it could probably easily be done but that would stop
you going through a part and inserting them...and
checking for mistakes and ommissions as you go.
my routine with parts means i can usually catch any
errors as i go. if it were automated i would probably
have so many mistakes the musos eyes would bleed.
As a "score guy" also I am inclined to agree with you Rohan.

Automatically place images within multiple InDesign documents

I work for a publishing company of agricultural trade magazines and work on few titles each month. We are trying to streamline our production procedures and previous company I worked for had a script they used to place images within text pages by searching for the file name, however there were some limitations with this script (it would only work within 1 InDesign document and only within 1 InDesign story at a time). The company I am with now breaks out each editorial story into separate InDesign files and we place image boxes when the display ads are going to go. For our purposes now, I am looking for a script that, once all of the image boxes were tagged with the image file names, could search between multiple InDesign documents in a folder and automatically place all the images for us. Is anything like this available or able to be created? If so, would it have the capacity to search between multiple InDesign documents and search the entire document for the image file names? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They were tagged using a program called Pathways created by a computer programmer the company used at the time. The issues that I was working on were annual Buyers' Guides so they were mainly just listings and inline graphics. The kinds of issues I work on now are monthly issue with various stories and no inline graphics, but display advertisements. And each story is created and laid out in a separate InDesign document. So I would need a script that can search an entire group of documents for file names and/or image boxes instead of just in one story in one document for inline graphics. (sorry if this is confusing).
I currently do not have a script to work from and am looking for something new that can be used to save use the time of placing every ad manually.

Automatically place various sized ads onto a poster -- possible?

I have a couple thousand bus schedule posters to print. Each of them has room enough for some various-sized ads that we do (there are 6 unique and different-size ads on the attached sample. Is there a way on each page to define the space I have available for ads and then tell InDesign to grab the ads and place them? Doing it by hand is getting TEDIOUS!!!! Would love any suggestions y'all might have!

Not totally automatically (at least without some plugin which I don't know about yet) but there is a few tricks you could use to speed it up.
First and most basic is to place multiple files at once, but you don't say what version of ID you're using so not sure if that's an option.
Another one is to make those columns you're putting them into text boxes. Then place all your ads on your pasteboard, select them all, cut them and paste into the text box. You'll have to experiment to get it set up right but once you do you will be able to get them all flowing into place one after the other. Cool thing there is if you pull one out the rest will all move up and fill in the gap.

Place multiple titles on a single clip and then manually place them?

Hi all,
Is it possible to place multiple titles on the same clip in iMovie 09?
I would also like to manually place those titles to where I want them to be on the frame.
I know it's possible to "trick" iMovie by adding a title to a clip, exporting it, and then importing it again to add another title but this seems to degrade the quality of the video.

export a still form your project (=just as reference for following procedure)
use any pic processor (Photoshop Elements/Pixelmator/..) which allows 'layers'.
use exported still as background
add as many titles where you want .. (keep in mind, video! no small fonts, no serifs, no too bright colors...)
replace background layer by pure Green
export as jpeg
import to iMovie, use Greenbox effect to add video.

How can I place multiple choice boxes on the same line instead of in a column?

I know it is possible to place multiple fields on the same line, using drag and drop.
But to save space, I would like to have 3 or 4 multiple choice boxes next to each other on one line.
Is this possible, and if so, how?

You may click on the "+" button to the right of the first multiple choice box to add more in the same line. When you hover over the button, the tooltip says "insert item beside".

Automatically generating multiple pdf reports from single(*.rpt) report file

I would like to be able to automatically pass a parameter list to a single report, and have it automatically generate multiple reports (as saved pdf files), based on the parameter list.
Is this possible? If so, could someone point me to some documentation? Thanks.

What you probably need to do is generate each bio
individually with the
<cfdocument...> tag just the way you want them. And
then use some of
the advanced <cfpdf...> functionality that allows you
to append two or
more individual PDF's into a single large PDF.

AIR for IOS, ApplicationDomain problem: Error #2007: Parameter Possible symbol clash in multiple swf

I am exporting a game for IOS in Flash CS6.
I have isolated classes, except a framework for static utilities that do not clash, but I still get this message when exporting for IOS.
AIR for desktop, even with ApplicationDomain.currentDomain works and does not give any error. Same on android.
When I export the same exact project for IOS, it triggers that error randomly in different parts.
All related with a call to a method on superclass, the instantiation of an internal class, or of a Vector typed to a custom internal class.
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter Possible symbol clash in multiple swfs, abcenv must be non-null.
The line that triggers the error:
return new RouletteChoserItemDev(num, data);
Any help is appreciated.

I have changed the code into:

item = new MyClass(num, data);
Now I get this funny error:

*FOUND A SOLUTION*
The way ApplicationDomain.sameDomain works on Android and Desktop, and on IOS, IS DIFFERENT!!!
I probably have to file this under AIR bugs.
Anyway:
- In loaded SWFs, classes which are not already stored in parent SWF CANNOT be instantiated.
I.E.
var c:MyClass = new MyClass(); // Will not work
var c = new MyClass(); // Will not work
var c:MyClass = getDefinitionByName("fullpackage.MyClass"); // Will not work
var c = getDefinitionByName("fullpackage.MyClass"); // WORKS!!!!!
var c:DisplayItem = getDefinitionByName("fullpackage.MyClass"); // WORKS!!!!!
So, it seems that classes stored in local loaded SWF will not be accessible directly. Even though tracing it trace(MyClass) works well, the class cannot be used in code in any place. Variables cannot be typed, and class can only be instantiated with getDefinitionByName();
All this, is true ONLY on IOS, same exact project and settings, will not trigger any error in AIR for Desktop or for Android.
But since obviously we use the same codebase for all devices, this IOS *feature* has to guide the way we code, even though we break a few important OOP best practices.
Hope I spared someone else the 3 days including an entire weekend I had to invest to find this out.

I want to place multiple images of hand paintings with drop shadow effects on room backgrounds to make them look as if the paintings are hanged on the room walls. I know how to do it one by one, but that takes time and I want to do it in batch at once.
I am quite a beginner for adobe photoshop CS6. I belive such an automated task is possible through 'Automated Batch' function and/or 'Create Droplet' function. Kindly share your expert opinion.

If you want to go with Batch I would recommend creating an Action of more or less these steps:
• set the resolution to the same as the background image’s
• change the image from Background Layer to regular Layer if necessary
• convert it to a Smart Object
• add a Drop Shadow Layer Style to the image (do not use Global Angle)
• place the background image (File > Place …)
• move it behind the image layer
• Image > Reveal All
• make Selection from that layer’s transparency (cmd-click its icon in the Layers Panel) and use Image > Crop
• select and transform the image layer to fit the intended position
This would naturally work out best if the images had the same size and proportions.
For the reflection on the floor duplicate the image, flip it vertically, move it in position and reduce its opacity to maybe 10%.
Realistically you may have to hide it partially behind the pillows, a Vector Mask would be an option.

Automatic placement of components on to the JFrame.

Hello I want to know if it is possible to have a button in my program and when this button is pressed by the user it automatically places about 3 JFormattedtextfields on to the JFrame? If so how do I go about writing code for this?

Well I am trying to have a check box so that only selected components are deleted. At the moment I am trying to item listener to the check box. I had a look at the checkbox demo and I did the exact same thing but mine does'nt seem to work I don't want to proceed with the remove clients method before this is sorted out. Possible to automatically download specific episodes from subscribed podcast?

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to automatically download only specific episodes in a subscribed podcast without downloading any of the other episodes.
IE: I subscribe to G4TV.com Web Shows Podcast specifically to watch the MMO Report episodes. I have no interest in any of the other episodes that form part of the podcast so I don't want to waste precious bandwidth downloading them automatically. Is there any way to setup a smart way to download only episodes with specific words or phrases in the title in the subscribed podcast? I love the auto download option of podcasts so I don't really want to have to manually go and check for new episodes to download.

No, there is no ftp server in the TC so it won't work.. upload the file to service. There are tons of places on the web whereby you can share a few files.. google sites excellent.

If you do it with a single user account, you will receive update notifications for purchase made on both IDs regardless of which one you're using at the time. That's slightly frustrating as you get the notification BUT you can't actually update! In any event, separate user accounts on the computer is the cleaner way to go.

You could try to use a motion sensor - in a do-it-yourself store you can buy motion sensors that turn on the lights when a burglar approaches the property. Connect this sensor to the remote control of your camera instead of to a light.
Probably you can buy ready-made motion sensitive remote controls, the photographers here will know. You would need this kind of remote control for wildlife photography.
