Scheduling of Iphoto and Web Gallery Uploads

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is an app or built in functionality in iPhoto that allows one to schedule when photos can be uploaded to the MobileMe web gallery? I don't want to do this whilst I'm working on my PC and will rather tell it what to upload and then schedule the upload for later the evening when I don't use my Mac ...
Any ideas .. ?
Thank you,
E

There is not - you can suggest to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback
For now just do your gallery changes last thing before you quit for the evening

  • IPhoto 08 Crashes during Web Gallery upload

I have been having trouble uploading a second Web Gallery to my .Mac website. iLife 08 installed fine and I was able to upload one Web Gallery but I have attempted to upload another and each time I upload the crash occurs.
There is approxmimately 400MB of photos and movies taken with a 7.1 megapixel Sony camera in this Web Gallery (all imported from camera using iPhoto). I don't think that 400MB could be consideredn as being too large that it causes this problem.
The biggest pain is that after the crash the whole 400+MB of photos have to be uploaded again from scratch, nothing is saved on the server. Is it possible to allow it to save uploads as they progress so this doesn't happen?
    TIA

    D2C:
Yes you can. Go to iPhoto's Preferences and in the Web Gallery section you can rename the gallery title.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto 08 and Web Gallery are out of sync.

I used iphoto to upload 3 events to web gallery last night, and left it go over night. I selected the first event, and clicked on web gallery and it started to upload. I then clicked on another one while the first was uploading and did the same. Both events were listed in web gallery, one was syncing in progress, the other just had a spinning sync icon. I then added a 3rd event to the list to sync, which appeared under web gallery as expected, so I went to bed.
I woke up this morning and iPhoto exited. I checked my web gallery and found the 1st web gallery I synced was fine. The 2nd gallery existed, but contained both the 2nd and 3rd events. I then loaded iPhoto and it has no entry for the 2nd album in web galleries. So now I have an album on gallery.mac.com that I cannot control from iPhoto (including deleting).
Anyone have any ideas on what to do? I submitted a feedback form for iphoto, but it says don't hold my breath on a response. So I'm hoping someone here can help me.
There are 61 photos in the album I cannot control.
    Regards
    Simon

Go to web gallery, find out the album ID that you need to delete.
    iDisk -> Web -> Sites -> _gallery
Delete the album ID of the albums that arn't in iphoto.
    Then resync the albums missing.

  • IPhoto and compression of uploads to iWeb albums and Web Galleries?

It appears it's been established that iPhoto automatically sizes uploads to Web Galleries and iWeb albums to 800x600 no matter the resolution of the original picture.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5118968#5118968
You can clumsily work around this in Web Gallery by uploading directly through the gallery upload button or via email, as discussed here.

What I'm wondering is whether there's a way to do something similar in an iWeb album? My experience is that even if I do specify the option in the photo inspector to allow Original (Full Quality) downloads from the album, the files are still heavily compressed somewhere along the line, with 2.2MB originals coming back at 650KB or so.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Hi.
I don't have iPhoto 08 yet, but had a similar concern in iPhoto 6. I let iWweb do it's thing and then overwrote the images that it produced.
How? I edited the photos to the way I wanted them in Photoshop or Aperture(!) and saved it out to the largest size (800x600, I believe). Then I set up an Automator action to dupe and resize the pictures to the thumbnail size. When done, I moved the files to my iDisk and put em wher they belong.
It's a bit of a hassle, but I got the quality that I wanted...also, not sure if that'll work in 08...

  • Iphoto 6 and web gallery question

I'm a newbie, so please excuse me if this sounds stupid. I have iphoto 6 and have successfully made photo pages, but I can't figure out how to start a web gallery. (I want other people to be able to upload their photos.) I've tried looking at tutorials & stuff but they all have to do with iphoto '08. Am I just blind? I haven't subscribed yet to .mac, I'm still in the trial, does that make a difference? I'd appreciate any help,

I was referring to the customer reviews of ilife '08 on the Apple website. You're right though, most of the negativity was regarding iMovie 7, and the majority of the iPhoto complaints were about their current published photo pages being "all messed up". That doesn't bother me so much because I want to start over with a new web gallery anyway. Also, a guy I talked to said that he was having trouble with iPhoto 7 and his photoshop work. (Like I said, I'm new to this, so my feeble brain lost the exact terminology he used.) I think I will trust what you say though and go ahead and buy it just because it looks so **** pretty. Thank you for your help!

  • Web Gallery uploads not updating iPhoto?

Okay, maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought that when people upload photos to my web gallery, iPhoto then downloads those photos into its own copy of the web gallery the next time it is run.
I have a web gallery that started out with 79 photos. A friend of mine uploaded 37 photos, bringing the total to 116. Unfortunately, the only place this is confirmed is in the title of the web gallery when viewed on the web. It says (116) right after the title. The number of actual pictures displayed on the site is still 79.
Curiously, after updating the web gallery on iPhoto, the number increased to 80 from 79, but the web site still shows only 79 photos.
Any ideas? Do I have the concept of web galleries wrong?

In my case, web gallery albums to which people have tried to upload pics show in parens double the number I've uploaded via iPhoto, but none of their photos show up. I, and my friends have conducted many tests now and it seems no photos larger than 380K will upload from the web. No error messages, the little green arrow appears as if everything worked fine, but no pics show up.
I've provided feedback and emailed support and tried phone support - no glory - ah well, maybe an update is in the works - would really like to hype that feature.

  • Slide Shows in iLife, iPhoto, iWeb  '08 and Web Gallery

I have iLife '08 abd thus iWeb '08 and developed my website in 2006 using iWeb '06. I also belong to .Mac and therefore have access to that Web Gallery or .Mac Gallery (unsure which name it has). I like the newer slide shows/carousels that are newly available and would like to know whether I can make such slide shows and place such slide shows in my iWeb website.
I realize that another alternative is to make a slide show and put it in the Web Gallery and access it in my website via a URL pointing to the slidehow.
Is it true that ALL OF THE VARIATIONS OF SLIDE SHOWS are created in iPhoto '08? If so, then I guess if I make the slideshows there, I can decide where I want to place them (in my website or in Web Gallery).

  • IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08

I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.

I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.

  • Web gallery upload problem - the server switched to FTPS and now Bridge CS6 won't recognize it.

I use Bridge CS6 on a Mac to create & upload web galleries directly to my website. My web server just changed and they no longer support FTP, only FTPS. When I try to upload a web gallery now, Bridge gives me the message that my username/password is incorrect. I have tested the server and can connect via Fetch so I know that it's possible to connect to the server. Is there anywhere in Bridge that allows you to change the FTP settings to allow it to recognize the FTPS? I cannot seem to find any information, I feel like there should be a simple fix and I'm probably overlooking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I Have a Master collection license. Is there a possibility to install Bridge separately ? There is no option to install it separately during the install process :-/
Bridge is not a seperate program.  It is part of Photoshop.  That is why some users have to  launch Bridge the first time from PS to make it work.
Not familliar with the Suite, but if there are other applications where you can launch Bridge from the program try it.
Also, make sure you have uninstalled any Adobe trials that may cause a conflict with permissions.

  • Web Gallery - Upload from web page doesn't work

I've created a web gallery with upload permissions set, no name or password, and none of my friends or relatives can get anything to successfully upload.
I'm using iPhoto 8 version 7.0.2 (341) to build my web gallery, but uploading for others just doesn't work. They get the dialog to enter their name and email, they can choose images, they get the progress window, then nothing. I've deleted the gallery and rebuilt it, I've renamed it, I've looked in my _gallery folders on iDisk, and so no, ad nauseum, ad infinitum.
Anybody know what's up with the Gallery?

I've not used the upload but some have reported that it does not work BUT that uploading via e-mail does work -- give the e-mail route a try as a work around and report the problem to Apple -- iPhoto menu ==> Provide iPhoto Feedback

  • Web Gallery upload

I enabled the setting "Allow visitors to upload photos" on my Web Gallery to test this feature. When I navigate to the site, I can access the Upload button and everything seems fine on the browser end. The files get "uploaded", but when I return to the Web Gallery or iPhoto, the photos do not arrive.
I've also tested the add by email feature, and that works just great.
Anyone have answers or similar problems?

  • Reload iPhoto .mac web gallery photos

I have reinstalled iPhoto' 08 because it stopped working. After reinstall it I can update the .mac web gallery, every gallery I add, appears in .mac web gallery after the first 4 galleries wich were uploaded before reinstall iPhoto.
Is it possible to force iPhoto to reload that galleries? I would not like to delete that galleries and upload it again.

I've founded how to solve my problem in another place from this forum.

  • Save web gallery uploads locally

    Hi gang,
I'm not sure about how the Web Galleries work. Friends have uploaded photos to my Web Gallery, and I can see them in iPhoto, however, I am concerned that I don't have a local copy. I've tried dragging them from the Web Gallery into my main iPhoto library, but it is not clear if there is a local copy or not. If I delete the photo from the Web Gallery, is it gone or do I still have a local copy?
    Cheers!

    Hi Damian,
I do the same manner as you. Then I say that "export is not save", I say that an export it not re usable in Lightroom. So If you don't base your gallery on a collection (but just some selected files) and a saved customed template (with your own title, description, ...), if you find an error in your picture legend, for example, you can't regenerate you gallery. You have to re select your pictures, choose the same template, re type the title and the description, ...
If the only manner to keep these informations is the "add" a new template, is the name "template" really a good choice ? For me, a template is something re usable. In this case, I don't think that I will have more than one gallery whit the same title and description ! So if a custom template was called "Gallery" ok. And in this case, pictures used must be saved too !
Yesterday, I made 5 web gallery for my site. I begin by creating 5 collections. After that, I go in the web module and I create 5 custom template (same parameters, just other title and description) and I export these 5 galleries.
When I surf into them, I found that the pictures (not the thumbnails) where to small. So I have to modify this parameter in my 5 templates. And regenerate them :
    - go to the library module
    - select a collection
    - return to the web module
    - select the template
    - export the gallery
    5 times !!!
Not so logical, isn't it ?

  • Lightroom Crashing on Web Gallery Uploads

Is anyone else experiencing LR crashes while trying to upload web galleries? The program completely shuts down and has to be restarted. I've removed the library.plist file and still have issues. • IPhoto 08 Web Gallery Auto-resize?

I am using iPhoto 08 to create a Web Gallery but have very large photo files. Does iPhoto upload at the original file size or does it automatically scale down to sizes more appropriate for web viewing?
I want to ensure people can download photos from my gallery for printing but my original 12 megapixel photos would normally be overkill for most and I don't want ridiculous upload times.
Must I re-size prior to uploading?

    King D:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. iPhoto automatically resizes the photos for the slideshow to 800 x 600 pixels. If you select to have them download the files will resized to a maximum pixel dimension of 3055 x 2033 and receive some jpg compression to bring the size down to a more manageable size.
I had a file that was 4064 x 2704 and 4.5 MB in size reduce to the dimensions above and 560KBs. For some reason the 3055x2033 size is the largest that can be uploaded without being resized down to those dimensions.
Publish one of the files to a gallery and see what size it is reduced to.
    Happy New Year
