Schedule Approval of Updates

I have WSUS 3.2.7600.226.
Is there a way to schedule the approval of updates for a specific group?
For example, I want certain updates approved at 10:30pm on a certain date for a specific computer group.
Please let me know if this is possible and thanks for the help.

No. You cannot schedule the *APPROVAL* of updates. Period. It is an interactive-only task.
But, methinks it's not the approval that you're interested in scheduling, but rather the
installation.
So, with that presumption, let me offer this answer:
It is NOT possible to schedule updates to install at half past the hour (with the WSUS native console); it is possible to schedule updates to install at the TOP of the hour.
It is NOT possible to schedule installation by WSUS Target Group (with the WSUS native console).
To schedule update installations to a specific group, use a GPO with the appropriate scheduled installation time and Security Group Filtering on that GPO to apply the GPO to the specific computer group (i.e. AD Security Group) of interest.
However, it is worthy of note that my employer's Patch Manager product does allow the scheduling of approvals and installations with one-minute granularity, if
approvals is really what you meant.

My company requires me to use the most recent IOS version approved by corporate, flight department and the FAA. This is never initially the same rev as the current IOS revision available from Apple for install. There is always a gap between when Apple releases the update and when its approved for us. My not infrequent dilemna is that occasionally, at least, we are not approved to update to a more recent revision to IOS, until the day of an even more recent revision release, which is of course, not yet approved for my group.
Yet, we are required to always use the most recent company and FAA approved rev. Where may I find a link to the (recently) outdated install file or what other process would allow compliance with my situation?

This is a concern amoung many corporate users. It's going to take somekind of policy change with apple.

Scheduling a signature update through MC

How can you schedule a signature update to take place for example at 3:00 in the morning? When I do a signature update through MC, I select the sensor I want to update then click continue and it updates at that time. Can I schedule this somehow? I am using IDS MC and apply updates through the Management Center.Thanks for the help.

Schedule line not update thru EDI (VA32/VA33)- DELINS X12-830

I am working in EDI X12-830 inbound process for message type DELINS. The inbound process is successfully posted but the problem is, it deletes the old Schedule line and add the current schedule and also I cant find any value in the schedule line tab, it only changes the value in the order quantity in Sales A Tab. My requirement is I need to update the new schedule line coming from the IDOC and keep old schedule line as it. And all the schedule line should updated in the Schedule line Tab of Item (VA32 or VA33).

I've already done that but the validations persists. As xelsysadm, I've tryed to provision a resource to myself and I've got the same error message.
OIM is executing the sql SELECT rqu.usr_key FROM rqu WHERE req_key = 74. As the usr_key is equals to the task assignee... There is no query to get the resource authorizers.
The approval task is assigned to a user group.
Any suggestion about that?
My Solution: We decided for those users, We can do a direct provisioning (OIM Administrator) or have access policies without approval :-(

Scheduler and windows update unavailable / unresponsive,

Issue:
Windows Update & Task Scheduler stop working, RDP then fails and a day later the system eventually becomes completely unresponsive and require a reboots to resolve, servers are needing to be rebooted every week on average.
Environment:
Server 2012: all receive same windows updates and have the same running services and applications installed,
all mirror images of DB01

AVG Antivirus
Enterprise Recon Node - Ground labs

BMC Server Automation Agent

Symptoms:
Windows Update is not working
(stuck in stopping state, accessing via control panel is unresponsive)
Task Scheduler not working
it shows a stop sign / busy sign (Service is running, cannot see or create scheduled tasks)
RDP eventually stops working.
Above 3 services are started by the same instance (PID) of svchost.exe , killing the svchost.exe instance that started scheduler and windows update services also kills RDP and is not a solution.

As per my research, those events which related to Device Setup Manager generated because Device Setup Manager just goes out and pings windows update
every night to see if any devices that are installed and set up to use Windows Update to update the corresponding drivers.
Currently, I suggest we make sure the drivers on your server are all up to date via Device Manager. Meanwhile, please try setting up the Windows Update settings from
installing update automatically to manually installing updates. Then restart the server to monitor the issue.
After all the above, if the issue persists, could you please help collect the following information?

Configuring approval for update of some profile attributes

I need to configure approval when some of the profile attributes are updated.
1. How do i know which attribute is updated?
2. How do i configure approval ?

The standard strategy for detecting which attribute has been updated is to add a hidden "shadow" attribute for each attribute.
Implementing your scenario turns out to be a bit complex but I think the following approach should work.
To implement your scenario you also need a boolean flag for each attribute kept in a db table or lookup table (not on the USR form). This flag is normally set to false.
When a change comes in the shadow attribute is used to detect which attribute is updated through a post insert event handler (or entity adapter). This adapter sets the flag to true, resets the main attribute to the value kept in the shadow attribute and kicks off the request. The entity adapter always checks the flag as the first step in the flow and if the flag is set the entity adapter does nothing.
This will trigger the event handler but as the two attributes now are identical nothing happens.
When the approval is done either the change is approved or denied.
In the case of approval the provisioning code sets the flag to false and writes the new value to the main attribute, next to the shadow attribute and finally sets the flag.
In case of denied you need to reset the flag to false. Not exactly sure if you can do this as part of the deny workflow or if you would have to create a scheduled task that does this.
A bit complex but should solve your problem.

Approving an updated, but unreleased, app

Hi there,
We're working on a large (600+ page) app on behalf of a client. Rather than trying to get the whole thing approved we'd like to submit it in three stages (corresponding to sections of content within the app). We're not anticipating issue, but this way we're hoping that any potential problems would get flagged up well in advance.
However, we are working towards a single release date, we only want to release when the whole thing is complete. So although we'd submit the first iteration quite soon it would be scheduled for release a couple of months later. Hopefully once the first attempt is approved we'd re-submit an update with the second load of content added.
Does anyone know if are we likely to create any problems for ourselves by re-submitting a previously approved, but unreleased, app? I'd love to hear from anyone who'd done anything similar.

Approval on updation of a document

Dear experts
I have a query. Can we create a workflow for the updation of already approved document?
Scenario:
Person1 : Publish a doc. D1 (goes for approval)
Admin : Approves it
Person1 : Make changes to doc. D1
at this point of time is it possible to send the doc for approval again?
Or will this happen once we enable Approval process for that doc?

Hi Aparnna,
If approval has been switched on, each change on an approved document will put this changed document into the starting point of the workflow again.
For endusers (with only read permission on that document), that means that the document isn't published any more (as long as it isn't published by approval again).
If versioning has been activated, it's a bit different. In this case, the end-users always see the last document in the version list which has been published: If V1 has been published, and somebody creates a V2 of the same document by changing it's content, this V2 has to be approved again, and as long this hasn't been done, end-users still see V1. As soon as V2 has been approved, end-users will see V2.

Sales Order Schedule Lines getting updated

Hi,
In my system when I am changing the delivery date of 'AB' confirmation in the Purchase order Item level confirmations, the corresponding Sales Order' schedule line is also getting updated with the delivery date.
So, my question is is this a standard SAP functionality or this fuctionality has been implemented through BADI, Exits etc.

This is standard SAP behavior. In 3rd party sale process, the changes done to PO (qty, dates) are updated automatically in the sales order.

How to add a New schedule line and update the order quantity?

Hi all,
I have to add a new schedule line in VA01/VA02 so that when ther is partial confirmed quantity against a schedule line, we have to create a new schdule line based on the existing so that it will contain confirmed in one and unconfirmed in the other.
The schedule line will split once the user go to Header data screen in VA01/VA02. So I used USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBAK user exits in MV45AFZZ include program.
I splited the order quantity against the confirmed quantity and added it as new schedule line in the XVBEP internal table and update UPDKZ flags for XVBEP & YVBEP.
Could anyone tell me is there any other way to do this without updating XVBEP? Because it is affecting some other place because of index table is not updating. How to you think use if update xvbap-etenr_high and update index table IVBEP1 for new line insert into XVBEP instead directly inseritng it into?
My code as follows:
xvbep-WMENG = t_temp-WMENG .
modify xvbep TRANSPORTING WMENG.
t_temp1- ETENR = '0002'.
if SY-SUBRC <> 0.

Schedule Approval Reports

Hi All,
Please clarify the doubts,
In Content Management -> Reports -> Approval Maintenance Reports, how to schedule the reports and how to make it to run. When I create a schedule, do I need to start that ? If I start the schedule the newly generated report is running, but when I click on the Running Reports, there are no reports are shown and also if I navigate to some other page and again visit to the same page the running report is stopped automatically even though I scheduled to repeat on every hour.
Once the reports are generated how to send these reports through mail for hourly basis automatically.

For frame 'Action Settings', try with 'Processing when saving document' in drop-down list for "Processing time".
This customizing should allow you to send Bid Invitation to bidder(s) depending on your permitted processing types and your output conditions for those processing types.

How do I get a reliable schedule for automatic update in Windows Server 2012 R2?

I don't understand why MS broke the automatic update in Windows Server 2012 R2. In previous versions, I used to set it for automatic updates - Saturdays at 2AM. I can no longer pick a weekly update in the GUI and the time seems to have no impact on its capricious
reboots due to updates. It might happen 2 days later at noon. The best option for now is to just shut off the automatic updates but I'm reading this issue has been around since 2012 R1. There supposedly is a fix/patch for
2012 but it doesn't say if the patch is for 2012 R2 and the automatic updates haven't installed a fix that actually fixes what is broken with the automatic updates.
Why even leave the GUI for automatic updates if it doesn't mean anything?
Is there a simple registry key I can change so updates occur according to the schedule that you created in the GUI? Please no powershell - worst crutch MS ever created to not fix their own gui.
I'm seeing people have tried some advanced work around using GPO but many said those don't work reliably either on hosts or domain controllers.
