Scion xB no long recognizes iPod

I tried hooking up my iPod to my xB's stereo through the car's add-on iPod adapter last week only to discover that it no longer recognized my iPod. Previous to this, things were fine. This happened after I updated to the latest version of iTunes/iPod software (7.1.1). I've tried restoring my iPod as well as resetting it several times. No luck. The iPod still connects to my computer, so there has to be something wrong with the new iPod software. I sure hope Apple can fix this soon. I spent a wad of money on the Scion's adapter so I'd like to know who's problem this is . . . other than mine.
Anyone else having the same problem?

My problem isn't as severe. After updating my ipod software, it started hanging whenever it finished the last song on an album.
After the last song finishes, it skips back to the first song on the album and then hangs, flashing the track number on & off e.g. "1/11". You can advance it to another track, but it is still hung. You can change to another artist or album, but it will not play.
The only way to get it to start playing again is to menu back to "all songs" and then start playing the first one on the list. After that, you can navigate to another album, but it will hang again when it finishes the last song on that one too.
I never had this problem before I updated the software, it worked perfectly in my xB. Apple????

  • ITunes no longer recognizes iPod after "Enable Disk Use"

I enabled the disk use on my iPod and now iTunes won't recognize it, meaning it doesn't appear in the source window and I can't disable the disk use and sync. The iPod only appears in the device manager as a USB storage device, but not in My Computer; the iPod flashes Do Not Disconnect. I've tried the 5 rs. Any advice/wisdom, anyone? Thanks.

In Device Manager, change the drive letter of the device, use M.

  • ITunes no longer recognize iPod or iPad, won't burn cds.

I've recently updated iTunes and it no longer recognises either my iPod or iPad mini. It also generates the "Registry settings used for importing and burning cds are missing etc" message on opening the program.
    So far I've tried:
    - Re-installing iTunes several times
    - Stopping and restarting the Apple mobile device service
    - Following the steps in the "iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes" troubleshooting guide, going into the registry key and adding in the GEARAspiWDM iTunes filter device.
    - And reinstalling iTunes a couple more times
This doesn't seem to have had any effect - what's the next step I should take? I'm using Windows 8.

eta - I've also been following the steps from here but I've been unable to empty the Temp directory, even with no apps runnings, and attemping to verify the Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed failed - the driver specified in the fix came up with an error that it wasn't compatible with my version of Windows, and there is no drivers folder in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\.

  • ITunes no longer recognizes iPod mini

Things with my ipod mini have been going downhill lately. Along with reduced memory (down from 4G to 3.77G last time I checked) and a weaker battery life, then it had when I first bought it. Now for the first time, the ipod is NOT SHOWING UP IN iTUNES! I realise the thing is getting old (almost 2 years) but I'd really rather not replace it yet, until it totally craps out on me and stops working (is that time coming soon?).
When the device was new and I connected it to my PC via the usb port, iTunes would open and the mini would be displayed on the left hand menu. Now it isn't showing up at all, I've given it some time, and it still isn't present. The mini beeped a few times when I first connected it, and the logo showed the cross circe with the "do not disconnect" logo. and then it went to the battery filling, only the graphic does not show the battery filling with the logo "charging" as it used to but instead the battery is 1/4 full and there is no movement in the graphic. Every once in a while it flashes back to the "do not disconnect" and beeps before returning to the battery graphic.
The iPod is of no use to me if I can't update music on it, unless I want to listen to the same songs over and over, but I'd really like to be able to update them, that's what I bought it for. Last time I charged it via the usb port on the computer it had difficulty (it did show up though) and I thought it had to do with my music library finally exceeding the mini's limits. The mini wouldn't charge and instead kept trying to update the libray of music, when it was too much for it to handle. I managed to go around the obstacle by deleting music off of it and dragging new music from my library onto the mini's icon in the menu (then it was in the mini's music.
After that incident I haven't had a need to update music on the mini and I have charged it using outside ports, which have work normally with the mini behaving like it used to and charging completely.
I'm hope my post is understandable, I'm not a very technical person, so my language might be amatuerish. I really would like to enjoy my mini again though so any help is appriciated.
    Thanks, Ashley

Update: I disconnected the mini for a while and just now tried re-connecting it. This time the ipod showed up in the menu after a minute or two. It still doesn't want to charge through the usb, but I can continue to use the wall port for that if I have to. Good news is I can now update my songs again =)

  • ITunes on xp no longer recognizes iPod

When I plug my ipod into my computer (either in the dock or directly) the ipod makes a "bip bip bip" sound, then does nothing. The ipod is charging, but never shows up in iTunes. I've been as far as I can through the "five Rs" (can't restore since the ipod doesn't show up in itunes).
There was a recommendation about changing a setting on the iPod services, but mine was already set that way.
With all the postings about various problems with iTunes 7, is Apple planning to update iTunes and solve the problem? Should I try to go back to iTunes 6?

  • Windows no longer recognizes iPod (Dell 9300)

I have a 60gb iPod Photo. I have a Mac Mini and a Dell Inspiron 9300 running XP Pro SP2. The Windows machine is the problem. It used to work fine, but now when I connect the iPod via any USB port on this laptop, I get the message "USB Device Not Recognized" in the tray. I have tried everything here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711
Except I can't 'restore' the iPod since it can't even communicate with it. I really don't want to have to restore anyways, as the iPod works fine on its own and via the Mac Mini. I also tried this but it has no effect:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301343
When I connect the iPod, the iPod's screen never changes to the "Do Not Disconnect" message -- the typical interface is there. I rebooted the iPod, uninstalled and reinstalled iPod Software and iTunes, deleted all the USB devices in the Device Manager so they had to be redetected. I tried different USB ports and adjusted their power management -- all that.
    PLEASE HELP! Thanks...

You think I should have to WIPE the iPod clean, restore its OS
    a two minute process
the incredibly time-consuming task of putting everything back on the iPod
At most, using a 60GB color iPod, it should take under two hours, or less than half the time it takes to charge. It's entirely automatic.
Granted, it is a big step to take when it works in three of the 4 configs you'd want, but if you want this to work, it's pretty much the only thing you haven't done.
    ---edit:
On the Mac, are you using USB or FW?

  • Mac and iTunes no longer recognizes ipod shuffle

All of a sudden, my iTunes doesn't see my iPod shuffle (2nd gen) anymore. It also doesnt appear on the desktop.
When I plug it in, the little orange light flashes, so it is charging. And the ipod itself still works.
I tried all the steps in this document, including updating iTunes and restarting my mac. I know the USB works because the iPod charges.

    what can I do?

Update: I disconnected the mini for a while and just now tried re-connecting it. This time the ipod showed up in the menu after a minute or two. • I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod

I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod although I can see the iphone but NOT the iPod on the computer (windows 8.1 Pro).  I checked everything , cable, services, stop and start and automatice, etc.and went through all the steps on the apple support site, to include removing all apple software in the designated order and reinstalling it.  iTunes still doesn't see the iphone.
The Apple iPhone shows up only under protable Devices in the Device Manager window and has a Yellow ! warning triangle, and there is no Apple USB controller in the devices menu.under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When I look under the properties of the Apple iphone, it says in Device Status, to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18).
When I do this,  I get the following: "Windows found driver softweare for you device but encountered an error when attempting to install it" Apple Mobile Device Driver One of the installers for th this device cannot perform the installation at this time. I tried both suggested locations on the C: drive.
Also I can't seem to find out how to install the Apple USB Contoller or is that related to the problem above?
The iphone and my ipod work fine with this version of itunes on Windows 7 on my laptop.  is it possible that I am missing a critical update from Microsoft on the driver and USB controller?  I have been leery of installing them since my computer had problems with some updates in January.
I 've tried every thing listed in this forum, I think, and the Apple support page on this subject.  Please help!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • TS1363 Updated to iTunes to latest version 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8 machine.  iTunes no longer recognizes my 5th Gen Ipod.  It does however recognize my 80gb Ipod Video.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as directed (twice) & rebooted pc. no luck.

I just updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 (as the pop up directed me to) on my Windows 8 machine. As a result iTunes will no longer recognize my 5th generation Ipod Nano (yes two).   I receive a pop up saying "Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly"   I've followed the recommendations seveal times: a) disconnected and reconnected. b) rebooted computer c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes d) tried different cables e) tried different USB porst f) rebooted Ipod.... the window keeps popping up like a middle finger (you get the point)
iTUnes WILL however,  recognize my 4th gen Nano and my 80gb Video (classic) without problem
Needless to say, I'm frustrated and ticked off over all of this wasted time.
    Anyone solved this issue yet?
    Any good suggestions?
    Please advise
    Kindest regards,

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • Windows 7 64bit no longer recognizes my iPod as of iTunes 10

So as of 3 iTunes updates ago, which would be iTunes 10, my computer with windows 7 64bit no longer recognizes my iPod clickwheel, telling me the device has malfunctioned.. which it hasn't it works just fine with my windows XP pro machine. I tried updating the ipod's drivers and that didn't work, since the drivers are up to date for it.

Looks like the USB Driver is gone. Windows doesn't seem to recognize the iPod touch.

  • My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.

My computer no longer recognizes my iPod Touch. And the iPod Touch does not recognize that it is connected to a computer.  It has worked great for many days until today.
I’ve tried two different Apple cables.
I’ve tried different USB ports on the computer.
I have rebooted both the Mac and the iPod.
I’ve wiggled the cables and checked for dust in the connectors.
The iPod charges using this same cable connected to wall wart.  That’s a good sign.
Both the Mac and iPod seem to work fine separate from each other.  They just won’t talk anymore.
    Mac mini
    1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo
    OS 10.4.11
    iTunes 9.2.1
    iPod Touch 32GB, version 3.1.3 (7E18), model PB533LL

I found this possible solution on another support thread, so I tried it.
    turn off iPod
hold Sleep and Home buttons to start it.
When Apple appears, let go of Sleep button, but keep holding Home button.
When screen goes blank, let go of Home button.
Connect cable and check iTunes to see if it has conencted.
This did not work for me.
I then turned off the iPod, restarted the Mac, and restarted the iPod normally.
I connected them with the cable, and it works like normal.  :-)

    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
    Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My pc no longer recognizes my ipod.  What can I do

My pc will no longer recognize my ipod touch.  I looked in my computer not there.  ITunes does not see it either.  However, when I unplug it from my pc I get the usual sound of hardwear being disconnected.  Any ideas on how to get my pc to see my IPod?

Try putting it on Recovery mode then restore it..
Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
Screen goes black, now release the power button
Make sure you do not release the Home key until
your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch
    in recovery mode."
After this its simple all you
got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes
