  • Cloning an scm repository

Have cloned my live scm repository using cold backup and create control file command to rename it from scmdb to scmtest. However when I try and check out the top level containers in any share workarea I get a error message about the error stack being empty and the command fails.
Are there additional steps to let the repository know it has moved databases?

Unfortunately, the cleanest way is to do a sys-unconfig, drop a new sysidcfg in place, and modify any other required config files not covered by sys-unconfig.

  • Where I can find Oracle9i SCM Repository Installation Guide?

    Hi!
I've installed DS software. Now I want to start using Designer. Installation guide tell "Set up the repository as described in the Oracle9i SCM Repository Installation Guide". But I can't find such document in any place, including OTN.
In many places there is a link:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/designer/content.html
    but it doesn't work.
    Could anybody help me?

    Hi Leonid,
You can find this document in the following location. (I presume, that you are using windows.)
Start Menu -> Programs -> Oracle 9i Developer Suite -> Software Configuration Manager -> Oracle SCM Repository Installation Guide.

  • Issues With Xcode SCM Repository

I've set up an SVN server on an iMac running Leopard as well as enabled remote login so I can ssh into it. Then I imported my latest Xcode project. It's a Java-based project. On my MacBook Pro also running Leopard I checked out the project using Terminal, then opened it in Xcode and configured it to use the repository over ssh. The little green jewel said Authenticated so I thought everything was working. I set the correct repository in my project settings and then edited a file. Yet when I select any file in the project, just about everything in the SCM menu is greyed out. The three Commit/Refresh/Update Entire Project items are not, however they fail with the following error:
Error: 155005 (Working copy not locked; this is probably a bug, please report) Description: Commit failed (details follow):
Error: 155005 (Working copy not locked; this is probably a bug, please report) Description: Directory '/Users/lord_jeremy/XCode/Java RTS/trunk/Java RTS/build/Java RTS.build/Java RTS.pbxindex/strings.pbxstrings/.svn' containing working copy admin area is missing
I did a lot of google searching but I haven't found anything helpful. Is this a bug in Xcode 3.1.2 (the version I'm using)? If so, is it fixed in 3.2? I'd really prefer not to have to manage my project SVN via the command line,
    EDIT:
I just noticed the stuff in the Get Annotations For submenu also isn't greyed out. Selecting Latest in that menu gave me the following error:
    Error: 210005 (Couldn't find a repository) Description: No repository found in 'svn+ssh://[email protected]/Users/lord_jeremy/Projects/Repositories/SVN/trunk/Java2TS/src/G ame/Objects/MoveableObjectBase.java'
If you notice the path is .../trunk/Java2TS/... Is Xcode parsing some path somewhere incorrectly? I'm going to try reimporting the project without spaces in the name and see what happens.
Message was edited by: Jeremy A

I just noticed that for some reason the project is using an old path to my SVN repository. I recreated it and reimported the project but for some reason Xcode didn't realize that. I'm betting there's some little file somewhere that's causing my problem.

  • How to Use SCM (9iDS) with JDeveloper v3.2.3

We still have users that are required to use JDeveloper v3.2.3 (not authorized to install / upgrade applications - approval process for upgrade painfully slow)
To support them we have systems with both 9iDS and JDeveloper v3.2.3. The repository is on a Sun Solaris box (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.3.0). The repository is (Server) 4.0.12.88.2 and (Client) 3.0.19.0.0 with Repository Admin Utility 9.0.2.88.12.
The help instructions in JDev v3.2.3 are not clear on how to 'force' it to recognize the availability of the source control repository 'system'. It appears to that it expects a 6i installation and then it would automatically work.
Are there any other instructions on marrying these two components (9iDS Repository and JDev v3.2.3) that would cause the Source Control menu to appear?
Note: Received this response on the SCM forum from David Brown (Oracle)
    James,
JDev 3.2.3 with a 9iDS backend SCM repository is very undesirable. I am sure, after much >work, they could be made
to cohabit, but the reason we went for the 'suite' approach is to offer certification out of >the box, rather than mismatched
    components.
    sorry,
    David

I've been out for a while, so that's why I've delayed on this response.
Is there a description / procedure on "downgrading your repository to 6i" ?
    Thanks.
    Hi,
I'm afraid that Dave is correct about this - it's very hard to provide future compatibility in any product, and there is a long stretch of time between JDeveloper 3.2.3 and 9iDS. We do provide backward compatibility (you can connect to a 6i repository from a 9i version of JDeveloper), so if it's absolutely not possible to upgrade your clients to 9i JDeveloper, maybe downgrading your repository to 6i is an option.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Problem in New Repository Installation

I want to install the 9iDS SCM repository to 9i database. I follows the SCM installation guide using script method and pass the checking process but the following error still occur when installing the repository.
    Connected to: Oracle9i Release 9.0.1.1.1 - Production
    JServer Release 9.0.1.1.1 - Production
IMP-00002: failed to open C:\Ora9DS\REPADM61\ins\ckprereq.dmp for read
    Import file: EXPDAT.DMP >
I could not find ckprereq.dmp and EXPDAT.DMP in my computer.
Any one could help me? Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Danie

    Danie,
If ckprereq.dmp is not in repadm61\ins directory then your software install has failed. EXPDAT.DMP is the default. If no file to import is found EXPDAT.DMP is tried. Thus EXPDAT.DMP is not required as ckprereq.dmp would normally be found.
Also, have a look in the repadm61\logs directory for install log files.

  • Using SCM with 10g developer suite

i am using Oracle SCM utilities with 10g developer suite. can any body tell me that is there any way-out, or mechansim exists so that i can add existing coded objects in the database (e.g. procedures, functions, or table definitions) into the repository, and can check-out those objects...make the changes in them, and then check-in back, and SCM repository automatically maintains the history for those database objects (procedures, functions). i don't want to use any designer tool for this purpose. i want to make changes at the code level and want that version history be automatically maintained. tell me that whether oracle SCM can do this or it works only with the definitions created through oracle designer. Or any other alternative solution will also be highly appreciated.
    thanks

Thanks for your response, it was my mistake in having typoed in bad host name in runtime preference.
Thx again for your time, the forms are running now.

  • Xcode 3.0 and highlighted out SVN SCM repositories

Hi. I am experiencing a problem similar to the one mentioned on this website: http://macresearch.org/xcode-30-and-svn-linux-server
Rather than reply to a 5-month-dead, unofficial blog post, I figured I'd have a better shot of getting help here.
My SVN repository is hosted on SourceForge, and XCode is checking out revisions just fine, but when I go into Project -> Edit Project Settings, the current SCM Repository is "None," and the SCM Repository that I would like to use is highlighted out.
I can't seem to figure out why this is happening.
I've also tried committing manually in the Terminal, but since the project was imported to SVN with the target application already built, SVN is looking for a .svn folder within the directory thisProject/build/Release/thisApplication.app/
This means that get errors from SVN when I try to commit after rebuilding the app.
Obviously, I want to build and test the app before I commit any changes, so I am kind of stuck.

    Anybody?

  • Help: How to make JDeveloper to connect to Oracle repository through CMAN?

    Hi folks,
I have a very dummy problem.
    I have JDeveloper on Linux.
I have on Oracle SCM Repository in a database, which is across WAN.
The database is accessible through connection manager.
BUT HOW DO I EXPLAIN TO JDEVELOPER , that there is a Connection Manager. It only allows me to enter host:port:sid. It doesn't allow me to enter custom JDBC URL.
    This is really missing functionality...
    Please help me,
    Regards,
    Mihail Daskalov

The support for Oracle SCM in JDeveloper can only connect via thin JDBC. This always requires a host, port and SID. The limitation is due to underlying limitations in the libraries we use to connect to Oracle SCM.
Is your database connection using OCI? We have an existing enhancement request for OCI support (2700757), but let me know if it's another connection type, and I'll add that to the ER.
    Thanks,

  • "repository administrator uitility" problem.

    hi, there
When launching RAU, it asked me for user/passwd/connect_string,
    I did "system"/passwd/a local service,
    it told me
    "invalid user name/password, login denied"
the pair entered are no problem.
    So, what is the problem?
    thanks alot in advance.
    D.S.

This could be a long story and may be solved if you read the Designer(SCM) Repository installation Guide. You can find it here: http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/designer/content.html
Briefly though, all the Designer data is stored in a Repository. You can administer this Repository using the RAU. This repository, (the tables and views that make up the repository), is owned by a repository owner and not by "system". Read the repository installation guide to set up the repository owner and to build your repository.

  • SCM and Forms Builder version control

    Hi,
I would like to start using Oracle 10g SCM repository with Forms builder for version control. The idea would be that the forms developers do not use Repository Object Navigator.
I read from the instructions that Oracle9i Forms Developer requires the .fmb and other associated files to be located on an accessible disk, i.e. outside of the Oracle9i SCM repository. Thus to edit a .fmb file it must first be downloaded to a file system. That means that the developer needs to use RON. Is that really so? What is the reason for that?
When I was testing the version control functionality with Forms Builder I realized that the users cannot easily determine if a file is checked in or our unless they use RON or try to perform the action (i.e. check in or out). Is there any other solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Tomi

    Hi user574160
Subversion is seen as the natural successor of CVS, and so is a natural choice for many development sites out there.
Note you should have a look at the following Re: Configuration Management in Forms 6i regards Subversion locking to ensure the integrity of your binary forms files.
In turn the Subversion Book under section 3 Locking gives a good explanation of protecting binary files.
    Hope this helps.

    CM.

  • Clearcase VS Oracle SCM

    Hi ,
Does any one have the white paper showcasing Oracle SCM features vis~a~vis ClearCase.
Does oracle SCM allows for Multisited Parallel Development.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Saravanan K

    Saravanan,
If the sites are disconnected use the export and import utility. The export from the first SCM repository will take with it the necessary file ids. Import these into the second repository, check out, modify and check in the files and then export them. On import to the first repository we know that the files came from this repository and have been modified, they are imported as new versions of the original file.
Have a look at the doc for imp and exp in the commandline tool.

  • Light client for SCM

    Hi,
I'm searching for a light client for SCM. In my workgoup, some persons have to access to SCM only for Word files (documentation). And I don't want that they use something like RON or JDeveloper !
    It's for Windows XP OS.
    Thank you !

If you are using 10g or 9i (with patch 2), there is a product called the Repository Object Browser (ROB). This is a way for users to browse the SCM repository on the web. Setup is very easy with the provided documentation.

:) My English the level is not good.

It appears that you have not granted the correct privileges to your repository owner. You need to "GRANT SELECT ON SYS.V_$PARAMETER TO <repos_owner>;"
Please read the SCM(Repository)Install Guide on OTN. It is available from the Designer ( http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/designer/content.html) or SCM product sections on OTN.
