SCOM Two Overrides Applied, who wins?

I have a question regarding overrides with SCOM 2012.  Let's say there is a Logical Disk Space monitor in place that has a threshold of 10%.   I have a group created which contains a certain subset of logical disks.   Lets say I
override my Logical Disk Space monitor and set the threshold to 5% for only that group.   Now, six months later, someone comes along and says, just for this one specific server, override the threshold to be 2%.   This one server is in the
group above, that we previously set to 5%.  So which override wins for that one server?  Does it go based on the date, or order,  the override was applied?   Because both sets of overrides are still in place.  I just don't know
how SCOM decides which to listen to.
Hopefully that made sense.  Let me know if you need any more information, otherwise thanks in advance for your help!

There are some rules that go along with how they get applied.
Now, how do all these overrides actually get applied? To take the most complicated case, we'll work with an instance. We want to know what overrides apply to a particular instance of IIS for a particular rule targeted toward IIS. The first thing the algorithm
does, conceptually, is gather all the types and instances that are in this instances hierarchy. So, this instance would include the IIS class and any classes that it derives from all the way to System.Entity and the computer instance that hosts this IIS
instance and the computer class of this computer as well as all it's base classes. Next, the algorithm collects any overrides that may apply to this particular rule and overlays them on the hierarchy. So, if you have an enabled override disabling this rule
with a context of System.Entity, it will exist in this objects hierarchy. With this conceptual hierarchy in mind, the algorithm starts at the top and traverses down applying the following criteria, in priority order:
Non-Category enabled overrides always win over category overrides
An enforced override always wins over a non-enforced override
Instance targeted overrides always win over class targeted overrides
Overrides in non-sealed management packs always win over sealed overrides
A child in the hierarchy of overrides always wins over a direct parent override of the same type (instance vs class)
Class overrides from contained instances always win over class overrides of the instance.
Instance overrides with the higher relative depth win over those with a lower depth. Depth is calculated from the root node(s) of the containment hierarchy of which the instance in question is a part

Is the (user) Logon Script, launching this? : Command Line "C:\Windows\regedit.exe" /s \\DC01\NETLOGON\ABC\License.reg
If so, it's because the Logon script is simply executing what it has been configured to do.
Group Policy Admin Templates and settings which are specific to \User Configuration\ vs. \Computer Configuration\, will only be executed "per-user" or "per-computer" - just as executing "Startup Scripts" are a per-computer thing,
and executing "Logon Scripts" are a per-user thing - but that is only the trigger to execute - not what the executed payload might really do.
I would also expect such a process to fail (a user would not usually have permissions to a HKLM regkey) unless the regkey security has been relaxed, or, the user logging in has admin rights or similar.

  • Call Forwarding, LED settings, e-mail invites, profiles, e-mail settings (who wins on conflict)

Hi, it is unbelievable how many things you guys from RIM got wrong in the past few years. no wonder you are going down. I am a BB long time fan and recently switched from the best BB ever (9900) with the worst battery life to the Q10. You have massive issues with this one:
    - Can not forward to contact from phone book?! Are you kidding me? A feature, available from the dawn of mobile phones.
    - can't change the LED red blink duration. The default is too short. I have to watch my phone all the time over the weekend. Why??? Fix it!!!
    - One of the accounts I use is Yahoo. The stupid Q10 can not send invites via Yahoo account!!! Why? Fix it! The 9900 could.
    - e-mail account settings - that's the big one. You got me really **bleep** here. Vodafone, UK disabled my SIM for few hours as I was testing something. The stupid Q10 erased 30 days of e-mails from my both accounts just like that. Why???? How could you do this to people? I guess you can't recover anything. Where is the setting that determines who wins b/n the device and the mailbox???? How can you launch a device without this setting.
    - The way notification profiles are managed on the Q10 is like from the dawn of Symbian. Really basic and stupid. Why can't I manage the profiles like on 9900 or the older ones even?
    - I will not even touch the way this Q10 copies text with the touch screen. I will start using bad language and it is not nice.
    - One last thing: If you make BBM users from nonBlackberry OS to pay extra for this app, you will sign off the death sentence of your poor company. I warned you
Lett me know if I can recover any of my mails. You must have a copy in Slough, UK.
    Regards,

It takes a while for a new OS to mature, just take a look at the first iPhone (no cut & paste among other missing features), the first android (no attachment in messages among other missing features) and perhaps you can look at it from a different perspective.
Version 10.2 fixes a few of the problems you have mentiodn and there are apps on the market for some of the others.
I myself think that BB10 is quite an achievement and if allowed to mature will be seen as the OS to copy not derise.
If you've been helped click on , if you've been saved buy the app.

  • Two components do PublishedStaticFiles over the same file, who wins?

    Hi,
    I use UCM 11G PS4.
Does anyone knows how PublishedStaticFiles is working, I know it publish
    resources into the weblayout/resources/wcm/custom.
But does anyone knows what happens if two components try to publish same file?
I will expect that Content Server to merge the 2 published files into one
    depending by loadOrder.
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between PublishedStaticFiles and PublishedWeblayoutFiles?
    Regards,
    Cipi

The PublishedStaticFiles and PublishedWeblayoutFiles tables are essentially the same thing, in that they both define where to publish in the Weblayout folder/directory. However, PublishedStaticFiles is used to publish static items like images, while PublishedWeblayoutFiles is generally used to publish dynamic items like layouts. When you're in the config manager, the "Publish static layout files" and "Publish dynamic layout files" publish those tables, respectively. A brief overview can be read on Kyle's post.
As far as merging published files, no, that is not possible. The Content Server publishes all component files, but if any have the same file name, the component with the bigger (higher) loadOrder will "win" and its file will override the other.
For instance, in the .hda file of the component you want to be loaded, you'll have:
    @ResultSet MergeRules
    4
    fromTable
    toTable
    column
    loadOrder
SSOPublishedStaticFiles <-- your table that defines where in the weblayout directory you want to publish your files to
    PublishedStaticFiles
    null
500 <--loadOrder (set the value to something big like 500)

  • Should @Override apply to implementation of interface/abstract methods?

To me this is a minor but irritating incompatibility between Java 5 and 6. In 5 the @Override annotation only applied when an actual concrete method was overridden. In 6 it also applies when an interface or abstract method is implemented.
To my mind only the first case is actually overriding. Further the purpose of the @Override, AFAIKS, is to catch errors where you accidentally override a method, or write a method which you expect to override another, but get the signature wrong.
This kind of error isn't going to happen on implementing a method because you will get a real syntax error.
If we were going to use annotations to guarantee implementation it should be @Implements

Having spend some time recently changing from extending abstract classes to implementing interfaces I would hate to have two different annotations! It would be annoying, yes, in that case, but it would still be more "technically" correct to have a different tag. And, if we are going to insist that "newbies" here at least attempt to adhere to standards/procedures/whatever, we should be willing to do the same. ;-)It would be more "technically" correct to have an 'override' key word in the same way as in C# . The annotation approach is used to make up for a deficiency in the language specification. If one applies the KISS principle or the 'principle of least surprise' then just having one annotation makes sense.Okay then, we agree to disagree. But getting even farther away in the "use" of the term as opposed to the "definition" of the term isn't helping to make up for the deficiency in the language.
Of course, in the practical sense it is better to have one as it is, then, least likely to "break" in a backwards compatability sense (even when it only applies to compilation and not execution).

  • Win Server 2003 GPO doesn't apply to Win 8.1 clients

    Hi guys,
Currently all my DCs are running Win Server 2003. Recently I've upgraded a few PCs to Win 8.1 and found out that the GPOs are not applied on them.
I've set the Default Homepage and logon script to map a few drives but when I logged on to the Win 8.1 clients, none of these are being applied. However, when I logged on to Win 7 clients, these policies are being applied.
Appreciate you guys here can help me on this.
    Thanks!!

Windows 8.1 comes with IE11 which can't be configured by the old IE maintenance policies. You would need to use group policy preferences but these were introduced in Windows 2008 so I don't think you can configure IE settings for IE11 from Windows 2003 DC's.
As for the mapping of drives if this is a login script I don't see why this wouldn't work on a windows 8.1 client.
Can you run a gpresult / rsop report on the windows 8 computer and see what policies are being applied / not applied and any errors.

  • Override textframes who are only on the pasteboard and not on a page

    Hello together
with Applescript it is possible ot override certain elements who are on a page which are coming from a master spread. But how to override frames which are not on a page but only on the pageboard?
Until now my solution is to place these elements on the page and after they override command to move them out to the pasteboard :-/
    Michael

@xtraMike1 – in InDesign's UI you can override the right square in Jongware's screenshots by cmd + shift + click (Mac OS).
    Also in scripting.
    Example:
    1. The object to override is at least part of the bleed area (or the info area)
    2. I can identify it as pageItem by its ID (in my example here: 212)
I like to override it on page 1.
The following JavaScript (ExtendScript) will do that.
Sorry for no AppleScript code example from me.
    app.documents[0].pageItems.itemByID(212).override(app.documents[0].pages[0]);
InDesign CS5.5 (v7.5.3) on Mac OSX 10.6.8 (all German).
    In screenshots:
    After executing the script snippet:
So the solution seems to be expanding the bleed or info area and then override the object.

  • May I remove without any risk the two recovery partitions in win 8.1 Pro 64bit and what is the hidden reserved partition?

I have this partition situation on my unic disc C & D for Windows 8.1 Pro at 64bits (see fig. 1)
and this is the same list from diskpart:
My first question is: may I remove partitions 1 and 5 without any risk?
My second question is what is the reserved partition 3 and why is not mentioned in Disc Manager?
Thanks for your help and excuse if the images are in Italian but I'am using an Italian OS.

I am not entirely convinced about your answer.
Yes the first partition of 800 MB may be the OEM original partition, (by ASUS containing Win 8.0) that I upgraded with a disk to Windows 8.0 Pro, and than upgraded to Win 8.1 Pro from Windows Store.
Now I made a full backup image of factory settings (win 8.0) on a USB key and now, after the upgrade to win 8.0 pro and then to win 8.1 this backup copy is useless.
The second partition is a system EFI partition and because the disk is a GPT basic disk and not a MBR, that partition is where (is that correct?) are system and boot info together with the hidden reserved third partition.
About the fourth recovery partition I suppose it was created when I created and installed Win 8.1 Preview on a VHD disk with double booting menu (that I deleted after the release of Windows 8.1).
This is why I asked if the two recovery partitions can be safely removed.
So, with this more info, may you review you answer and confirm or give me more details about all.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Is it possible to have two fonts apply to one string? or use symbols amongst normal font?

    Hi,
Is it possible to apply two different fonts to one string, or use symbols amongst normal font? My purpose is to display an Omega symbol after some number.
    ".99982 Ω" or "-180 φ"
    I am using version 6.0,
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's not possible to use differnt fonts in the same text control (string, text message, text box, listbox...) or in the label for any control.
An alternative solution can be to use a font that natively includes the letters / symbols you need. Within CVI 6 native fonts you can use NISystemMetaFont which includes uppercase omega letter together with other commonly used greek letters (and uppercase / lowercase alphabet and numbers, of course  ).
In charmap the font is seen as NISYSTEM: with that program you can see all characters included in the font file and select / copy each of them to paste in CVI controls if you need it.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • How do I give credit for right answers to two of you who helped?

    Dear Hunt and Steve G,
Both of you have helped me on my two intial posts and I want to make sure you both got credit for right answers. Can I do this?

At present, there are three possible awards for help:
There are two 5pt "Helpful" answers, and one 10pt "Correct" answer.
The latter also marks the question as "Answered," but the OP can do that, without awarding any points to anyone.
Personally, the most important of these functions is the "Answered" as it will indicate to others, who might have the same, or similar problem, that an answer exists in the thread. I always urge posters to return to their threads, with updates, and a report on what worked for them, even if that resolution came from another forum. The forum functions on a couple of levels: one posts with a problem, and hopefully gets resolution. Next, others will come, search and find something similar to their problem, and an possibly read the answer in the existing thread, and never need to post. Third, many, myself included, come to the forums to learn something, so a thread on a problem that I have never experienced, or about material that I have never used, or workflows that I have never experienced, can teach me new things.
As for "rewards," most of us do, what we do, to help others, and that is the reward. A "thank you, that worked," is what motivates us. Any points are lagniappe.

  • SCOM Console: Override display is not valid when Windows7 display is 'large'

Hi. I changed my Windows 7 display to large font (150%) and then found that if I tried to overrride a rule for an object in SCOM 2012 console I got a weird display, nothing like the usual one. When I changed my display to medium (125%) the override
    displays correctly.
I thought I'd post this because I spent a while deleting profiles, re-installing SCOM console etc. before I figured it out. Might help someone else...

Same issue here. I'm afraid this is by design.
Only thing you can do is change your font size back to 100% and change your display resolution or open a remote desktop connection into a SCOM management server and work from there.
It's doing common things uncommonly well that brings succes. Check out my SCOM link blog:

  • Custom Managed Folder - multiple content settings. Who wins?

I have the following content settings in a Managed Folder Mailbox Policy (non-applicable settings not listed):
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note after one year
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
Custom folder "Foo" where retention is disabled (so anything may be saved longer than a year)
As expected nothing is removed from the Custom Folder. Let's say I want to delete Conversation Histories after seven days in the hold folder. It is as easy as an additional content setting for the Foo folder and it will look something like this:
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note after one year
Entire Mailbox delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
Custom folder "Foo" where retention is disabled (so anything may be saved longer than a year)
Custom folder "Foo" delete IPM.Note.Microsoft.Conversation after seven days
I obviously only want Conversation Histories deleted from the Foo folder and nothing else. Thx.

    Hello PNutts,
In GEneral, there are two types of Managed folder:Managed default folders and Managed custom folders.
Managed default folders   Managed default folders are managed folder objects created for default folders such as Inbox, Deleted Items, Sent Items, and others. Exchange 2010 Setup creates a set of managed default folders. You can
use these folders or create additional ones for different sets of users.
Managed custom folders   Managed custom folders are managed folder objects you can use to create custom folders in a user's mailbox. The folders are created under a top-level folder called Managed Folders.
For your question, as Entire mailbox belongs to Managed default folders. Therefore, the content setting for managed custom folders will apply to the custom folders. And the content setting for entire mailbox will only apply to the default folders such as
    Inbox.
Should you have any other question or concern, feel free to let us know.

  • Gmail filters vs. Mail Inbox Rules: Who wins?

I have both Gmail filters and Apple Inbox Rules. If both Gmail and Apple Mail are running, whose filter runs first?

    mdh98368 wrote:
If both Gmail and Apple Mail are running ...
I believe this part of your question is irrelevant.  For "both Gmail and Apple Mail to be running", it sounds like you're talking about running two separate, independent, but possibly conflicting apps on your Mac.  If that's what you're doing, you should shut one of them down.
The normal series of events would be that incoming email would hit your gmail account (out there on the web) and your gmail filters would be applied at that time.  Then, the gmail server would send the incoming message to your Apple Mail, which would apply its rules at that time.  This assumes you have your gmail account set up in the Apple Mail app.
