Hi Farooqui
Since this Forum handling more application related topic, it is better to post your question in different Forum "MaxDB/liveCache ".
Above MaxDB/liveCache is handling more basis and liveCache related topic.
As a general information, SAP provides following documens that describe task and check point related to SCM system and liveCache. So I recommend you to check following 3 documents.
URL : http://service.sap.com/solutionmanagerbp
Number
44            System Monitoring for SAP APO (3.x) / mySAP SCM (4.x/5.0)
34            Monitoring and Administration for SCM / APO
42            Checklist for Recovery of SAP APO liveCache >= 7.4
Also there are some documents that describe liveCache behavior, so for better understanding,
I also recommend you to check following 2 documents. (The information is bit old. but it might be helpful to understand liveCache).

  • APO and LiveCache Optimization

    Hi All,
Can anyone share some points to optimize APO and liveCache, like best practices, system configurations to improve the performance of our system?
We would appreciate your response and inputs.
    Regards,
    Philip Lledo

    Hi Philip,
There are definitely few things that you can check in your system -
Make sure for every long job execution step you have enough buffer left in your storage space. Monitor storage quality and determine how often it should be executed. Also avoid any locks for long time in SM12.
You may consider using external parallel processing profile (divide one big job into several jobs) for the job, which takes long run time. Find optimal package size by increasing value like 150, 200…you can do some experiment to find a better combination for your parallel processing profile. Like, Increase the number of parallel processing. i.e. 15, 20…and try to find optimal block size by reducing value like 250, 125, 60.. in your QA system. Also consider applying Note 1359613 - SNP Optimizer: Parallel processing is slow.
Check the current spool list in your job logs. See if you really need the entire spool or you can reduce the volume of the spool file or stop creating spool file as applicable.
Make sure your Load balancing for RFC is set properly in your APO System, analyze the current situation by taking help from your Basis team.
Check the RFC recourse utilization in every server path/instance. There should not be any scenario, where one instance is used almost in full, while there are many free work processes on other instances. The reason for this is that there is no load balancing defined in your APO system. There is a SAP note 593058 for more details to set the load balancing within the server group.
You can do some experiment in your optimizer profile (if you are using SNP/Deployment optimizer for planning) in QA system- In your optimizer profile, try to reduce the value of ‘Maximum Runtime’ and checked. You should consider the quality of result of the optimizer run here. Then decide if this is an option at all.
Also you may consider to reduce the horizon for your optimizer run, if applicable. May be you don’t need to run the optimizer for full planning horizon, if you are not really publishing for full horizon. Also consider to reduce your no of buckets in the planning horizon if possible, Like you don’t need to have all the daily bucket in the horizon, may be first month in daily bucket. You can determine planning horizon in the variant.
Remove any inconsistencies in LC every day after executing the report and make sure to resolve all the inconsistencies before executing major planning job. Also Monitor post processing record regularly and process them accordingly.
By checking/doing all the above, you should get some pointers.
    Thanks,
    Satyajit

  • SCM, APO and EWM

    Hi Experts,
My apology if I'm posting this on the wrong category.
I'd like to ask for SAP SCM (APO, EWM etc) if its a separate installation like with SAP ECC or it can be added as one of the components for SAP ECC?
    Cheers,
    R-jay

    Hi R-Jay,
SAP SCM Applications are separate installations like SAP ECC or SAP CRM  software applications .
Within SAP SCM also there are separate licensing requirements for APO, EWM, EM, SNC applications.
For SAP EWM and EM, SAP ECC add on option is available,  however,  the licenses for  EWM, EM will be seperate than thoseof ECC.

  • Client concept for SAP SCM APO and SAP TM

    Hello,
We are installing SAP SCM APO 5.1 (SNP, gATP, DP) and SAP TM 7.0 (ramp up). Both connect via CIF  to ECC 6.0 SP3. As far as my knowledge goes for CIF, both master data and transactional data is exchanged via CIF.
In ECC we have a three client concept:
    100 customizing only
200 customizing + master data (golden client)
300 customizing + master data + transaction data
Can we use a similar model for TM and SCM APO as well? Should we then only connect ECC-300 to TM-300 and ECC300 to SCM-300 via CIF?
I have also heard that also some ECC customizing is transferred via CIF to SCM/TM. Is that true and does that change this model?
    Regards,
    Rob Veenman
    SAP Basis.

    Rob,
As a general rule of thumb, for each ECC client you will probably want an SCM client.  From your landscape description, it is not clear to me in which clients you perform the everyday functions of development/test/production, but I guess you have already worked that out.  Without knowing exactly how you manage your environment, I will say that it is probably a good idea to have active CIF connections between each of the three pairs of clients.  Once you have set up a single connection between your first pair (ECC/SCM), you will find that setting up the second and third is pretty trivial.
Yes, quite a bit of ATP configuration can be CIFd across.  Typically, you do this one time, and then lock the transfer of config out (there is a config setting in SCM to stop further transfer of config).  From that point forward, any config that must be parallelled in both systems is usually done manually in both systems.  Notable exceptions are Factory Calendars, units of measure, and Fiscal Periods, which can be pulled across from ECC to SCM any time you want via standard program.

  • Interfaces R3 - SCM APO with qrfc

    Hi,
We have some interfaces from  R3 to  SCM APO system  which actually runs with tRFC.
We want to change it to a qRFC scenario.
I've configured queues and systems as documentation
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm41/helpdata/en/13/747b3704716066e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
But nothing has change in our interfaces.
    Queues are not used.
I have no experience in SCM APO and i don't what is wrong or what step is missing.
    Could you help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    S.

    Sara,
Keep reading that help doc, into the subsequent sections.  You have to generate and activate Integration models, which will specify exactly why type of data will be exchanged, and which individual records.  Start with transaction CFM1.
If any of your master data changes, then you generally need to re-generate and re-activate your IMs each time.  Many people commit these to periodic jobs.

  • Desinger fom SCM (APO) infocube.

    Hi all,
I'm using BOBJ Enterprise 3.1 and Integration kit 3.1.
I tried to extract data from info cube from SAP SCM (APO) and i can't see any data.
Anybody knows if BOBJ can extract from SCM infocube or only from SAP BW? Or maybe an documentation with explanation about how to do this loads...
    Thansks in advice,
    Ralph

    Hi Sai,
When you are creating CVCs from infocube, please make sure that the input  values in the selection screen of the transaction for creating CVCs are correct:
    1. Version in the selection screen is existing in infocube. This is the version in the infocube and not in the DP PA.
    2. Secondly, date from and to fields need to be correct  and matching with the same in the infocube
    3. Check if clicking  "Number of Hits' on the selection screen ,  gives you the no. of CVCs which would get created.
Only if you see here number, then program will create CVCs in the DP PA.
    Please check and confirm.

  • APO Shared LiveCache

    Hi
Can anyone from the forum help me to understand the below points.
1.if a test instance of LiveCache can be shared with multiple APO systems and what would be involved to set it up?
2.would it make sense to share APO systems (i.e., connect a single APO and LiveCache to multiple ERP systems).
    Appreicate for quick response.

    Hi Devi,
Do you have a specific business case for point no 2? I have newer seen such a implementation. It should be possible though by maintaining appropriate distribution definitions.

  • SCM Installation and Administration.

    Hi All,
My next project is to install SCM 7.0 and LiveCache and to administrate the same. I have already worked in ECC 6.0 and SRM 5.0. As a SAP Basis administrator, I need to know what are the activities i should know in regards to SCM & LiveCache administration.
Can somebody help me in thig regards and list down the activities which SAP Basis person should be knowing in SCM Environment.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    Thanks for reply
I am confused in SCM & Live cacache post installation activity. Please help me to clear out following doubts
    1) As per SCM Inst. guide 7.0 SR1, post installation activity "5.13BI-Specific Post-Installation Steps", We need to do client copy and BI specific.
    2) In the Same guide there is a activity "5.17Performing the Client Copy".
    3) In Live 7.7 cache inst. guide, post installation activity "5.1.1Setting Up the Connection to the liveCache Instance".
I have gone through these two guides. Please clear out following doubts.
    1) As per SCM Inst. guide , Do we need separate client for BI-Specific activity and one more client for other acivity. OR we should have only one client for BI-Specific and SCM Specific activyt. So DO we required two separate clients ?. OR there always only one Production client in SCM system ?
    2) As per LiveCache inst. Guide, in the post installation activity we need to set up a connection. Is this connection to above mentioed BI-Specific client or other production client.?
I am little confused. Please reply.
    Thanks

  • [Beginner:] Incorporation of ECC, BI and SCM APO Inquiries

    Hi All,
I would like to seek your help on something I am working on. We have this supplies procurement planning tool that I was helping to create. Our general objective is to create a tool that will give a forecast of supplies that people need to procure from a facility for the future months. I am under BI and I am wondering on the basics regarding BI and SCM APO data flows. Honestly, I am still clueless on this. I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way? Are data from ECC considered as well?
Hoping to hear lots of advises on this. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge to a newbie like me.

    Saging,
Hmmm.  It seems a bit odd to be creating a 'forecasting-of-material-procurement' tool, when SAP has so many already built in, either within ERP or within APO.  Oh well, I am sure there must be a good reason.
I have seen from our systems that most loads come from APO going to BI. Is it always that way?
BI type data can come from any source.  The most common BI solutions I have seen is where BI data are extracted from the main ERP.  However, the beauty of BI is that it doesn't care, SAP builds in functionality to get data from anywhere.
Are data from ECC considered as well?
They can be if you design it so.
You should be aware that most data existing in ERP that are relevant for material planning also usually exist in APO.  The Core Interface between ERP and APO is normally set up to natively replicate substantial quantities of Master data and also transactional data.  It may be that in your business environment, you really don't need to connect to anything other than APO.  However, this is not a limitation of BI, it is just smart programming to try to minimize the number of sources of your data.

  • Difference between APO and SCM

    Hello All,
        I am new to SAP...
Can somebody tell me the difference between SAP APO and SAP SCM.....
    Regards,
    Mary

    Hi,
SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (APO) is the planning component of mySAP SCM, the supply chain management solution provided by SAP.
SAP APO is used to make strategic, tactical and operational decisions and supports you in performing the following planning activities:
    Demand Planning (DP)
    Supply Network Planning (SNP)
    Production Planning (PP)
    Detailed Scheduling (DS)
    Deployment
    Transport Load Builder (TLB)
Transport Planning and Vehicle Scheduling (TP/VS)
    Global Available-to-Promise (gATP)
SAP's endeavor into the advanced planning solution market was with the name SAP APO. There are other APS solutions in the market from Oracle, Manugistics, i2 and a whole host of other companies providing specialized planning solutions
Over the years SAP has brought the SAP APO solution under a wider umbrella called SAP SCM. Since version 4.0 of APO it has been called SAP SCM. So in the release strategy of SAP you will find SAP APO 3.1 followed by SAP SCM 4.0
SAP SCM is a more complete solution that covers planning, networking, coordinating and execution. In addition to SAP APO, which is still the core of SAP SCM, there are other applications such as SNC (Supplier Network Collaboration - erstwhile ICH), SCEM (Event Management), EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) and SPP (Service Parts Planning)

  • SCM-APO, SAP APO on SAP ERP

hi does anyone have detailed information how this works eg
what happens to the livecache in the traditional SCM APO system
and overvie presentation will be good
    thanks
    Andre Cronje

    Hi Andre,
There can be a number of transitional steps to move from SCM with liveCache to ERP/SCM on HANA. The bottom line is that liveCache becomes part of the HANA database so there is no need for a separate liveCache server. SCM on HANA is generally available now. See SAP Note 1825703. I believe the following steps are representative. You'll have to consult with your SAP representative for the exact details.
Steps -> SCM w/ LC -> SCM w/ LC and HANA -> SCM w/ HANA -> SCM on ERP w/ HANA
You don't have to go through each step. I'm not sure when the consolidated ERP/SCM on HANA will be GA.
    Best Regards,
    Mike
