovo Ideapad Z580, I was using the internet when it said I was no longer connected.  When I tried troubleshooting, it reset the wireless connection adapter and gave me a blue screen.  When it restarted and I tried troubleshootingt it again, it enabled the adapter and worked fine.  Since that first time, this BSOD has happened every day, sometimes multiple times a day, but not everytime I am on the internet. I have tried doing a system restore at a few different points, but the restore always ends in an error.  I checked at the driver for the wireless adapter is up to date. Please advise on what I can do to fix this problem. Thank you,Stephanie

The symptoms you describe could be symptomatic of a variety of things to include hardware/software issues, overheating caused by a failed processor fan, bad memory (RAM), failing or underpowered power supply, CPU overheating, motherboard, video card, faulty or unsigned device drivers, CMOS battery going bad, BIOS and firmware problems, dirty hardware components, programs hanging or unresponsive in the background, and even malware. If the computer is overheating, it usually begins to shutdown/restart on a more regular basis.
If the machine is only crashing at home after establishing a connection but not at work when establishing a connection, then its probably an issue with your network configuration or something (i.e. wireless adapter) causing a conflict and not a malware issue.
The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error is usually due to a bad driver or faulty/incompatible hardware or software. This error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high.

  • Photoshop CC and 2014 spot healing brush tool causing blue screen on windows 8.1

    Hi,
The problem is when I'm using spot healing brush tool soon as apply it it causing fatal error on my windows. I have all suite up to date.
    please advice.

First thing to do is check you have all the latest device drivers for all your devices and all windows 8 updates. Printer drivers, Display Drivers, Network drivers etc.   It is not possible for an Application program like Photoshop.exe to cause a Blue Screen. However Applications use devices and device drivers are able to do things application programs can not do.

  • Vpn client causing blue screen on windows xp

Hi all, we have rolled out cisco vpn client to most of our laptops, we have now lots of users experiencing the blue screen of death when remotley connected.
Does anyone know why this is?
    Cheers
    Carl

If you are using the VPN client 3.6.1 it might cause a Windows BlueScreen critical error. This problem results from incorrect processing by the VPN Client of a return DDNS packet from a DNS server that does not implement DDNS.
If this problem is encountered, cvpndrv.sys (Cisco VPN Driver) would cause the blue screen.
    Release 3.6.3 resolves the issues

  • IPod touch causes "blue screen" crash on connection

So, following a defrag on my XP based pc, when I connect my iPod touch to the pc via USB, the PC immediately blue screens. (STOP 0x0000007E 0xc00000005 0x00000000 0xf78ed7c4 0xf78ed4c0).
I suspect it may be the iPod touch USB driver? Is that likely? If so, how do I remove the corrupt driver and reinstall?
    Thanks

Thankfully, after a few changes and reviewing some of the other posts in this excellent forum, I have resolved the problem. It had nothing to do with the defrag at all. What I had omitted was that prior to the blue screen, I had installed the free Photoshop Mobile App from Adobe. By editing and saving a photo, a new directory was created in the photo albums. Then when I connected the iPod to my PC, for reasons best known to Aple (but see various other threads in this forum) the pc thought the iPod was a camera, and tried to load a USB camera driver. I assume this must have conflicted with an existing USB driver on my pc, causing it to "blue screen". By totally removing the app and the new album on my iPod, I was able to make my pc recognise the iPod as an iPod again. Shame, I thought the photoshop app was good, but I shall avoid it (and any other app that creates albums / photos) in future.
Is there any obvious way to alert Apple to these sort of problems with third party apps - or possibly with their OS on the iPod which should be able to stop errors like this?

  • Desktop Software causing Blue Screen!?

    Hey Peeps,
I hope there's someone out there that can help with this. I have a BlackBerry Curve with BlackBerry Desktop Software version 6.1 installed. Every time I connect my BlackBerry through the Desktop Software, my computer crashes with a blue screen. It doesn't matter whether you restart the computer or not, the same error appears. What I have noticed is that my processor usage goes up to 100%, and the temperatures of both cores exceeds 75 degrees during the connection. After that, the system crashes. Also, it is not because of the heat or processor usage that the system crashes (system is set to auto-sleep on 95 degrees).
I tried connecting to my BB from both of my systems but no luck. I have also tried downgrading the application by uninstalling the latest version and installing the older version (v6.0). For some reason I can get hold of the older version 5.0. Is there anyone that is experiencing the same problem or maybe have a solution to this problem?
    My system configurations:
    Primary System:
    AMD Athlon X2;
    4GB RAM;
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64
    Secondary System:
