Scheduled sleep time is not correct in OS X 10.10.2

I have my computer scheduled to sleep every day at a certain time.  The dialog box warning that the system will sleep in 10 minutes comes up, however, the actual time it tries to go to sleep is wrong. I tried changing the time +/- an hour but it still didn't work. I tried changing from automatic to manual time settings also. Is there a way to get the sleep time to sync to the time shown in the menu bar (and presumably the system time)?

Do a backup.
Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences.com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Time Zones not correctly converted in iPhone Calendar

Problem with recurring meetings that were scheduled by a meeting organizer in a different time zone than my "home" time zone (as configured on the iPhone time zone support).
I am unable to sync or connect directly to my corporate Exchange Calendar due to strict corporate security settings. However, I am able to publish my calendar from Outlook 2007 to the internet. I am publishing my calendar to Office Live. I can then subscribe to my Office Live calendar from the iPhone (3Gs iPhone OS 3.1). Single occurrence meetings seems to translate time zone information fine. In all cases (single or recurring from any time zone) show up fine when I view them via Office Live and/or Outlook 2007.
The problem is the recurring meetings that were originally scheduled in a different (than my "home" time zone that I have configured on my iPhone Calendar time zone support settings) are showing up in the iPhone Calendar incorrectly. A meeting scheduled for 10:00 AM CST is showing up in my iPhone at 10:00 AM PST instead of 08:00 AM PST. I tried turning off time zone support on the iPhone but it didn't make any difference. I believe that setting is really only for meetings scheduled from the iPhone. The setup I described above is a read-only setup from an iPhone perspective.
Interesting that single occurrence meetings work fine... Is this just a bug in the iPhone Calendar app or issue with the way Microsoft represents time zones in recurring meetings?
I should also note that the iPhone Calendar also appears to have problems when a single occurrence of a recurring meeting is changed as well.

How about putting together the information about this nasty bug at a single place in this forum?

  • Time was not correct on dc which is hyper-v virtual machine

    My enviroment:
    1 physical server dell R720
    Role: Hyper-V host
    OS: Windows 2008 R2 SP1
    Domain: join to domain xx.com
    1 virtual machine
    Role: DC+DNS+DHCP
    OS: Windows 2008 R2 SP1
    Domain: xx.com (olny one dc)
    Located on: this hyper-v host
    Issue:
I found time of virtual machine (this only one dc) was slower than current time. At that moment, time on host machine also slower, and same as dc. When I manual adjust this time to correct. It would go wrong again.
Considering time sync rule of domain and hyper-v, I just unchecked 'Time Synchoniation' on hyper-v intergrate services. Howerver time was slower again after few days.
Could it be possible wrong on hyper-v host which join to domain??
So could you give me some suggestion for this? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You should not need to disable Hyper-V time synchronization in order to use a different time synchronization source.
" if you are running a Domain Controller inside a virtual machine I would recommend that you leave Hyper-V time synchronization enabled but that you also setup an external time source.  You can do this by going to this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042 and following the steps outlined in the “Configuring the Windows Time service to use an external time source” section. "
Here is a grate article about time synchronization in hyper-v :

    Hope it helps

  • Time is not correct in CME even though it is right on the router it runs from

    Hi all,
We have a 2911 that is running CME on top of. The router time is correct but within the CME GUI it is one hour fast. I checked all the setting with timezone and others and it seems to be correct.
In the GUI i tried to change the time and it will just revert whenever I hit apply. I enabled the setting that allows change time in GUI.
    Please see attached
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
I did enter the time-zone info under the telephony-service configuration mode. just to be sure i did it again.
same effect, the router from cli will display the correct time, the phones will display the correct time, but if you goto http://routerip/ccme.html and click on system the time is 1 hour faster.
unity which syncs time from this router (set as ntp master) will also have timestamp 1 hour fast.

  • Q10 Notifications time do not correctly follow providers timezone

    Hello,
Ever since I traveled to Venezuela whos time zone is 4.5 hours Caracas time, I've had problems with the time on my Q10. I set my providers date and time automatically and it does. The problem is that all my messages in Hub arrive with a difference in time of 4 hours and a half. Also my calendar is off notifying me by 4.5 hours. I have talked to my provider and blackberry support and they say they cant help me. Has this happen to any one? Please help me

    Hi adventureboy,
Sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue with your Calendar notifications.
If you create the appointment using your local device Calendar (as apposed to your Exchange one) does the same notification issue occur?
When you are creating the Calendar appointment, are you manually changing the Time Zone to reflect the time or using the device Time Zone to create the appointment?
    Thanks!

  • WVC210, Schedule time to not broadcast.

I've got a WVC210 camera setup and working fine through a wireless router. I've also got a recording schedule setup with the latest video monitoring software. Now I need to setup the camera so that it does not broadcast during a set time.
Is anyone aware of a method of scheduling a time to not broadcast?
    Thanks ahead of time.

    Chase,
The WVC210 does not have any timer function. I hate to say this but the best way to shut it down for a period of time is to plug it into an inexpensive lamp timer. I am hoping for some type of timer functionality in future cameras.

  • Power saver sleep timer setting ignored

At some point my computer has stopped responding to the sleep timer setting of the energy saver (i.e. the pilot light never goes to fluctuating brightness). I can still put it to sleep manually or via a scheduled sleep time, but it will not sleep after the preset time of inactivity. The display, however, does turn off after the preset time period. I have not added new hardware or software other than the Apple updates. I have tried removing all the USB cables except the keyboard and mouse, but that did not help. Is there some way to identify software that may be causing this problem?

I have the exact same problem on my Macbook Pro. I spent almost 3 hours with a Genius at my local Apple sore trying to solve this problem. After doing every test he could think of, the Genious decided to compare my computer with others in the store. As it turns out, the sleep timer did not work on any of the store's Macbook Pros, some of the Macbooks, and some of the mac minis. I then realized that my mac started having these problems after i updated to 10.5.2. The Genius thought that this was a bug in the new OS. He filed an official bug report with Apple, and told me to wait for Apple to hopefully fix it in 10.5.3. The new OS had no effect. I think were stuck with what i think is a major bug.

  • No Sleep Timer or scheduled time on/off!!!

I'm a very new customer.  Just had phone/internet/tv service installed 2 days ago.
Not happy that there is no sleep time or scheduled time on and off on the STBs.  I used both these common features regularly when I was an Optimum customer. I realize I can use the sleep timer on my tv if I like to fall asleep with it on.  But why would Verizon in the very least have the box turn off on its own after say 6 hours of inactivity?
This is the 21st century Verizon!!! When I called I was told there were no plans to add these features.  COME ON VERIZON! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

Verizon will not be adding a sleep timer. The reason is that while adding a sleep timer to the stb is possible. It will only turn off the STB, not the tv. The TV would remain on. Now in and of itself, this doesnt sound like anything to worry about, until you consider that all the STB updates are done in the middle of the night (2-3am). Updates to the stb turn it on and off as it reboots and updates. This would cause the pic and sound on the TV to come back on in the middle of the night. Not good.
In fact that is the reason for the "press menu to watch fios tv" message on the TV that was added with IMG 1.6.  Many people were turning off the STB and when the pic went blank on the screen, they thought the TV was off too. Then when the STB's updated in the middle of the night, suddenly people were hearing voices in the house. This frightened several people and Verizon responded by putting a message on the screen to let people know that the tv was still on.
No, sleep timer on the STB will not happen. Its a bad idea. But the TV's do have a sleep timer. Now what Verizon should do is to add a sleep button to the remote to control the TV's sleep timer. But who knows if they will do that....
Now while some people would be able to set additional devices to turn off with the STB. Most would not. And Verizon needs and should consider the masses, not the individuals.

  • Scheduled sleep not working

On command my unit will sleep. It will not sleep on schedule however.
External monitor goes dark on schedule - but unit does not sleep. Have trashed PowerManagement.plist several times, and reset PRAM but no go. Activity monitor shows pmtool, kernal_task, and Executor as slightly active.
This has happened several times in the past but was always solved by trashing PowerManagement.plist and logging out then in.
    Now nothing seems to help.
    Any ideas? Thanks

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
First, read things in Apple doc.#25801 on sleep settings.
Here is Apple doc.#303698 with their tips.
    Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Recieve Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.
    Hope this helps!
    P.S. One member here reported this (Michael Gleason);
"I have had this problem with my IMac G5. It is surprisingly irritating. LaCie's Silverkeeper backup software was the cause. By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
Dave Hamilton provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB cards.
tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
    Cheers!

Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet upon reopening unless I perform diagnostic assistant.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. Reinstall OS X.

  • Time and Date not correct

    Hi to all.
Does anybody know how to save your cmos settings to a floppy or CD?
Is there a program that can assist with saving the cmos settings to floppy or CD?
Is there anyway to perform saving the cmos settings within the BIOS to floppy or CD?
I really don't want to go into the BIOS and write down all that info.
I have an HP Pavilion 553w that is 7 1/2 years old, running windows xp home edition version 2002 sp3, 2 gbs of ram, AMD athlon(tm)XP 2100+ 1.73 GHZ, bios version/date Phoenix Techologies, LTD AM35308, 10/07/2002 (Phoenix-AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility) SMBIOS 2.3, BIOS Core Version V6.0, BIOS Revision 3.08 10/7/2002.
I know my computer is ancient and I probably should have updated my BIOS, as it is out of date.
Also, after starting up my computer I noticed my time and date is not correct and as of lately have to adjust the time and date to the correct time and date.
I did some research and came across some possible reasons:
    1. RTC battery (CMOS battery) may need reseating on motherboard.
    2. The battery has become corrupt.
    3. BIOS version may be out of date.
My computer is really taking longer than usual to startup and images of icons take longer to display, which may be a sign of the symptoms I listed above.
My computer doesn't have any malware whatsoever, clean as can be.
Any help or advise will be truly appreciated.

    Jboman,
There is not need to save CMOS settings unless you changed the default BIOS settings.  A bad CMOS battery will not preserve the settings.
