Scheduling in SAP PS vs. Primavera vs. MSP

Hi all
can anyone tell me what is benefits and drawback only for scheduling in compare with SAP PS with respect to Primavera and MSP. as I know that primavera is best for scheduling among three but what cause it makes better then other two. can anyone gives some comparison between this three wrt scheduling only.

My Customer knows the benefits of SAP against primavera with integration of all module but when we talk about scheduling in SAP PS against primavera or MSP its have some drawbacks. Even customer like L&T and some other clients use primavera for scheduling even they use SAP. So I just wants to know why primavera or MSP overcome to SAP in scheduling part? which things are not permitted in SAP which primavera can do easily. I never work on Primavera if you already work on primavera can you share your view on this?

  • Messages getting scheduled in SAP ECC Box:Messages getting stuck in Inbound

    The scenario is -
    JDBC Sender-->> SAP PI-->> ECC Server(via ABAP proxy)
    The Interface is running properly in SAP PI & then the messages are getting posted to the Inbound queues in SAP ECC Box. Generally it takes few seconds for the messages to get processed, but now all are getting scheduled in the Inbound queues(in different channels as seen in SMQ2)
    We re-ran the interfaces again a few times, but all of them kept getting scheduled. Finally, after 2 hours one of the messages got processed. I suppose we won't face any problem now onwards.
    Though I can see several suggestions like registering the queues & assigning dedicated queues to the interface, none of the blog suggest the probable cause of the event?
    Can this be due to some issue in the server(heavy pressure of data in the server during the period/issue in the queues??)

    Is the printing issue with one specific printer or across system.
    What method you have configured for output device.
    There should be any issue if you add spool work process to Application server.
    Then you should be able to configure spool server load balancing. (Search on help.sap.com for spool load balancing)

  • Question on Job Scheduling in SAP

    Hi Experts,
    I want to schedule a job to run every half hour from 7 am to 5 pm on Mondays to Fridays.  That is, the job should not run on Saturday or Sunday, or after 5 pm on the weekends.  Any information on how I can do this will be greatly appreciated!

    Solution 1:
    Does your company use an external job scheduling software such as Control-M, AutoSys, or Maestro? If so, have them schedule the job for you. They have much more flexibility than what SAP's job scheduling allows.
    Solution 2:
    This is a laborious process, but can be implemented without doing any additional development. You have to create 22 separate jobs. Each job will run at a specific time on every working day according to your factory calendar. First one will run only at 7 AM, second one at 7:30 AM, and so on.
    Solution 3:
    Develop a wrapper ABAP program as suggested by others.

    I am facing one problem with SAP B1 Schedular, as I am creating schedule for Query Based Report. SAP B1 sends the mail with attachment
    but the attachment name is taken by SAP is "Report.Pdf". I am having hundreds of Reports which get automatic execute based on my query
    at end of every months.So I have created Hundred Schedular for this Reports but now its tough to identify which report mail has being sent by SAP
    because in every mail its create same name for the attachment i.e "Report.Pdf".
    Can anyone suggest me how do I change the name of the attachment before its mailed ?

    Thanks but it is not working. Actually SAP is not considering Report Title for attachment name.
    I am having 100 reports for which 100 schedular to be created for one time and it will trigger automatically at the end of every month so SAP should automatically take the
    name of report as attachment because user dont know which will be the next report going to execute by SAP.  If SAP consider report name as attachment it will be easy for client to know which report he received and can save directly to it system without changing name of attachment manually.

There seems to be no option in my production tab to enter resource information! Would be great if you could possibly tell me how to figure this out.

    Without capturing the actual time of production orders, it is not possible to perform scheduling. You may create planned production order by based on theoretical time.
    Only third party add-on fulfill your requirement.

    I know, we can use Activity function to Schedule for these visits, but is it possible to Schedule recurrence like Outlook.

    The duration OR number of visits per customer / Sales Order will be different based on Contract period.
    So we cant change query every time & we want it to be USER FRIENDLY.

    Dear Experts,
           My client wants me to substantiate of how SAP PS is Better than Primavera...
    As of my knowledge i have prepared these points..
    1)Primavera is a piece of software that helps, supports companies to work in a project environment this is only advantage.Where as ,SAP is ERP system that can support all aspects of  company FI, CO, PP, etc, and we can use many master  data from other modules in PS.
    2)Since SAP PS part of mySAP ERP, we will be able to bring together the triple constraints, such as time, cost and resource on a real time basis, which is not possible in other project management tool.Controlling of Project Management from the financial point is only possible through ERP. especially budget control.
    3) Monitoring the real time data also possible through SAP PS.
    4) Major advantage with SAP PS is integration with other modules.
    Is anything there to addition of above points.If there please share or else any documents related this please share..

    Hi Suma,
    Its a misconception that Primavera cannot handle triple constraints. Am posting some screenshots. No PM application is complete if it cannot handle these three time, cost, resource.
    Adding to your list Primavera has the ability to plan, monitor, control risks which is absent in PS. Primavera enables you to plan your project based on three point estimation which is not possible with SAP PS networks. These are just a few pointers.

    I am not familiar with BW  and request some advise.
    We would like to have some information with regard to list of all the jobs / schedules which are running on our BW server.
    With date / time./ daily /weekly/ whatever,
    With start time and end time ... of the schedule.
    Which transaction - will help me to get this information.
    Because we would like to see the entire schedules list and then schedule some jobs on the BW server.

    Goto t-code SM37
    1)Give job name and user name as *
    2) Select the job status: Scheduled/Released/ready/Active/Finished/Cancelled
    3)Job start condition :Input from Date and To Date (From when you would like to see the jobs)
    4)Now execute, system will display all the jobs accordingly.

    I activated LO extraction for 2LIS_11_VAHDR
    Which is the best option  "Update Mode"  like Queued Delta, Direct Delata, Unserialized V3 Update ?
    Under "Job Control"  I selected "Start Date"  like today's date & time and Start job(every) = 10mints
    When I try to schedule job system is giving error message "Error Generating job"
    When I click "Job Overview"  system saying "Job list is empty"
    I did't selecte print param
    Bottom line is I need to schedule this job every 10mints every day in order to get the Delta records into RSA7.

    If we can't schedule this job every 10 mints how can I able to retrive the delta records into Queue(RSA7)

    Team,
    When using the EPC Wizard to connect to Oracle Primavera API, I reached to the step where you get asked to enter the path to the jar file of the Primavera API :
    However, when I enter the path of the shared file, I'm getting this error :
    Validation error:Invalid jar file pathLogon failure: unknown user name or bad password
    This is a stupid limitation in the EPC wizard, I'm not able to disable username/password  prompting in the server, It should provide away to enter credentials so I not get this error. Any Ideas how to resolve this ?

    I am using the administrator user.  What roles do I need to have?
    I have not created an alias specific to this system.  The error log refers to the local alias.  I have successfully created alias's for my other systems, but not the local system.  Is this something I need to do?
    Obviously I am new to portals, so any further guidance would be great to get this running.  I really just need to be able to launch some of the normal ECC iviews.  I have been successful in creating my own in visual composer, calling a bapi.  So, I know the links are ok.  Just not from the portal.
