  • SCM2007 upgrade error in SHDINST_CPY phase of PREPARE in MSCS

    Dear all,
we're trying an experimental upgrade from SCM5.0 to SCM2007 on an MSCS cluster (sql server rdbms on a separate cluster).
Currently the SCM5.0 is installed on a multi-SID cluster, with ASCS only in HA, 2 standalone enqueue replicators on the 2 nodes, CI and DIA on the 2 nodes, exacttly as of the manual, and it worked great so far.
Now we're trying to upgrade this clustered SCM instance to SCM2007, and
the upgrade is stuck in SHDINST_CPY phase of PREPARE, with the error:
SEVERE ERROR: copy of O:\usr\sap\put\bin\NTINSTASCS.PFL failed
In fact, the file above (ASCS profile template) doesn't exist in the put folder.
Tried the PREPARE twice, by using a new empty put folder and fresh upgrade media, same result.
So far very little or no support from SAP.
Any hints will be sincerely appreciated.
    Franco.

Hmm, thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't apply to our case.
Here you see out UpgDialog file with all the events registered. Apart of the error: ERROR: RFC of "subst_get_uvers" failed. (DDIC was locked before), to me it seems pretty clean.

The PREPARE module Import will be started now.
During this module programs, structures, and table entries
required by PREPARE are imported (the socalled "tool import").
Note: This can cause a loss of performance in R/3
In rare cases, a concurrent transport via the transport directory
may disturb the tool import. Please avoid any concurrent import
    during this PREPARE module.

  • SCM / APO forum on upgrade

    Hi All,
Just to moot a proposal for new forum on SCM or APO upgrade
There are forums for ECC & CRM upgrades
For APO, we have few threads & a good wiki on newer versions
    Are there no upgrades happening
    Moderators & Guru's please share & enlighten
    Acceval team

    Hi Andre,
There can be a number of transitional steps to move from SCM with liveCache to ERP/SCM on HANA. The bottom line is that liveCache becomes part of the HANA database so there is no need for a separate liveCache server. SCM on HANA is generally available now. See SAP Note 1825703. I believe the following steps are representative. You'll have to consult with your SAP representative for the exact details.
Steps -> SCM w/ LC -> SCM w/ LC and HANA -> SCM w/ HANA -> SCM on ERP w/ HANA
You don't have to go through each step. I'm not sure when the consolidated ERP/SCM on HANA will be GA.
    Best Regards,
    Mike

  • SCM Upgrade.

    Hello Experts,
Currently, we are on SCM 5.0 & would be moving to latest version. I hope he latest version in SCM 7.0 & new EHP 1 has been released (correct me if I am wrong).
As it would be the first upgrade for me, can you please throw light on major points which should be considered.
I have few concerns, how Z- reports, Live Cache & ICH. would be impacted ? Please let me know if you have more question.
    Regards
    Rahul Chitte

    Hi
First of all, yes EHP1 has been released.
Secondly there are two very good threads that discuss a lot of aspects of Upgrades to SCM 7 on the forum:
    [Upgrade to SCM 7.0;
    [SCM 5.1 / SCM2007 Upgrade;
It is worth reading through those first which may answer quite a few of your questions.
    Regards
    Ian

  • UC - Upgrade

    Hello All,
In media list for upgrade to SCM 5.0 from SCM 4.1
Following DVDs are mentioned for upgrade master.
    1> SAP SCM 5.0 SR2 UC-Upgrade Master Solaris on SPARC 64bit
2> SAP SCM 5.0 SR2 Upgrade Master Solaris on SPARC 64bit
Which one we should select if we are going to upgrade a unicode system (SCM 4.1)  to SCM 5.0
    Regards,
    Tushar

If your system is already on unicode, you need to use the Unicode kernel

  • CIF of material classification data

    Dear Experts,
Since a recent technical upgrade to our systems, I have seen a change in behavior of the integration of material classification data from ECC to SCM.  Before the upgrade, classification data transferred with the initial CIF of the material.   If material classification did not exist on the ECC material at the time the material was added to a new integration model and activated, we "missed the boat" so to speak.  Classification would not automatically transfer (CIF) to APO when if finally was loaded in ECC, even if the application area/integration models were correct.   As a work-around, we would be forced to generate and activate a material model that specifically excluded the material, then generate and activate another material integration model that included it again.  Then the classification would transfer.
After the upgrade, the opposite condition is true, the "initial CIF" of the material will not transfer material classification data at all, it will only transfer if the classification data is added/changed after the material itself is transferred to APO.  As a work around for this, if the classification data is already (correctly) loaded in ECC at the time of the initial material CIF, we are changing the status of the material classification from 1 to 3 and back to 1, just to trigger a change, then the classification is transferred instantly to APO.
Are there configuration settings that will allow material classification data to CIF in both cases: with the initial CIF of the material to SCM and also in the event of a change and/or addition of classification data in ECC?  Thanks for any advice you can provide.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

    Dear Matt,
What you are looking for is achieved by downloading the customizing objects from R/3 to SRM.
This is a must before you download materials/services from R/3 to SRM.
    Customizing objects are 4:
DNL_CUST_BASIS3 - This takes care of Basis settings in SRM for downloading.
DNL_CUST_PROD0 - This takes care of Material number conversions from R/3 to SRM.
DNL_CUST_PROD1 - This CO actually brings matl groups from R/3 to SRM as product categories.
The result you can see in trx COMM_HIERARCHY (not in COMMPR01 which is for materials/services.
There in R3MATCLASS you can see replicated and locally crated prod categories
and in R3PRODSTYPE you can see the material typs from R/3
DNL_CUST_SRVMAS - This takes care of Customizing: Service Master
The transaction for this is R3As in SRM
and you can monitor the same through R3AM1.
also you can check QRFC of R3 and SRM with SMQ1 and SMQ2.
The next step after this is material/service downloading from R/3 which is done with the same trx R3AS but business objects
    Material and
    Service_master
You can set fileter in trx R3AC1 for this.

Except for the "small" fact that we cannot init the LC, the sapdb system seems to run just fine ... hmmm
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Jan

    Hello Jan Bronee,
During a SCM 7.0 SR1 upgrade of the system SCM 5.1 the you will be asked to run the liveCache upgrade. During the SCM 5.1 liveCache upgrade to the lSCM 7.0 liveCache will be initialized as it was pointed in the SCM 7.0 guide.
As you saw in the link provided by you the "COM libraries changelist mismatch" occurred, SAPTREX library has different CL number and may be not compatible.
    =>
I recommend to create the SAP message to take a look closer on this issue.
Use SAP Note 1495739 to update the liveCache,
SAP liveCache Technology Release Information: SCM 7.0 [original link is broken]
What do you mean "the sapdb system seems to run just fine ... hmmm"?
Was you able to run the liveCache initialization to finish the liveCache upgrade before to run the upload liveCache data steps?

  • Livecache 7.6

    Hi,
Is it mandatory to have a SCM 5.0 to have Livecache 6?
In earlier releases, LC could be upgraded without upgrading the SCM system.
    Please let me know.
Thank you everybody for the help.

    Hello Sume,
SAP liveCache 7.6 is supported for SAP APO 5.0 within SAP SCM 5.0.

  • SCM 5.1 Implementation Project, Upgrade Project

    Hello,
Is any one working on SCM 5.1 Implementation or upgrade Projects..
If you are doing SCM 4.0 to SCM 5.1 upgrade what are the Delta changes you have observed for DP, SNP , PPDS, GATP modules?

    i suppose its called SCM2007
you can find the help file for this in help.sap.com
you can also find the release restrictions and release notes for SCM 2007
    not sure of active customers
the release date is 31/08/07 as per the PAM
i think it wouldve been beta tested for the last 6 months at least
one might fond some customer specific SCM 2007 notes and that might give an idea of the customers who are using it - nestle/ HP??.... am guessing

  • Upgrading from SCM 4.1 to SCM 2007/5.1 (HP-UX/MaxDB)

Here's my  challenge - I need to upgrade an SCM 4.1 system (HP-UX IA64 11.23/MaxDB 7.5) to SCM2007/5.1.  From what I can see in the Product Availability Matrix, SCM2007/5.1 requires MaxDB 7.7.  What I need to know is how and when should the MaxDB database and liveCache be upgraded from 7.5 to 7.7 (or 7.5 > 7.6 > 7.7).  I've tried to run PREPARE on the first system we wanted to test the upgrade on, but it fails with the following hard error: "ERROR: MaxDB Version is not supported by this upgrade.  ERROR: Error in database software path determination (ERR -10)".  This leads me to believe I need to upgrade the database before upgrade upgrading the application, yet I can't seem to find this requirement documented in any of the SCM upgrade guides.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

    Hi Kaushik
just a little input about funtional DP (not sure of system architectural improvements) :
I dont think performance would drastically improve per se
the areas that might be of some impact/ use in terms of performance are -
    - parallel processing profiles
    - macro improvements
    - changes in Admin Workbench (BW 7 functionality might make things easier)
    - changes in Planning area (no negatives for eg can help remove macros that used to do that function making it easier)
The important improvements are in more functionality
Its recommended to do some better process and layout deisgns to get performance improvements
pl note, there would be an initial long run time the first time you perform any transaction because of indexes being created

  • Error during Upgradation SCM 5.0 to SCM 5.1 Non-Unicode System

    Hi,
I am Upgrading SCM 5.0 Non-Unicode System to SCM 5.1 Non-unicode on Windows 2003 Server with MSS 2005 DB. During the initial PREPARE (EXTRACTKRN_PRE) phase I am getting an error like

    SEVERE ERROR(S) OCCURRED IN EXTRACTKRN_PRE !!!
The file name it is looking for does not exist in any of the Kernel versions I have checked. If I try to skip this step it is asking for the PASSWORD. How can I get this password? (only from SAP Support or any note?).
What is the Solution for the above ERROR. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

    > I am not posting the question in the same group. I am posting in different groups due the confusion of in which group to post > > and of course to get faster response. All people cant check all the groups to answer. Moreover I am not keeping the questions > open. As soon as I get the answer I am proving the answer in every group and immediately closing the question.
    > So what is the problem with that? I do not think this is creating any inconvenience to any one, just increasing the number of questions in the group.
This is not wanted as written in the "Rules of engagement". This is a public forum, not a "help desk".
    > OK, As you said If I post only in a single group do you guarantee that you will check every time all the groups to answer my question/ find my question?
Again, this is a forum where the question are answered on a volunteered basis. "Demanding" help is not the way to go, you can ask for help but there's no guarantee that you'll get an answer. If you urgently need help use the official support channels or get yourself a consultant on-site who can answer all your question instantly.
    > And please paste the URL of those rules that this is wrong. Since I didnt read that.
It's the first entry in every forum, it contains the "Rules of Engagement" which say:
    Please do not Cross post.
Post your question in the most appropriate forum; not multiple forums. This is bad netiquette and will might only aggravate potential repliers.
Just imagine if everyone like you would paste questions in several forums.

  • Upgrade from SCM 5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1 (with NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1)

    Hi folks,
we are trying to upgrade our SCM5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1. There seems to be a problem in the phase, where SAPup is trying to detect the needed CDs / DVDs. SAPup recognizes that "FRP" is used within the system. There appears a dialog to enter the mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.
It says <<Enter at least the mount point for the DVD titled "FRP Software DVD">>. All other needed media is accepted, but not the DVD with the FRP-Software.
SAP Note "1300960"  explains, that as of SAP Business Suite 2008 onward, no media without a MID.XML file will be accepted for upgrades (e.g. media containing Add-Ons).
I have opended a message to SAP Support, but there is no solution / workaround until now. I cannot skip the phase and therefore it is not possible to launch / continue the entire upgrade.
SAPup Version is "7.10/7, build 31.010 for UNICODE"
Has anyone faced the same problem with no-MID.XML based media?
    Thank you for any advice!
    Kind regards,
    Marcel Jentsch

    Hi,
We just upgraded from SCM 5.0 to 7.0 sp9.
You need not deactivate the DP planning areas before upgrade.
We did not face any issues because of this.

    Ashok
