Scheduling & Capacity Determination

Dear Sir,
What is Scheduling & Capacity determination?
Is it relates to each other? n how?
Points will be rewarded.....
sonal

Hi,
Capacity is relate to scheduling. But scheduling is not relate to capacity. That you can check from Production scheduling parameters or Planned order parameters.
Assume You have 5 work centers. To produce 100 qty it will take 100 hours if you use only one work center.
So to produce this 100 qty, capacity required is 100 hours even though if you use 5 workcenters. Each work center work for 20 hours, so totally 100 hours required.
But in scheduling required only 20 hours. Because if 5 work centers parelley run for 20 hours, 100 qty output will come.
So capacity is 100 hours, scheduling time only 20 hours.
This is the difference between Scheduling and Capacity.

Dharma

  • Delivery Scheduling Dates determination

    Hello Team,
We have an issue with the way schedule line date being calculated. This is related to the Goods issue date and material availability date being set one day before to the actual delivery creation date. In our case, actually the process orders are manufactured and the deliveries are created on the same day as goods issue and we require SAP to reflect this to allow accurate production planning.
    As per our understanding -
    1. SAP determine material availability date, Goods issue date and Transportation planning date based on customer requested delivery date by using backward scheduling.
    2.  SAP considers that transportation planning can only begin after material is available.
Is there any way to control this so these can take place in parallel as an independent activities? So that, _system will determine / propose same Goods issue date and Delivery creation date?
Note - we are useing Rutes as well for which the Transit time is set as 1 day.
Requesting you to kindly help us as early as possible.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Amol Wadekar.

    Hello  Friends,
Let me reframe the issue to clarify the confusion -
The Issue is with the way schedule line date (i.e.Delivery Creation Date) being calculated. This is related to the Goods issue date and Material availability date being set one day before to the actual delivery creation date, this pushes to manufacture material a day earlier and this results into an incorrect production planning. In reality most of the products are manufactured and the deliveries are created on the same day and we  want SAP to reflect this so that accurate production planning can be done.
    Example -
    1. [OR] Std.Order - with Backward scheduling.
Customer Requested Delivery date - 09/13/2011
Schedule line date i.e. Delivery Date -09/13/2011
       Material Availability date -09/09/2011
       Good Issue date - 09/12/2011
Rute Transit time u2013 1 day.
    2. [OR]  Std.Order - with Forward scheduling.
Customer Requested Delivery date - 09/06/2011
Schedule line date i.e. Delivery Date -09/07/2011
       Material Availability date -09/06/2011
       Good Issue date - 09/06/2011
Rute Transit time u2013 1 day.
Question - Is there any way by which we can exclude the transit time while calculating and determine the schedule line date i.e. delivery date considering the customer requested delivery date?  So that, the Goods Issue date and the schedule line date i.e. delivery date will be same with out disturbing transit time from the rutes.
Requesting you to kindly help us as early as possible.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Amol Wadekar.

  • MRP- Forward Scheduling

    Hi Team,
I have requirement that during MRP run (MD02), planned order to be created for my FERT item with "Forward schedjuling". I understand that MRP always performed with "Backward Scheduling" by default. But i have below clarifications.
Q1: If i set the scheduling type as 'Forward Scheduling" in OPU5 for my plant & order type (LA), still MRP run in MD02 performs "Backward scheduling"?
Q2: How the basic start date & basic end date for my planned orders are calculated during MRP using "Forward Scheduling" with the below assumptions.
    Assumptions:
    1. In OPU5, for my plant & order type "LA" "Forwad scheduling" is set
    2. I do not have routing for my FERT item & i have default operation set in OPJG for my order type & plant
    3. In house production time is maintained as 2 days in my FERT material master
    4. I have BOM for my FERT item which has only one ROH item.
    5. For the ROH item, in my material master, i have set the planned delivery time as 3 days.
    6. For the ROH item, the current stock in the plant is ZERO.
    7. GR Processing time for both the FERT & ROH item is ZERO.
    8. All the days are working day in my plant except saturday & Sunday
    9. In MD04, i do not have any entries for my FERT item except the below PIR quantity of 5
    10. In MD04, i do not have any entries for my ROH item
    11. I did not maintain any schedule margin key for my FERT & ROH item in my material master.
With the above assumptions, i have created the PIR for my FERT item on 01.08.2014 for the quantity 5.
Q3: With this condition, if run MRP for my FERT item, what will be the "basic start date" & "basic end date" for my FERT planned order & what will be the "basic start date" & "basic end date" for my ROH planned order?
Your valuable guidance will be very much needed. Currently i do not have test system to test this case. hence need your valuable comments
    Thanks

    Hi Caetano,
I have read the document provided by you. Still i can not clear on some points.
    The document says that:
For a planned order created by MRP, you observe the following symptoms:
MRP considers the requirement date as basic finish date and calculates the basis start date using backward scheduling
The planned order basic finish date is equal to the requirement date and it is not adjusted according to the production finish date.
As per the above statement after running MRP in MD02 with "Scheduling" type as "Lead Time Scheduling & Capacity Planning", the basic dates are determined with "BACKWARD SCHEDULING" (even though  in OPU5 i have mentioned the scheduling type as "FORWARD") as below screen shot & also the "Basic dates" are NOT adjusted even though in OPU5, i have mentioned as "Adjust basic dates & adjust dep.req date to operation date" which is right as per the system design which can not be changed.
Note: I have kept the in house production time as 5 days for my FERT item in material master.
My question is "How the Production dates" are derived during MRP run (refer in the above screen shot). In the routing, i have maintained the labour time as "42.5 hours" for 1 base quantity.
Note: I have maintained the in house production time as 5 days in material master & in routing the labour hours as 42.5 hours (equal to 5days considering 8.5 hours as working hours per day). So the data maintained in material master & in routing are synchronized (CA97)
    Thanks

    Dear All,
    For material-A
    I run mrp using MD02.
For material A i set master data as below:
    MRP TYPE:PD
    LOT SIZE: EX
    PROCUREMENT TYPE : E
    IN HOUSE PRODUCTION TIME:2 Days.
    GR PROCESSING TIME: 16 Days.
    Strategy group:10
    Consumption mode:1
    Fwd consumption per. :45 Days.
    Insert requirement 08.03.2009 -10,000 quan.
After MRP run i got result
In Planned order  Hdr tab with following dates :
                         BasicDates      Production dates       Other dates
    Ord.finish       15.03.2009      17.03.2009 10:12:46    Available for plng   31.03.2009

And in planned order Det Scheduling Tab contains:
    Parameters :
    Scheduling type:1 Forwards

    Scheduling margin :Z05
So,can any one explain In planned order last tab  Det Scheduling.
Scheduling type:1 Forwards How it comes?
Bcz i already define in my master Consumption mode:1 Backward consumption only
    So,its how trigger with Forwards.
Is it any relation with master or its come with any customizing setting?
and also plz explain in master we define consumption mode when it trigger?
    Plz help.

    Hi,
I suspect the Start in past check box is not ticked for your plant.
    So go to
spro - pp - mrp - planning - scheduling & capacity parameters - parameters for determining the basic dates
Here tick the check box for start in past.
You can do the same via OPPQ as well. After making the settings, re-run MRP with plng mode as 3.
Check & revert if it resolves the issue.

  • Project  Scheduling

    Dear all,
In Project System Scheduling what are the settings to be done?
    1. In Configuration
    2. In Settings->Planning Board assistant
    3. In settigns -> Options -> Sceduling
    Please guide.
    SSanjay

    Sanjay,
-->When u talk about scheduling of a project, the following functions are available and u need to make settings for whatever required by u:
    Set of Dates,Check Dates,Inherit,Extrapolate,Shift,Planning Different Calenders,Scheduling,Planning Forms.!!
-->In projects with networks, you can use network scheduling to derive the dates of activities and WBS elements automatically. Each time a network is scheduled, the system carries out forward and backward scheduling and determines floats (if activated) and capacity requirements.
    -->Scheduling Scenarios: 1.Botom-Up 2. Top-Down
So, now based on your requirements, u need to do the following settings in SPRO:
    (A) Project System --> Dates --> Scheduling :
    a)Define Scheduling Types
    b)Define Time Units
    c)Define Reduction Strategies
    d)Specify Parameters for Network Scheduling
    (B) Project System --> Dates --> Date Planning in WBS
    a)Define Parameters for WBS Scheduling

  • Schedule Lines

    Hi All,
I have my main servers in the USA and my German Client is creating the orders, howcome the system is proposing tommorrow's date in the Schedule Lines.
BTW how are Schedule lines determined? I know that it is thru MRP Type + Item category.
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi,
My question from where the sales is happening to customer i mean the plant supplying the goods to customer.
What ever may be the case.
    It works as below
Sale order with schedule line is 18.02.2008, this means the order quantity can be delivered to cusotmer on this date.
This date is determined based on Material availability date.
System provides the confirmed date by calculating backword scheduling from the date customer wants the good at place i.e devlivery date. ( it calculates all the dates like material availability date, transportation planning date, loading, picking, packing and transit time to reach customer). then give confirmed delivery or schedule line.
For example schedule is on i.e 18/02/2008.
You create delivery after this due date. This means all the activities are carried out for this delivery for this reason you can create delivery with PGI.
( The system is operated by user (business) to just replicate the actual process happening in the business)
    Kindly reward points if useful.

  • Schedule Line Query

    Hi All,
I have come across a unique situation at this moment of time.
The issue is with Schedule Line Determination -> In one of the many faulty sales orders { due to which period closing has stopped - mismatch of data} the schedule line category is getting determined eventhough the assignment {Item Category + MRP type} is missing in schedule line determination in SPRO !!!! The only problem is not the schedule line category.. but there are @ 7 line items in sales order {free issues} and there is one Z-table which would determine the movement type in these free issue depending upon Sales area + WBS + Order Reason.. out of these 7 line items only for one item movement type 973 {free issues} is getting determined which is right... but for others 601 is getting determined... which is weired !!!
Any one has some idea about this strange thing ???
    Await your valuable comments
    Hrishi

    Hi,
The old orders can't be deleted as they are lot in numbers and already posted to FI.
Now, I have simulated the case with same line items and one interesting thing which I've observed is as below:
    - Created SO with order reason which is NOT there in the Z-table { didn't press enter yet}
    - Entered only one line item with quantity
    - Pressed enter
    - Went to see the schedule line {sch. line category CP got determined} -> procurement to see the movemet type
    - The movement type is 601 which is getting picked up from CP
    - Then changed the order reason to the one which is THERE in the Z-table
    - Entered second line item with quantity
    - Then pressed on ENTER
    - I got below error message
    > Item 000010: Movement type conflict with order reason.
    >Message no. ZV01003
    >Diagnosis
    >During entry of 'free issues', if there is an entry in table ZVFREEISSUES for the sales area and order >reason, the schedule line movement type is redetermined by a user-exit.
    >If the order reason is changed after items have been entered, the user-exit cannot overwrite with the >correct movement type from ZVFREEISSUES.  In this case a warning message is output.
    >Procedure
    >Ensure that the order reason is entered BEFORE creating any items. Delete and recreate any items >that were entered before the order reason was last changed.
    - Now when I cancelled the error message, surprisingly I was able to create the order !!!
    - When I went to see the order I could see that two line items are having different movement types !!!
    - So, I believe this is where the probelm lies now which needs to be checked with an ABAP guy which I am doing now.
Now, I am closing this thread and I'd like to thank all of the members who were involved in this issue for lot many days...
I will post the route cause in this thread itself once it gets figured out which may be useful for everyone if in future someone else faces this kind of problem...
Thanks again for all of us...
Have a great day ahead to you all.

  • Manually Enter the Sales Order Schedule Line

    Dear All,
I have a requirement where Sales Order will be created by Customer Service with Quantity and customer requested delivery date.  Subsequently Planning department will go to the sales order schedule lines and enter manually the delivery date and confirmed quantity (multiple schedule lines) based on the stock/availability.  They also need to do some changes in the shedule line if required.  But when I try, the manually entered schedule lines are disappeared.  Could any one advice how to set this up?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat
A schedule line gets grade out because this has been determined . through schedule line determination. . Now in the shipping data tab you can change the schedule line tab if you want .  manually you can change the request delivery date also.
But it is not advisable to change the schedule line because again the affect of availability check will vary.
But can we know for what purpose you want to change the schedule line when you create the sales order. Any reason .For what purpose you are going for that customization ?For what purpose?

How to convert the timezone to IST.
Please help me how to schedule the job to run evry Sunday at 12 P.M IST.
    Thanks.

    Did you read DBMS_SCHEDULER docs:
The calendaring syntax does not allow you to specify a time zone. Instead the Scheduler retrieves the time zone from the start_date argument. If jobs must follow daylight savings adjustments you must make sure that you specify a region name for the time zone of the start_date. For example specifying the start_date time zone as 'US/Eastern' in New York will make sure that daylight saving adjustments are automatically applied. If instead the time zone of the start_date is set to an absolute offset, such as '-5:00', daylight savings adjustments are not followed and your job execution will be off by an hour half of the year.
When start_date is NULL, the Scheduler will determine the time zone for the repeat interval as follows:
It will check whether the session time zone is a region name. The session time zone can be set by either:
Issuing an ALTER SESSION statement, for example:
    SQL> ALTER SESSION SET time_zone = 'Asia/Shanghai';
      Setting the ORA_SDTZ environment variable.
If the session time zone is an absolute offset instead of a region name, the Scheduler will use the value of the DEFAULT_TIMEZONE Scheduler attribute. For more information, see the SET_SCHEDULER_ATTRIBUTE Procedure.
If the DEFAULT_TIMEZONE attribute is NULL, the Scheduler will use the time zone of systimestamp when the job or window is enabled.

  • Scheduling in MRP Run MD02

    dear all,
i still confuse for using scheduling in MRP run MD02,
what is the use of using both scheduling type "1" and type "2"?
because if i run the MRP using scheduling type 2,  after i generate the planned order, then i can see the capacity planning evaluation,
but not if i run scheduling type 1
if i run the scheduling type 1, how can i analyze the capacity planning?
until now, i always run the scheduling type 2, because i think it is more useful to run scheduling type 2,
so what is the plus and the minus using scheduling type 1 or type 2?
    best regards,
    MARUFAT

    Hi,
    In simple words:
The main difference between scheduling type 1 (Basic date scheduling) & Scheduling type 2 (Lead time scheduling & Capacity requirements) is from which records MRP reads the values.
Basic dates is more like a rough scheduling where the values are read from the material master & the exact operation times are not considered or capacity requirements generated.
Lead time scheduling is more precise meaning for each in-house produced material it reads the routing & checks the time maintained for each operation, it then calculates the exact times for each operation based on the working days, shift timings, breaks & also generates capacity requirements.
Now what is the criteria to select... it depends on the business requirement. But the data maintenance for Scheduling type 2 is higher as compared to Scheduling type 1.
What is the benefit for going for Scheduling type 2.... well it gives you a clear picture on your production planning process & how much capacity is required, whether you have the requisite capacity etc etc.
Basic date scheduling is preferred when you do not want such fine control on your production planning process.
For more info refer to SAP help, it should make it more clear.

    Vivek

  • Scheduling Time in process order

    Dear All
While creating process order system is not picking scheduling time as per maintained in recipe because of this capacity is not being load on WC & showing zero reqmnt. Whreas date are properly calculating as per inhouse time maintained. In OPUZ i had ticked both scheduling & capacity reqmnt.
In resource i had maintained all parameter in capacity & capacity is showing as 24 Hr. Scheduling & Capacity fromula had aslo maintain. Wht could be other reason for nt calculating time as per recipe.
    Thanks & regards

    Rashid,
So is the dates getting populated correctly after scheduing function? If so then probably you current system design it to perform scheduling manually. You can use the "Production Scheduling profile" to perform this automatically. You need to assign a production scheduling profile defined for automatic Scheduling at the creation stage to you materil master "Work Scheduling" view

    Hi SD Guru's,
I need to change the schedule line date in the sales order with reference to the value contract by using some algorithm that i will write. The problem that i can't find the suitable place to add the algorithm. I can't add it to the Copy control because there is no schedule lines in value contract and copy control for schedule lines does no exist.
I can not add to user exit MV45AFZZ  , because order that was created with reference to the value contract, does not go through this user exit.
Do you have some ideas where i can add it?

    Hello Viky
How about using program MV45AFZB- USEREXIT_CHECK_VBEP or USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBEPKOM
    or program FV45EFZ1- USEREXIT_CHANGE_SALES_ORDER
Does the program go through these exits when an order is created with ref to a value contract??
Also I am wondering why you need to change a Schedule line determined by Availability check and/or delivery scheduling?

  • Schedule line confirmation date for 3rd party sales( non stock item)

    Hi ,
While creating an sales order i have a stock  item and 4 non stock items . All the non stok items are similar to 3rd party sales as they are services . While created the sales order for the no stock item the confirmed schedule date is given as 12 days in the future or in one case after month .
Can  someone please help me in understanding how the dates are being calculated . I havent created any PO for the non stock items.
I would like the confirmed date to be picked as the system date.

    Hi,
There can be multiple reasons for this.
You have not mentioned the material type. Anyhow, first check Material Master
Purchasing view> GR Processing Time field
Sales / general Plant > Set up time and processing time field
    If MRP views are maintained
    In MRP2 View > Scheduling.
In case you do not want availability check to be carried out
Untick Availbility check and TOR check boxes in VOV6 for the schedule lines determined for these materials.
    Hope this helps.
