Scheduling BPEL Process in 11g using native SOA Suite functionatliy

I have spent a significant amount of time reviewing documentation and the forums and have been unable to find a definitive answer on the ability to schedule a BPEL process in SOA Suite 11g.
A similar question was asked here with no response:
BPEL(SOA11G) and Quartz
In SOA Suite 10.1.3.x it is discussed frequently:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/soa/soa-suite-best-practices/soa_best_practices_1013x_drop1.pdf
Re: BPEL Adapters & Scheduling
It appeared to be an actual feature in one of the technology previews:
http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/01/scheduling-processes-in-soa-suite-11g.html
Can anyone provide an definitive answer on whether a BPEL process can be scheduled using functionality native to SOA Suite 11g. I understand there are external workarounds such as calling BPEL process from DBMS_JOB, using external scheduling framework etc. I am interested in solutions which are native to the SOA Suite itself if there is such a solution.
If there is no definitive answer I will open a support case and post the results here for the benefit of the group.

Hi-
You can refer to the below link.
http://darwin-it.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-create-bpel-job-scheduler.html
I have not personally tried but I think it should work.
PLease let us know how it goes.

  • INVOKING BPEL PROCESS PORTAL 10.1.4 + SOA SUITE 10.1.3.1

    Hi,
Did anyone try to invoke BPEL Process / ESB service from portal 10.1.4 while using Soa Suite 10.1.3.1 with omniportlet? I tried that but when i point to WSDL it says that there are no methods in WSDL or that there is no endpoint. I dont believe any of these are true, cause i wrapped BPEL process in another BPEL Process and invocation was seamless.
    thanks,
    Chris.

Its not certified, you need to install on 9.2.
I believe this will be delivered in 10.1.3.5 which should be out before 1 June.

  • Integration with PeopleSoft Applications Using Oracle SOA Suite 11g BPEL

    Hi,
I'm integrating BPEL with Peoplesoft FSCM 9.0 Application on tools 8.49 using Oracle SOA Suite 11g. The BPEL invokes the web service method generated from Peoplesoft Component Interface in a synchronuos manner.
I have deployed the BPEL in Oracle SOA Suite 11g using Jdeveloper successfully but I have problem in configuring the BPEL node in Peoplesoft side using Oracle SOA Suite 11g(FMW) . I had done the integration of BPEL with Peoplesoft FSCM 9.0 on tools 8.49 using Oracle SOA Suite 10g earlier successfully by configuring BPEL node properties as follows:
BPEL CONSOLE : http://Host Name:8888/BPELConsole (System with Oracle SOA Suite 10g server for deployment)
    BPEL DOMAIN : default
Using this BPEL node configuration, I was able to ping the BPEL console of Oracle SOA Suite 10g from peoplesoft and hence complete the integration successfully.
Now in order to acomplish Business rules and other functionality, the BPEL application has been developed in Oracle SOA Suite 11g using Jdeveloper 11g. This time I'm not able to configure the BPEL node in Peoplesoft for this integration as I'm assuming there is no separate BPEL console in Oracle SOA Suite 11g. All the BPEL deployments are administered in console (11g console used for deployment of BEPL)
http://Host Name:7001/em (System with Oracle SOA Suite 11g server - Fusion Middleware).
So when I Configured the BPEL node property in Peoplesoft as :
BPEL CONSOLE : http://Host Name:7001/em (System with Oracle SOA Suite 11g server for deployment)
    BPEL DOMAIN : default
I'm not able to ping the Peoplesoft BPEL node to the Oracle SOA Suite 11g. Hence I'm not able to proceed with my integration.
When I searched the OTN discussion forum on BPEL console for Oracle SOA Suite 11g, all threads point that there is no separate BPEL console unlike Oracle SOA Suite 10g. Also most of the articles for Integration with Peoplesoft Application using SOA 11g do not state any specific configuration setting for property of Peoplesoft BPEL node in order to integrate with BPEL 11g. The examples published in OTN still point towards screen shots of integration using SOA Suite 10g.
So I'm not able to proceed in this regard.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Girish

    Hi,
I found this document from the Oracle Open World 2009 (maybe you have found it too) :

  • "Oracle BPM  Suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components

    Dear Friends,
I am very confusing about the "Oracle BPM suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" and would like your help on explanation as the following :
I have learn that In order to use "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" require to have "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components to install first. Does it means that :
    1) When we buy "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , we automatically get the "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components as well ?
    2) IS it correct that these " these Oracle SOA Suite 11g components" are included :
    (a) Oracle BAM
    (b) Oracle Business Rules
    (c) Oracle BPEL Manager
    (d) Oracle Service Bus
    (e) Oracle Complex Event Processing
    3) Do we have a right to use all of these components listed in (2) ?
    4) Then the answers in (3) is "YES", then Is it correct when the customer buy the "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , they no need to buy "Oracle SOA 11g" any more when they would like to implements that applications based on SOA in the future (without using BPM) ?
    5) What IF , the customer would like to start with "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" product and decide to buy only Oracle SOA Suite 11g first ; then later on in the future they would like to implement BPM projects in the future. Can you upgrade "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" to include "Oracle BPM Sutie 11g" and pay only the price different ?
I hope you can help providing the answers to these questions. THank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards
    Pearapon S.

This is a question best answered by your Oracle reseller or Oracle account manager to give you all the details but I hope this brief answer helps:
    - The Unified Business Process Management Suite (BPM Suite 11g) includes: BPM Studio, BPM Composer, BPMN Service Engine and Workflow Extensions, BPM Process Spaces, and BPM Process Analytics.
    - BPM Suite 11g requires the licensing of SOA Suite 11g for Oracle Middleware which requires a license for WebLogic Suite.
    - You can license SOA Suite 11g now and license BPM Suite 11g later.
Since the products are layered, I don't see this cutting into SOA sales at all. My personal view is that BPM on top of SOA is brilliant since it provides easy integration between human and automated tasks, builds on many of the SOA concepts that are key for a successful BPM implementation (functional, not the Oracle product), and uses the same IDE. The synergies extend past easy use of services; the same business rules and human workflow components are used between both products.

  • Oerror while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g db adaptor

    Hi,
I am getting following error while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g database adaptor. Can you please help me on this.
    "{http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}bindingFault" has been thrown.
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'insert' failed due to: DBWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception. insert failed. Descriptor name: [LoggerDBInsert.LoggedError]. Caused by java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-01722: invalid number . ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution. ORA-01722: invalid number 1722
    Regards,

It looks like you try to insert a string-value in a number-column.
can you check all your assign and their values before you invoke the db-adapter, then you should be able to narrow down the problem.

  • Which OC4J instance to use for Soa Suite: oc4j_soa or home ?

When I setup Soa Suite I am asked which OC4J instance I want to use:
    home
    or
    oc4j_soa
By default "home" is filled in the entry field. However in sample tutorials I saw always "oc4j_soa" and never "home"
What is the difference and which one is recommended ?
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
If you have installed Basic SOA Suite, you get the home oc4j container alone.
However, when you go for Advanced SOA Installation, you get oc4j_soa container, which is used clsutering one node with another, generally we have bpel, esb-rt on oc4j_soa and then we create oc4j_esbdt for esbdt. The docs refer to oc4j_soa, as we always talk about the Enterprise Deployments which uses Advanced SOA Suite with Oracle Database Dehydration Store, and not SOA Basic Install which uses Olite as dehydration store.
So, please create an oc4j container whenever needed for those specific j2ee applications, for easy identification and management.
    Hope that clarifies...

  • Can a dotnet application talk with unix os using Oracle SOA Suit?

how can a dotnet application talk with unix operating system using Oracle SOA Suite? I have to automate a process on unix server like create user through dotnet application.. is it possible?
My dotnet application is used for creating users, granting access on the servers. Some servers are 21C servers and some are legacy servers. In this dotnet application a user make certain request for the rights on those servers e.g. create user, give access rights, change password. This application is treated as user interface and maintaining tool of all this information and later on the basis of that request it generates the job-sheet. This job sheet is forwarded to responsible engineer who further provisions the request manually by going to that specific server in the request. So I want to automate this process that when user put any access or create user request then the moment he puts the request, that request should be provisioned without any human intervention i.e. automatically users must be created or password must be changed. I believe you will get an enough idea about my problem from all above information. So please help me.

  • Invoking bpel process from java in oracle soa/bpm 11g

    Hi,
We have some java code to invoke bpel process in oracle BPM 10g following the instructions in http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/integrate.1012/b14448/invoke.htm.
    Basically the steps are:
    1) get a Locator (com.oracle.bpel.client.Locator)
    2) get IDeliveryService (com.oracle.bpel.client.delivery.IDeliveryService) reference from locator
    3) call IDeliveryService method request or post with input message and get the response back.
Recently we want to migrated from oracle bpm 10g to oracle soa/bpm 11g. But I can not find the similar API in 11g. It seems now some adapter/binding need to be added in exposed service lane in soa composite view, for example, ADF-BC, direct binding etc, in order to allow java to invoke a bpel process. Here are two very useful links from Edwin about the detail how this is implemented.
    http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/11/invoking-soa-suite-11g-service-from.html
    http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/11/calling-soa-suite-direct-binding.html?showComment=1285198033913#comment-c1055322845511794252
    My question is:
    1) what are the choices and the official/best way to invoke a bpel process in oracle soa/bpm 11g from java?
    2) does user need to add an adapter/binding in exposed service lane in order to let the bpel service be called in java?
    3) what is the real difference between a bpm application and soa application in 11g?
I will really appreciate any expert's opinion.
    Thanks,
    Bin

Thanks for your reply and confirmation, really appreciate it.
Yes, I found the difference of the invoking process API and was able to invoke bpel process using direct and ADF-BC binding by following Edwin's blog. But I have not found any official reference to compare this API difference between 10g and 11g ( I will mark this question as answered if anyone can find an official source from oracle, need to prove it to the team). The API to work with human task workflow seems pretty much the same between 10g and 11g.

  • BPEL Process showing as service in SOA 11g version

    Hi All,
Morning...need some help with this as we are currently stuck with this.
In the SOA Suite 10g version (10.1.3.3) when we deployed a parent bpel process making a call to another bpel process ( child process ) via the partner link (by mentioning the complete WSDL location/url for the deployed child process in the partner link). When we see the flow/audit trail for such a bpel process in the BPEL Console it shows the separate flow diagrams of the bpel instances for the parent as well child process..
Now when we have migrated such a bpel process to SOA Suite 11g (J developer : 11.1.1.4) by opening up the project file ( .jpr ) for both the processes in Jdev 11g version and going through the migration steps in the wizard. It finally says migration to version 11.1.1.4 is successful
Now we deploy the child process successfully to the server --> Then compile/build the parent process --> deploy this parent as well.
1.Now when we see the composite.xml for the parent process in Design view it shows the child bpel process partner link in the External References section.
2.In the front end we invoke the parent process , it completes successfully ..we could see the flow diagram for this parent process..
But for the child bpel process we don't see a new separate instance created in the front end in the EM console
Could someone please let us know how this could be achieved so that we could see a separate bpel instance for the child bpel process as well..what settings/properties could be changed..
We need to see separate instances for the parent as well child bpel process within the BPEL Console.
    With regards

    Hi Todd,
first of all thanks for your response..i am putting below what exactly is happening.
    1. We trigger the parent process..
Go to SOA Composite for parent process --> Dashboard --> Recent Instances ---
there it shows the composite instance id lets say 123 for parent process..
We click the hyperlink for this instance id --> it opens up the Flow Trace screen -- on the right side it mentions the ECID value. this is correct ...
Now below it shows the Trace section. here in tabular format it shows below columns :
    Usage Instance Type Composite Instance
Service parent process name (hyperlinked) BPEL Component composite instance # 123
Reference child process name web service(local invocation) composite instance # 456
Now if we need to see the flow trace for the parent process we click the hyperlink just mentioned above and it opens up the flow trace page showing the bpel process instance details for parent process.
On the top right side it shows the BPEL id for this parent process. this is fine...
Now if we need to see the same flow details for the child bpel process..how do we see this in the frontend.
In the older version of SOA 10g Bpel Console 10.1.3.3 we used to see these 2 bpel processes separately in the BPEL Console under the BPEL processes tab & there we could see the instances for the child process with complete flow trace/audit details
This is the problem we are facing now..hope it is clear now.
    Thanks

    Thanks & Regards,

Undeploy that particular composite and redeploy. Check the source code of the composite to see if the process is configured with actual host and port numbers or not ?
Sometime when you use localhost will not create any issue while deploying but when you referening you will face this kind of issue.
    So always use hostname.

  • Issue in invoking the BPEL process from Oracle using a SOAP Request

    Hi,
We are facing an issue while invoking a deployed Bpel Process from Oracle Applications 11.5.10..
Using a concurrent program( Unix / Host program ) we are passing the input variables required for the Bpel process in the ProcessRequest tags and forming this as a SOAP message payload.
Then trying to invoke the deployed bpel process using the end point location using HTTP POST..but nothing is happening..
The bpel process is not getting invoked when i look at the Console and also checked for the Manual Recovery queue..it's not stuck there as well..

  • Migrating 10g Human Task Bpel process to 11g - No task flow

    Hi All,
I have migrated a bpel process that has a human task to 11g. I need to stipulate the uri so that it will show on the worklist.
Apparently there is a file in the WEB-INF folder that i must reference. I went into the folder and there is many xml files(adfc-config.xml,faces-config.xml,trindad-config.xml, web.xml, weblogic.xml) there is no file generated from the migration. Hence how do i go about to get the correct uri and for the worklist to show.
    Below is an incomplete uri
    /workflow/ExceptionHandlerTaskForm//faces/adf.task-flow?_id=ExceptionHandler_WF_1_TaskFlow&_document=WEB-INF/

    failed to get solution

  • Secure a BPEL process in 11g with username/pass

    Hi All,
How to secure a BPEL process with username and password.

As mentioned in my previous post and link I provide this is done in the Enterprise Manager.
In 11g we have composites so more often than not you want the composite to be secure then you pass the credentials to the other components, e.g. BPEL.
    1. Go to Enterprise Manager
    2. Click on the composite that has the BPEL process
    3. Click the policy Tab
    4. Select the BPEL process in the Attach To/Detach From" drop down. If BPEL is not the component that invokes the composite then select that component.
    5. Select wss_username_token_service_policy, click attach
    6. If in step 4 you have a mediation step in front of your BPEL process then select your BPEL process in the drop down and attach the policy wss11_saml_token_with_message_protection_client_policy.
The user name password is taken from the WLS authentication, so this will be something like weblogic/welcome1
    hope this helps.

  • Do I use Oracle SOA Suite or OSB or both ?

    Hi,
I've done some research on the web but still it seems slightly ambiguous to me. If a company has requirements for moderate levels of business services (<100) what is the best Oracle service bus choice?. It feels like OSB and SOA Suite overlap a lot, so it makes the choice confusing if the goal is to keep it simple and allow quicker time to market. So I have some questions
Q1. Under what scenarios would you use/need:
    a. OSB only
    b. SOA Suite only
    c. Both of the above
Q2. What is Oracle's product strategy concerning these. Is OSB the product they are pushing going forward etc ?
Q3. What is the better choice if I want to have strong but simple security ? Does this make a difference to the choice ?
FYI, Oracle BPM will be used in addition to the above, so integration to that will be required.
    TIA

Q1. Under what scenarios would you use/need:https://blogs.oracle.com/fmwsoa/entry/oracle_soa_suite_bpel_and
    OSB use cases
Q2. What is Oracle's product strategy concerning these. Is OSB the product they are pushing going forward etc ?SOA and OSB complete each other and hence both will be available in the future. OSB acts as a primary enterprise service bus whereas SOA holds complete business process middleware.
Q3. What is the better choice if I want to have strong but simple security ? Does this make a difference to the choice ?Both can provide almost same level of security.
