Score Increase after 12 months of no late payments?

I have some late payments that are going to be hitting the 1 year mark.  Will I see any score increase as a result of this? Any insight would be helpful!!! Thank you

I believe most people say at 24 months, you may gain some points back but if you want to see if you can get results faster, try goodwilling your lates.

  • Late Mortgage payment October 2013, will my credit score increase after October 2015?

    I have a few late payments in a row on my current mortgage, the last one being on October of 2013. From what I hear, lenders are mostly concerned about the past two years. Now, after October 2015 will my actual credit score increase because of that??

  • High credit score increase in one month after discharge

    I was shocked to see my score went from a 500 something to a 677 in just one month after my discharge was complete. Everything on my account has been cleared except for two credit cards that I was an authorized user for which I included on my bankruptcy petition. I called Chase and they said they will remove both of the cards for me. My question is .. will my score hang around that level now if I don’t have any means of credit? I have a motorcycle loan that I signed a reaffirmation agreement for but I don’t think they are reporting to the three credit agencies anymore. I would like to keep my score somewhat fair because I will be getting an aprtment soon and possibly will need a used car loan in the near future.

    ThankdDoesn't hurt to try regarding the CO; but if the CO was fixed in time at some point in the past and the collection is updating will be deleted, least on FICO 8 probably get some points which'll get better over time.

  • Removing Late Payments after Paying

    This site has a lot of great information and recently decieded to join after reading many threads about this subject. So here it goes: I mistakenly let my student loans go into default. I had 3 loans from Fed Loan Servicing that went into default and was picked up by US Dept. of Education. Now my CR has 6 accounts. I called DOE and was told if I can pay the balance within 90 days all negative tradelines will be removed. I agreed. I paid off the balance when I made my last payment last month. I pulled my CR yesterday and noticed that they just changed the status to paid and all my late payments are still there. Did some searching on this board and I've read on here that they are not obligated to remove the late payments. Is this true? I was under the impression that all my late payments from DOE and Fed Loan would be removed.
    Because I have Fedloan and DOE reporting late payments, I have 30 lates being reported from Fedloan and another 36 on behalf of DOE. That’s 66 total OUCH!!. Mostly are 90+ late. How can I get these removed? It’s stressing me out and I want to apply for a mortgage. For those curious my score went up +33 on EX and +23 EQ when they changed the status of my loan. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

    I have never heard of the DoE offering to remove negative reporting in exchange for repaying the total balance in a short amount of time.  Most of what you found here probably referred to the rehablitation process, which involves 9 on-time payments to the collection agency in order to bring the loans out of default status.  Once the loans are back in good standing, some of the negative reporting is removed, but servicers are not required to remove the late payments leading up to the default. Did you get your repayment agreement in writing?  Who did you make this agreement with? (The DoE, the collection agency handling your defaulted loans?)

  • Scores increase-credit card usage

    So I know this is probably a broad question but was trying to find some feedback on the scoring changes to the positive side when using your credit cards to try and bump up that FICO score. Typically what have you guys experienced as score increases by using your cards and what are your normal ebs and flows, do you PIF every month, save a little balance, do you use every card in your portfolio or do you just rotate a couple???? Obviously we all have different CL's and utilizations but based on your util what kind of increases do you see? I apologize up front if this has been covered or if this is in the wrong location. I took a break and just recently came back to the boards for some information covering different topics. I am currently trying to hit a target of 820, sitting at about 770 right now. Just added a new AMEX card to my stable and it will be heavily used and PIF every month until I get my sign on bonus and that great 3xCLI, hopefully lol. I guess I'm trying to figure out what kind of sweet spot people see as a guide in increasing their scores. I'm not looking to do this overnight because based on my experiences my scores have gradually increased over the long term. I'm in the garden for a while probably because I'm not looking to add a bunch of new cards or even loans. Cards are all paid off and typically I PIF. Thx for feedback

    For the best Fico scoring, they say to only let one card report less than 9% util, and let all others report at 0%. The util. that will hurt your score (trust me I know) is letting even one account go over 30% util. (even if you total util. is less than 9%, that one card over 30% will ding your score.. the higher % over the greater the ding).

  • IBook Rises From Dead After 3 Months!  Baffled Family Member Needs Answers

    Hi
    This is a rather long-winded post, so apologies/thanks to those of you patient enough to read to the end and to anyone who can shed some light on something that is baffling me regarding my iBook G3 700MHz (mid-2002 - I think).
    This iBook has been an absolute trojan, working virtually 24/7 since I got it.
    Anyway, one day about 3 months ago it just wouldn't power up. Nothing. No sound, no movement or any other sign of life.
    I called my local Apple dealer and they told me about the PMU reset (mentioned elsewhere in these posts), which I did, and lo and behold the old beast fired up again. There was much rejoicing. All I had to do was reset the date and everything was sweet.
    A day or so later I turned it off to take it to work with me, as usual. When I got to work and tried to start up nothing happened. Dead.
    I tried the PMU reset again, to no avail. Nothing would get it going again.
    I took it in to the dealer for them to have a look at. When I phoned back in the evening they said the logic board was dead and would need to be replaced at a cost of AU$1,000 (about US$800)! When I asked whether there wasn't an internal battery that could be replaced, I was told the iBooks don't have them - a fact which seems to have been confirmed in other posts in this forum.
    I decided to buy a new iBook.
    I've been waiting now for over 2 months for my new BTO iBook, but the dealer has lent me another iBook to tide me over until it arrives. The ridiculous wait for my new iBook is something I can cover in another rant, so I'll cut to the chase now...
    Today, I was tidying up and decided that i should put my dead iBook away in its box and maybe one day I'd buy a second-hand logic board on eBay or something, fix it up and use it as an iTunes player or something...
    Anyway, just before I put the dead iBook into its coffin, I thought I'd just give the power button one last push, for old times' sake.
    The beast started up!
    Again, there was much rejoicing. Again, all I had to do was reset the date/time.
    So, as I type this on my loan iBook, I'm listening to iTunes via my SoundSticks on the old machine.
    My question is this...
    What has really happened to my iBook?
    If the logic board is dead, why did the machine start up again after 3 months lying dormant?
    If there is no internal battery, why have I had to reset the date/time both times it restarted? Wouldn't it be logical to think that some kind of battery was storing these settings?
    Doesn't it seem reasonable to think that there is some sort of battery inside the machine which has slowly built up enough charge over the last 90 days to allow the computer to boot again?
    Is it that there is in fact an internal battery built in to the logic board, and when the dealer told me it was "fried", all they really meant was that the battery was dead, but because it was on the logic board that the whole thing had to be replaced?
    Obviously, I'm not going to turn the old iBook off again. I'll just put it to sleep when I'm not listening to music through it, but I'm just wondering whether any of you really smart people can tell me what's going on.
    I really feel that this is miraculous and need some kind of clear answers to these questions.
    Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Matt
    iBook G3 dual USB 700MHz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi, Matthew. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    It is not uncommon for an iBook with a bad logic board to work intermittently.
    There is no internal battery in an iBook. A capacitor holds the date/time information long enough for you to switch batteries, or for a short time without battery or AC power. The only battery is the main battery. If it has been left without use for some months, the capacitor has simply lost the date and time due to disuse and lack of power during that time.
    When you do a PMU reset, this makes the time and date default, also.
    Your iBook has been acting as one would expect, given the circumstances.
    Mystery solved.

  • What happens after 20 months of EDGE if no upgrade?

    What happens after 20 months of EDGE? Does the service discount remain if you don't upgrade to a new phone? Or does the service price increase even though you don't have an EDGE payment to end up the same amount anyway?

    mrhelper: What else do you know about he month2month discount? I'm currently on a similar edge program but with 2 lines. I still have about 16 more payments left on the edge phones, but I have no intention of upgrading or do another Edge program afterwards. I believe the Verizon Reps told me that I would indeed keep my $25 discount off the access lines when I originally signed up for it, but if that's not the case, where did you hear about that month2month program and what are the details of it?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
    That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
    Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
    Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
    While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

  • Is it bad to close a secured credit card after 2 months of opening it?

    I got a Bank of America secured credit card about 2 months ago. I paid my 2 bills on time. I have a pretty good credit score and a job. I also have another credit card from Capital One which is a rewards card and I got approved for it no problem. I wanted to close the secured credit card and open a unsecured one with Bank of America. The reason why I want to do that is becuase I want my $500 back as I need it to purchase my first car. Is it bad to close a credit card 2 months after opening it? Can I contact Bank of America and ask them to convert my card to the regula one and give me back the deposit?

    It is not bad to close the card after 2 months as it seems like it is an urgent need for the money.  As long as you have other cards reporting you should be fine.  The closed account will report for 10 years. As for calling BOA and asking if they can make the card unsecure will take some doing on your part.  2 months of usage is not enough time for them to want to unsecure your card.  But you can certainly try. Keep us posted on results.

  • MBP - beyond freezing - just dead after 3 months

    Just wanted to let everyone know that my 2010 MBP died after 3 months.
    Was programming Friday nght as usual and then Saturday afternoon the power button did nothing and the mag connector led was very dim.
    The Apple store states that it is the logic board and will be 3 days to replace.
    Is this the norm? Is it just the new model? The i7?
    I made the switch entirely from PC to Mac and now have programming data that I need for client meetings in Mac format and cannot access. Very frustrating.
    I have had Dell and HP laptops that ran without issue until retirement
    and then are still running as hand me downs (about 5 years old).
    I like the OS X interface and enjoy programming on the platform but as a consultant I need something reliable.
    Has anyone else had a similar experience?
    May be related to the graphics switching. I use the gfxStatus program and usually keep the nvidia on at all times. Recently got a Dell 3008wfp and decided to re-enbale automatic switching and the system died about a week later with NO indication of any problems - good shutdown and then would never power up again...

    I think that what you have discovered is the reason why there is such a thing as a warranty. Hardware fails

  • Update after 2 months breaks my squirrelmail / imap authentication

    Ok, updated after 2 months, normally expecting some issues, but nothing this bad.
    Squirrelmail is used for remote hosts to access my server mail over internet.
    This update broke authdaemon I think.
    Here's output of authtest:
    [root@cyclops log]# authtest mark pw(redacted)
    ERR: authdaemon: s_connect() failed: No such file or directory
    Authentication FAILED: No such file or directory
    [root@cyclops log]#
    Which is the same output as in my errors.log when a client tries to access imap.
    How do I turn verbosity up to get more useful output?
    EDIT:  SOLVED
    Forced REINSTALL of courier-authlib fixed it.  WHY WOULD IT DO THAT?
    That was part of the update I believe, but why would it bork the install on a basic update?

    Same problem here. For whatever reason, courier-impa is starting authdaemond and also stopping authdaemond directly after running the courier-processes in its init-script.
    I hacked the script a bit, now it's working properly:
    At the top, insert a line
    AUTO_AUTHDAEMON="false"
    Change the first if-clause to read:
    if [ $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON == "true" ] ; then
    and do the same for the second if-clause containing $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON.
    That's it.
    My complete init-script:
    CI_DAEMONS=
    AUTO_AUTHDAEMON="false"
    [ -f /etc/conf.d/courier-imap ] && . /etc/conf.d/courier-imap
    [ -z $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON_LAG ] && AUTO_AUTHDAEMON_LAG=2
    . /etc/rc.conf
    . /etc/rc.d/functions
    case "$1" in
    start)
    if [ $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON == "true" ]; then
    /etc/rc.d/authdaemond start
    sleep ${AUTO_AUTHDAEMON_LAG}
    fi
    if [ ! -f /var/run/daemons/authdaemond ]; then
    echo "ERROR: authdaemond is not running"
    stat_fail
    exit 1
    fi
    for daemon in $CI_DAEMONS; do
    stat_busy "Starting Courier ${daemon}"
    /usr/lib/courier-imap/${daemon}.rc start
    if [ $? -gt 0 ]; then
    stat_fail
    else
    add_daemon $daemon
    stat_done
    fi
    done
    if [ $AUTO_AUTHDAEMON == "true" ]; then
    /etc/rc.d/authdaemond stop

    stop)
    for daemon in $CI_DAEMONS; do
    stat_busy "Stopping Courier ${daemon}"
    /usr/lib/courier-imap/$daemon.rc stop > /dev/null
    if [ $? -gt 0 ]; then
