  • I have Adobe acrobat prof and the Acrobat.exe*32 file continues to run constantly. Won't close

    Acrobat.exe will not stop running.  Uses all resources and computer is very, very sluggish.  If I close it in task manager - processes, it simply reopens and continues to use all resources.

    Continuing to run with all the resources is not normal. I would try a repair to Acrobat, possibly after a reboot. It may be that Acrobat is waiting for a file it was dealing with to close and something is preventing the closure.

  • Form fields in Acrobat Prof. 8.1.6 updating automatically

    I have a form I created in Acrobat Prof. 8.1.6. When I fill in one field it automatically fills in the same information in ever field on that line. I don't want it to do that and can't seem to find a way to make it stop. Not all lines are doing this. The top line doesn't do it, just all lines below. I am attaching the file so you can see for yourself what is happening. I want all fields to be independent of each other. Thanks for any help on this.
    I have already unchecked auto complete in preferences and this did not work.

    Go back to your form and look at it closely.
    None of the form fields should have the exact same name.
    if they do whatever is filled in in one will be filled in, all with same name.
    There actually is an advantage in rare occasions, to have that happen. say when you need the exact same information at top of each page in a form. You fill in once and it filled in in every page that needs the information.
    Name       Name      Name  , will have same information
    Name1     Name2     Name3 , will not.

  • Adobe Acrobat Prof. 8 and Adobe Reader Version 11 under Windows 8.1 x64

    Good Afternoon,
    my company plan migration from Windows XP to Windows 8.1 x64. For this reason shall I find out, which Software run under Windows 8.1 x64. From Adobe Products we need to know, if  Adobe Acrobat Prof. 8 and Adobe Reader Version 11 run under Windows 8.1.
    If the Software named above run not under Windows 8.1 x64, could you write me please, which version we need und how much it is. Thank you very much.
    Best Regards

    If you have Acrobat, there is no need for Reader. Acrobat 8 is not certified for use on Win8.1, only Acrobat XI. You can get the current cost from the Adobe Store at Adobe.com. The cost is a per computer license. If you have a lot of computer, you might be able to negotiate with Adobe on a volume order or site license (for so many licenses) -- you would have to call Adobe on that.
    AA 8 can be made to work in some cases, but I would not recommend it in a business environment. It is not worth risking some hickup with software that is marginally compatible when you have some deadline or such.

  • Problem - Konvertieren Office Dok in pdf mit Adobe Acrobat Prof 8 - WTS

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Secure websites automatically opens Acrobat Prof 6

    I am having a very unusual, yet very annoying problem with Acrobat Professional 6. After I updated Adobe Reader to version 8, Acrobat automatically launches every time I try to logon to two of my banking websites. When I type in my username and password on the banking site, Acrobat attempts to launch, but it gives me an error message which says: "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit and try again". When I click OK it gives me another error message: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit and try again." Everytime I click OK, it keeps repeating the error about 5 or 6 times in a row, until finally I get into my bank account. The thing is, I am not trying to view any PDF files, I just want to logon to my bank's website. This is extremely frustrating. I have tried uninstalling Acrobat Prof and Adobe Reader, but that does not help. I am running Vista and I know Acrobat 6 was not entirely compatible with Vista, but I have loaded the recent patch and it has worked fine on Vista for some time. Anyone have any idea what is causing this and have any solutions? Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    John, I read through the forum you referred me to and was surprised at how prevalent this issue was.
    The good news is that I discovered a fix that worked for me:

    I was previously running Reader 8 with Acrobat Prof 6 which was causing a conflict. I downloaded and installed Reader 9 and voila! No more opening Acrobat 6 when I try to login in to secure websites.
    Angela, not sure if this will solve your issue, but it is certainly worth a try.
    Thanks again for your help John.

  • Acrobat Reader XI and Acrobat 8 prof

    Running windows 7 64 bit with Adobe Reader XI and on same pc Acrobat Prof. 8 is also installed.
    When opening a pdf in explorer the following comes: "Cannot use Adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser. Reader will not exit.
    Please exit your browser and try again"
    Default pdf program is adobe XI, so it is not because it try to use Acrobat 8 in the browser.

    Acrobat versions before 10 and Adobe Reader on the same system was not really a supported configuration.
    But I don't know if this is what causes your problem (I have never seen that error message before).
    What is your IE version?

    Hallo Adobe-Experten,

  • C# Acrobat 8 vs. Acrobat 4

    Hi,
    I am currently switching the referenced DLL in a C# project from a prehistoric Acrobat 4 to an Acrobat 8 equivalent.
    My Question is what DLLdo I have to use now?
    Previously it used to be done like the following (using the ACRODISTXLib.dll):
    ACRODISTXLib.PdfDistiller myDist= new ACRODISTXLib.PdfDistillerClass ();
    myDist.OnJobFail +=new ACRODISTXLib._PdfEvents_OnJobFailEventHandler(handle_OnJobFail);
    myDist.FileToPDF(inputPostScript, outputPDF, jobOptions);
    For the new version it also states in the SDK that the above methods should be used, the problem is that I can not find the same methods in the DLL installed by Acrobat Prof 8. What I got is this:
    AdobePDFMakerX.Distiller acro8 = new AdobePDFMakerX.Distiller();
    //There is no "OnJobFailEventHandler
    acro8.DistillFile(inputFilename, outputFilename, promptForOutputName);
    So what should I actually be using (or why does the SDK still mention the PdfDistiller) ?
    Kind regards!

    After completely removing all Acrobat Products and making a new clean installation of Acrobat 8 the problem is solved, the ACRODISTXLib can be retrieved from the \Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\acrodist.exe as a reference in VS C#.

    Outside of batch, console, and menu events, the values of bUI and of interactive are ignored
    and a print dialog box will always be presented.

  • Acrobat 10 Pro vs Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

    Fellow Forum Members,
    Has Adobe dropped the Typewriter tool that Acrobat 9 had?  Also Acrobat 9 Pro Extended had an app called Presenter. Has this also been dropped?  Can anyone out there post a list of what features have been dropped from Acrobat 10 Pro that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended use to have.
    The biggest difference I see is in the file size between the two apps.  Acrobat 10 is close to 460 MB while Acrobat 9 as I remember was close to 1 GB. Does this difference in filesize mean that Acrobat 10 is missing a lot of the features version 9 had?  Evenmore, the GUI for Acrobat 10 looks very bare compared to version 9.  Has Acrobat 10 gone through some reverse evolution ?
    Any info will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Can anyone out there post a list of what features have been dropped from Acrobat 10 Pro that Acrobat 9 Pro Extended use to have.
    The headline differences are as follows...
    Items omitted from Acrobat X which where in one or more editions of Acrobat 9:
    1) Ability to import and transcode video/audio files other than MP3, Flash Video and H.264 (now handled by Adobe Media Encoder in Acrobat X Suite).
    2) Ability to import and transcode 3D model files other than U3D and PRC (now handled by the Tetra4D Converter application, sold separately).
    3) Ability to embed legacy rich media annotations (removed for security reasons - legacy media will play but cannot be created).
    4) Ability to import and register geospatial images and maps (now handled by export tools within native GIS software).
    5) Organizer and the History tree (users should use external fie management and browsing tools such as Adobe Bridge, etc).
    6) Support for Highlight File Format (functionality is no longer available).
    7) ADBC (users should convert to using XFA or SOAP).
    8) Headless import of InDesign files (now handled by the Export utility in InDesign itself).
    There are lots of tweaks under the surface to make the installer footprint smaller. Losing some of the above features make a big difference (geospatial and 3D support took a lot of space), and despite being smaller than Acrobat 9, Acrobat X includes many new features too - such as support for Office 2010, export to spreadsheet, intelligent scan and OCR, etc. It's certainly true that it's not possible to replicate the entire functionality of Pro Extended, but as many users only needed a fraction of the tools, splitting off the specialist stuff makes commercial sense too - Acrobat X Pro is significantly cheaper than Pro Extended, even if you factor in the cost of a couple of commercial plugins. For example many users who were using Pro Extended for video work also had a copy of Creative Suite, Vegas, etc., so they already had the ability to generate the correct video files - duplicating chunks of the conversion code in Pro Extended didn't make sense, and with full H.264 support in Acrobat X we can import files from most prosumer sources (camcorders, cellphones, etc) without any conversion at all.

  • Unable to Open Adobe Acrobat X Pro or Acrobat Reader

    I used to be bale to open PDF files in Adobe Acrobat X Pro but now I cannot. I can still see PDF files with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, but Abode Reader nor Adobe Acrobat X Pro will open. I can still create PDF file (with other programs) but Adobe Reader and Acrobat X Pro will not open. I can't even open the program to deactiviate the serial number. I tried using the Repair option under Control Panel but that didn't fix the problem. What should I do?
    Currently Windows 7, using Creative Suite 6 (comes with In-design, photoshop...etc and Adobe Acrobat X Pro).

    Run the Acrobat Cleaner Tool, reinstall Acrobat.
