Scope Express Vi Bugged?

Hello,
i am working with Labview 8.5 under Vista. New drivers etc.
Following big problem did arise:
I used the Scope Express VI to read the 2 channels of a NI-PCI-5211. Actually this VI works perfektly if i open the panel and make test measurements. But if i close this VI-panel the settings als on an old status. So eg. changing sample rates or input settings is not possible.
It even came worse: I did creat a new -white- vi just with a new scope express VI. I did open this vi, make all settings as i need it and the test runnings inside this panel are ok (Signals etc is perfect). But if i close this VI it does even not show up an connector for signal etc. It seems not to compile the settings into the express vi. So the Express VI icon is without any connector....
Is this bug known? What to do to fix that? Please help, i wanted to finish my PhD Thesis with the last measurements and everything else is working... but this Express vi not.. .
yours
Ulrich

Problem solved
If you import the scope express vi from 8.2 (i have moved this vi manually via copy and paste out of another 8.2 vi) you get this problem...
Repairing the labview installation solves that issue. i did repeat this 2 times now.

    I'll take a stab at cleaning this up. This is a collection of postings, reported as bugs, but not really bugs or difficult to understand/reproduce. These were filed in the Database General forum and they should have been filed in the XE forum.
    Firstly, thank you for taking the time to report these issues and suspected issues. In the future, it would be quite helpful to everyone if you reported these in the XE forum.
    1. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
    This is not a bug. The developer toolbar will show when you are authenticated to the development environment. You do not have to be authenticated to your application for the developer toolbar to appear.
    2. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
    If data is present in the cache, this is up to the application developer (you) to implement the proper security which prevents this behavior.
    3. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition  Bugs
    This is a minor issue, at best. For this type of search interface, it is desirable to perform a case-insensitive query. Wouldn't it be a shame if you searched for "item" and it did not return results that contained "Item".
    4. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
    This is not a bug. Different authentication schemes have different data restrictions. It is up to you, the application developer, to easily implement the data validations appropriate for your application.
    5. Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Bugs
    Insufficient information provided. You will have to specify what exact error message is arising and what data you changed which resulted in this error. A complete step-by-step test case is desirable, please.

    Duplicate of #5 above. And still insufficient information.

    Not a bug. This is intentional behavior. If I know I want to enter table name EMP, it would be bad from a usability standpoint to always force the user to employ their mouse.

  • NI-scope disconnect routing BUG??

    I use a 5922 synced with a 6652 and a 5124.
    running the task I want to tried to route the start trigger to the PFI0 or PFI1 , however routing NONE to PFI0 or PFI1 doesn't seems to disconnect the routing.
    I attached a simple vi for test. One additional cable to monitor the PFIs mini DIN output to a scope is needed
    choose the 5922, run the vi,
    hit read (some samples are taken)
    activate PFI0 button (START TRIGGER is routed to PFI0)
    hit read (see the trigger pulse on the PFI0)
    deactivate PFI0 button (NONE is routed to PFI0)
    hit read ( uups, trigger pulse still there)
    Is this a BUG or how do I disconnect the start trigger signal from the PFIs without loosing my sync?

    Henrik,
    I see the problem, your code does work the way you described, but how you are attempting to unset the FPI lines in incorrect.  In the documentation for niScope Export Signal it states "To unprogram a specific line on a device, call this VI with the signal you no longer want to export and set output terminal to None."
    In your code, you are writing  you are writing Start Trigger to PFI0, which enables PFI0 export of the Start Trigger.  To undo this, you need to write Start Trigger to None (not PFI0).  You are writing "none" to the wrong input of the vi.
    Attached is a copy of your VI that correctly unset's the PFI routing.
    I hope this helps!

  • Express Install Bug - work around

    I think the Express Install has a bug. If you have one .swf
    on your page, and it is either outside of the user's view or the
    flash dimensions are much larger than the user's resolution, the
    express install prompt appears outside of the user's view. All the
    user sees is a darknened screen.
    My resolution during express install is to get the user's
    resoluion using Javascript and scroll the window or move the flash
    as necessary. This is a pain.
    I just reported a Bug/feature request that will have the
    install prompt appear in the center of the user's window, rather
    than the center of the flash.
    Any one got a better workaround to this problem?

    I had to put the image onto every slide in power point, then
    RE import it. You can put the image onto every slide in PPT easily
    - apparently this is just a bug, and there is now way around it.
    that is what I heard.

  • Expressions editing bug (os x)

    Hi there
    when editing an expression, whenever using copy/paste, or dragging a selection to reposition it in the expression, after exiting the editing some of the text disappears.
    if valid, the expression actually works, but i can see only a portion of the text.
    when attempting to re-edit the affected expression, the "invisible" portion is lost forever.
    this has been going on for quite a while.
    so far i have learnt that the problem lies with the use of line-breaks, i.e. whenever the section i moved or pasted includes a line break, all text below it would disappear.
    this makes the re-editing of any expression very tedious (avoiding the reordering of lines which include the line-breaks).
    running cs5 (AE 10.0.2.4) on mac os x 10.6.8.
    any idead or solutions?
    thanks,

  • Repost: Use Page-scope expressions in Value expressions

    Dear Adam Winer and expert group,
    I woud like to repost my problem. I had posted this in an earlier thread today. The issue that I would
    like to raise is regarding being able to use page-scoped beans in value expressions. I am trying to
    port some screens from Struts to JSF. Struts allows you to assign page-scoped beans to its input
    components. Adam Winer, you have been very helpful to me. I hope this issue can be solved.
    Thanks,
    Ajay
    Dear Adam Winer,
    I must admit that I am not able to understand your post properly. It is certainly because I have not
    properly understood the JSF architecture properly as yet.
    JSF automatically shows model bean values in the browser, and takes user input back into the model bean.
    But it would be nice to have the following scenario to work out....
    1. The JSP assigns the (initial) value to the JSF component.
    2. This value is displayed in the browser.
    3. When the user submits the form, the value goes to the model bean.
    Your post seems to indicate that the above is not possible. Could there not be any architectural
    workaround to make this possible ?
    Your post also seems to indicate that it is not possible to use an action from within a <c:forEach>.
    The following could also be perhaps ok (if it doesnt cause some other problem).
    <h:input_text initValue="#{pageScopeBean.someValue}" value="#{someBean.someValue}"><f:parameter initValue="#{status.count}" value="#{DataTable.selectedIndex}" />
    Perhaps, the expert team can come up with some brilliant solution. I am really keen.
    Ajay
    P.S ("Delayed execution", "Immediate execution", "does not exist on subsequent requests" are presently
    Greek and Latin to me.)
    No, that's not really possible, and it's not because
    we didn't try!
    "#{}" syntax means "evaluate this later". It has to
    mean that, for lots of reasons, including the need to
    evaluate these values on subsequent requests, and to
    evaluate these values repeatedly when a repeater
    component (like data_table) renders its output.
    Obviously, pageScope.status.count won't exist on
    subsequent requests, so that bit is hopeless. But it
    won't necessarily even work in the middle of the page,
    because there's no guarantee that the value of that
    <f:parameter> will only be used during the execution
    of <c:forEach>.
    We'd considered adding support for both delayed
    execution - "#{}" - and immediate execution - "${}" on
    JSF attributes, which would enable an example like
    this, but decided not to, for two reasons. First, it
    would be very confusing. Second, it actually opened a
    small security hole to do so that can't be solved
    without changes to the JSP EL architecture.
    -- Adam Winer (EG member)

    Dear Adam Winer,
    I read your post again and understood what you mean by "delayed execution" and "immediate execution".
    I am sorry, I think I read your post too quickly and hence didnt compherehend it.
    Please let me know if you think an alternative syntax such as
    <h:input_text initValue="#{pageScopeBean.someValue}" value="#{myBean.someValue}"/>Perhaps, this is not so different from the "#{}" and "${}" syntax that was discussed in the expert group.
    I am trying to imagine why a security loop-hole could be caused. If Struts doesnt have any problem
    getting values from a page-scoped bean, why does JSF have the problem ?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Logic 7.2 express bounce bug

    When I bounce a short track of 10 seconds or so 1 out of 15 have extra sound at the end of the bounced aif file. When I try to delete the extra sound and rebounce the aif file for some reason the end remains unchanged.
    I was using an iBook 800mhz but now am using a MacBook Pro with the same Logic program and I'm still having this problem. I have to give the soundfiles to a colleague and have him trim the ends in ProTools to solve this problem.
    Thanks.

    Logic treats Rewire channels as MONO channels.
    To use 2 Rewire channels in stereo you have to set 2 Audio channels panned one extreme left and the other extreme right and select into the 2 left panes the desired Reason output channels.
    Logic 7.2 introduces Rewire stereo channels but, in reality, it's just ONE stereo channel......
    Select an audio track and in the left pane choose Rewire Reason RW:MixL;
    then click the mono/stereo button in the channel strip (under the level meter).
    Now you have a Rewire stereo channel from Reason audio out 1/2.
    If you need more channels you'll have to set them as mono couples.
    Each channel will act as a Logic audio channel with inserts and sends.
    cheers

  • NI SCOPE issues with program

    I originally had a program that used cursors on a pulse signal to calculate the average of two different gates, and find the difference between them. It worked at one point when I was using the NI SCOPE express VI, but when I tried switching to the real NI SCOPE using Multi Record, due to efficiency issues, I ran into some bugs that I need some help with. The main issue is that one of the pair of gates(cursors) is not getting averaged, but the first one is. Because of this, the program will not find the difference.The issue may be because I had to switch from using a signal to using a waveform with the property node. If anyone could provide any sort of assistance, that would be great!

  • Ho w to file bug in this forum

    Hi,
    Please provide me the link, where I could file bug on Solaris-11-express OS.

    bugs.opensolaris.org taps into the internal Sun bug tracking system so bugs opened there are indeed monitored (as I routinely discover through new bug reports and monitoring of old requests). If you try to submit a bug/RFE today, it lets you select up to snv_174 (Solaris 11 Express is currently snv_151a).
    The support channels only work for people with a support contract. For the others covered by the OTN license, which allows testing, prototyping and development, I guess bugs.opensolaris.org will have to do it. On the other hand, most people doing these activities usually have a support contract anyway.
    It's not clear to me what's the path that a bug submited through MOS follows for Solaris 11 Express. I know for a fact that any bugs opened at bug.opensolaris.org get quickly triaged and handled by an Oracle engineer.

  • Data acquisition from NI PXI 5152 using LabVIEW

    Hi,
        This might be really stupid question, I am new to LabVIEW and the Digitizer equipment. I was wondering if there are already any labVIEW based application available to read the data from PXI5152. I would be using both channels available and may be trigger. If there is no such application available, what would be port numbers I would be using for data acquisition. But, If I am to develop an acquisition software, I would be looking at every single specification of the equipment. I am assuming the output will be a digitized signal varying with the clock input, since It is used as oscilloscope. When working with labview how would I specify the port to read from and how would my PC recognize the port. I working on a pre-configured system and they won't let me unplug anything to check the configuration. Does NI provides a software to read into the signal fed into the channel and trigger inputs. I have tried looking into the different forum discussion but didn't find any that address my issue. May be it's too simple and stupid. But, it would be a great help if you could point out my misunderstanding.
    Thanks in advance.

    There are numerous examples. Help>Find Examples> Modular Instruments>Ni-Scope. There is a test panel available in MAX. On the Measurement I/O>NI-Scope palette, are all of the driver functions includeing the NI-Scope Express.
    I'm not quite sure I understand your references to 'port's. Once installed into the chassis, it should be listed in MAX. In the functions you will be using, there will be a dropdown menu that you will be able to select the scope resource name.

    Shouichi,
    Adding to Scott--After the 1230 family, you don't really need the upgrade tool anymore because the newer APs all come with Manufacturer Installed Certificates (MICs), which is something a lot of the older 1230s didn't have (some did, some didn't).
    One of the main functions of the Upgrade Tool is to generate an SSC on older APs without MICs and then store the key hash for installation into the controller so that the AP can join. (You can even do this without the tool, but it can get pretty labor intensive if you're doing it manually on the AP CLI.)
    The other nice feature of the Upgrade Tool is its batching capability, but you can do this pretty simply with a Windows CLI, CatTools, or scripted within most of the popular terminal apps.
    While it's a decent effort by Cisco to make converting APs a bit easier, unless I'm working on 1230s, I try to avoid the Upgrade Tool as I've found it likes to express its bugs at exactly the wrong moments.

  • How to track rows'  histtory?

    Hi all,
    I would link to track changes made onto some columns to have a complete history of changes made.
    I know I can use triggers to populate my own ad-hoc tables, and Oracle Workspace can (automatically ?) track these changes.
    Which way is the more convenient? Would workspace manager be too much resource-consuming?
    Should I look to something different?
    Thanks in advance,
    andrea

    The impact of Workspace Manager is probably on par with the impact of a custom trigger solution, maybe a bit more if you're doing a lot of full scans of the tables. It's quite reasonable for most OLTP apps, though.
    On the other hand, the result strikes me as far more useful than either DB_EXTENDED auditing or custom triggers. Having millions upon millions of records of changes to dozens or hundreds of tables in a single table in the SYS schema makes any sort of data analysis incredibly difficult. Answering questions like "What was the customer's address and all their open orders at 3:35 PM two weeks ago when the order processing system assessed their discount and sales tax?" is quite tedious with that sort of layout. Pretty quickly, you get into a situation where your auditing is useless because there is no practical way to extract the signal from the noise. Maintaining a bunch of custom triggers and history tables, keeping them structurally in sync with the source table is a pain-- you inevitably forget to add a column to the history table when it gets added to the main table at some point. You often end up writing a framework to manage the history that Workspace Manager already provides-- you want to purge some but not all historical data (i.e. keep year end data forever, month end data for 5 years, and transaction level detail for 1 year). And with custom triggers, unlike Workspace Manager, you don't have the ability to have a session pretend it's a year and a half ago and run a particular function, which is invaluable when you're trying to chase down the scope of a bug that's been affecting production data for a period of time.

  • CLK IN NI PXI 5922

    Hi,
    I'm using a 5922 digitizer with clk input and i have a problem.
    My problem is simple: I could not phase lock to the external reference clock.
    My CLK IN signal is a -250 mv:+250 mv square signal at 2Mhz (from low frequency generator) (this signal match with the spec).
    My ch 0 signal is a random signal according to the spec range.
    When i use Ni-Scope Express in LabView, my parameters are :
    -> Range 2V
    -> Coupling AC
    -> Offset 0
    -> input impedance 50 Ohm
    -> Probe attenuation 1
    -> Bandwith 0
    -> Sample rate 2M
    -> Record length 1000
    -> N samples
    -> Trigger type Edge
    -> trigger source External trig
    -> slope Positive
    -> Coupling DC
    -> Ref position 0%
    -> Level 0V
    -> Max time 10s
    -> Delay 0s
    -> Reference clock source : clock in
    My error is :
    "DAQmx Error -200245 occured
    Measurements : PLL could not phase lock to the external reference clock.
    Make sure your reference clock is connected and that it is within the jitter and voltage spec...."
    Dont care about external trigger, it work fine !
    I'm also using a NI example : niScope EX external clocking (i was just changing sample clock timebase source & rate by ref clock source & rate) and it dont work too.
    and there is no signal on CLK OUT at any time.
    What can i do, i'm locked with this problem ?
    Thanks !

    Hi,
    For example 60 MHz / 32 = 1.875 MHz is a sampling frequency (into the 5922) and i really need to be synchronize with my external clock  (so, not in intern).
    Im now investigate on an alternative clk in (1Mhz or 2Mhz)  and i try to fix some problems like "PLL was unlocked" when i use my new clk and an edge trigger or " this device does not support RIS", ...
    Its a little fastidious cause of parameters i have to take care.
    But the main important thing on my work is the voltage precision.
    In 20 bits, i have an important difference between two values for the same voltage input (verified by a scope) -> approx. 30 mV.
    For a 0 : +250 mV signal with a 1 mV noise, its annoying !
    Maybe, the antialiasing filter into the card is a problem for my measure.
    Thanks for helping me, its not simple to drive this card for what i want !
    ps : tomorrow i will post my VI.

    Hi Slugger,
    Can you first try this with the SCOPE Soft Front Panel (SFP) located in Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-SCOPE >> NI-SCOPE Soft Front Panel.
    This should give you the screen below:
    Please set the items as seen in the red boxes. Make sure your trigger channel is correct Mode is set to SGL and press the measure button.
    This will give you a Scope measurement screen. Please press the Add button. Select the correct Channel and then in the measurement type choose "Period".
    On the main SFP window press the run button. Does the measurement give you the reading you expect?
    I do not have a Scope card to test this yet, so I have been using a simulated device.
