SCJP 1.4 - Java Certification Free Training Centre

Hi,
JavaCertificate.com is a web site that will help you prepare for your Sun Java 1.4 certification. If you are already a Sun certified Java programmer then you can still refresh your knowledge by challenging yourself with one of our 300 different mock exams.
We are providing a free certification centre that monitors your progress over time. Each Java objective can be tested individually and your faults can be tested until you understand the study material. The certification centre enables you to select questions and build your own mock exam. Each mock exam covers the nine objectives and has the same number of questions as the real examination.
Javacertificate.com has been voted by about.com as "Best of the Net" after 2 weeks launch of the web-site.
The Java Certificate team wishes you good luck!

Thanks.0) The exam will be very substantially unchanged AFAIK.
    1) Compare the topics in your book compared to topics on the exam webpage. If you see any differences ... then you may need to do a little more research. Its quite normal for for exams to get an update from time to time, and often books can be less than up to date.
    2) This thread covers the typical sort of detail changes to expect.
    3) Does the book have a website where updates/errata are known? Look there.
    4) There may be a couple note either in blogs.oracle.com/certification especially wrt the prometric to peason vue transition or the oracle to sun transition. I have other things to do in my life to search for this, espeically when the train i was to catch train decided to expire itself in a tunnel. This is probably a java software fault.

  • Java certification on platform 1.4

are there any books available to study for the SUN CERTIFIED PROGRAMMER FOR THE JAVA 2 PLATFORM 1.4.
    Exam number: CX-310-035.

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased a java certification voucher against cash payment, but the centre from where I had purchased it didn't gave me any receipt for that. Now I am wondering if this is ok or I may face some problem afterwards when I go to the prometric center for getting registered.
I am absolute novice so please tell me what should I do? Also suggest me which certification should i opt for : the scjp for java 2 platform or the scjp for java 2 platform(v1.4).
    Thanks in advance,

  • Java certification

Hai all. I have just finished sitting for my certification exam and passed with high marks. I have one study guide that I wrote myself for the exam. I can give to you if you need it.
    bye.

I think certifications are good things. There might even be a good debate about whether programming should try to become a more "professional" profession and only allow trained, certified practitioners, but that's another thread.
Having obtained a couple of Java certifications, they're like most degrees and courses. Once you have them, nobody much cares about what grades you got or how many of them you have. They base their impressions on one fundamental question: "Can you do this for me RIGHT NOW?" If you can, you're smart. If you can't, you've either got to learn quickly or fail. All the degrees and certifications in the world only help to the extent to which they equip you to learn new things.
I like knowing things at the bottom if I can, so I went back and took fundamental computer science courses at the start of my programming career. I didn't want to be a "learn VB in 21 days" kind of software guy. I wanted to know about algorithms and data structures and finte automata and decomposition and relational databases. I wanted to minimize the chances that I'd be scorned for not knowing the basics. I still read technical material as widely as I can.
I think that's been more important than my Java certifications. - MOD

  • Oracle Learning Management - Training Centre Record Groups

    Hi there,
I'm trying to find out where in the database OLM stores the correct "Training Centre" information, which makes up the drop-dowm select list (LOV) on the "Maintain Class" form.
I have had a look at the Java Source code and there is a record group pointer Training_CenterRG.
I don't know J-Developer to debug this and find the base table information.
When the class was created there was no "centre" cretaed in the ota_events table.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Michael.

Oracle Learning Management (OLM) is the new release of Oracle Training Administration (OTA). There are many different versions of OTA and OLM, and there are major differences in the functionality available and the way content is organized. This cannot be explained in a few lines, you have to read the manuals and the delta documents.
A good place to start would be : "Learning Management: Upgrading from Oracle Training Administration", id= 308352.1 on Metalink.

  • Hi Friends about JAVA Certification

    Hello Firends,
I know abap a little. Now iam interested to do SCJP( SUN CERTIFIED JAVA PROGRAMMING) is these fields are in same tract or different tract.
Is it help full for ABAP.

I asked a similar question a week or so ago, and this is the general answer I got:
If you are a current student in high school or college, no. If you study object oriented languages like C++ and Java during school and you're in your early/mid twenties when you graduate, 99% chance you'll have multiple job offers before you've actually received your diploma.
If you've never studied computers before or are just now picking up Java, then Sun Certification will carry some weight with employers because it will show your dedication and ability to code. However, my current employer is more interested in workers who have some knowledge of many different related areas (HTML, Java, scripting languages, for example) rather than an employee who is a master of a single area.
    Some food for thought

  • The future of Java certifications

What will be the future of Sun java certifications will
    1.Name changed?
    2. Cost?
    3.Syllabus? etc.....
will be the same .Please tell me from where i get those to read....
    Thnx....

    http://www.sun.com/training/certification/beta_scjp_plus.xml
The Sun Java Programmer Plus certification beta will launch on March 1, 2010 and run for approximately 10 days.
Q: Why should I take the performance exam? I am already certified as a Java Programmer.
A: The benefit to the Programmer is the ability to update current skills and practically demonstrate those skills in addition to knowledge. The performance exam provides current employers with the confidence that an employee has the problem solving skills they need on a day to day basis, using Java to design and develop applications effectively.
Q: Will this exam replace the current Java Programmer exam?
A: Sun believes that performance based Java Programming certification provides both candidates and employers with greater assurance that their skills will meet the needs of the Java Programmer role. Sun will retire the prior versions of the Java Programmer certification in the near future. Sun will provide a public notification of at least 90 days in advance of any exam retirement.

  • Java Certification Qusetion

Thanks in advance for any help
I eventually want to obtain Java Certification. I have a good book from which I am teaching myself. I took some classes back in college but I plan to take more courses once I feel confident enough that I have a more complete understanding of the language. I was wondering would it be a good idea to buy a Java certification book and focus my training around the topics presented in the book, or continue with my current book, doing examples from the book, making modifications and creating my own simple programs.
    Thanks!

    I would do the following,
    1. Read a good book on Java covering major topics in
Java but only those topics which fall within the
topics needed for certification for the simple
reason Java is a very vast langauge. So if I am a
started I would not go for advanced topics like
RMI, EJB, JDBC, Netwroking etc if I am trying only
for the basic certification i.e. 1st level
    2. I would surely write simple programs modifying
the sample code as you are doing.
    3. Once I am confident on the topics I would switch
over to a Sun certification book to focus/concentrate
just on the topics and the questions types which
are relevant and that "could be asked" during the
    exams.

  • Java Certification Tips Anyone ??

    Hi there,
I am learning java and plan to give the exam for Sun certified java programmer. If any of you have already done this I would like some tips towards preparing for the exam.
I am planning to buy the book on java certification by Roberts, Heller & Ernest. Is this a good enough reference or do I need something more.
Also I would like to know whether certification really helps in the job market, before you have completed your graduation. I raside in India and am doing a Bachelors degree in Computer Applications.
I recently heard some people say that java is becoming obsolete. Is this true, and what are its implications for yhose who get a java certificaion.
Thanks for any help in advance
    - rdg

Personally I think that the Sun certification program is one of the few certs in the market that actually still holds some value to it. The lack of "boot camp" type training programs has helped this out a whole lot. Unlike other certifications, having the sun certs should give you a slight edge in the market... whereas certs like MCSE, MCSD, etc don't count much for you if you have 'em, but if you don't it looks bad.
Anyway... reading books is good. Read them through a couple of times. While the exams aren't extremely expensive, just make sure you take the time to know everything before you even attempt it once. If there's something you don't quite understand, go online and research as much as you can until you do. There's tons and tons of information out there freely available... take advantage of it.
