Scheduled export hangs very often

Hi friends,
I've scheduled export running on DB server-Windows. I've created a batch file with export commands for about 5 databases and scheduled the job to run this batch file every night around 9 pm.
But, the export hangs quite often atleast 1-2 night a week with this message and when I come in the morning I had to hit enter for it to proceed:
batch file: (I've replaced the username, pwd etc in the below cmd, cannot provide on the forums...)
exp system/pwd@db1 file=exp_db1_full.dmp log=exp_db1_full.log full=y buffer=400000
exp username/pwd@db2 file=db2_user.dmp log=db2_user.log buffer=400000
exp system/pwd@db3 file=exp_db3_full.dmp log=exp_db3_full.log full=y buffer=400000
exp username/pwd@db4 file=db4_user.dmp log=db4_user.log buffer=300000
exp username/pwd@db5 file=db5_user.dmp log=db5_user.log buffer=300000
D:\>exp username/pwd@db4  file=db4_user.dmp log=db4_user.log buffer=300000

EXP-00028: failed to open dbname_user.dmp for write
Export file: EXPDAT.DMP >It hangs mostly for db3,db4 or db5 exports.. Not consistent either. Just stops with this command. Please give me your suggestions...
Thanks a lot

It could be a couple of issues:
1. The file you gave it may be maxing out size wise and since there is no other file to use, exp builds the default file
expdat.dmp and prompts the user to make sure it is ok to use that file. To get around this, you could add a second
filename to the exp commands. If this happens for more than one job, you are overwriting the expdat.dmp file from the
previous job.
2. If for some reason it can't open that file, it would prompt for the expdat.dmp file.
So, by hitting <cr> when prompted, your exp job will write to the expdat.dmp file. It would be interesting to look at the size of the expdat.dmp file and the size of the file you thought the export was going to write to.

  • InDesign getting hanged very often

    Hello All,
We recently upgraded our license from CS4 to CS5.5 and found that InDesign is getting hanged very often during find & replace, loading XML files, etc. Actually we faced like this issue in CS3, and when we upgraded to CS4, this issue was found resolved. But now again facing the same hanging issue, can anyone of you facing this issue or let me know how we rectify this issue?
Please respond at the earliest, since we are planning to upgrade many licenses.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

We don't have enough information to say with any reliability.
To know, you would need to see the stack trace associated with the process.
Under XP, that is easy. Under Windows 7, it is hard. You can try installing DRWTSN32 from an XP system, or you can try installing WinDBG. Both of these are not turnkey solutions that work easily, and if you get stuck, there is only very limited help. Try finding a Windows systems programmer to help you.
But yes, it is most *likely* (I would say 14 times out of 15) that this is InDesign's fault.

  • Iphone 3GS 16GB hang/freez very often

    Dear all,
I bought an Iphone 3GS 16GB around 2 months ago and I've used it everyday. The Iphone is hang/freeze very often, when it happens I follow the advice which I searched on apple.com: turn off and turn on the Iphone, after that, it's fine but it still happens very often so I tried to restore the firmware from Apple (use Itunes for restoring), I hope it's fine but now it still exists but the time is not very often.
Please advise whether my issue come from Iphone hardware or not.
    Thank you very much!

I've had the same issue since day 1 of getting the 3GS. I had the original iPhone and it worked flawlessly but the 3GS is a PoS. It won't sync with Windows 7, it hangs or freezes constantly. I am very disappointed. My next phone will be an Android OS

It appears that you may have a problem with the hardware in your machine. Try booting to the Apple Hardware Test suite and run a full test to both check sensors on the system (of which there are many) along with the integrity of the system's memory (see here for how to do this: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57352461-263/how-to-invoke-and-interpret-th e-apple-hardware-tests/).
If the hardware tests come up with no errors or warnings, then try seeing if the system will run stably in Safe Mode (boot with the Shift key held to do this). It very well could be a third-party kernel extension that could be resulting in this crash, though the crash report you included suggests its triggerd by the use of Apple's "HWSensor" extension (further suggesting a hardware malfunction).
Some MacBook Pro systems from 2010 had graphics-related issues (black screen hangs, etc.) so this could be related if as your profile says the system is a MacBook Pro from 2010.

  • ORA-03114 very often a day

    Hi
We have a 11g (11.2.0.2.0) on a Win2K8 R2 and since a few weeks our clients have very often some 03114 errors and the ERP is aborting.
First I realized the Open_Cursors were set too low on the server so I increased it to 2000 but it looks like it wasn't the only one problem.
TNSPING normaly has 0 or 10 msec but every 10 seconds it has a very long delay with more than 2000 or sometimes 3000 msec!!!
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = 172.17.37.70)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = PCERP)))
    OK (10 msec)
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = 172.17.37.70)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = PCERP)))
    OK (2010 msec)
I thought we have maybe a Network problem and that's why we get some 03114 from time to time on the client side, but I have the same on the Database sever istself! So a TNSPIN on the 2008 R2 host should not go out to the LAN, right? So if I have the same behaviour on the Server, sometimes 3000msec it must be a Oracle DB or Listener problem, agree?
I checked the Listener.log but nothing looks like an error.
The Listener Alert log has every second an entry like below:
    msg time='2012-06-08T12:14:45.978+02:00' org_id='oracle' comp_id='tnslsnr'

These ::1 entries are looking like IPV6 adresses, but we have disabled the V6 protocol on the Win2k8 server and what means 'UNKNOWN level=16'?

  • I get hangs using plug-ins (NIK), and can't export (hangs/crashes). Anyone experiencing this?

Updated Aperture today (3.4.3) running 10.8.2. Now I get hangs using plug-ins (NIK), and can't export (hangs/crashes). Anyone experiencing this?

    Andrew,
In general, I've found the Nik plug-ins to be the least problematic of all that I use. Unfortunately you haven't provided enough information so that help can be focused on your problem. So here are some of the standard steps to take.
    1. Make sure you are running Nik's latest versions. There were earlier ones that didn't work properly with ML.
    2. Which plug-ings are the problem?
    3. Have you tried the repair/rebuild option on your Aperture database? Often what appears to be problems with      a 3rd party item actually stem from some sort of fault in the database.
    4. If you're really stuck do the following steps: A. Delete the Nik plug-ings. B. Repair/rebuild the database. C.      Download Nik's latest versions. D. Reinstall. E. Test.
This is a generic problem solving approach that fixes many things. Also, you should examine if it is a particularly type of file or set of photos or something specific in the images you are working on. A corrupt image, for example, can produce really weird things on occasion.
Hopefully some of this is useful. If not, more detail is needed.

    Hi,
I believe that your line keeps bouncing due to Data
    Carrier Detect(DCD) going down. I didn't see a copy
of the interface config but do you have the following
    command under your interface?
    half-duplex controlled-carrier
This in conjunction with the dcd-txstart-delay and
dcd-drop-delay settings will cause the DCE to drop
    DCD frequently.
These are for very specialized environments which
probably are not what you have.
What is your environment, with respect to the
connection to the AS/400? Is it just a Cisco DCE
cable connected to an AS/400 cable? Or are there
    other cables/switches/modems involved?
If you just have the Cisco DCE cable connected to
the AS/400's cable then you do not need that command.
Otherwise, it is possible you have a cable or
    physical interface problem.
Please include your interface's config if this
information wasn't enough to resolve the problem.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ed Mazurek

  • Transport queue gets closed very often

We found out transport queue gets closed very often on QAS system. We open it.
However what is the reason. Could it be because of an job is sheduled to import every 15 minutes. or is it something wrong

    Hello Jan,
Yes, its expected behavior because when import runs, TMS lock the import queue for avoiding incosistency.
As long as the import is running or is scheduled, you see this status is displayed in the Import Overview with either This graphic is explained in the accompanying text or This graphic is explained in the accompanying text. After the import, the import queue is opened again automatically by the transport control program.
