SCORM 1.2.7 Test Budapi

Hi,
When running the SCORM 1.2.7 Test Suite on a piece, budapi
does not function
correctly when doing a "baReadIni".
I'm using NetLocation for the ini location. It gives the
correct location
but doesn't read the ini.
Everything else works fine.
Any ideas please ?

As long as you are able to get the ini file to 'FileLocation'
(the
location of the web player) it will be fine. If the web
player is
installed to a locked down location then you may have issues.
If your
users have the 2004 player then that should be OK.

  • Captivate 5.5 - SCORM Project won't run after Captivate 7 installation

    Good afternoon,
I had completed a Captivate 5.5 project for a few months and as of about a month ago I have had Captivate 7 installed on the machine. Due to some widgets that are implemented in the project that only run in 5.5, I have not used Captivate 7.
I also have not had cause to reopen the project until recently to make some changes. However, now when I publish the files, package them in the MultiSCO Packager, and put them in CMS  - it won't run.
I've verified that the CMS is not the issue: if I repost the pre-Captivate 7 version it works just fine and the only changes I made to the original files were cosmetic and minor.
Now when I republish the files in 5.5 and package them, the files look different, publishing all of the zips into a "Linear" subfolder. I couldn't help but notice that this is the same as Captivate 7 publishes except without any accompanying XML files. Why would Captivate 5.5 be affected by Captivate 7 being updated on the machine?
Is there any solution to this other than having to open the 5.5 files in 7 and replace every widget? This is a huge expenditure of time when I was under the impression that if 5.5 was still installed it would run completely independent of the Captivate 7 changes.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Jaimeson

Don't be too quick to write off the LMS/CMS as the issue.  You need to be aware that with Cp6 Adobe totally revamped their SCORM drivers so there is now little similarity between output of 5.5 to 7 in this area.  It is also no longer possible to use Cp7 SCORMs in the Cp5.5 era Multi-SCORM Packager tool.  They are not compatible.  You must make sure the CP7 SCORMs are matched with the Multi-SCORM Packager that came with Cp7.
Once you get compatible SCORMs published, try uploading them to SCORM Cloud LMS to test.  If they work fine on SCORM Cloud then they should work on your CMS (if it is truly SCORM compliant).
Your issue with the widgets not working in Cp7 might be resolvable if you update the widgets.  Have you checked with the original widget developer to see if they have updates available?  If you have several widgets of the same type and version in each project file, then there is a trick to updating all of them in one go (per project file).
See the heading in the lower part of this page:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-widgets/widget-updates
But be warned that this only works if the widget filename is exactly the same, and you are doing this from the same computer that was used to originally insert the same widgets, because the path to the external widget file must be replicated.

  • Captivate 5/SCORM 1.2: Won't read percentage score right?

I am using Captivate 5.5 to publish a 21-SCO course (18 reading slides and 3 quizzes). I have used SCORM 1.2 (in order to eventually use Moodle) and have chosen Complete/Incomplete, Report as Percent and Slide Views Only (for the learning slides with no interactions) and Quiz Score Only (for the three quizzes). I am using the Captivate 4 SCORM Packager.
Here's my problem: I can't get it to read the percentage complete as the score. I am using SCORM Cloud for the test server, BTW.
When I test the full, 21-SCO course, it reads the first SCO fine and reports back 4.76% complete (100/21). But after that, it completes the other SCOs fine, but the scoring does not change.
Following the advice of some others in these forums, I made a test with some buttons to give the non-scoring, read-only SCO's point value. (1 point for each button). Then, the percentage scoring seems to read the percentage of only the slides accessed. So, for example, when it completes Slide 1 and moves to Slide 2, the percentage score reads 50 percent complete. But when it completes Slide 2 and moves to 3, it reads 66.7 percent complete.
Buttons are not a good solution for me anyway. The client wants the SCOs to flow one into another seamlessly, with no forced interactions.
All I want this to do is step percentage complete correctly for each slide.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

OK.  That makes a bit more sense.
The scoring that you speak of is really controlled in the LMS, not inside the Captivate modules.  All they do is report out to the LMS at the end of the module what the completion percentage or Pass/Fail score was for THAT PARTICULAR module, not for the entire course.  Each SCO is really a separate standalone object that just reports its own result.  It's up to the LMS to roll up the results for the overally course.
Each LMS is different and has different capabilities. So to have any chance of getting the result you want, you'll have to wait until you can work with the LMS that will eventually be used to deliver the content and then play around with the settings to see if it will allow some kind of cumulative scoring.

  • LSO - SCORM

We are having problems with Learning Solution and scorm courses (imported through LSO-AE). When we deploy them as Web-Based Training we are unable to receive any information about Test results. Test is embeded inside a WBT, using SCORM API it saves results to LMS (cmi.core.score_raw, max score and min score). We need to be able to display these results on the course information screen (learning progress) as at least "Achieved percentage". Feedback like this is provided for "Online Test" but we are unable to use scorm courses as online test. In sap note 746917 point 12 there is information that LSO "doesn't seem to care" to much about this data.
Anybody has any idea for a workaround or how to modify pages to display that data?

    Pascale,
What patch level are you for Content Player?  I believe you must have implemented Support Package level 15 for LSO 300 Content Player  (see Note 992086) in order for the TAC tables to properly populate.
    Summary
    Symptom
This note solves errors in the SAP Learning Solution LSOCP 300 component.
    Other terms
SAP Learning Solution, Content Player, Enterprise Learning, eLearning
    Reason and Prerequisites
When you log off from the Content Player, the Internet Explorer security popup no longer appears when you use https.
<b>The system now also stores the results of the individual responses for the introduction, final tests, and online tests.
Problems that previously occurred when you store test results are resolved.</b>You now also have the option to use shorter URLs. For more information, see Note 1006643.
    Please award points if helpful.
    Solution
To update an existing installation of the component,
start the SDM (Software Deployment Manager) in the J2EE and
"deploy" the .SCA file from the SAP Service Marketplace.

  • LSO-External Online Tests

    Hi,
Can we import Extenal Suppliers Online Tests into SAP-LSO through Authoring Tool? If yes Please tell me the procedure.
    Regards,
    Sushma

    Sushma,
You CAN import 3rd party created tests into the LSO using the Authoring Tool.  There are a number of SCORM conformant products and vendors that will output a SCORM package for you to import.  Such a test can be added to a course as a separate SCO or be standalone.
Here are some SCORM conformant tools for test creation:
       Articulate Quizmaker
       Adobe Captivate
The issues come up when running reports on the test data.  Since SCORM data is placed into SCORM tables in the LSO, the delivered reports for test will not work as expected.  Custom reporting is an effective way to get the test result data you will need.
Import a test is just like importing any other SCORM content in AE.

  • Long list of issues with CP5 project

I've been working on a project for the past few weeks and its nearing completion. A couple of things have happened which seem to have completely messed up the project. On the surface all looks well but when you actually use it, major usability issues emerge. I've listed the problems below. Would appreciate any advice if possible. Am using CP5 (latest update applied) on an XP pc.
    1. Throughout the project development I've been publishing to html to test it. All was working fine until I decided to trial a scorm export. When I selected Quiz Preferences to enable scorm reporting, CP locked up. I was then presented with the top strip of the Preferences menu window with the rest missing. This was a blue strip which ran right across the screen and onto my second monitor. I couldn't close it or escape it, or select anything beneath. So I had to force quit, no choice really.
    2. After the force quit I restarted CP and managed to enable scorm reporting. I tested an export (to zip), deployed on my Moodle site and all worked fine. I then noticed I needed to change a few details so went ahead and made these (all I added was a title for the scorm manifest). When I exported again, I ran into problems with my embedded flv videos, saying they were corrupt (which they weren't). I eventually got round this by exporting the zip to its own folder (had been exporting to the main folder containing the CP project file... obviously not a good thing). The exported scorm file is about 74MB.
    3. After all the above issues with the videos were sorted, I tested the scorm export and immediately ran into a whole rang of problems. Every single object that had a fade in & out affect had to have it removed as they were greyed out. My embedded videos were barely visable, looking like they'd been set to a 20% opacity in Pshop. Could still be played though, if you could find the play button. The opening slide decided to immediately fade once the scorm pack launched, despite never setting to do anything of the sort. I had to take a copy of another slide and recreate the front slide, then delete the old one. This seems to have fixed that issue. Now my final slide (which follows on from a Quiz Result slide) has decided to do an immediate fade in & out, so you can't read the text. Again I never told it to do that. All objects on the page have effects/transitions off but this hasn't had any affect at all.
    4. I have also found a very very odd pattern of behaviour with Click boxes used as links to web sites. I have 8 links on a slide (text boxes with text blue colour & click boxes overlaying). Clicking on the 1st two links works fine, opens them in a new window. Clicking on the 3rd, nothing happens. A 2nd click loads the web page. When you close it you find yourself on the next slide and have to go back. The same pattern occurs for the next 3 links. Very very odd.
    5. The other really annoying problem is with my next & back buttons. If I navigate through the package and then click back a few slides (or even go back 1 slide), I can't go forward again. I have to refresh the page. I've also found if I go back to the opening slide its greys outs completely, nothings visable. Again you have to guess when the next button is to move forward. The nav buttons are simple set to "go to next slide" and ticked infinite. This problem completely ruins the who package making it unuseable.
I'm starting to think something has corrupted my project. If its not that then its CP being buggy. One thing I do know is its one of the most sluggish Adobe apps I've ever used. If I can't fix these issues the course won't be useable and I'll have to start from scratch with something else.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum.  Sounds like you've had a bad day.
Since no one else has chimed in yet, I'm going to suggest that you get rid of your Preferences file and let Captivate regenerate this, just in case it resolves some of the glitches.  This preference file can get corrupted and cause all kinds of weird behaviour.  So what I'm suggesting here might sound a bit radical but it's often proven to be successful for Cp weirdness issues.
Here's an explanation I've copied from another post by the eminent Captiv8tr:
You might try clobbering the preferences file. If you look in the following location, you should find the file named captivate_40.dat. Just Close Captivate, delete the file and restart Captivate.
To locate this file, right-click your Start button and choose Explore. This should easily get you in the general area. If you look at the parent folder you should see Application Data. (you may need to configure Windows Explorer to show you this folder) Inside the Application Data folder should be an Adobe folder. And inside the Adobe folder should be the Adobe Captivate folder. And inside this folder should be the file.

  • Linking to a pdf-File in Captivate 5.5

    Hello,
I hope you can help me with th following question, thanks! I've seen similar problems like mine on the forums, but it's not exactly the same.
The screenshots are in german, but I think you get the idea.
When linking to the file of the button I use the following options (used "New Window"):
After publishing (.swf-File) I copy the folder "PDF" containing the file "Hardcopy.pdf" into the published folder. When I click the button in the WBT the pdf file opens perfectly.
But now I want to upload the WBT to our LMS and therefore I need to zip the file. In the zipped mode the pdf file doesn't open when clicking the button.
Any solutions? Thank you for your help!

If you're talking about a zipped SCORM package, did you test opening the PDF on your LMS after uploading the SCORM and setting up the course?  What normally happens is that the LMS unzips the SCORM package to a location on the web server when you set up the course.  If your PDF was inside the zip file, and the relative path from the calling SWF to the PDF was not changed, then it should still work.
One suggestion I would make is to always use lower case for all file and folder names.  I notice you have a combination of upper and lower case filenames.  This is not good practice when uploading content to web servers as some servers are case sensitive and others are not.  I've seen instances where broken links were simply due to the way the server interpreted mixed case filenames.  If you only use lower case, you don't usually suffer this issue.

  • Table of Contents navigation question in Captivate 5.5

Hi - I'm a fairly new user of Captivate (5.5.), and hope that someone can answer this question. I'm trying to set up a table of contents with navigation that will not let users go to slides that they have not yet viewed, but still enable users who have left and re-entered a course go back to any previous slide that they've viewed. Here are some details:
    * I'm publishing the course using the SCORM 2004 setting, and testing it in SCORM Cloud and our LMS (Cornerstone)
    * The table of contents navigation is set only to "Navigate visited slides only."
    * After reading as many of the related posts as I could find on this forum, I've been able to get bookmarking to work - that is, the course will take the user back to where he or she left off. And by using the InfoSemantics TicTOC widget, when a user returns to the course, all previously viewed slides are checked off in the table of contents.
    * However, whatever I've tried, a user who leaves and goes back into a course can only navigate back to the first slide, not to any of the other slides he or she already viewed. I'd like for our users to be able to go back to any previous slide they viewed (for example, to review the section just before the one where they left off, or to review any part of the course for reference after completing it).
Is there a combination of settings, or a widget somewhere, that will let you both limit forward navigation to visited slides only, while still allowing users to go back to any previously viewed slide after exiting and re-entering a course? And this would need to work in an LMS.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

I did have the self-paced learning option checked, so I unchecked it. I did not have "user must past quiz" as required (it's set as optional). I tried adding an interactive button to the first slide and giving it a score. But after re-publishing, I still can only go back to the first slide (not any previously viewed slide) if I stop and re-enter the course. Here are the settings:
    Quiz Reporting:
    Manifest:
    LMS Customization:
    Quiz Settings:
    Quiz Pass/Fail:
Settings for the interactive object on the first slide:
Settings for the "quiz" on the last slide:
Thanks so much for helping me with this.

  • Captivate 6 IMS Manifest validation error

I'm working for the first time with a Captivate template file created in 5.5 and developed further in Captivate 6. I'm getting the following IMS Manifest validation error when I try to upload it on our LMS. Does anyone have a lead for me to pursue this error in the Captivate 6 file? I'm assuming it is something in the Quiz reporting settings.
Errors detected during IMS Manifest validation may indicate that the content will not display or play correctly on KnowledgeHub.

  • LMSInitialise error from ADL  when launching captivate course

    hi
I have seen several users talking about getting LMSInitialise error when launching course using ADL SCORM 1.2 test suite
We are also getting the same errors. We use same setup to test our otehr SCORM conformance pkgs. So I dont think its a set up problem
We are using captivate 4.0, on windows xp. SCORM 1.2 comformance test passes fine. And course launches fine too. Just gives LMSInitialise error
    Any help

This issue can probably be solved by changing your Flash player security settings:
Get some Flash content playing in your browser. Any Flash animation will do. Go e.g. to www.adobe.com.
Right-click on the animation, you will get the Flash context menu. SelectSettings.
You will get a little menu.
Click the Advanced button. This will bring you to an Adobe Web site.
In the table of contents on the left, click Global Security Settings Panel. This will show you a panel.
Add the location where your ADL TestSuite software is installed to the trusted locations. The location of the TEST SUITE software, not the location of your zip file or your content files. Those get copied automatically to a TestSuite subfolder when you run the test.
Close all your browser windows and re-run the test.
For more details, check my blog post on http://www.mylearning.be/?p=332.
    Hope this helps,
    Jan.

  • Captivate 7 module sending the wrong interaction data to the LMS

Here's an interesting one: (I hope!)
I have a test created using Captivate 7 that is sending the wrong interaction data to the LMS (tested in Moodle and in SCORM Cloud).
The test module was based on a previous module by using File, Save As to create a copy which was then modified.
When the interaction data in the logs and reports is analysed it contains the questions and answers from that previous module. Even though the current module has totally different Qs and As (and a different number of them).
I'm starting to think that File, Save As was not a good move...
Very grateful for any pointers on this
    Regards Simon

    thanks
Unfortunately the cmi.interactions in the log are still set to the wrong values. I wonder if I turned off reporting, republished, then turned reporting on again... mm...
    Ok - that didn't work
Now I'm getting parser errors in the imsmanifest.xml file
    hmmm...

  • LMS Content Packager Extensions Question

Does anyone have experience with the three content packager
extensions for Learning Management Systems (LMS') and are you aware
of which SCORM edition these packagers were written for? I have
found incompatabilities between The Content Packager for IMS and
the SCORM 2004 3rd Edition Testing Suite. I have not been
successful in creating a package that will pass based on this
    Extension.
I found three packagers listed - and all of them seem to be
    three years old or older.
    Content Packager for IMS for
    Dreamweaver 8
Content Packager for IMS for Dreamweaver MX 2004
    The Content Packager for IMS
    Any ideas?

I believe "Content Packager for IMS" (aka "L5 SCORM
Producer") extensions are stuck back in SCORM 1.2. They only
package the IMS Manifest and the wrappers (if you choose to use
them). I could be wrong, but I think if they are to pass SCORM 2004
conformance tests, they require the XSD and DTD files as
    well.

  • Adobe Presenter Always Passes Complete Status to LMS - Even When Quiz Failed

    Issue:
I'm trying to publish an Adobe Presenter 7 course with a quiz using SCORM 1.2. I am publishing to our LMS (Cornerstone OnDemand). The course loads and plays fine. However it always reports a complete status to the LMS - even when I fail the quiz. I can even see the score (10 out of 50 points), but the status still shows as completed when it should be incomplete. The pass threshhold is set to 50 points...and yet any scoring allows a completed status.
    Questions:
    1. Has anyone used Presenter with CSOD?
    2. Has anyone used Presenter with any SaaS LMS?
    3. Which settings are required to acurately reports a status?
    Thanks,
    Dan

On top of Ravi's suggestion, what I would also recommend is checking the "scorm_support.js" file which can be found in your Scorm Support folder---this is automatically created when you publish your PPT deck.
Open the scorm_support.js file using Notepad, Notepad++....anything other than Word.  From there, look at the top of the js file and you'll see a few variables which help to establish the SCORM setting of the training, but the one to look for looks like this:
    var g_nAPI = 1;
if that variable is set to "0", then your published content will trigger SCORM 2004, not 1.2.
I've seen this come up on a few occasions, but ever since upgrading my version of Presenter to 7.0.5, this has gone away.
Additionally, there are a few other things you can do which might help in terms of deploying content in your LMS:
    1. I would strongly recommend downloading the ADL SCORM 1.2.7 test suite.  What this basically does is allow you to test the conformity of the SCORM package of a published Presenter course to determine if problems exist BEFORE you post your files to an LMS.  You can download the test suite here:
    http://www.adlnet.gov/adlnews/Documents/News%20Archive/TheSCORMConformanceTestSuiteVersion 127SelfTestisAvailableforDownload.aspx
    2. If you have an LMS admin at your disposal, be sure to check with that person for deployment criteria when your content is installed on the LMS.  If YOU are that person, then you have some homework to do--because you're going to need to know how to run installation procedures and content checks on your training as recommended by the LMS software.
I've developed and deployed Presenter content on a variety of LMSs, and some have nastier quirks than others...so one solution may not fit every environment, but you have to keep checking!  I would also try reaching out to your LMS's tech support if possible.

  • Meridian Global LMS and Captivate 4

Is anyone using Captivate 3 or 4 with the Meridian Global
LMS? We're implementing this LMS and I would like to get a
headstart on any problems or idiosyncracies we can expect from this
    combination.
    THANKS

If we are talking SCORM 1.2 the test suite from the ADL identifies many spots where starting an "identifier" with a number is not allowed.  Often what is happens is you save your course with some number and that then gets propogated into the manifest.
Here is a sample output from the test suite on a course with numbers to start the name.
ERROR:   Datatype error: Value '6789_XX_XX_ID' is not a valid ID(NCName).
ERROR:   Datatype error: Value '6789_XX_XX_ID_ORG' is not a valid IDREF(NCName).
ERROR:   Datatype error: Value '6789_XX_XX_ID_ORG' is not a valid ID(NCName).
ERROR:   Datatype error: Value '6789_XX_XX_SCO' is not a valid ID(NCName).
ERROR:   Datatype error: Value '6789_XX_XX_ID_SCO_RES' is not a valid ID(NCName).
So, the above posters advice is correct but it isn't based on some arbitrary decision on Meridians part but based on what the ADL wants.
    Peace,
       Rickard

  • Scorm-based test causes too many Blackboard http requests

We are looking into a problem with scorm-based tests and learning  modules created in Adobe Captivate. Viewing the scorm content in our Blackboard LMS generates ridiculous amounts of network traffic. A simple click in the scorm module triggers  anything between 10 and 100+ http-requests, even if no interaction with  the server is required. The same click sometimes results in 5 requests, other times in 50  requests or more. It's always a sequence of the same two requests, see below (only the max value in "Keep-Alive: timeout=10, max=98" counts down).
If these scorm modules are taken by a group of students, the enormous amount of http requests put a lot of pressure on our Blackboard system, which results in a slow behaviour of the modules. Has anyone seen this behaviour and does anyone know of a way to prevent it?

Simply add the call to your exception hander. E.g.
    EXCEPTION
             WHEN OTHERS
             THEN
                   UTL_TCP.Close_All_Connections;
                   INSERT INTO excep_trans (P_WORD_EXP, UPDATE_TIME, COUNTER)
                     VALUES (VC1.RAW_VAL_TXT, SYSDATE, cnt);
    ..etc..
END;Also consider using proper coding standards. There is NO modern day programming language standard that says to write (selective) reserved words in uppercase. Write in lowercase. Use camelcase and pascalcase for variable names and procedures/functions/methods. Restrict the use of uppercase to defining identifiers such as compiler macros or constants.
Do yourself a favour and read, understand and apply the basic naming standards as detailed in .Net Guidelines for Names and Code Conventions for the Java Programming Language.
