    Jonathan,
    you mean to say that .....  report1 will place the file on application server with all the data that is required for report2...
    and after scheduling report2 in background ,...... the report 2 must read the file and then delete it,,,,,
    the data is extensive,,, i want to pass on 1,00,000 records to that report ,... so passing it via a dataset,,,wont hamper performance..??
    Is there any other direct way to do it,,,,,,,??
    Thanks ,

  • Regarding running a report in background and generate spool

    Hi,
    I am developing a report [<b>REPORT1</b>].
    It is taking long to execute if data is more.
    Now i want to schedule this report in background and generate spool along with.
    So once i execute REPORT1 it should run in background & generate spool?
    Can anybody give inputs for the same!
    Thanks,
    Deep.

    Hi,
              to generate spool, use below code
    FORM create_spool .
    CONSTANTS : l_c_device(4) VALUE 'LOCL'.
    Create Spool Request
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON
    LINE-SIZE 120
    DESTINATION l_c_device
    IMMEDIATELY ' '
    KEEP IN SPOOL 'X'
    NEW LIST IDENTIFICATION 'X'
    NO DIALOG.
    ENDFORM. " create_spool
    And after createing spool to get the spool number use below code,
    FORM obtain_spool_id .
    TYPES : BEGIN OF t_tsp01,
    rqident TYPE tsp01-rqident,
    rqowner TYPE tsp01-rqowner,
    END OF t_tsp01.
    DATA : it_tsp01 TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF t_tsp01,
    wa_tsp01 LIKE LINE OF it_tsp01.
    SELECT rqident
    rqowner
    FROM tsp01
    INTO TABLE it_tsp01
    WHERE rqowner = sy-uname.
    SORT it_tsp01 BY rqident DESCENDING.
    READ TABLE it_tsp01 INTO wa_tsp01 INDEX 1.
    IF sy-subrc = 0 .
    v_spool_nr = wa_tsp01-rqident.
    ENDIF.
    Capture the immediate spool created for this report
    v_spool_nr = sy-spono.

  • Running the alv report  in  background and sending it thro email

    hi,
          i have to run the  alv report in background and send the output through email

    Hi
    Many a times there is a requirement to display ALV Grid (not ALV List) in the background Job. I have checked the SDN Forum for the same and it has been mentioned that ALV Grid cannot be displayed in Background, but the list output of ALV is possible. So user won’t have the actual Grid interface but the List interface.
    There is a workaround to display ALV Grid in Background Job. The only restriction is you can’t schedule the job through SM36. You need to execute the transaction of the report program, fill in the selection screen data and hit Execute.
    The job would be executed in background. User will be able to see the Job Log and Job Status after executing the program. User doesn’t have to go to SM37 to view the job status/log. Once the Job Status is changed to “COMPLETED”, user can click on “DISPLAY SPOOL” to view the ALV Grid.
    Limitations:
    Can’t schedulea background job
    The session should be active until the background job is completed. If the session is closed, then user won’t be able to check the output in ALV Grid. User would be able to check the output through spool or SM37
    Advantages:
    If the spool width is greater than 255 characters, then the entire width could be seen in the output because the output is directed to an ALV Grid and not to spool
    Interface of ALV Grid is available instead of ALV List even though it’s a background job.
    Program won’t give the TIME OUT error
    Steps Required:
    1. Once you execute the program, the following screen would be displayed
    2. Click “Display Job Status” to check the Status of the Background Job
    3. Click on “Display the Job Log” to check the Log
    4. Click on “Display Job Status” to check the Job Status
    5. Click on “DISPLAY SPOOL” to check the spool content once the Job Status is changed to “COMPLETED”. Output is displayed in ALV Grid
    Programs:
    1.  Two different programs needs to be created
    ZPROGRAM_ONE: This is the 1st program, where the selection screen and all the data validations would be done. Error handling for invalid data should be done in this program.
    Once the data validation is done, this program would call the 2nd program ZPROGEAM_TWO. Build the logic to display ALV Grid in this program. The logic will only display ALV in foreground and it won’t be reflected in the spool.
    ZPROGRAM_TWO: This program would fetch all the data and do all the processing. If you want the spool output along with ALV Grid output, then build the logic in this program to display ALV Grid.

  • Scheduling WebI reports in BusinessObjects 4.0 date prompts

    will SAp Business Objects 4.0 include some kind of feature to allow people to schedule webi reports in an easier way if the report conatins date prompts? For example if my report has 2 dates start date and end date prompts, it's logical if I want to schedule it to be refreshed every month I don't want to keep it scheduling with the same start date and end date for ever.  I want them to change depending on the month.
    I know there are some things that can be done at universe level, but what if a user doesn't have rights to modify the universe? It would be more useful to have some option in the schedule window to make the values change depending on some basic conditions.
    Or at least if profiles settings could help to do that by selecting in the list objects instead of fixed values from the list, it could help too.

    Hi,
    This looks like to be a request for future product enhancements.
    You need to log an Enhancement Request via Idea Place for the feature/functionality you would like to see in BI4.0.  Please follow steps in the attached SAP note [1515837 - How To: Enhancement Request Process - Idea Place |https://bosap-support.wdf.sap.corp/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/sno/ui_entry/entry.htm?param=69765F6D6F64653D3030312669765F7361706E6F7465735F6E756D6265723D3030303135313538333726]. If this idea is already submitted, you will need just to add your vote to it.

  • How to call routine and pass data to routine in vofm

    Hi Experts,
    I need to update KBETR and KWERT values present in 'Conditions Tab' in Purchase Order (ME21N/ME22N).
    I have created a new customer tab in which we enter amount field and  percentage filed. When user enters some value in this and clicks on 'Conditions Tab', calculation has to be done and the calculated value has to be appeared across a specific condition type.as i am new to abap  i dont know how to create routine and pass data to routine in vofm from customised tab in me21n .
                                                                                                                                                                          Thank's in advance

    Hello Rajendra,
    You can get plenty of forums in SCN related to it. Follow below steps to create VOFM routine.
    Go to VOFM Transaction Code
    1. On the Menu Select required Application i.e Pricing
    2. Enter any Number in between 600 to 999 for Custom Developments.
    3. On entering Pop Screen appears ask for Access Key(We have to remember that Every New Routine needs an Access Key)
    4. Once the Access Key is received we can do modification.
    5. Enter the Routine Number ,description and insert the Access Key
    6. Now the ABAP Editor will open and required code can be copied from Standard SAP Routine and Custom Code Can be developed.
    7. Once the coding is completed we have to Activate the Routine
    8. Select the Routine and Go to Edit – Activate
    9. Ensure that Active check box is ticked upon Activation of the Routine.
    10. Double click on the routine will enter into ABAP Editor, we have to generate the Routine
    11. Go to Program and select Generate
    12.A screen pops up with the related Main Programs  and select all required main programs wherever the Routine is being called.
    13. Once the Routine is Generated and Activated, We need to configure the Routine in the config.

  • How do I execute a vi in the background and pass it starup pramaters?

    I would like to create a queue and pass it's handle to a subvi that runs in the background. I see several examples of running a vi in the background using the vi server, but I could not find any examples of running in the background and passing startup arguments.

    Hi,
    you can do following: Create your subVI with the needet connectors (queue
    and startup parameters perhaps) and insert a loop, which ends when the queue
    is destroyed. Insert shift registers an initialize them with you start
    parameters. During execution update the shift registers with the new values.
    Now create the main VI and place a create queue. Wire the outgoing queue
    reference to the subVI and a new loop.
    So your subVI starts running and the loop is executing parallel. To stop the
    program just destroy the queue inside the main loop and your subVI will also
    stop.
    I hope it will plain enought for you...

  • Creation and Modification dates for android file system

    Hello all, I am working on a project and i noticed a particular scenario where i'm getting an error everytime i try to run the code below on my android device;
                    var file:File=File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("amf.js");
                    var modDate:Date;
                    var createDate:Date;
                     if(file.exists)
                            try
                                       modDate=file.modificationDate;
                                       credDate=file.creationDate;
                                       trace("Modification date: "+ modDate.toString()+"\nCreation date: "+credDate.toString());
                             catch(e:Error)
                                      trace(e.message+": Somehow android OS CANNOT READ mODIFICATRION AND CREATING DATES FOR FILES");
    Every time i run this on Adobe AIR's Mobile emulator, the correct dates are show up properly(Possibly because the emulator is running on Windows) but when i switch the debug to the device, the statement in the catch block executes. The real error says "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
    Am i missing something or is this a normal behaviour which i have to find a work around for? The modificationDate and the creationDate are all properties of the FileReference class which i didnt use to instanciate the file object because i wasnt uploading or downloading anything.
    Any form of tip will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I run into the same problem while working on some sort of file synching task.
    Trying to read the file.modificationDate or creationDate results in an error: "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
    I have obeserved that this only happens for files that were packaged with the app (and placed in the File.applicationDirectory).
    Files that my app has downloaded and saved to the device (File.applicationStorageDirectory) do have a valid creation date and modification date.
    Maybe the File.applicationDirectory has different rights?
    Does anybody have a solution or workaround for this?

    Hi,
    Sorry, we do not support a matrix-question field.   Please try the multilines text field (where your participant can enter multiple lines in the input text box) and see if it works for you.
