Schematic needed: 1905-S301 laptop

My 1905-S301 was in a lightning strike. The power supply died and was replaced. After replacement the laptop appeared to be okay. The battery charges fine and the unit appears to work correctly. I upgraded the hard drive afterward as I'd intended to do so anyway. While surfing the net on a wired connection (downloading drivers, et cetera) I noticed that downloads were taking longer than they should, and even hanging up. I noticed that the power supply seemed warmer than it should have been, so I figured I'd disconnect it. When I did the download sped up. Plugged the power back in, and the download slowed back down again.
I have the "maintenance" manual for the unit and tore the unit down to the system board (a BTR20 LA1391, rev. 1A). I inspected the board under a high-powered magnifier and saw no obvious signs of failure (cracked components, burned traces, and so on). I'm guessing there is a component in the ethernet circuit that is bad, and want to attempt a repair. Because of cost and the unit's actual value nowadays, the laptop will not be taken in to a service center for repair--I am capable of performing the repair myself. But, I need a schematic for this unit and the maintenance manual doesn't include one.
How can a get a circuit schematic for this unit?

• How can I turn on the mini-PCI WiFi card on Satellite 1905-S301?

greetz! I have installed an optional mini-PCI wireless LAN card into my Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 notebook and turned on its power switch. MS WXP Pro SP2 recognized the hardware and installed its drivers - there is no cross or question mark next to the Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter in the Device Manager. However the Wireless Network Connection Manager is telling me there is no wireless adapter present. When hitting Fn+F8 a window pops up saying There is no build-in wireless LAN.
What do I need to do to enable my optional wireless LAN mini-PCI card??? If possible, email your suggestions to my email, please!

Hi
You have to enable the WLan switch at the notebook side!!!
Additional select the WLan card properties and check the Advanced tab.
There should be an option called Radio on/off. You have to set it to on.

• New PC card doesn't fit satelite 1905-S301

I just ordered a new 4 x usb pc card to substitute for the two broken usb ports on the back. The problem is that the new card will not fit into the pc card slot. I use a netgear wireless pc card and it seems to have larger pin holes than the new usb pc card. The satelite ahs 2 type II pc card slots and the new card is type II. Did the pin sizes change in last 9 years, or did they manufacture the new card wrong?
I got the new card from newegg.com laptop acessories -> (guided search on left side) laptop add-on cards -> 4 x usb card -> look for koutech IO pcmcia card. I'm sending this one back.

According to the specs, that "32-bit CardBus Type II" should fit your computer.

• Satelite 1905-S301 Recovery Disk problems

I've recently gotten a Satelite 1905-S301 that I wanted to take back to "out of box" so I ran the recovery disks 1 thru 3 of 3 and all was going well but on the 3rd disk it says it can't find/open file PREINS005.GHS (or close to that name from memory) every time and won't finish causing me to cancel out. I searched the 3rd disk but didn't find the file, but it does have PREINS002.GHS. I see the disk 2 has PREINS002, 003, 004 of the file. So now I'm stuck in mid-install. Could the recovery disk not have the correct file on it? Shouldn't be a drive reading error since it completed the first two several times and the computer worked OK prior to resinstall. Planning on abandoning the recovery and going to a new Windows install I have. Thoughts?

Make sure the CD or DVD disk is clean with no smudges or scratches. Even the slightest imperfection can cause the recovery process to crap out. If cleaning the disk doesn't help try making a copy of it on another system. Copying it will often times solve the problem as the copy process will continue to attempt to read the information from a disk where the recovery process will halt as soon as it sees the slightest glitch. Make sure that you burn the copied disk at the slowest possible speed to ensure an optimum burn and be sure to use GOOD quality blank media.

• Satellite 1905-S301: Virus changed notebook model name?

I think my Satellite 1905-S301 has been exposed to a virus. It's the worst I've ever seen: it deleted my antivirus (AVG free), firewall (Zonealarm) and Spybot; disabled WinXP security center, firewall and automatic update; I'm unable to go into safe mode (blue screen at start up); and I can't even use the recovery CD because it changed my machine to a 1900-801. This virus seems like it has intelligence.
Anyone know how I can force the Recovery CD to restore my system?

Update: After frantic googling, I think the virus responsible for this mayhem is the W32.Beagle trojan.
At first I used Panda ActiveScan (http://www.pandasoftware.com) and found the m_hook.sys. Upon further diggging in regedit, I found out it's in the "hidires" directory, however, the folder is hidden by "rootkit" method. I then used F-Secure Blacklight (http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/) to reveal and rename the files in hidires, which were deleted afterward.
So now my system is no longer infected and I have my defences back, but I still can't use my recovery CD because the virus' changed the model number. Any help?

• If specific policy need to apply laptops? how to implement site GPO

i have designed AD 5 site (location) blue print please assist me on few thing. i have created AD sites and services and created necessary OU like site A, Laptop, Desktop, standard user, admin
user etc. second how to implement site GPO i am looking one example? it is necessary to link Domain GPO to Site? thrid question workstations means consist of all laptop & desktops OU's so if specific policy need to apply laptops?

Hi,
>>it is necessary to link Domain GPO to Site?
Usually, GPOs should be not be applied to sites. It is usually applied to domains and organizational units.
Regarding group policy on sites, the following artilce can be referred to for more information.

>>thrid question workstations means consist of all laptop & desktops OU's so if specific policy need to apply laptops?
There are several ways to apply group policy settings to specific computer accounts. Firstly, if laptops and desktop machines belong to different OUs, you can just simply link the specific GPOs to the corresponding OUs. Secondly, if both laptops and desktop
machines belong to the same OU, you can use security filtering or WMI filtering to apply GPOs to specific computer accounts. Thirdly, if the computer settings are configured under Group Policy Preferences node, you can utilize item-level targeting to
apply the GPP settings to specific computer accounts.
Regarding security filtering, WMI Filtering, and GPP ILT, the following blog can be referred to for more information.

• I need recovery for laptop Pavilion dv6-1235ee

I need recovery for laptop Pavilion dv6-1235ee , I need the link for the recovery or send recovery cd to my mail

If you have the recovery partition intact on your notebook, you can just press F11 during boot and it will take you to the recovery mode. Just follow the instructions to perform a recovery and it will reset your notebook back to the factory settings.
In case you do not have the recovery partiion, I would advise you to go through the following document which will help you resolve the issue:

My previous laptop has broken and I want to copy my tunes from my ipod classic to me new laptop, how do I do that, each guide I've read refers to needing the old laptop which isn't an option?

You are not going to be able to recover the music from your iPod to you new laptop.
It doesn't work that way. It only move music from you iOS device to your computer.
You can download what you purchased from Apple. Anything else is lost.
Hence the reason we are always harping on backups.

• Which Wi-Fi Mini-Card for Satellite 1905-S301?

Hi everybody,
could not find wi-fi minicard for my notebook:-(( Could somebody help me? Which card would be best for me?
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Yes, it works fine with a pcmcia card, but the 1905-s301 was sold with an offer for a free internal wireless card, and has a slot for the card. (Unfortunately, they had run out when I requested mine). So it is certainly compatible with an internal mini card. The question is: which one? I found a Toshiba card (PA73U-1PMC) that I was told is compatible - but can't locate the driver. Another dealer advised that it was PA3233U-1MPC - but I haven't tried that one.

• In need of a Laptop with ExpressCard Slot

Hi,
I was trying to use the search for finding a laptop with ExpressCard® Slot, but had no luck with that.
If anyone can recommend me a couple of models that carry this port, I'll be grateful.
Due to the hardware I need to use this is a must. No substitution yet for this port.
Thanks in advanced for your input.
Best regards.

There appear to be some Tecra and Portege models.

• I want to connnect my early 2012 MBP to my LG HDMI. I have the HDMI cable. What connector do I need for the laptop?

Please give me the name of the connector for the laptop. Is it a "display port"?

Note that you'll find two alternatives: one that has a TB plug at one end and a little box with a female HDMI jack at the other or a cable that has male TB and HDMI plugs at both ends. First one gives you the flexibility of using a standard HDMI cable of whatever length you need, at an extra cost. Second simplifies things and eliminates one connection (and possible point of failure), but may limit how far away you can place the computer from the display.

• Will there be a 13 inch Macbook pro with Retina Display? I need a new laptop

I will need to buy a new laptop for school and since they have a new model for the 15 inch laptop, I was wondering whether theywil update the 13 inch model as well.

I lament it is against the TOS on this site to speculate on unannounced Apple products. Not only could it be a wonderful market litmus test for Apple to utilize (for free) but what better online board exists to let the company we pay a premium to be a part of know what we as the consumers would like to see next?

• HELP !! advice needed to connect laptop to router

hi all, i want to connect a router to a single laptop..no desktop or any other pc ..just single laptop..before i go ahead and buy a router...how easy is it to do ?...what cables or other connections may i need ( if any)..it is quite a modern laptop with in built wireless connection..running winxp etc etc...any help or advice would be really most appreciated..many thanks in advance

What kind of wireless card do you have in your computer? wireless g? wireless n?
The first question you need to decide is this: Do you want a wired network or a wireless network?
Advantages of a wired network:
Easier to setup and maintain.
Better security.
In some cases, faster speeds.
Cheaper.
All your network devices (computers, printers, etc.) must be wired to the router. In some cases, this means you must run a cable through your walls.
Advantages of a wireless network:
Your computer can connect to the Internet wirelessly, so you can move about your home or apartment without needing an Internet wire connected to your computer.
If your computer and router are in different rooms you can connect them wirelessly (you usually do not need to run a network cable through your walls).
Your network devices can connect to the router by wire or wirelessly.
So, do you want a wired network or a wireless network?
Also, since you are just starting out, I would suggest you go to Linksys.com , to the "Learning Center" and take some of the tutorials. This will help you understand some of the basics of networking.

• Need advice on laptop CPU and RAM

Hello,
I've just started a Multimedia and Design education, where I will be working with Adobe cc - mostly Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign. I'm looking for a portable laptop to use while in school, and I have found one with a good IPS display and SSD.
My question is, if I should I go with an dual core i5-4210M (2,6Ghz) or a quad core i7-4712MQ (2,3GHz)? - and If I should go for 8GB of RAM or 16GB?
I have googled for hours now and people seem to have very different opinions on what these programs need in order to run good. I realize that more is better, but I want to know if it's necessary.
At home I have a stationary PC with a 4790K, 16GB RAM, GTX 980, SSD +HHD which I will be using for all my work when at home. So the laptop I'm looking to buy is "just" my placeholder while in school - Not 8 hours a day as a job, but as a learning tool that will be sufficient and get the job done when I'm not at home.
I'm really hoping some of you could shed some light on what I should be going for here.
Thanks.
