  • Some Query Regarding SAP NetWeaver Features

    Hi friends,
        Can u give me some simple questions answers regarding NetWeaver :
    1> What is the oldest and latest versions of NetWeaver and in which SAP versions it runs ?
    2> Whether we can write Report(Type 1) or Module Pool (Type M) programs in NetWeaver ?
    3> Will we only see the NetWeaver output in Browser ( like this SDN Community Network ) or can view the output also through SAPGUI.
    4> What is current scope of NetWeaver for Job prospect against SAP ABAP?
    5> The basic type of works handled by NetWeaver ?
    6> And whether it a different module in SAP like SD, MM , or new programming environment like ABAP, or SAP new technology like BW ?
    Please reply back to me.
    Thanks & Regards,

    3.no can u brief ur question ,as my point of view this seems to be different  u cant view those things in SAGUI
    4.can u brief the question
    5.Netweaver is the concept merging the things with Java ,a netweaver has two stacks as ABAP and as JAVA ,java engine looks for the development environment for the portals and it acts along with the ABAP stack as a frontend web pages to connect the r/3 as the backend -Refer this note no:864172

    Hi,
    I had the same problem, but i didn't get any answer in that forum.
    I deinstalled the SAP Software (regard the end of the threat
    https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=22036513&messageID=6625975) and then I installed the software again. Then the system ran and i didn't have any more problems with the message server.
    I didn't installed the MS Loopback Adapter, because i am connected to a network.
    Best regards,
    Günther Klee

  • Printing of views without Netweaver 2004s (Solution 2)

    Hallo,
    after writing my post concerning a printing solution before NetWeaver2004s (Solution 1),
    i will also share my knowledge concerning my own printing solution developed inside Web Dynpro.
    The following example should only demonstrate how an implementation of a print renderer can be done
    inside Web Dynpro while you can take influence of the generated output.
    I had to develop the possibility of printing some views including some head infos and table data.
    The application is localized into six languages.
    First i had a look at Adobe Document Services, but it is quite uncomfortable using table output
    (it seems to be better supported in NetWeaver 2004s), but the problems resists in the localized labels.
    You have to implement each lable also as an computed attribute to use it inside Adobe or
    you have to copy the template for each language and translate it beside the xlf files.
    I needed a solution that does not generate additional needs to print views.
    So i decided to write an own PrintRendererClass using the Runtime view and the mapped context.
    The following szenario should only demonstrate how you can archieve such a solution.
    The Solution needs two Context attributes:
    <b>ViewPrinter</b> (holds the reference to the renderer class)
    <b>ViewPrinterURL</b> (String that receives an URL handle for using inside a LinkToURL control)
    The instantiation of the class takes place inside the wdDoModifyView:
    public static void wdDoModifyView(IPrivateDetailsView wdThis, IPrivateDetailsView.IContextNode wdContext,
         com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDView view, boolean firstTime) {
    //@@begin wdDoModifyView
    if (firstTime) {
         ViewPrinter vprt = wdContext.currentContextElement().getViewPrinter();
         vprt = new ViewPrinter(view, wdContext, WDClientUser.getLoggedInClientUser().getLocale());
         vprt.setTitle(vprt.getTextById("Headline"));
         vprt.addGroup("GroupCustomerorder");
         vprt.addTable("TablePositions");
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setViewPrinterURL(vprt.render());
    //@@end
    The RendererClass is only a framework for a big StringBuffer (xml) that uses methods to add
    addtional output content to the string and finally generates a dynamic xhtml file.
    The URL handle is returned at the end via vprt.render() and stored in the context attribute.
    Inside the view you can use a LinkToURL control mapped to this context attribute,
    which opens a new window with the generated xhtml file.
    The most interessting parts are addGroup(uielementid) and addTable(uielementid).
    The addGroup searches for a uielement with the given id and iterates through all entries.
    For all found labels and their binded values output code will be added:
    public void addGroup(String id) {
         // open group
         xml.append("<fieldset>");
         IWDGroup group = (IWDGroup) view.getElement(id);
         // get group header text
         String legend = group.getHeader().getText();
         xml.append("<legend>" + legend + "</legend>");
         // trace all elements
         for (Iterator iter = group.iterateChildren(); iter.hasNext();) {
              IWDUIElement uiEl = (IWDUIElement) iter.next();
              if (uiEl instanceof IWDLabel) {
                   xml.append("<div>");
                   this.addLabelWithValue(uiEl.getId());
                   xml.append("</div>");
         // close group
         xml.append("</fieldset>");
    For each found label the label and binded text should be printed out:
    public void addLabelWithValue(String id) {
         // find given label (with value)
         IWDLabel lbl = (IWDLabel) view.getElement(id);
         if (lbl!=null) {
              xml.append("<label for="" + lbl.getLabelFor() + "">" +
                   encodeHTML(lbl.getText(),true) + ": </label>");
              // find corresponding value
              IWDTextView txt = (IWDTextView) view.getElement(lbl.getLabelFor());
              if (txt!=null) {
                   xml.append("<span id="" + lbl.getLabelFor() + "">" +
                        encodeHTML(txt.getText(),true) + "</span>");
    The most interesting part is the generic output of a table:
    public void addTable(String id) {
         // find given table
         IWDTable table = (IWDTable) view.getElement(id);
         String tableBindedDataSource = table.bindingOfDataSource(); // node "Positions"
         xml.append("<fieldset>")
              .append("<legend>" + table.getHeader().getText() + "</legend>");
         xml.append("<table summary="")
              .append(table.getHeader().getText())
              .append("">");
         xml.append("<thead><tr>");
         // use iterator
         ArrayList cellAlign = new ArrayList();
         ArrayList cellId = new ArrayList();
         int nrUsedColumns = 0;
         for (Iterator iter = table.iterateColumns(); iter.hasNext();) {
              IWDTableColumn col = (IWDTableColumn) iter.next();
              // check column id against blacklist
              if (!blackList.contains(col.getId())) {
                   IWDTableCellEditor cellEditor = col.getTableCellEditor();
                   // casting for supported uiwidgets
                   String bindedColumnText = null;
                   if (cellEditor instanceof IWDTextView) {
                        IWDTextView txt = (IWDTextView) cellEditor;
                        bindedColumnText = txt.bindingOfText(); // "TABLE.ATTRIBUTE"
                   // add supported widgets to print
                   if (bindedColumnText != null) {
                        // remove leading TABLE prefix (use only ATTRIBUTE)
                        String textId = bindedColumnText.substring(bindedColumnText.lastIndexOf('.')+1);
                        // get column alignment
                        String colAlign = col.getHAlign().toString().toLowerCase();
                        String classAlign = (colAlign.equalsIgnoreCase("auto"))
                             ? "" : " class="" + colAlign + """;
                        xml.append("<th" + classAlign + " scope="col" abbr="" + col.getHeader().getText() + "">")
                             .append(col.getHeader().getText())
                             .append("</th>");
                        // make column values for table body available
                        cellAlign.add(nrUsedColumns, colAlign);
                        cellId.add(nrUsedColumns, textId);
                        nrUsedColumns++;
         xml.append("</tr></thead>");
         // print out table body
         xml.append("<tbody>");
         // table corresponding context node
         IWDNode node = ((IWDNode)wdContext).getContext().getRootNode().
              getCurrentElement().node().getChildNode(tableBindedDataSource, 0);
         int tableSize = node.size();
         IWDNodeElement nodeEl = null;
         for (int i = 0; i < tableSize; i++) {
              xml.append("<tr>");
              nodeEl = node.getElementAt(i);
              for (int col = 0; col < nrUsedColumns; col++) {
                   Object value = nodeEl.getAttributeValue(cellId.get(col).toString());
                   String classAlign = (cellAlign.get(col).toString().equalsIgnoreCase("auto"))
                        ? "" : " class="" + cellAlign.get(col).toString() + """;
                   xml.append("<td" + classAlign + ">"
                        + encodeHTML(this.getAttributeValue(value), true) + "</td>");
              xml.append("</tr>");
         xml.append("</tbody>");
         xml.append("</table>");
         xml.append("</fieldset>");
    [code]
    First we inspect all table columns to get the head labels and the used cell editors.
    There is also support for a black list to allow skipping of columns that should not be printed.
    Invisible columns are also printed, so you can add addtional table columns for printing that are
    disabled for the browser. Also the alignment of the cell editor will be supported.
    A second loop iterates over the table context depending the used columns.
    To get the formatted values concerning their datatype i use the method getAttributeValue,
    cause i think the formatting of mapped Context to the browser takes place in the deepest parts
    of the Web Dynpro Renderer Task and is not accessible via API.
    Therefore you have to implement formatters for all supported datatypes:
    [code]
    private String getAttributeValue(Object obj) {
         String txt = "";
         if (obj != null) {
              // String handling
              if (obj instanceof java.lang.String) {
                   txt = obj.toString();
              // Date handling
              } else if (obj instanceof java.sql.Date) {
                   DateFormat formater = DateFormat.getDateInstance(
                        DateFormat.SHORT, this.locale);
                   txt = formater.format(obj);
              // BigDecimal handling
              } else if (obj instanceof java.math.BigDecimal) {
                   DecimalFormat df =
                        (DecimalFormat)DecimalFormat.getInstance(this.locale);
                   df.applyPattern( "0.######" );
                   txt = df.format(obj);
              // Default Handling -> with debug output of Class Name
              } else {
                   txt = "<span class="pointer red" title="" + obj.getClass().getName() +
                        "">" + obj.toString() + "</span>";
         return txt;
    Here is the reason, why the class constructor needs a locale!
    I try to format the output concerning the portal user language.
    At the end you have to call the vprt.render() method to start creation of a new html ressource.
    The method returns the ressource url as a string which is binded to a LinkToUrl control.
    That's it.
    The above solution only fullfills my needs concerning the project. I implemented only the
    needed methods to print out groups and tables.
    The table renderer skips all table columns that are not IWDTextView.
    if you need addtional things like IWDProgressBar, you have to implement such a kind of renderer.
    The solution is a nice way to generate printable content of views with the following benefits
    Pro:
    - Print out is Locale/Language dependend (Text, Date, ...)
    - You can influence the print design via css
    - You can implement your own controll renderer (like decorators)
    - It works for SAP Net Weaver releases <= 2004s
    Cons:
    - To support all widgets, you have to implement them
      (controls/widgets are growing with new service packs)
    The functionallity shows how you can use the abstract api for iterating
    through view elements and their mapped context in a generic way.
    The solution is a plain structured class because i do not want to reimplement
    the whole Widgets API for printing a view (not in the scope/budget of our customers).
    If you are interessted in the working class file, please contact me.
    Maybe this helps someone who has to do similarly things inside Web Dynpro
    and does not want to reinvent the wheel.
    Best wishes,
    Holger Schaefer

    Hi Holger,
    This Solution helped me a lot. Thanks a lot.

  • Diff in SAP ECC 6.0 and Netweaver

    Hi Experts,
    I am working as SAP ABAP Consultant.
    I am new to SAP Netweaver with JAVA. I want to Learn SAP with JAVA also.
    Can any one tell me whether the SAP 6.0 is used for SAP NetWeaver developement with java
    or it needs some more than SAP ECC 6.0 for ABAP.
    Which java is used mostly in SAP?
    How to start learn JAVA for SAP?
    Awaiting helpful reply
    Thanks In  advance,
    Dhanu

    Hi Dhananjay,
    The SAP NetWeaver Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) defines the runtime environment both for Java- and ABAP-based applications in SAP NetWeaver. We refer to the Java-related parts of the server as SAP NetWeaver AS Java. The main part of SAP NetWeaver AS Java is the SAP J2EE Engine, a complete runtime system that can host applications in compliance with the J2EE 1.3 standard.
    The SAP J2EE Engine supports all the techniques that became popularized by J2EE - JavaServer Pages, servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), etc. - so that applications can be ported with minimal effort to SAP NetWeaver AS Java. However, SAP NetWeaver AS Java offers additional functionality on top of what is required in the J2EE 1.3 standard.
    Where should I store database tables of my combined ABAP/Java system?
    The important information here is: Please keep the database storage of your Java- and ABAP-based components separate:
    ABAP components access database tables stored in the “ABAP” database schema.
    Java components access database data stored in the “Java” database schema.
    Best, there is one database instance keeping both ABAP and Java schemas, namely the database instance that is already pre-configured during the SAP Web AS installation.
    Can my Java program modify data in the ABAP database schema?
    The important constraint is: In general, Java components do not access tables stored in the ABAP schema directly, via persistence APIs (for example, JDBC). Analogously, ABAP components cannot manipulate data in the Java schema.
    Don’t worry: Of course, Java components can read or modify data in the ABAP schema. But rather than accessing table data directly, they are intended to go around: In the Java code, you apply the application-level APIs (like SAP Java Resource Adapter API, web services, Adaptive RFC for Web Dynpro UIs) and ask the ABAP component to do the work on the database.
    Can I integrate Java and ABAP components in the scope of an application?
    Of course, you can combine Java and ABAP components in your systems. There are several technologies enabling reliable data exchange between them, like SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo), SAP Java Resource Adapter (SAP JRA), web services, and SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) to name some.
    The below link helps u in understanding the connectors of java and sap.
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5c6a85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/content.htm]
    Using the SAP Java Connector
    SAP’s new Java middleware, the SAP Java Connector (JCO) allows customers and partners to easily build SAP-enabled components in Java. JCO supports both inbound (Java calls ABAP) and outbound (ABAP calls Java) calls in desktop and server applications.
    In this Sample Program we connect to SAP and call two BAPIs.
    Import statements: Any program using JCO should contain the following import statement:
    import com.sap.mw.jco.*;
    Otherwise, you have to fully qualify each class and interface which is very inconvenient.
    Connecting to SAP
    JCO.Client mConnection;
    A connection (or session) with SAP is handled by class JCO.Client
    try {
    mConnection =
    JCO.createClient("400", // SAP client
    "c3026902", // userid
    "********", // password
    "EN", // language
    "iwdf5020", // host name
    "00"); // system number
    mConnection.connect();
    catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
    "A Client object is created via a call to createClient(). You can use a specific application server (as in the above code) or a server group (load balancing)." REFER the JCO Javadoc for the overloaded createClient() method for the latter possibility.
    "The Client class's connect () method tries to log on to SAP. If that fails for any reason, an exception is thrown. If the call succeeds, we can now stay connected for as long as we like. When we are done, we can call disconnect () to explicitly log off."
    Thankyou
    Regards.

  • SAP Netweaver Architect Document and its place in SDLC

    Hi All,
    I am looking forward to look at a sample SAP Netweaver Architect Documument or a Template and want to understand the scope and all details included in the perview of this document.
    I understand that Tech Architect Document will be prepared in SDLC after the blueprint is generated.
    And a Tech Architect document has the entire landscape integration details along with Non Functional details like performance , scalability etc.
    Can some one please send a sample Technical Architect Document based on SAP Netweaver ( Portal ) and explain where does it commence in SDLC .
    Many Thanks,
    Richa

    Hi Richa,
    a good place to start would be the Master Guide to NW 7.4 SR1 on SAP Market Place which is here.
    The guide goes through everything for planning a NW installation including of course Portal and planning the Landscape design and architectura questions.
    Best regards,

  • Web Services in MDM scope

    Hi Experts
    Can you please let me know the use of WEB services and the scope of it in MDM.
    Regards
    Vickey

    Hi Vickey,
    Web services represent a self-contained subset of application functionality allowing different applications from different sources to communicate with each other without time-consuming custom coding.  Because all communication is in XML, Web services are not tied to any one operating system or programming language.
    As far as MDM is concern Web Service can retrieve multiple remote keys for multiple records from different tables for different remote systems. It is used to retrieve the results of MDMu2019s consolidation process. The result can be filtered by a remote system. The requested records can be identified by their:
    ●      Internal MDM key
    ●      External MDM key (value of the first display field)
    ●      Remote key
    and much more
    The MDM Web services can be used to:
    ●      Manage Master Data Objects
    ○       Existence check of a central master object before local creation
    ○       Retrieve details and create a local replicate
    ○       Create or update master data objects on MDM
    ●      Manage Unique Identifiers of Master Data Objects
    ○       Remote system registers local object as replicate of global object
    ○       Key mapping during message exchange on SAP NetWeaver XI
    Hope it helps.

  • ARIS vs. SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1

    Dear all,
    I would appreciate if you could help me to find out these questions:
    looks like some functionalities of these products are overlaping, so is SAP Netweaver CE replacing ARIS products? Are they are creating integration between these products?

    Your question has been asked by a lot of people on the TechEd in Berlin last Oct. I agree there are some overlapping functionalities, however I also think the scope of both products is rather different. Where ARIS can be used to create and manage an extensive overview and repository of all business processes in your business model and their relations, CE can be used to actually create executables, from your designed business processes. Besides this, I would say ARIS can be used in designing manual processes that are supported with system architecture were CE can be used to design processes that can be digitalised with at least manual steps as possible.

    Dear sandeep pande  ,
    BO was brought up by SAP and It will soon be included in SAP BI in next recent versions.SO its better to join BI. as it has more scope these days/
    YOu should know the advantages of BI over BO
    BO is the reporting toll of data warw house
    BI is itself a data ware house.
    the next generation SAP BI will be using BO as reporting tool instead of BeX.
    BO is the reporting toll of data warw house.
    on the front end it has CrystalReports.
    this suit will be used in SAP as front end for EIM.
    the latest version of BO is BO 11. 3.
    BI is itself a data ware house.
    the next generation SAP BI will be using BO as reporting tool instead of BeX.

  • WEBI 4.1 Scope of Analysis panel  is Disabled with OLAP Univers Connection

    Hello All,
    I am facing an Issue with Web intelligence 4.1 that the Scope of analysis panel is disabled although I have created a hierarchy in my OLAP universe connection but also it is disabled, so please there is any way to enable the scope of analysis panel and use hierarchy from OLAP universe connection this will solve my issues with drill down webi reports.
    BOBJ version is 4.1 and BW version is NetWeaver 7.4
    Please advice

    HI Tarek Badr.
    Unfortunately the Scope of Analysis Feature is not available for OLAP.It would be grayed out.
    The hierachies should be defined in the source system if you want the tree drill down like a parent child hierearchy..but if you just need drillling you can defined custom hierachies in the universe and use drilling in the report but u wont define the scope of analysis in any case..

  • SAP Netweaver Interest

    Hi,
    I am a certified functional consultant in SAP PP (Production Planning) and MM (Materials Management) Modules. I am learnt from internet that SAP will be concentrating more on Netweaver Technologies in the future. I would like to expand my knowledge horizon from SAP functional to SAP Netweaver. Please give your opinion about scope for functional consultants in SAP Netweaver Technologies.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Anant Joshi

    Hi Anant
    SAP XI has a wide scope and high values in market
    SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape:
    &#9679;     Modeling and design of messages, transformations, and cross-component integration processes
    &#9679;     Configuration options for managing collaborative processes and message flow
    &#9679;     Runtime for message and process management
    &#9679;     Adapter Engine for integrating heterogeneous system components
    &#9679;     Central monitoring for monitoring message flow and processes
    SAP XI supports internal company scenarios and cross-company scenarios.
