SCOM 2012: An account failed to log on. EventID 4625

I don't no, why my service account failed to log on to the reporting service. Username and password are correct.
Account For Which Logon Failed:
    Security ID:        NULL SID
    Account Name:        svcSCOM
    Account Domain:        12345
Failure Information:
Failure Reason:        Unknown user name or bad password.

Process Information:
    Caller Process ID:    0xb34
    Caller Process Name:    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\ReportingServicesService.exe
The SQL Services on this server are running this account without errors. It doesn't matter if I choose local system account or my scom service account.
Any help is appreciated :-)
Best regards,
Daniel

Hi,
According to the error message and its sub status, it seems like that user name is correct but the password is wrong.
I would like to suggest you reset the account password and re-enter it for all those services that run under the account.

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
    - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
    - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
    - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

Well I opened the case for him and he never followed up with Microsoft :-(
It's a kerberos issue, we're told to ignore it.  Would you be willing to be patient and stubborn and work with CSS to at least understand what's going on better?  I can tell you it's normal with Essentials but not the exact technical reason it's
    happening.
Unfortunately TechNet isn't coming back, sorry folks :-(

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 is failing to install - SQL not compatible

I'm getting an error when installing SCOM 2012 SP1 stating the SQL is not supported. I have seen a few posts on the forum about this error message but so far none of the resolutions resolved my issue.
Using named instance on port 2433.  Entering SQL\instance and port 2433 yields same message as seen in another post:
"The installed version of SQL server is not supported.  Verify that the computer and installed version of SQL Server meet the minimum requirements for installation.  Please see the Supported Configurations document for further information."
I noticed I get this in my OpsMgrSetupWizard.log
[15:03:28]: Error: :StackTrace:   at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)

Notice the last line - IsSQLOnAValidComputer is null/empty.  The solutions I found are to open the ports between these servers but the SQL server and SCOM server are on the same network - no firewall between them.  The registry key for domain firewall
policy to 'EnableFirewall' is 0.  The firewall service is disabled on both machines.
I am running the installation as a domain service account - for the DAA.  It has local admin on the SQL and SCOM server.  It has sysadmin DB access to the instance.
    SCOM Server:
    Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1
    SQL Server:
    Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 | SQL 2012 RM 64-bit version 11.0.2100.60
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear the issue has been resolved. Thanks for the update.

  • SCOM 2012 ACS agent Failed connecting to collector

    Hi,
We are using SCOM 2012 on Windows 2012, when installing the SCOM agent with Audit Collection Services the ACS forwarder will report in as healthy until reboot, after reboot the forwarder state changes to failed to connect to collector. (XXX's are redacted
    system information).
Forwarder unsuccessfully tried to connect to the following collector(s): XXXXXXXX:51909, status: 0x80090322 (TCP connect), source: registry addresses tried: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:51909 If the list of collectors is blank, then AdtAgent was unable to locate a collector.
Common reasons for this message are: The machine(s) listed is not online AdtServer is not running on the machine(s) listed AdtServer on the machine(s) listed is not listening on the specified port TCP connectivity to the AdtServer machine is blocked by firewall,
IPSec, or other filtering mechanism AdtServer on the machine(s) listed actively refused the connection (due to policy or current activity load) For detailed failure information, enable trace logging using the TraceFlags registry key and examine the AdtAgent.log
in the \temp subdirectory of the Windows directory.
Enabling trace logging repeats the same error, unable to connect to server. We have verified, the IP is correct, the FQDN is correct and has a forward and reverse lookup record. We have also verified via telnet that port 51909 is open in both directions.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you are 100% sure port 51909 is open at Collector's side (you don't need to open it on ACS forwarder) and there's no additional firewall somewhere at the middle use wireshark and capture what's going on.

  • SCOM 2012 Operations Manager Failed to start a process

We have recently upgraded from SCOM 2007 to SCOM 2012. We are not getting a great deal of “Operations Manager Failed to start a process”. The process varies including:
    DiscoverSQL2008ASDiscovery.vbs
    DiscoverSQL2008DBEngineDiscovery.vbs
    DiscoverSQL2008ASDiscovery.vbs
    Microsoft.Windows.Server.NetwokAdapter.BandwidthUsed.ModuleType.vbs
I have researched and researched. I know that you can try to run the scripts locally on the machine but it seems the scripts never make it to the machine. I go to the path in the error, no luck. I look in the other folders as I know that SCOM moves the scripts,
and I even search the entire C drive but the scripts are not getting to the server. The folder is not even making it. For example:
    Command executed: "C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe" /nologo "Microsoft.Windows.Server.NetwokAdapter.BandwidthUsed.ModuleType.vbs" SERVER true Working Directory: C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring
    Host Temporary Files 11606\1759\
The script is not there and the folder \1759 is not there either.
I have removed and reinstalled the client.
Antivirus is fine, up to date and not blocking on any of the machines.
I have stopped the “System Center Management service” and renamed the “Health Service State” folder and it recreates fine but not long after I get the warning in SCOM about “Operations Manager Failed to start a process”.
I look in event viewer for Operations Manager on this particular one and I see a lot of:
Performance data from the Health Service could not be collected since required registry keys could not be read, the error was 2L (The system cannot find the file specified.). Event ID 6001.
    I tried the fix of
"lodctr MOMConnectorCounters.ini" and "lodctr HealthServiceCounters.ini" but I get “error
encountered while updating text in registry. Status: 0”. Again I am using SCOM 2012.
Do I need to look at each failed script or is there a overall issue because the scripts are not making it to the machines. Any ideas?

I guess you might need to run "mofcomp sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof".
    Thanks, S K Agrawal

  • Errors installing SCOM 2012 Reporting Services

I've run into an issue installing SCOM2012 Reporting Services, that I can't seem to figure out. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 SSRS local to the SCOM server using an instance name of SCOM. I created the databases for this on another server (SQL server
2008 R2 SP2) during the SSRS configuration. All from SSRS looks fine, and shows the scale out join, all good. I can browse to the reports page, add folders, all that normal stuff. I added the domain\datareader and datawriter accounts as SSRS admins in the
site security, as well as ensured they are sysadmin in SQL, and local admins on the SQL and SCOM servers. So, all looks good. Until I go to add reporting services to SCOM 2012. It fails to complete, and the log shows:
[12:28:36]: Warn: :Message:SRSPolicySetter SoapException Exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: An error occurred when invoking the authorization extension. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AuthorizationExtensionException:
An error occurred when invoking the authorization extension. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException, Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Common, Version=7.0.5000.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.
       at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportingService2005Impl.GetRoleProperties(String Name, Task[]& Tasks, String& Description)
at Microsoft.ReportingServices.WebServer.ReportingService2005.GetRoleProperties(String Name, Task[]& Tasks, String& Description). Will retry..
I then look in the SSRS logs, and see:
    library!ReportServer_0-1!89c!08/12/2013-12:28:34:: Call to GetRolePropertiesAction(Browser).
    library!ReportServer_0-1!89c!08/12/2013-12:28:36:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AuthorizationExtensionException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AuthorizationExtensionException: An error occurred when
invoking the authorization extension. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException:
The user domain\DataReader does not have sufficient permission to perform the operation.).
So, I'm at a loss. That user is a sysadmin in SQL, has been added to the SSRS security for site and folder with full permissions, has been added to the SSRS databases specifically, and is a local administrator on both the SSRS/SCOM server and the SQL server.
What am I missing here folks? The SSRS is then completely hosed, and no longer works either. So, I have to uninstall and reinstall to even try again. This is getting frustrating.
    Please help! :)
    Thanks in advance,
    mpleaf

After many google searches, and a lot of security changes, I think I found the right now that finally cured the issue. I had to add my datareader account to the Operations Manager Administrators in SCOM User Roles, and then it seemed to go through just fine.

  • SCOM 2012 Probe for Omnibus (Netcool)

    Hi Team,
One of my client is using SCOM 2012
I have asked customer if they use a load balancing solution and they answered that
    no:
if the RMS fails the system will switch to the next MS “in line” (let’s call it MS2) and when the RMS will finish rebooting (all 3 MSs, RMS and the other two MSs in the solution, work on virtual
machines and rebooting them will take one minute, or something like that) then it will become the active MS/RMS (a failback configuration).
If MS2 will fail (while the RMS is still down) then the third MS (MS3) will become the active one; if MS2 (or RMS) will recover then the active MS will be MS2 (or RMS).
Q1: That means Customer Configured Cluster Failover ? any specific ?
If yes. Do we have any Cluster IP which connect to Active MS (Actually SCOM Probe needs to be connected to MS)
Q2 : When Primary MS 1 goes down.. how Operator will see events from Which MS ? (Is Operational console will be installed on MS* also) ?
Q 3: So if there one connector to MS1 and a second connector on MS2, both MS on the same management group, and configured to get the same group of alarms (for example ResolutionState = 0
(New) ) then the two connectors will be in a race condition: each connector will receive different alarms because the alarms are stored in the same database (and not on the MS itself).
    Is my understanding correct?
    Thanks

  • NULL SID Security Log Event ID 4625 when attempting logon to 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Session Host

This is a new deployment of Server 2008 R2 in a newly created 08 R2 active directory on a newlyt installed 08 R2 RDSH server.
A new generic user is created in AD. That user can log on to the terminal server on the console just fine. But that user cannot logon via RDP. Furthermore, the domain admin credentials also cannot logon via RDP.
When either set of credentials is used, the logon attempt registered in the Windows Security Even Log as a denied attempt with Event ID 4625 reporting a NULL SID.
Troubleshooting: The RDSH has already been disjoined and rejoined to the domain. Also, curious note, there are three ways to save the user account on the RDSH server as a valid user account which has permissions to logon. The one Microsoft recommends is to open computer management and edit the remote desktop users group. When I the accounts here and click apply, they immediately dissapear. Secondly, I can open the computer properties and go to the remote tab. There I find the user accounts added using the previous method are enumerated but not displaying correctly. They show up with the RDSH server name and a question mark. The last way, is to open the Remote Desktop Session Configuration tool and edit the properties of the rdp connection and go to the security tab. This was the only place I could get a user to ‘stick’ but the logon attempts still show a NULL SID and access is denied.
I have scoured every bit of RDS documenation I can find with no luck.
    Thanks,
    Chris

I am also experiencing this issue.
    2008 servers, 2007 exchange on server 2008.
These are fresh servers, fresh AD. Users can log onto domain normally, RDP not working for admin accounts, generating same errors as posted above.
The bigger issue, is that we have a cisco messaging service account that is generating this error on the DC's and the Exchange server as well. The service basically emails users voicemails to their inbox. The user we've created for the cisco service is unable
to authenticate to the exchange server, in turn generating the same errors posted above as well. We can log on to the domain with this account just fine.
Any ideas on this? We have not tried re-adding the servers to the domain.

When i check the SCOM installation logs it says it tried to connect to my Management server and it could not open Port 5724.
During the installation i checked that the SDK Service was stopping frequently and also a Visual studio debugger popup also occured. Can any one assist in solving the issue ?

    Hi All,
So i got the actual commands to register the SPN. So the above were wrong. Hope the below is useful for some one if the face the above issue.
In Windows Server 2008R2 – the command is SETSPN –A. In WS2012, it changed to SETPSPN –S which checks for duplicates before it allows you to create them.
    Legend: SCOM Server - SCOMSVR.Contoso.com
    DNS Domain: Contoso.com
    SDK Account: SDKSVC
To add SPN for the SDK Service:
    ===================================
    In Win2k 12
setspn -S MSOMSdkSvc/SCOM Server FQDN Domain\SDK Account name
setspn -S MSOMSdkSvc/SCOM Server name without FQDN Domain\SDK Account name
    Ex: setspn -S MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.Contoso.com Contoso\SDKSVC
    setspn -S MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR Contoso\SDKSVC
    In Win2k8
setspn -A MSOMSdkSvc/SCOM Server FQDN Domain\SDK Account name
setspn -A MSOMSdkSvc/SCOM Server name without FQDN Domain\SDK Account name
    Ex: setspn -A MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.Contoso.com Contoso\SDKSVC
    setspn -A MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR Contoso\SDKSVC
    To verify the SPN's
    ============================
    1. setspn -L MS Host name without FQDN
    Ex: setspn -L SCOMSVR
    2. setspn -L Domain\DSK Action account
    Ex: setspn -L Contoso\SDKSVC
Post entering the above commands you should see the entries of the Healthservice and not the entries of the SDK Service.
    1. If you are are using a Domain account for SDK / DAS then that entry should not appear when execute the command “setspn -L  SCOMSVR”. Where SCOMSVR is the name of the MS and it should be without FQDN.
Example: The below entry should not appear when you enter setspn -L SCOMSVR
    MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR
    MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.contoso.com
If you get the above entries for "setspn -L SCOMSVR" then you need to delete and re add the SPN again and re check.
If you get Duplicate entries the below post entering "setspn -L Contoso\SDKSVC" then you need to delete the duplicate entries and re add the SPN again and re check.
    Ex: MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR
    MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.contoso.com
    MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.contoso.com
    MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR
To delete a SPN if required:
    ===============================
setspn -D MSOMSdkSvc/SCOM MS FQDN Hostname without FQDN Hostname
setspn -D MSOMSdkSvc/Hostname without FQDN Hostname without FQDN again
    Ex: setspn -D MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR.Contoso.com SCOMSVR
    setspn -D MSOMSdkSvc/SCOMSVR SCOMSVR

  • SCOM 2012 Reporting Fails During Install

I am having issues installing the Reporting Module for SCOM 2012.  Here is my environment:
Stand-alone SQL server with SQL 2012 (Default Instance and only is used for SCOM)
Reporting Services Installed and I am able to browse to the URL
Reader Account has access to both servers and both Report/OPM databases.
    Stand-alone Management Server
    Everything is running fine.
When I go to install Reporting on the SQL Server it fails during the Configuring Security phase and here are the logs:
Error:All retrys failed!!. Message:SetSRSSecurity Exception, now throwing:Cannot stop ReportServer service on computer '.'.
Error: :SetSRSSecurity  failed: Threw Exception.Type: System.InvalidOperationException, Exception Error Code: 0x80131509, Exception.Message: Cannot stop ReportServer service on computer '.'.

None needed unless the failure count is high (>100). Check your network for any rogue clients. Restart the server if problem persists.
Notifications sent by the SMTP channel work fine!
    I Have the following Servers:
    LCS (live.august.ru) - Win 2003 EE SP2 + Live Communication Server 2005 SP1
    SCOM - Win 2012 + SCOM 2012 SP1
Also I have a third server (Win 2003 + SCOM 2007 R2) and it sends notifications to the same VMLCS server successfully. The configurations of IM Channels are identical on both servers:
    IM server: live.august.ru
    Return address: sip:[email protected]
    Protocol option: TCP
    Authentication method: Kerberos
    IM port: 5060
I tried to change the Authentication method to NTLM, and the port to 5061, but it doesn't help...

    Hi,

  • Upgrade to R2 from SCOM 2012 SP 1 UR 4 - Final configuration failed to install

I was upgrading our test SCOM 2012 SP1 UR 4 sever to R2 and ran into the following issue:
Setup cannot be completed…  Final configuration failed to install.
    Everything else upgraded fine.
There was no rollback performed…. The log states “Skipping rollback for install item Final Configuration as it was not successfully installed”
Looking in OpsManagerSetupWizard.log in the section for Final Configuration I see the following:

The log states “Access to the path 'EULA_EN_EVAL.RTF' is denied.”  I was able to find this file in D:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\SetupTemp\EN, but when viewing its contents I see it
was from the SP 1 upgrade as it starts off with “MICROSOFT EVALUATION SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS MICROSOFT SYSTEM CENTER 2012 STANDARD SERVICE PACK 1.”  Based on everything else referenced in the log file previously, it seems like it was trying to locate
this file in D:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Setup.  Also, I applied the product key after installing SP1 previously, so it was not running with an evaluation license.
Running Get-SCOMManagementGroup | ft skuforlicense, version, timeofexpiration –a
    gives me:
    SkuForLicense Version     TimeOfExpiration
           Retail 7.1.10226.0 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM
The version (7.1.10226.0) is that of SCOM 2012 R2 (as I noted before, there was no rollback.)  Everything seems to be functioning fine (Console, Web Console, Reporting Services.)
Is there a way to get it to re-run only the Final Configuration steps (which will probably fail again as the EULA file does not exist where it expects it)?  I am not sure if there were supposed to be any further
configuration steps that did not get completed, so i dont know how stable SCOM is now.  Should I re-run the R2 installer?  Or is it OK as is?  The only info online about a SCOM Install where the final configuration failed to install dealt with
an error upgrading the SCOM Console, which is not relevant to my situation.  This is my test SCOM environment, running on a VM.  I could revert to the pre-upgrade snapshot and see if another upgrade attempt completes successfully, but if that does
work I am concerned that something like this may happen in my prod environment, which is not running on a VM, so has no ability to revert to a snapshot.
