Scheduler Log - monthly job skipped Apr Monthend

Hello - we have been using the scheduler to run
daily, weekly and monthly reports for a couple of years with no
problems. We are running MX 6.1. Apr 29th I had to stop/restart IIS
and CF. The scheduler log shows the jobs getting 'scheduled'. The
monthly report gets scheduled for May 31, skipping over Apr 30th.
The log says:
"activating2 on Tues Apr 29 09:05 2008 to run on :Sat May 31"
The Monthly scheduled task job say:
"start May 31, 2005 , recurring Monthly at 10:40pm"
any help would greatly be appreciated!! thanks

I apologize if you already solved this.. but see Metalink ID 790221.1

  • How to schedule a batch job to generate security audit log (SM20)

May be this is a repeat question for this forum. Apologize, if it is. Is there a way to schedule a batch job to generate security audit log (SM20) automatically and possibly send a message to SAP Inbox or generate a spool request? Release is 4.6C.

You don't need to apologize. You only need to do a very simple search...

    Hi,
once chk the status of the job by selecting that and check job status(cltr+shift_f12)
since it was periodically scheduled job there will be a RELEASED job after every active job..
so try to copy that into another job using copy option and give some new name which u have to remember...
the moment u copy u can find the same copied job in SCHEDULED status...
from here, try to run it again on hourly basis....
After copying the job u can unschedule the old released job to scheduled otherwise 2 will run at a time...

  • Monthly Job for Protection group looks like it didn't run, but tape Recovery point exists.

When I checked the DPM server this morning to confirm that my monthly tape backups had run successfully, I noticed that I didn't see an entry for Tape Backup of the "Mail" protection group.  I use a filter that shows all "Tape Backup"
jobs, including all status, and all protection groups,  within the past 30 days.  I grouped by status and looked under completed & failed jobs, then grouped by PG and looked under the "mail" PG - I see 6 jobs listed in the last month,
some failed and some successful, but the last one is from last weekend... there is nothing for the job which should have run on the evening of 11/1/14.
I went to the Recovery workspace and checked the recovery points available for the mailbox database that this PG covers.  When I select 11/1/14 and open the "Recovery Time" dropdown, I clearly see 2 entries at 7:00pm, one for disk, and one
for tape.   I selected the tape backup and see "all tapes online".  When I click "View tape list", it shows me the tape that contains this backup.
Then I went to the Management workspace and drilled down to view the tapes in the library.  I located the tape that is supposed to contain the backup, and confirmed that the "Mail" protection group is listed in the protection groups column.
I also selected "view tape contents", and it shows that the Mail Database is on the tape.
I'd like to assume that since the recovery point does exist, and the tape appears to contain the data from this protection group, that my backup is good.  However, the fact that the job doesn't appear in the history at all has me concerned.  I'm
considering restoring the data from tape just to confirm that it's actually there, though I'm not sure how I would go about testing the restored data to confirm it's good...
Any thoughts on what might be causing this job to not appear in the logs?  (I'm open to suggestions that it's human error, but I did double check my filter, and looked at the job list from a few different angles, so I don't think I simply overlooked
the job in question.)  Has anyone else run into this issue?

I thought I'd save my speculation on the issue for a second post, so as not to distract from the actual problem description.  I can't help but wonder if it's a coincidence that this weekend was the DST switch... the job would have been scheduled well
before the time change, but it would have been queued up with all the other monthly jobs which start at the same time.  Since we have a single drive tape library, it's very possible that this particular job could have been in queue for a few hours before
it actually got to it's turn to use the drive.
Is it possible that the job did run, but during the hour that occurs twice for the fall switch over, and DPM somehow didn't log the job, or overwrote the log, or perhaps just doesn't properly parse logs from that hour, causing it to not show the job in the
    logs?

  • How to Schedule SAP background job at OS Level

    Hi All,
Can Anyone tell me how to Schedule SAP background job at OS Level (unix).
    Regards,
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
I donu2019t know your requirements, anyway itu2019s possible to setup your SAP job in order to start after an event, and after that you can get the event triggered from the Operating System in the following way:
    - log into you Operating System with the SIDadm user id (at the Operating System level) and go to directory /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run
    - Run the SAPEVT executable as follows:
    sapevt YOUR_EVENT -t pf=/usr/sap/SID/SYS/profile/DEV_DVEBMGS00_server001 nr=01
This will raise the event, and cause the job scheduled within SAP to execute.
You can periodically execute this job with crontab.
    Thanks,

  • How to schedule the background job daily twice?

    Hi,
How to schedule the background job daily twice? any conditions?
    Regards,
    Srihitha

see the step by step procedure.
    Scheduling Background Jobs:
    1. Background jobs are scheduled by Basis administrators using transaction SM36.
    2. To run a report in a background, a job needs to be created with a step using the report name
and a variant for selection parameters. It is recommended to create a separate variant for each
scheduled job to produce results for specific dates (e.g. previous month) or organizational units (e.g.
    company codes).
    3. While defining the step, the spool parameters needs to be specified
(Step-> Print Specifications->Properties) to secure the output of the report and help authorized users
to find the spool request. The following parameters needs to be maintained:
    a. Time of printing: set to “Send to SAP spooler Only for now”
    b. Name – abbreviated name to identify the job output
    c. Title – free form description for the report output
    d. Authorization – a value defined by Security in user profiles to allow those users to access
this spool request (authorization object S_SPO_ACT, value SPOAUTH). Only users with matching
authorization value in their profiles will be able to see the output.
    e. Department – set to appropriate department/functional area name. This field can be used in
    a search later.
    f. Retention period – set to “Do not delete” if the report output needs to be retained for more
than 8 days. Once the archiving/document repository solution is in place the spool requests could
be automatically moved to the archive/repository. Storage Mode parameter on the same screen
could be used to immediately send the output to archive instead of creating a spool request.
    Configuring user access:
    1. To access a report output created by a background job, a user must have at
least access to SP01 (Spool requests) transaction without restriction on the user
name (however by itself it will not let the user to see all spool requests). To have
that access the user must have S_ADMI_FCD authorization object in the profile with
SPOR (or SP01) value of S_ADMI_FCD parameter (maintained by Security).
    2. To access a particular job’s output in the spool, the user must have
S_SPO_ACT object in the profile with SPOAUTH parameter matching the value used
in the Print Specifications of the job (see p. 3.d above).
    3. Levels of access to the spool (display, print once, reprint, download, etc) are
controlled by SPOACTION parameter of S_SPO_ACT. The user must have at least
    BASE access (display).
    On-line reports:
    1. Exactly the same configuration can be maintained for any output produced
from R/3. If a user clicks “Parameters” button on a SAP Printer selection dialog, it
allows to specify all the parameters as described in p. 3 of
“Scheduling background jobs” section. Thus any output created by an online report
can be saved and accessed by any user authorized to access that spool request
(access restriction provided by the Authorization field of the spool request
attributes, see p. 3.d of “Scheduling background jobs” section).
    Access to report’s output:
    1. A user that had proper access (see Configuring user access above) can
    retrieve a job/report output through transaction SP01.
    2. The selection screen can be configured by clicking “Further selection
criteria…” button (e.g. to bring “Spool request name (suffix 2)” field or hide other
    fields).
    3. The following fields can be used to search for a specific output (Note that
Created By must be blank when searching for scheduled job’s outputs)
    a. Spool request name (suffix 2) – corresponds to a spool name in p. 3.b in
    “Scheduling background jobs” section above).
    b. Date created – to find an output of a job that ran within a certain date range.
    c. Title – corresponds to spool Title in p. 3.c in “Scheduling background jobs”
    section above).
    d. Department - corresponds to spool Department in p. 3.e in “Scheduling
    background jobs” section above).
    4. Upon entering selection criteria, the user clicks the Execute button to
retrieve the list of matching spool requests.
    5. From the spool list the user can use several function such as view the
content of a spool request, print the spool request, view attributed of the spool
request, etc. (some functions may need special authorization, see p.3 in
    Configuring user access)
    a. Click the Print button to print the spool request with the default attributes
(usually defined with the job definition). It will print it on a printer that was
specified when a job was created.
    b. Click the “Print with changed attributed” button to print the spool request
with the different attributes (e.g. changing the printer name).
    c. Click the “Display contents” button to preview the spool request contents. A
Print and Download functions are available from the preview mode.

  • Scheduling a background Job with gaps in dates

    Hi Experts,
I am having a requirement : A background job has to be scheduled for running a program every 15 minutes and for every month. But this job should not run from date 10th to 15th of every month. For example,In july month Job should start run from 01.07.2014 to 31.07.2014 excluding 10.07.2014 to 15.07.2014.
Can we achieve this without a custom program and using SM36?
    Regards,
    Arun.

    Hello Arun,
is it possible to define a factory calendar to you in the system, if you can define one then you can define the 10-15 the of every month as holiday.
We can select the factory calendar above defined in the job. This can be found by clicking on the restrictions button in the start condition screen.
in that start date restrictions, you can find 5 options in those you can pick the do not execute the periodic job on sunday and holidays.
but this will effect the sundays which are falling in 1-10 th & 15-31st of each month, will that be OK ?
if you do not want to try out the above all steps, then you can simply create 2 job running for each month
1st one for 1-10th of every month.
2nd one for 16th to end date.
Let us know in case of any concerns on the same.
    thanks,
    Bhaskar

  • Scheduling an Export Job Using Grid Control

    Hi,
I got a requirement to schedule export jobs in Oracle Grid Control 10.2.0.5 (Windows). Is this possible and have any one done this? If so please share the steps. The idea is to get alerts if the job fails.
    Thanks.
    GB

Here is the easy steps (There might be slight differences as I am posting it based on 11g screen)
    1. On grid control console, click on the relevant database
    2. click on 'Data Movement' tab
    3. Click on 'Export to Export Files'
    4. chose the Export type (Database / Schema / Tables/ Tablespace)
    5. Provide Host credentials (OS username and Password) and click on 'Continue'. You will get a new screen called 'Export: Options'
    6. Click the checkbox called 'Generate Log File' and select the Directory object where you wants to create the dump files. (You need to create a directory object in database, if you don't have one)
    7. Chose the contents option as you required, and click '*Next*'. You will get a new page called 'Export: Files'
    8. Select the directory object from the drop-down box and provide a name format for file name, and click 'Next'
    9. Here you provide the Job name and description, and chose repeat options (daily, weekly etc), and click 'Next'
    10. You will get a summary screen called 'Export: Schedule'. review your job details and click on 'Submit'.
This is the solution, and it works well.

  • Scheduling an automatic Jobs in Data Services

    Dear Experts,
could you please explain how to schedule an automatic job in Data Services?
I would like to be able to schedule a daily, weekly or monthly job.
Any Document which explain the steps?
    Thanks
    Pat

I would not suggest doing anything on your production data. Make change in the job as given below. Add Map operation tranform just before where you are writing to the target table. Inside map operation transform select all to discard....make sure you have selected discard for every operation codes.  In order to see what data your job is tring to write to target table. Create a template table and then join that table to tranform which is just before map operation...i...suppose you have query transform at the end and then you write to target table. Then add this query transform to map operation transform as well as to template table.
You can now get what data your job is going to write to target without writing anything to target.
Test this in dev first before trying in Production.
REMEMBER: PRODUCTION IS S SACRED SPACE AND WE DON"T WRITE UNNECESARY DATA OR DO ANY MANUPULATION IN PROD TABLES.
    Thanks,

  • Schedule Time Evaluation Job

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirment to schedule Time Evaluation Job Automatically at Every day 12:00 am midnight. Could you pls help how to create variants and schedule the job.
    Thanks
    Priya

    Hi, Priyadarshini.
You can schedule a job also doing the following.
    1. Enter in transaction PT60.
    2. Define the parameters in the enter screen and save as variant.
    3. Go to menu: Program --> Execute in Background.
    4. Define the printer (so we can check the log error). Here use some printer already installed in sap and inform to send to SAP spooler, then you'll able to see the log in SP01.
    5. Click on the button "Date/Time";
    6. Inform the Date and the Time in "Schedule Start";
    7. Click on the button "Periodic job";
    8. Click on "Period values" and define Daily.
And this is it. I think it's better you access the program like this to schedule the job, once in the Productive client, usually, we don't have access to the SE38.
    I hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Luciano.

  • ME59N batch jobs skipping PRs

    Hello All,
We have created and schedule a background job in SM36 for program RM06BB30 (ME59N) with a variant of ME59N that selects the requisitions you wish to convert to orders with DAILY run options.
User can see Jobs in FINISHED status in SM37 but skipping few PRs though the PRs matching the very same Variant. User is inconvenienced by this as slowing down the procurement process for the requisitioners ...
As an work around , user then runs the same Variant + missing PRs in foreground thus converting it into POs ....
What could go wrong with SM37 jobs ?
    a) I tested & realised PRs being edited spanning the JOB run duration skipping SENSIBLY --- Perfectly fine
    b) What else could amount to this few PRs skipping with SM37 jobs showing FINISHED green.
Lights in that directions will be rewarded.
    Regards
    MM

    Hello Jurgen,
I'm still investigating this issue as constrained by the magnitude / volume of Test data to be replicated to test it in Test environment...
My client's procurement process is as follows
            a) There is a centrally agreed Contract
            b) User raises PRs manually and ME51N traces if any item referencing the Contract items & adds contract# in the PR line#.
            c) Daily batch jobs Run ME59N to convert PRs into POs (PO grouping criteria Per CCod, Per Plant, Per Contract)
Ideally Contracts would have been converted directly into Release Orders / Call-Offs as opposed to the process above ...Don't you think step b) is quite unusual...??
As an work around user then runs ME59N manually punching those PR items on emergency & it converts to PO strangely..
Please shed lights on this issue of ME59N daily batch jobs skipping some PR items despite they match the variant parameters.
Hope words are self-explanatory & comprehensive..

  • Track & log failed jobs on Report Server 9.0.4

    Hi
Oracle Reports Services 9.0.4 on Windows
i'm trying to figure out how to log failed jobs , so i can automate it and send it to developers
the problem is , how dose showjobs display the job ids with the ohs logs info
    http://localhost:7777/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?
i can collect the job IDs with the "Terminated with error" from the rwserver.trc
but how do i connect these jobs with the actual RDF, pdf entries in the apache log
    or maybe logs
for example , so i can track the failed requests with their respective parameters
    any ideas ?
    thanks

    thanks desgard
that info is totally great and all , i even found this link that may help others with Notification
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/apis/plugNotification/NOT_3.html
but i don't want to send a msg for each run & i need to alter the URL format to use this feature in the rwservlet
but that's not what i want , i want to filter the trace log (rwserver.trc) & extract the History of failed jobs for the past month or so
i can get the list of jobs , example
"Job 104870 status is: Terminated with error:"
how can i connect the job IDs with their URL Requests

  • Scheduling one background job inside another

    Hi All,
Is it possible to Scheduling one background job inside another.? i.e In my Z program I am calling job_open, job_submit, job_close and to execute one standard report in background. And after that I am executing my Z program itself  from SE38 as Program->Execute->Background->Execute Immediately. Is this logically correct? I am asking this because I am not getting the desired result
    Thanks & Regards,
