Top 4 basic issues that are encountered in SCOM 2012 and SCCM 2012
HI,
I need to give a presentation on the basic issues that are encountered in SCOM 2012 and SCCm 2012.
Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks in advance
Rohith KumarHi,
I am not familiar with SCCM, so I will give some issue I encounterred in SCOM:
1. Not monitored and grey agent, here is an article for your reference:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212723.aspx
2. Failed to discover and install agents, this may caused by the action account or install account does not have proper permissions to install the agents. Some time maybe the discovery rule is not enabled.
3. Failed to import Management Pack, this may caused by references MPs are not imported to the management group, or sometime the proper referenced MPs are imported, but there may be incorrect typing in the XML file which defines the management pack.
4. Runas account and Action account fail. If you change password for action account, you may also need to change the password everywhere the account is used in SCOM. For run as account, if the account does not have enough right to run some tasks, we may
encounter errors. You may refer to the below link which take SQL mp for example:

Display SCOM Visio diagrams in sharepoint 2013?
In my sharepoint 2010 environment I installed the components to view SCOM Visio diagrams (http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2012/04/02/visio-and-sharepoint-extensions-for-system-center-2012-released.aspx)
Is there an updated version of this tool that will work with sharepoint 2013?Hi,
Here is a blog about integrating Operations Manager 2012 Views in SharePoint 2013 with Visio Services, you can use as a reference:

SCOM 2012 Service Level Dashboard
I have been tasked with creating a Service level dashboard for SCOM 2012. After reading up on various blogs and sites around methods and BI / reporting tools I am no closer to knowing what would be the best solution, and would appreciate some guidance.
I want to create SLO groups for applications - Exchange, AD, SQL, SCCM etc. and have a high level heat map with measures like CPU util, Disk space %, latency etc. updated every minute and displayed in each block (preferably using corners of a single block),
and if possible to add a bootstrap style icon into each block.
I would like drill down functionality on each group that then breaks down into another heatmap (per server).
And then to drill down further which displays a SLD type dashboard on that instance.
I am comfortable with creating the final level SLD using widgets, would it be possible to use Visio for the heatmaps ?
I have looked into using Power View, would conditional formatting be a better option ?
Id like to publish the dashboard into Sharepoint.
Would appreciate your feedback. Once i know which solution to look into, it would become much easier to focus my attention.Hi,

SCOM 2012 Open Custom Dashboard directly in Console
I wanted to display a dashboard on a big Screen .
I was looking for options and with the help i could find , we could open it using Web console on the TV , or Sharepoint Site or Visio diagram
then i found we could open the particular view directly using SCOM console (If it is installed)
Using something like: Microsoft.MOM.UI.Console.exe /ViewName:View_f0e6e6d99131451985140cb5f020028e.
This is valid for SCOM 2007 R2
Is there an similar option for SCOM 2012, I want to to show a particular dashboard that we created using this method.
I am following this article
http://www.peppercrew.nl/index.php/2011/04/scom-open-view-direct-in-console/I tried this $mg.GetMonitoringViews() | where {$_.displayname -like "*My Distributed
App*" | select Name
However i am not able to fetch the Distributed Application view that i created.
Is distributed application different from View. I somehow aint able to find it when using the Powershell or SQL
I even tried to fetch from SQl Database as well using http://www.peppercrew.nl/index.php/2011/04/scom-open-view-direct-in-console/ -

Pushing or Pulling data from Systems Center (SCSM & SCOM and maybe SCCM) 2012
Is there any way to publish Systems Center Data/reports via RSS or another way so that they can feed "live" data to digital signs?
I get that there are ways to create dashboards and publish to Sharepoint, but I am trying to take it up a notch, any hope for me?
Thanks,

No Data In SCOM 2012 R2 VM Dashboards
We just applied CU3 for SCOM 2012 R2. We also imported the management packs for the new SCVMM Dashboards. How long should it take before we get data displayed in these new dashboards, 'Virtual Machine Dashboard' and 'VMM Host Dashboard' ?
Orange County District AttorneyHi,
Based on my understanding, your issue is that you have import SCVMM management pack, under Monitoring workspace on Operation console, under the management pack, you cannot see data under the two dashboard.
It is suggested to make sure those objects are discovered already, and then check whether those corresponding rules are enabled.
And it is alway recommended to look into the management pack guide before using it.

SCOM startup console dashboard view
Hi!
I'm testing the SCOM console with the /Viewname: parameter when I start the SCOM console, to get the correct console view directly. This is something that the customers asking for.
Most of the time we use dashboard to get the correct overview screen, so I want to use different dashboards as startup views.
I have following the information from Stefan Roth
http://stefanroth.net/2012/09/28/scom-2012-scom-console-parameters-how-to/
I can also see that many others have the same problem as I have with dashboard. I get the internal name from all views throught the powershell command or directly from the MPs, except from dashboards. From the command I do not
get any response and when I use the data from the MP, example Microsoft.SQLServer.Presentation.DatabaseSummaryDashboard
or UIGenerated_38a8b031..._AllAlertsOverviewOverride with the /Viewname: parameter I only get the output on that
I don't have permission to access the view...
Someone that have any solution on this problem?

Dashboard Downtime - Uptime SCOM 2012
Hello
I have SCOM 2012 installed. The principal functions it is able to monitor the uptime and downtime of Windows 2012 R2 servers (Exchange - Lync - Hyper-V) on a Dashboard and have SLA in Datacenter Monitor.
Is possible may have a Dashboard with real-time measurements (Downtime - Uptime) in SCOM and also SLO Dashboard?
I create a SLA Tracking and shutdown a host for 2 hours was always 100% the Dashboard.
Thanks for your help.
RegardsHi,
When you are creating Service level tracking, please chose Windows operating system as the targeted class, and then create a service level dashboard to add the created SLA, you may get the downtime and uptime information.

Hello Guys
I have installed SCOM 2012 R2 and I need to map the monitored servers but no license sharepoint enterprise to create with Visio pluging monitoring views.
I've already posted dashboard in SharePoint but I have not found another way to create a similar topology to what can be achieved with Visio.
I would like your help to know if there is another way to create topologies (maps) and be published by example in html o in sharepoint.
Regards
SANNo, you will need to create Maps for SCOM 2012 R2 by Dashboards. you can't do it through SharePoint by .html

Hi!
We deploy SCCM 2012 SP1 with database on the SQL Server cluster. We monitore SQL Server by SCOM 2012 SP1 so, both node FQDN are displayed in SCOM console.
SCCM display virtual SQL cluster name as FQDN and both SQL cluster nodes as NetBIOS names in its console.
When we import SCCM management pack into SCOM, it adds 2 SQL Server cluster node as 2 NetBIOS names, so we have 4 objects for SQL cluster nodes in SCOM console:
1. 2 "old" objects with FQDN names which have status "Available"
2. 2 "new" objects with short NetBIOS names which have status "Not monitored" and are classified in SCCM views as "ConfigMgr Site Database Server"
Can I "merge" these 4 objects into 2 "old" monitored objects and can SCOM display all SCCM roles (including database servers) as monitored?I have this same problem, except with SCCM 2012 R2 / SCOM 2012 R2. It's quite annoying, as it prevents proper monitoring of the site database.

SCOM 2012 Reporting Components with a shared SQL cluster
Hi, we are planning to install SCOM 2012 but i am a bit confused around the reporting components.
We have a shared SQL Enterprise cluster with multiple instances which we would like to use for our OperationsMananger and OperationsManagerDW databases. However after trying a test SCOM deployment, installing the SCOM reporting components on a VM requires
a local running copy of SQL reporting services.
Is this true? It seems ludicrous to have to purchase an additional license of SQL just to run the reporting components of SCOM. We have spent a lot of money on our SQL cluster and we would like to use it. We dont want to install the SCOM reporting components
on the shared SQL cluster.
If this is true, can you tell me which license of SQL we require? Just to run SQL reporting services on a VM should just require a standard SQL license, right?
Also if we have to purchase a SQL license for this standalone VM, would you recommend having the OperationsManagerDW database on the shared SQL cluster or on the VM where the standalone instance of SQL reporting services resides.
Surely this is something that other people have an issue with? I would have thought most people would want to use a shared SQL cluster. Any help is much appreciated.Just to add that SQL Reporting Services isn't cluster aware so the best you could do is to install stand-alone onto a node of the cluster.
To reinforce what Scott is saying, see this screenshot of the install of SCOM reporting:
http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk/images/easyblog_images/42/scom/CTP2/Install/SQRS9.png
Technically you can install SCOM reporting on a shared SQL Server Reporting Services instance but as Scott (and the screenshot) state - it will overwrite any existing security settings on existing reports.
Scott is also correct that SQL Server Standard Edition is included as part of the licensing cost of System Center 2012 as long as the SQL instance only runs components of System Center.
cheers
Graham

I have one SQL 2012 Server with a few instances. 1 for Scom, 1 for SCCM and 1 for Service Manager. The instance shows up as blank for reporting services on the SCOM. Do I have to install SQL on the SCOM box also? Why Can't
it see the instance on my 2012 SQL box? It is in a different instance than SCCM. -
Greetings
I use Visio 2010 in windows 7 64bit
and I have this problem:
whenever I try to save a diagram to JPEG (save as>JPEG) and then close Visio using the X button on the upper right corner, then Visio hangs.
The jpeg pic is saved ok, but Visio hangs permanently: I have to close it using task manager.
On the other hand, if after I save into jpeg, I press whatever other button in Visio (from ribbon) then it works ok, and afterwards I can close Visio with the X button
- but, if I try to close Visio with the X button right after saving to JPEG, Visio will surely hang.
Thank you
PS. Visio 2010 is fully updated (File>Help reports:
Visio 2010 Premium (v14.0.6111.5000) SP1 MSO (14.0.6112.5000) 32bit)Update:
The problem reappeared/wasn't completely solved:
So, I also went to Control Panel>add/remove programs, rightclick on Adobe Acrobat X> change installation and untick the PDFMaker item, in order to uninstall it:
that's because initially, even after I had unticked "PDFMaker for Visio AddIn" in COM Add-Ins,
in File>Options>Add-Ins tab, on the Active Application Add-Ins part (yes, on ACTIVE Add-Ins)
I was still seeing about 5-6 lines, all having items containing PDFMaker for Visio AddIn" [PDFMVisio.vsl].
In other words, the PDFMVisio.vsl file was loaded even if unticked!!
Then, after uninstalling the add-in, the problem was finally fixed at last!
Thank you so much for this additional information! I was having the same problem. I did what you instructed, and the problem has now disappeared! -
Microsoft Intune Management Pack for SCOM 2012 R2
Hi,
Is Management Pack of Microsoft Intune available to monitor the Intune Alerts and view the Intune dashboard ?
Is any API available of Intune for SCOM to view the Dashboard etc..?
Shailendra DevHi
Nope, there is no Management pack available. You can check the Management pack here
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16174.microsoft-management-packs.aspx it is the most accurate list. For checking Intune Status check this Dashboard
