Scoring for LMS

I am testing Captivate 2 so that we can make a decision on
using it for Level 3 assessments in Software Applications Training.
The scenario that I am using is to evaluate if a Microsoft Word
user can 1). Create a new blank document and 2). Save the document.
To Create a new blank document, the user can take the
following alternate paths:
a. Click on New Blank Document icon = 3 points
b. Type Ctrl + N = 3 Points
c. Select File (1pt) > New (1pt) > Blank Document (1pt)
= 3 points
To Save the document, the user can take the following
alternate paths:
a. Type Alt + S (2pts) > Click on the Save button (1 pt) =
3 pts
b. Click on the Save icon (2pts) > Click on the Save
button (1 pt) = 3 pts
c. Select File (1pt) > Save (1pt) > Click on the Save
button (1 pt) = 3 pts
There are some more alternate paths but I have limited to
those shown above for the purpose of testing. I need the maximum
score to be 6 points and the user must sore 6 points in order to
pass. In this case I would like to show that the user has scored
100 % (i.e., 6 points = 100%). If the user did not score 100% I
need the score to show the percentage accurately. (e.g. If they
used path c to create the document but only performed 2 steps
correctly, and they used path b to save the document but only
performed the first step correctly then they should score 4 points
and the percentage should show 67%)
I need this to be reported correctly via SCORM 1.2 to the
LMS.
Right now I can't change the max score from 15 which is
automatically calculated, and the percentage shows 40% when the
user performs both of the processes correctly (i.e., they score 6).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Inquisiq (http://www.inquisiqr3.com) is worth a look - SaaS or Installed, various pricing models, pretty full-featured but can certainly be used for just test results. No interaction reports available to those without permissions...
(disclaim: I work with these folks)
Moodle and Sakai, of course, are two Free LMS products that may suite you just fine, especially if you've a strong IT and dev group, and even moreso if they've a taste for open source products.
Articulate, I believe, has a hosted tracking system for their QuizMaker products. I've not looked into it, and not sure if it's available 'installed', but either way may be a fast solution. QuestionMark Perception has a similar thing, I think I've heard, but also heard their pricing is...challenging.
Helps?

  • CP8 - How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?

    Hi,
How to embed a pdf into a captivate slide (for LMS publication)?
    WebObject doesn't work...
    Thanks

I accomplished this by publishing my PDF to a directory I called "PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles" on my webserver outside of where my published project lives.
For example...the PDF to embed lived at:
    http://mydomain.com/PDFWebObjectEmbedFiles/file_name_of_PDF_to_embed.pdf
Then I went inside of Captivate and inserted the Web Object widget.  I put the URL to my PDF inside the widget.  Then it loads perfectly with no problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating plug in for LMS

    Hi,
1.Can we write plug-ins/ add on to LMS components? If yes please let me know how? any links would be helpful.
2.Does LMS support discovery based on LLDP? If no, can we write our own plugin to take care of device discovery?
    Regards,
    ram

The EnergyWise "plug-in" for LMS consists of two updates: RME 4.3.1 and HUM 1.2.1. The RME piece is mainly for provisioning while the HUM piece is purely for monitoring.
Once the updates are installed, you will see each application offers features for EnergyWise management (e.g. reports, tasks, pollers, etc.).

  • EnergyWise plug-in for LMS 3.2?

Is the EnergyWise plug-in for LMS 3.2 embedded within RME 4.3.1 or is there a separate download for it?

  • Maximun No. of users for LMS 3.2

What is the max. number of allowed users to login in LMS 3.2 concurrently. without affectting its services?

You're right about the *supported* max of concurrent users, Michel. This is reflected in the documentation for LMS 3.2 below. The same limit applies to LMS 4.0 as well:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/install/guide1/prep.html#wp1354719
However, according to Joe in a much older thread, it could be possible to exceed that limit, given sufficient server resources. The LMS documentation above leaves wiggle room for that as well.

  • Recommendations for LMS - focus on exams

I'm looking for recommendations for a LMS mainly for scoring exams.  We're currently producing course material and exams with Captivate 4 and using the LMS component of Connect Pro.  We've run into numerous issues with applying time limits and preventing cheating (through the cumulative score display) in our current system.  In Captivate, it looks like we have a lot more options if we publish to a different LMS.  We prefer to  host things ourselves and have a strong IT staff and development team for deployment and customization.  Thanks.

  • Captivate 4 - Bookmark feature for LMS

I have completed all development of a course, but have just learned that a bookmark feature is required by the LMS. There must be a way for a User to begin the course then stop, and later be brought back to the same place.
Is there a setting in Captivate where I can enable this feature?

Does your CP-movie have quiz slides and if so, do you report to the LMS? Then you have to activate Resume Data, which is normally the standard option in the LMS Customization Setting (Quiz Preferences, Settings).
When I'm not using the SCORM-functionality (reporting scores), I use the TOC-feature and activate the option 'Self-paced Learning' in the Settings, Runtime Options of the TOC, to have the bookmarking function. I'm certain there are other ways, perhaps someone else will give you another solution. If you do not want to lose any space on your screen you can put the TOC in overlay mode.

  • Captivate 4 - zipping files for LMS

I am zipping files for the LMS for a SCORM compliant course.  When zippnig it, it will not zip and it will not give me SCORM_support.js files.  None of my js files will show up.  Any idea why this is happening?
This is what I should be getting.
This is what I am getting

I think we'll have to look at your settings for SCORM and Manifest. This is what I'm normally getting when zipping a CP4-file into a SCORM-object:
In the SCORM-map are the needed HTM, JS and SWF. And I'm using SCORM 1.2
More details about the settings, please?

  • Captivate 4 publishing for LMS

    Hello,
First, sorry for my bad english : I'm french.
Please  someone can help me : I do not can launch my captivate project on my  LMS : the message written is : The archive is not standard to SCORM 2004  (3rd or 4th ed)
I've already check the folder that content several files but I don't no exactly what kind of files are needed.
I work with captivate 4 and my LMS are MOS and syfadis.
Of course I followed the user guide and I put a cross in "Zip files" and "export html"
I dont no why but I can't attached the pictures with all the files in the zip folder. If necessary, I'll try later.
I think my folder is exported as a courses and not as a resouces. Can I change that with a parameter?
    Thanks in advance

    Nico,
I'm not familiar with your particular LMS but some of these systems that I've worked with allow you to add individual lesson SCORMs as resources similar to adding a PPT deck or a PDF document reference.
For example in another LMS called Moodle, you can create a course in the LMS and then add resources by selecting the resource type from a drop-down.  If you choose SCORM as the resource type, it will ask you to upload the SCORM file.  This will be just a single Captivate lesson packaged as a SCORM.  The LMS will create a link on the course main page that allows the participant to launch the SCORM content and play it in a browser.
You can also create a SCORM course in Moodle.  But this only allows you to upload a Multi-SCO SCORM, in which case all the resource files (e.g. Docs, PDFs, PPTs) must be packaged inside the SCORM zip file.
Check to see if your LMS works in a similar way.  See if under the Resources that you are allowed to add it offers the option to add a SCORM object.  If it does.  Just add individual Captivate SCORMs.
Just thought I'd mention this in case it was useful and allowed you to structure the course in your particular LMS more the way you wanted.

  • Can the multi-sco packager be used to package Muse projects for LMS?

We are currently experimenting with Muse, and we are interested in the posibility of using Muse to develop eLearning courses. Is there any way that Muse projects can be packaged into a zip file that can be loaded into an LMS? Perhaphs using Captivate's multi-sco packager?

Captivate's Multi-SCORM Packager is purely for Captivate content and it usually has to be created by a specific version of Captivate to be compatible with a specific version of the packager app.  So, the answer is most likely to be no.

  • How to Prepare Captivate Content for LMS-recommendation

    RodWard
This was a fantastic tutorial! Helped me tremendously. Thank you.
If you are having issues getting your Captivate stuff up on your LMS (if it accepts Captivate), this tutorial sets it out the steps you need to take VERY clearly and completely, which someone like me (non-techie) really needs. I highly recommend it!
Now that we're in 8, responsive, I wonder about one step--and that is selecting Flash as my output mode. I imagine (?) there are now other choices (html 5?) there to choose from. Prior to this tutorial, I've never gotten that far, so I'll see it soon, I hope!

Selecting Flash (swf) is not an option for a responsive project.
And yes, Rod's guidlines are very good.

  • RoboHelp project for LMS linked to roles

Hi - I am a new user of RoboHelp and I have been assigned a
project that involves taking our existing documentation written in
MS Word and turning the documents into online help for our Learning
Management System (LMS). We would like the on line help to be tied
to our LMS permissions or roles/rights assigned to users. For
example; for our end users we would like only topics related to end
user support or if you are a manager we would like help to be
visible that is related only to managers. All our users have a role
with permissions in our LMS. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance -

    RoboHelp v6

    Hi
    The simple answer is no.
Muse files are almost impossible to edit in Dreamweaver and remain compatible with Muse, they must also be hosted on the Adobe server. It is not even possible to migrate a site created in Muse to any other server, without more work than would be required to create a new site from scratch.

  • Java 7 support for LMS 4.2?

Any idea if LMS 4.2 is going to get support for Java 7?  Java 6 reaches end of Public Updates February 2013.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html

I don't have any inside information but would strongly expect an update to LMS in 2013 that will introduce Java 7 support.
For now, though, you are best advised to stick with the supported Java 6. LMS has gotten better in tolerating minor updates; but I have yet to see anyone get LMS working completely with Java 7.
