SCM Upgrade.

Hello Experts,
Currently, we are on SCM 5.0 & would be moving to latest version. I hope he latest version in SCM 7.0 & new EHP 1 has been released (correct me if I am wrong).
As it would be the first upgrade for me, can you please throw light on major points which should be considered.
I have few concerns, how Z- reports, Live Cache & ICH. would be impacted ? Please let me know if you have more question.
Regards
Rahul Chitte

Hi
First of all, yes EHP1 has been released.
Secondly there are two very good threads that discuss a lot of aspects of Upgrades to SCM 7 on the forum:
[Upgrade to SCM 7.0;
[SCM 5.1 / SCM2007 Upgrade;
It is worth reading through those first which may answer quite a few of your questions.
Regards
Ian

  • Obsolete BAPI changes SCM Upgrade

    Hi All,
we are working on SCM upgrade 7.0.There are obsolete BAPI's which at used needs to be repalced by new bapi's.
but the structure of two is different, few fields are not available in new BAPI.Specifically Quota BAPI : BAPI_QTASRVAPS_SAVEMULTI  (partner location, plan_number,partner type fields are missing ) and BAPI_MOSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI2 (is_master flag is not available)  bapi.
Pls  tell me the way to map the two.
    Thanks,

  • SAP SCM Upgrade to 5.0, Material Master Initial Transfer Issue

    Dear Folks,
We are doing an upgrade to SCM 5.0 for a client and are facing the issue of material master initial transfer. The changes to exising material like Proc type etc. travel seamlessly but while we try to create a new material in R/3 and transfer it to APO or if we delete an existing product in APO and re-transfer the material from R/3, it simply doesn't happen. We donot get any kind of errors also. We have tried various suggestions and solutions but all have failed. To summarize the activites that we have done to check the issue, please see the track below.
    Action                                                              Observation
    1. Observed queue blocks on R/3 and APO sides:            No blocks.
    2. “Important” logs on R/3 as well as APO side:                No error logs on CIF observed.
    3. Check material master data fields in R/3 relevant and necessary for APO: Done
    4. Check the APOKZ flag in MARC Table:                        Done
    5. Check OSS relevant notes for the issue:                      Done
    6. Check CIFMAT and MATLOC tables in APO:                Done
    7. Check the TRFCQIN and TRFCQOUT tables in APO     Done; nothing relevant to CIF observed.
    8. Debug CIF and find the issue                                       No breakthrough.
    9. Check location and location pre-requisites for CIF         Done
Now we have raised OSS notes to SAP and are awaiting a solution.
I request all Gurus to pitch-in and suggest possible issue here and perhaps a solution too. I am very hopeful that some one might have faced similar issue and have found a solution to the same.
    Warm Regards,
    Chandra

This required packaging materials to be CIFed first before transferring the other materials. Issue resolved, SAP issues a note on this.

  • SCM Upgrade 4x to 7 Macros have issues not functioning as expected

    Hi All,
We have upgraded SCM 4x to 7 and some of macros are not functioning as expected.
This is a start macro Specifically for lay out attributes macro where many of the key figures are editable, which are not suppose to be.
I have deactivated and activated, I have also verified the syntax of the production and quality macros. I did not find any difference. but behaving differently.
Please share your thoughts any one come across this kind of issues.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Sreeni

    Sreeni,
When you upgraded from 4.1 to 7.X, did you have to go throuh any interim steps like to 5.0 or 5.1 first.
My understanding is that you can go from 4.1 directly to 7.0.
Can you share your experience. Do you have any lessons learned that you put into a document that you would share.

  • SCM upgrade to 5.0 questions

    Hi.
I'm planning an upgrade from SCM 4.1 to 5.0 (from Basis perspective)... my first upgrade
I'm looking around and getting documentation, but I'm still a bit lost. I've a couple of questions.. maybe some of you can help me:
    - Is there a required Support Package level for the SCN 4.1 before que upgrade?
    - Has SCM 5.0 compativility issues with R/3 4.7?
I'm sure I'll have lots of more questions in the future, but I try to go step by step...
    Thanks in advance and regards.

    Dear community!
Could you please help with your input here?
This is an older thread, but a lot of colleagues can gain benefit from this discussion!

  • SCM Upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 or 7.0

Hi, We are contemplating to upgrading from SCM 5.0 to 5.1 or 7.0. Any advice that we need to consider to eliminate serious problem. Also, any issue with interfacing with ECC5 and BI 7? Thanks for your reply.

  • Upgrading from SCM 4.1 to SCM 2007/5.1 (HP-UX/MaxDB)

Here's my  challenge - I need to upgrade an SCM 4.1 system (HP-UX IA64 11.23/MaxDB 7.5) to SCM2007/5.1.  From what I can see in the Product Availability Matrix, SCM2007/5.1 requires MaxDB 7.7.  What I need to know is how and when should the MaxDB database and liveCache be upgraded from 7.5 to 7.7 (or 7.5 > 7.6 > 7.7).  I've tried to run PREPARE on the first system we wanted to test the upgrade on, but it fails with the following hard error: "ERROR: MaxDB Version is not supported by this upgrade.  ERROR: Error in database software path determination (ERR -10)".  This leads me to believe I need to upgrade the database before upgrade upgrading the application, yet I can't seem to find this requirement documented in any of the SCM upgrade guides.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

    Hi Kaushik
just a little input about funtional DP (not sure of system architectural improvements) :
I dont think performance would drastically improve per se
the areas that might be of some impact/ use in terms of performance are -
    - parallel processing profiles
    - macro improvements
    - changes in Admin Workbench (BW 7 functionality might make things easier)
    - changes in Planning area (no negatives for eg can help remove macros that used to do that function making it easier)
The important improvements are in more functionality
Its recommended to do some better process and layout deisgns to get performance improvements
pl note, there would be an initial long run time the first time you perform any transaction because of indexes being created

  • Issue with /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_70 in SCM 7.0 prepare

    Hi,
We are running an SCM upgrade from 5.1-> 7.0
We upgraded our dev system fine. We are now in QA and running the prepare at phase PREP_CNVCHECKS/REQ_APOUPG0.
Option # 3 of section A of  /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_70 runs job name SYNC_LC_DB_DP, program /SAPAPO/OM_SYNC_LC_DB.  Most planning versions run ok, but for ZDP01, this one has been running for over 30,000 seconds and it looks like it is not doing anything in liveCache or the SCM database.
Is there some way to determine what is going on with this job? We'd like to move on with the prepare...
    Thanks,

  • Upgrade of numbers 3.5 to mac wont download

I downloaded Os 10.10 (Yosemite), tried to download update of numbers 3.2.2 to 3.5, but nothing happens, except the little ferris wheel revolves. any suggestions of how to make upgrade active?

    Hi Abdul,
Upgrading a system especially from APO 3.0 to SCM 5.0 is a project by itself.
Your starting point should be the SCM Upgrade webpage
    https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700002629722004E
Also apart from software upgrade you need to check what hardware upgrade you have to do.
This is just the technical upgrade. If you also try including functional upgrade (start using new functionalities or features that are now standard) you need to carry out separate functional tests.
    Thanks,
    Somnath

  • Migrate Oracle 9.2.0.5 to 11g -appreciate help

    Hi,
I am currently running oracle 9.2.0.5 in winodws 2003 standard edition 32 bit. I want to move the database to a new windows 2008 R2 64bit server.
My database is very simple and small with 8gb data (it has 320 tables, 85 views, 40 packages, 54 procedures, 20 functions, 100 triggers and 95 sequences to highlight a few).
I would like to know what are the best possible options available for a smooth transition of moving the data to a new winodws 2008 64 bit server.
    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to install oracle 9.2.0.5 64 bit in windows 2008 64 bit server?
    2. If I install oracle 11g 64 bit in winodws 2008 server, how can I move the data from current server 2003 with oracle 9.2.0.5? Is is possible to move the data without upgrading to oracle 9.2.0.8?
Your help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Experts,
After SCM upgrade, Livecache SQL is not accessible, even though LC is starting up.
I have executed sdbregview -l command in both the SCM and Livecache systems.. there is a diffrence
On SCM system , it shows 7.7.04.29.for SQLDBC and LC system it shows 7.7.07.45 .
Due to this difference, SQL is not accessible and in the work process , I see the error.

    how to resolve this error.
if we upgrade Livecache to 7.9, the version mismatch between SCM and livecache will sync up automatically?

    2010/06/15 07:03:45 PREPARE: START OF PHASE EXTRACTKRN_PRE
    ERROR: Cannot find file 'C:\SCM_2007_Upgrade_Media\51033508_8\NW_7.0_SR3_Kernel_WINDOWS__LNX_X86\KN_WINDOWS_X86_64_AUPG
    KERNEL.TOC'
    SEVERE ERROR(S) OCCURRED IN EXTRACTKRN_PRE !!!
The file name it is looking for does not exist in any of the Kernel versions I have checked. If I try to skip this step it is asking for the PASSWORD. How can I get this password? (only from SAP Support or any note?).
What is the Solution for the above ERROR. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

All people cant check all the groups to answer. Moreover I am not keeping the questions > open. As soon as I get the answer I am proving the answer in every group and immediately closing the question.
    > So what is the problem with that? I do not think this is creating any inconvenience to any one, just increasing the number of questions in the group.
This is not wanted as written in the "Rules of engagement". This is a public forum, not a "help desk".
    > OK, As you said If I post only in a single group do you guarantee that you will check every time all the groups to answer my question/ find my question?
Again, this is a forum where the question are answered on a volunteered basis. "Demanding" help is not the way to go, you can ask for help but there's no guarantee that you'll get an answer. If you urgently need help use the official support channels or get yourself a consultant on-site who can answer all your question instantly.
    > And please paste the URL of those rules that this is wrong. Since I didnt read that.
It's the first entry in every forum, it contains the "Rules of Engagement" which say:
    Please do not Cross post.
Post your question in the most appropriate forum; not multiple forums. This is bad netiquette and will might only aggravate potential repliers.
Just imagine if everyone like you would paste questions in several forums.

  • Upgrade from SCM 5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1 (with NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1)

    Hi folks,
we are trying to upgrade our SCM5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1. There seems to be a problem in the phase, where SAPup is trying to detect the needed CDs / DVDs. SAPup recognizes that "FRP" is used within the system. There appears a dialog to enter the mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.
It says <<Enter at least the mount point for the DVD titled "FRP Software DVD">>. All other needed media is accepted, but not the DVD with the FRP-Software.
SAP Note "1300960"  explains, that as of SAP Business Suite 2008 onward, no media without a MID.XML file will be accepted for upgrades (e.g. media containing Add-Ons).
I have opended a message to SAP Support, but there is no solution / workaround until now. I cannot skip the phase and therefore it is not possible to launch / continue the entire upgrade.
SAPup Version is "7.10/7, build 31.010 for UNICODE"
Has anyone faced the same problem with no-MID.XML based media?
    Thank you for any advice!
    Kind regards,
    Marcel Jentsch

    Hi,
We just upgraded from SCM 5.0 to 7.0 sp9.
You need not deactivate the DP planning areas before upgrade.
We did not face any issues because of this.
    Regards,
    Ashok
