SCM-APO, SAP APO on SAP ERP

hi does anyone have detailed information how this works eg
what happens to the livecache in the traditional SCM APO system
and overvie presentation will be good
thanks
Andre Cronje

Hi Andre,
There can be a number of transitional steps to move from SCM with liveCache to ERP/SCM on HANA. The bottom line is that liveCache becomes part of the HANA database so there is no need for a separate liveCache server. SCM on HANA is generally available now. See SAP Note 1825703. I believe the following steps are representative. You'll have to consult with your SAP representative for the exact details.
Steps -> SCM w/ LC -> SCM w/ LC and HANA -> SCM w/ HANA -> SCM on ERP w/ HANA
You don't have to go through each step. I'm not sure when the consolidated ERP/SCM on HANA will be GA.

  • SAP SCM and SAP APO: Best practices, tips and recommendations

    Hi,
I have been gathering useful information about SAP SCM and SAP APO (e.g., advanced supply chain planning, master data and transaction data for advanced planning, demand planning, cross-plant planning, production planning and detailed scheduling, deployment, global available-to-promise (global ATP), CIF (core interface), SAP APO DP planning tools (macros, statistical forecasting, lifecycle planning, data realignment, data upload into the planning area, mass processing u2013 background jobs, process chains, aggregation and disaggregation), and PP/DS heuristics for production planning).
I am especially interested about best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO. For example, [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 3.1.1|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700006480652001E] and [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 4.0|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000596412005E] contain pretty useful knowledge about CIF.
If you know any useful best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO, I would appreciate if you could share those assets with me.
Thanks in advance of your help.
    Regards,
    Jarmo Tuominen

    Hi Jarmo,
Apart from what DB has suggested. you should give a good reading on the following.
-Consulting Notes (use the application component filters in search notes)
-Collective Notes (similar to the one above)
    -Release Notes
    -Release Restrictions
-If $$ permit subscribe to www.scmexpertonline.com. Good perspective on concepts around SAP SCM.
-There are a couple of blogs (e.g. www.apolemia.com) .. but all lack breadth.. some topics in depth.
-"Articles" section on this site (not all are classified well.. see in ECCops, mfg, SCM, Logistics etc)
-Serivce.sap.com- check the solution details overview in knowledge exchange tab. There are product presentations and collaterals for every release. Good breadth but no depth.
-Building Blocks - available for all application areas. This is limited to vanilla configuration of just making a process work and nothing more than that.
-Get the book "Sales and Operations Planning with SAP APO" by SAP Press. Its got plenty of  easy to follow stuff, good perspective and lots of screen shots to make life easier.
-help.sap.com the last thing that most refer after all "handy" options (incl. this forum) are exhausted. Nevertheless, this is the superset of all "secondary" documents. But the maze of hyperlinks that start at APO might lead you to something like xml schema.
Key Tip: Appreciate that SAP SCM is largely driven by connected execution systems (SAP ECC/ERP). So the best place to start with should be a good overview of ERP OPS solution overview, at least at the significant level of depth.). Check this document at sdn wiki "ERP ops architecture overview".
I have some good collection of documents though many i havent read myself. If you need them let me know.

  • Distribution Planning within SAP - APO 3.0 or SCM 4.0

    Hi,
Can do any 'Distribution Planning' within SAP SCM V4.0 or V5.0.
We are trying to  improve  'decision-making' associated with selection of a particular warehouse  for shipments coming out of a specific plant. The application should be able to produce a recommended set of shipments by week from each plant. Critical inputs that go into the process will be (a) Procurement Forecast; (b) Production Forecast; (c) Warehouse Space; (d) Production Plan etc
Can this be done utilizing SAP APO 3.0, SCM 4.0 or SCM 5.0?
    Thanks

    Hi Tushar,
APO 3.0, SCM 4.0 nd SCM 5.0 all provide replenishment, distribution and deployement along with basic transportation planning functionalities wihin SNP (Suppluy Network Module) of APO. With SCM 5.0 you get other applications (along with APO) like EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) and better transportation planning features.
Moreover it makes sense to go in for the lastest version of the solution to get the latest set of features. Please check on help.sap.com under my SAP Business Suite >> SCM >> APO >> SNP or http://www.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/scm/featuresfunctions/index.epx for more details.
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports transport files for SAP APO / SCM

    Hi there,
Problem: we want to use Crystal Reports on top of SAP APO / SCM and have some difficulties getting the definitions of BW / OLAP servers right and don't know which transports to import on the SAP to report with Crystal.
System is a SAP SCM system with APO module. There is a cube in this module (because there is some internal BW system) and I can see the cube in Crystal Reports. When I want to report from this cube I get an error:
    "/CRYSTAL/MDX_GET_STREAM_INFO" not found.
This means some transport files were not imported and some functions are missing.
    The following transports are missing:
====quote from transports_EN.txt included in transports for Crystal Reports=====
The following files must be used on an SAP BW system:
    (These files are Unicode enabled.)
Content Administration transport (K900579.r21 and R900579.r21)
    Personalization transport (K900580.r21 and R900580.r21)
MDX Query Connectivity transport (K900581.r21 and R900581.r21)
ODS Connectivity transport (K900582.r21 and R900582.r21)
    ===========================================================
My SAP BASIS expert refuses to import these transports in SAP SCM, because he thinks it is not an SAP BW system as listed in the above transports_EN.txt file. Just trying is not an option because transports cannot be removed once imported...
In my opinion these transports have to be imported to clearly access the cube and will work on SAP SCM even if it's not a 'dedicated' SAP BW environment. In other words, these transports should be imported and will work on SAP OLAP servers like SAP BW, SAP SCM, SAP SRM (APO) or SAP SEM.
Does anyone of you have some more experience on reporting from SAP SCM / APO cubes and if I can import these transports without getting some nasty errors, because its not an SAP BW system?
    Kind regards!
Edited by: J. van de Mheen on Mar 3, 2009 4:21 PM

Thanks for your reply, but this is not helping me much.
    Let me explain more.
In the transport_EN.txt file we see this:
If your SAP system is running on a 6.20 *BASIS system* or later, you must use the files listed below:
    (These files are Unicode enabled.)
    * Open SQL Connectivity transport (K900574.r21 and R900574.r21)
    * Info Set Connectivity transport (K900575.r21 and R900575.r21)
    * Row-level Security Definition transport (K900576.r21 and R900576.r21)
    * Cluster Definition transport (K900585.r21 and R900585.r21)
    * Authentication Helpers transport (K900578.r21 and R900578.r21)
The following files must be used on an *SAP BW system*:
    (These files are Unicode enabled.)
    * Content Administration transport (K900579.r21 and R900579.r21)
    * Personalization transport (K900580.r21 and R900580.r21)
    * MDX Query Connectivity transport (K900581.r21 and R900581.r21)
    * ODS Connectivity transport (K900582.r21 and R900582.r21)
So I have to import 5 transports in SAP BASIS system and 4 transports in SAP BW system to make full use of the integration kit.
SAP SCM / APO is basically a BASIS system, so the BASIS expert says only those 5 transport have to be installed.
But SAP SCM / APO is also having some reporting capabilities and stores data in OLAP cubes (Infocubes).
In Crystal I can see these cubes when using SAP BW MDX connection.
To make the error go away, I must have some function modules used in transport 'MDX Query Connectivity transport. But the BASIS expert doesn't want to import this transport, because it is listed as a transport for a SAP BW system and he says SAP SCM / APO is NOT a SAP BW system (it's a BASIS system).
And now I have to get some proof that this transport has to be imported in the SAP SCM / APO BASIS system before he installs it...

  • Intra-company stock transfer between two ERP Systems without SAP APO

    Hi,
I'm looking for information regarding the scenario Intra-company stock transfer between two ERP Systems without SAP APO.
On help.sap.com, I can only find below image, but I'm actually looking for the configuration settings required to implement it.
Does anyone have experience with this scenario?
    Thanks & regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Jagdeep,
Thanks for the reply. I understand that I need to use iDocs and setup communication between both systems. What I am actually looking for is detailed information on the setup of the purchase order type and sales order type. Especially because there is no invoicing involved in this flow.

  • Whr should maintained a business system group in SAP APO

    hi gurus,
where should i maintain business system group in SAP APO
can u explain me, what is the process, how it will work, why need BSG in APO
    prasad

    Hi,
We maintain Business System Group in APO IMG.
IMG >> SCM Basis >>Integration >> Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape >> Maintai n Business System Group
In this IMG activity, we determine the assignment to a business system group of this system and the ERP systems that are to be connected. By doing this, you create areas with the same naming conventions. These guarantee that the same names are used for master data and also their synchronization in distributed system landscapes.
In addition to the ERP systems, this system too must be assigned to a business system group (BSG) as an independent logical system.
    Proedure :
    u2022     Choose New Entries.
u2022     On the New Entries: Overview screen, specify the following information for the business system group:
o     An alphanumerical key (maximum of 10 characters).
o     A description of your choice
    u2022     Save your entries.
    Example :
An SCM System is to be connected with the two ERP systems A and B in which two different materials (for example a hammer and a screw), have the same material number (100). The two materials are to be represented as two different products in the SCM system.
Assign The two ERP systems to different BSGs. Assign the SCM system to one of the two BSGs.
    u2022     ERP system A (material number 100 = hammer) -> BSG A
    u2022     ERP system A (material number 100 = screw) -> BSG B
    u2022     SCM system -> BSG A
    Hope this gives you insight.
    Regards
    Datta

  • What is the future of SAP APO?

Standard support for SAP APO which is a part of SAP SCM 7.0 will be stopped in 2025. After that, what will happen (apart from extended paid support) ? Which one of the following is correct?
New version of SAP SCM Powered by SAP HANA will replace SAP SCM 7.0. So, APO will not change much, though it will have added capabilities because of new SAP HANA platform.
Though SAP IBP is not a substitute SAP APO currently, it will have SAP APO capabilities as well in future and will eventually replace SAP APO.
SAP IBP will replace both SAP APO and SAP HANA based APO.
Even SAP didn’t plant that yet. It has not released a plan or road map yet. So, anything might happen.
Does S4HANA have planning functions? If yes, where will it stand in SAP’s portfolio of planning products, in future?
Kindly give links for more information along with your answers, if possible. Thanks.

    Ho Satheesh,
Below details are based on notes which I had written in the past and it may not be accurate.
As per my knowledge on SAP's new SCM Strategy, Integrated Business Planning solution comprises sales and operations Planning, Inventory Planning, Demand and Supply Planning. IBP(Integrated Business Planning solution) will not include GATP/PP-DS.  GATP will part of Logistics and order fulfillment and will be clubbed on ECC side.
SAP IBP will come with the speed of the SAP HANA platform and with/without SAP Cloud option.  Logistics and order fulfillment (ECC) track will focus on solutions in the areas - customer service, distribution and fulfillment and logistic network. Focus is definitely on end-to-end and advance visibility, tight integration/consolidation, real time planning/execution and analytics etc and HANA will be on the spotlight.
SAP definitely has a great vision and positive step forward for developing more integrated, technologically powerful and user-centric solution. Now they must execute on that vision to make it real, since they are many hurdles too - one of them current APO installed base.
SAP APO may still be required to support some operational and optimization features and but others areas/features of APO are expected to merge completely with ERP or IBP side or may be something else.
Standard support for APO will stop in 2020.  however extended support will be available beyond 2020 for 3-5 years period.
    Hope this will help.
    Thank you

  • SAP APO and WM

    Hello All,
Is it possible to put some warehouse related controls and limitations in SAP APO (SCM) without having EWM? For example, a certain warehouse can only process 300 orders and if anyone tries to place order beyond 300 then it automatically pushes the CGID to next day?
Second example can be on availability of truck? If the Truck leaves Warehouse only twice a day for a certain customer, then APO (SCM) automatically place the order on those two days?
    Thanks,
    Ali

    Ali
You might be able to get GATP to meet at least some of your requirements with some creative thinking and enhancements. Standard GATP does not consider warehouse (field is not transferred from ECC to GATP during the ATP check), so you would add that to the field catalog through an enhancement (relatively simple). You could then use Product allocation functionality to limit the warehouse to 300 orders per day. Standard product allocation functionality is based on order quantities, not number of orders, so you would need an enhancement to modify this behaviour (sounds simple, but you would have to explore).
I don't understand what you mean by 'CGID', but you could get GATP to commit material availability dates based on warehouse limitations (push out material availability date based on next available free 'slot' in the warehouse). As long as you run the delivery due list with a short (say 1 day) window, this might work.
Configurable Process Scheduling (CPS) functionality within GATP may also work for your requirement of 'truck leaving warehouse only twice a day to a certain customer' - using customer-specific condition tables for transportation activity calendar determination.
One thing to remember is that GATP works only on commit dates of Orders (Sales Orders/ Stock Transport Orders), it doesnt directly influence actual pick/ pack/ ship activities in the warehouse (it does affect warehouse operations indirectly .)

  • Need help on SAP APO

    Hi,
We are in process of evaluating SAP APO for one of our subsidiaries which is into computer AMC business.
I undersatand that SAP APO has a service part management module and i need some clarity on certain functionality aspects of the product, for example
    - Does SAP APO manage alternate part list?
    - Does it compute reorder level for spares and also can it provide ROL for multiple plant location
    - Does it compute ROL considering the Alternate Parts Availability?
    - Does the system consider spares reparability factor while planning for spares?
    - Does the spares planning logic modeled on consumption of spares or on some other logic?
We are currently on SAP R/3 ECC 6.0.
Standard MM & SD modules are used for the subsidiary in discussion.
FI is also used but posting is done only for few cases as it is under control of corporate Finance.
Thanking in advance for the responses.
    Regards,
    HRS

    Hi
I am also intrested to know about this. One of our client wants to implement SPP. At present they are in ECC 6.0.
Can any please share the information on SPP.
Now if they want to enter in to SCM system what are the other modules they have to implement along with SPP?
    Thanks in advance

  • SAP APO with SAP Retail

    Hi,
Can SAP APO be implemented with SAP ECC Retail, if yes..can article master data be CIFed to APO or do we need to set up material master data.
    Thanks
    Sharad

    Hi Sharad,
I have attached a link in which you can refer the document via the menupath
SAP solutions > SAP for Retail > Documentation for SAP Retail
    http://help.sap.com/
"SAP for Retail Master Guide" wherein it details the integrated environment with SAP ECC Retail with SCM.(Page 48 of 79) has the integration chart in it.
Regarding master data ciffing, if you have already established all master data in SAP R/3 system, then you can use CIF for transferring master data.

    hi,
SAP APO is for Demand Planning and is a component of mySAP SCM. It enables dynamic supply chain management and which in turn includes applications for detailed planning, optimization and scheduling, allowing the supply chain to be accurately and globally monitored even beyond enterprise boundaries.
Check the link for info on APO

  • SAP APO or SAP-PP?

I am in a decision making process of my industry scenario to map in SAP
    My scenario is as below
My sales regional heads input their requirement for 1 months in system as below
    Input is
    •     region(in SAP it is route destination)
    •     Qty
    •     Material number
    •     Selling price
    •     Period
Once they enter the data system should collect all the data from each regional and run a statistical calculation taken fast history and generate a unconstrained sales plan/regional for 18 months.
It will be passed to a optimizer where in we will put the following constraints
    •     Capacity of production line with respect to that material grade
    •     Selling price (from input data)
    •     Minimum allocation qty per region/Grade
    •     Customer grading ABC, A is good C is worst
    •     Inventory available in all region and production plant for that grade
    •     Net back that material can fetch
    •     One of the important sub assembly/intermediate material – availability for future months
    •     Grade change over loss in USD.
With the above constraint system should generate a region plan giving details of which material (grade wise) and qty
Second output is the production plan telling which grade how much to produce and when
Is it possible to do the above in normal SAP PP or we need to go for SAP SCM?

    Dear Ratan,
    thanks for the reply.
My question is the sceanrio given above is it possible to map in SAP APO or SAP PP...I tried...but only problem is the seling price and the capacity optimization.
Forecast, I could do it using Std SAP forcast methods...But during optimization i failing to understand how to do it... I prepared a Z program where in user will tick the check box on what basis with priority he wants the optimization...using LP. It is giving faairly okay results...but fully okay. Takes more than 2 hrs to compute the results which is not at all accptable...maximum 1/2 hr is okay and in foreground it is not working at all.
