School project VI design for a computer

I am a sophomore mechanical engineering student and in need of some help. In my ENGR 201 (Evaluation and Presentation of Experimental Data) our final project is to design a VI for a bicycle speedometer using LabVIEW. I fell asleep halfway through reading the guidelines and wanted to ask if I can use an alternative idea (not saying the bike speedo would be difficult). One of my passions is computers. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on relating this to a project design. Possibly designing a motherboard etc etc.
I'm not sure if this is overly ambitious considering my limited labview knowledge, but I know I'd have a lot more of an easy time researching how to do this instead.
Is there anywhere I can find some example projects or template VIs...
 Thanks

I am not sure i understood, what you want, but take a look here.
Also look at the Labview examples. Some of them are quite interesting

Hi, i'm kind of a nubie to Muse CC, but love what i've seen so far...so much so that i also purchased a one-year subscription to muse-themes.com, in order to download a theme that would give me a head-start with a new portfolio site i have to do for myself.
Just to explain why i'm only a noob to Muse CC, but not to web-design as a whole:
I have used the Creative Suites for many, many years, and before that used Photoshop and Dreamweaver to "hand program" my sites, so i'm an HTML veteran of 15 years...no experience with Javascript or anything like that, but i've done my own sites from scratch since the old Netscape days.
    Back to my issue/question:
After modifying the template i downloaded from muse-themes.com and doing a first few hours of customization on it (some text, headers and images) and using business catalyst to preview what i've done, and quite liked it for a first start, but when checking the design on my iPad, i discovered with disappointment that not only did it not show *any* of my customizations (only the original, generic theme design and content), but even then, menu items had weird glitches, and the long scrolling content of the computer version didn't appear after the first couple of page-heights.
Let's forget about the glitches for moment...my main question is:
If a theme has been designed with Desktop, Tabel and Phone versions in mind, will i have to maintain content and all changes *separately* for all 3 platforms?! is there a way to "sync" changes between platforms...in other words, since Computer and Tablet versions should pretty much be exactly the same, can i have Muse automatically interpret what i do for the Computer version *also* for the Tablet version? i do understand that the Phone version should get special attention, but even then, shouldn't text and header changes "trickle down" through all versions of the site?
Am i doing something wrong here, or is building 3 separate versions independently really what i am expected to do?
I keep seeing many references to "responsive UI designs"...is this why people work on one responsive design, rather than on 3 separate versions, or are those issues not really related?
Excuse my naive questions, but i have a difficult time believing that Muse CC, and/or a custom theme, purchased from a reputable 3rd party company (such as muse-themes), would require me to maintain 3 websites for 3 device platforms, with no "communication" between the 3 during the design process...there must be a way to "sync" my changes/updates, or is this really so?
Just to illustrate what i am talking about, here is the first revision of the theme i purchased:
    http://kruegervp.businesscatalyst.com/index.html#top

Hope I can help here .....
The first issue is most likely a Business Catalyst caching issue that pops up occasionally. Or it could be that the original template had a Tablet view done and that is what you are seeing instead of the desktop view.
Yes, you will need to maintain content seperately on the different views. This is actually a good thing in my opinion as you likely won't want all the same content on all three.  As for the responsive sites, while yes you do have to only update once it also can take a much longer time to develop to get consistant results. With the so many different browser widths now it is getting more and more difficult to display the site consistantly and properly.
So while one may be more to update it is much less to develop and the other is much more to develop but less to maintain. It works out in the end.

Is it possible to create a schedule in Labview . Example: i want to off the lights at 7pm and want it on at 8am. If there is can anyone teach, its for a school project. Im using labview 2011...thx

Since this is a school project I recommend you do the work yourself. You will not learn asking others to do it for you. In addition, folks here will not do your homework for you. We are however more than wiling to answer specific questions for you. Post what you have done or tried and ask specific questions. I am confident you will get assistance.
And to answer your question, yes LabVIEW can be used to implement a scheduling program.

  • Trying to get 4 clips on the screen at once for school project - HELP!!!:)

    Hi there,
I am trying to finish a school project about a fieldtrip which we have been on over the past few days and want four clips from the movie I have made to be on in the background while the title comes on the screen for each day.
Can anyone help please? I have seen some plugins but cannot afford to buy them just for this video but am desperate to make it look how I want it!
    Thank you all in advance,
    Matt Williams

You might try to use the button windows for your seperate movie clips. These can be moved about and enlarged. Try this site, it does a good job with an overview http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/idvd_5stone.html
The other way if you want only short portions of the four clips you can make them into short quicktime clips and drop them into the dropzones of a theme that has 4 drop zones. You do this by editing your clip (split at playhead) and sharing to QT then put in the drop zone.
Not entirely sure what you are trying to do but hope that helps.

I bought CS3 several years ago while in school, but had to drop out before I even opened the software. A few months ago I opened and installed the software and used Photoshop to complete a review project in preparation for my return to school. This morning when I tried to open Photoshop again I got a message saying the license didn't support the software anymore and I would need to check with my IT administrator or contact Adobe. I tried calling Adobe but the recorded message said CS was not phone supported. I know it took me a long time to get back to school, but it seems sad to waste the $1,000 I spent on the software. Is there a solution to this issue or do I need to buy new software? Thank you for your help if you have any suggestions.

h264.mp4 is actually the most common 'standard' (4000 video 'standards' aaaaand counting)
mp4 is indeed universal (Mac, Windows, Linux), and since YouTube, the h264 codec has a good installed base .....
you can bump into probs only when it comes to sheer amount of data:
for instance cheap 'digital frames' are sortof over-whelmed, if you try to playback 720/30p in high quality.
I'm not familiar with 21st cent devices as SmartBoards ... again, it could happen, you have to reduce resolution/fps/bit-rate to avoid clutter&stutter in the video.
I'm using such encoded files successfully on Playstation3, WD HD TV or flatscreenTVs with integrated usb-connection (via stick), etc
    imho, it should work welll .............. < fingers-crossed >

  • Site examples of using css to design for smartphone, tablet, projection

    Hi,
Can anyone recommend a site that uses css to design for different platform using css. Not a standalone mobile site, but one where the existing site uses jquery to show the sites differntly.
I saw a video of it using cs5.5 and it seems to be the way forward, but would love to see how others designed/structured their sites to use this technology.
    Cheers
    Dave

    Hi
The best place to view demo's regarding the jQuery mobile framework is the official site at - http://jquerymobile.com/. But remember designing and building a site specifically for mobiles, (tablet/mobile/cell devices) is no longer a completely different process to a normal site and all smart-phones can now display a normal desktop web site as good as a desktop pc, (and when it comes to html5/css3 even better).
The use of redirects for mobile devices is now an old outdated recommendation, and is the equivalent of saying to any tablet/smart-phone user, "Use IE7 or go-away", so unless you are mainly targeting pre-2008 devices do not bother, (Google and similar do this because they are covering 'all' devices and present a very simple page design which convert to mobiles without much difficulty). It is now a more widely accepted method to use media-queries to display a link to a mobile specific site, that is hidden on larger displays.
Do not get hung-up as some do on this site with the iPhone, it is only one of the devices that must be targeted, and is not even the most popular having a smaller market share than Android powered devices, (I personally use the iTouch, (which has the same web capabilities as the iPhone) and the Samsung Galaxy S2 for my personal testing, then SDK's and 3rd party testing services for other devices) a popular blog with many links that is specific to mobile development is - http://www.visionmobile.com/blog/.
With regards to testing on mobiles, you do not require a iPhone specifically, and if you are on the mac you can download the SDK for accurate testing, (but then what does one do for all the other devices?) and the true mark of a professional, (which I do not claim to be, my clients may, but I do not, and anyone saying they are whilst 'insulting' others must be viewed with suspicion, as inter-personal skills are also part of any designers/developers necessary skills) is knowing that you must test on all popular OS's and devices, (similar to browsers, and just testing on the iPhone is like just testing your site in IE8 and ignoring everything else) so for setting up a local testing suite see - http://www.mikebrittain.com/blog/2010/01/31/browser-testing-for-mobile-web-applications/, and/or you can also use a 3rd party service such as - http://www.deviceanywhere.com/.

  • How do I burn a iDVD project on more than one computer?

I created an iDVD (7.1.2) project with three elements. Two iMovies made from iMovie '11 and a presentation made from Keynote (5.1.1).
I deleted the chapters in the slide show to help simplify matters and it did cut down on my burning/processing time.
I made this iDVD project for my son's 5th grade graduation. We would like to burn 135 copies to give each family one 'favor/dvd' for memory keepsake.
I do not want to burn 135 copies on my Superdrive (new to owning a mac) and do not want to ruin my Superdrive for a school project.
I can not take this to a commericial duplicater because of copyright issues with the music. We are not selling the copies, just giving a memory keepsake to the kids- of the year and the slide show from graduation, the other iMovie in iDVD, just contains one page of specifications; like my contact info and songs used etc..
I have parents that are willing to help me copy the movie, however I don't know how to do this?
I don't believe any of these parents have iDVD.
Someone mentioned through all my readings on apple communities and google, making an "ISO" of your project then anyone can make a copy of your movie on any platform: PC or Mac. What is an ISO? How do I make a ISO?
If I have a .img file from saving a disc image - would I burn the .img file to a dvd and give it to someone else to copy? Are there other files that need to go with my .img file?
If/When someone takes my .img file and puts it on their computer how do they copy it? Do they need burning software?
Can I just give a friend a burned DVD of my movie to burn copies on their computer?
What I tried: Bought a LaCie burner to use a external drive vs. my (Superdrive - worried about overuse). Saved project as a "Disc Image." Mounted to my Finder and then burned to external drive with disc utility. This worked successfully 4 times in a row then kept getting message "unsuccessful burn" I took the drive back to Fry's. Not sure if it was the drive?
Any advice to a newcomer would be great!
Summer has already begun and I would like to finish this project as soon as I can.
    Thanks so much, Deanna

Yes, you can distribute a burned disk of the project to those who can create duplicate disks.  Or create a disk image of the iDVD project using the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.
Then you can distribute the disk image to those who will burn the disks.  For PCs you'll have to convert the .dmg file to a .iso file so they can burn it.  This website describer how: Mac Help - Convert and Burn Mac .dmg or .img to .iso Windows PC-Compatible Disk Image
Suggest to them to burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
It would be prudent to rest your optical drive for about 30 minutes after burning 3 disks in a row. That will give the laser time to cool down before you start another batch.

  • Can I save a project on a flash drive with the videos that are in the project and edit on any computer with premiere pro?

I am trying to edit a home and school and need to edit all the time. Can i save my project file on my flash drive with all the videos and use the flash drive for editing on any computer?

IF all computers are on the exact same build of PrPro. Understand of course that if everything of the project is on one flashdrive, performance in playback & etc. with much in the way of effects or tons of cuts is going to be ... s l o w . But perhaps doable on say a school project, which probably doesn't have the total assets of say a season-length tv sitcom.

  • I'm looking for a computer with these specifications, can anyone help me?

I need to know if anyone can give me the names of a few laptops that have these MINIMUM specifications:
Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 Processor or any better processor
    4 GB of RAM
    Windows 7
1280 X 800 or more with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16 bit color, and 256MB of dedicated VRAM (not Shared Memory)
Graphics support for Shader Model 3.0, and OpenGL 2.0, DirectX 9-capable graphics card.
    DVD-drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs, Read/Write drive
    QuickTime 7.6.2 or newer
I'm going to an art school, and will probably be getting into some Graphic Design stuff, so if you don't know a computer that has a lot of these specific terms, could you give me perhaps a few names of good laptops for art students to buy?

    Hello Balkoth,
I work for Intel and aside from this being my job, I'm going to tell you to consider investing in a stronger processor. If you are going to be getting into Graphic Design, you will need more processing power. For your needs, I would suggest looking into the new Intel® Core™ i7 processor.
This is our top-of-the-line processor, ahead of the curve and will continue to perform as technologies continue to emerge. Not only will you have graphics support for Shader Model 3.0, and OpenGL 2.0, DirectX 9-capable graphics cards, but the i7 has Turbo Boost Technology (Speeds up your processor when you computer needs more performance) and  Hyper-Threading Technology (multitasking that allows your computer to work on two tasks at the same time). Even if you don't need all of these features now, you never know what you will need down the line. My general rule of thumb is to never buy something that is already behind the curve.
I would also recommend you looking into our other smart processors, i3 and i5, but I believe the i7 will be the best for your processing needs. Here is a couple computers I found with i7 processors and Windows 7 that you were looking for. Hope this helps!

  • BPEL Designer for JDeveloper?

I just installed JDeveloper and the BPEL Process Manager. My organization will be taking over an existing Oracle BPEL project and the old project lead indicated we should use the BPEL Designer.
I have been searching for the referenced BPEL Designer extension to JDeveloper for the last few hours. It has so far alluded me. Can someone provide the download URL: or explain what must be done. I went to the JDeveloper extensions site and it is not listed there.
Is ther a BPEL Designer for JDeveloper?

I downloaded Oracle JDeveloper 11G, the Technology Preview and installed the BPEL Process manager. I'm not able to create a BPEL process as described in the startup screen that pops up from the Windows Start menu when you select JDeveloper BPEL Designer.
I notice when I go the JDeveloper about box/Extensions list that all the BPEL stuff is grayed out with a description that it has been disabled by the user. I didn't touch a thing! How do I enable BPEL in JDeveloper?
I did a search on Google and found a reference to the ide.properties file, but when I search my computer I only find such a file for the Jdeveloper IDE itself and there's no reference to BPEL anywhere.
I'd love to start learning BPEL, but can't seem to get past this obstacle!
