SCORM package files for Dreamweaver/Coursebuilder interactions

Gentlefolk;
Trying to see if I can get Dreamweaver (CS3) with Coursebuilder interactions to play with LearnCenter LMS. The site is not loading because the LMS can't find the SCORM manifest files.
I don't see an export function in Dreamweaver that would create the manifest files. Is there a way to generate the manifest files, so LearnCenter has something to grab onto?
Or have I tumbled to the reason everyone is using Captivate?
Many thanks!
Don

Hi Vijay;
It has been a while since I started this thread or even looked at it, so I am hazy on my original inquiry. I will have to look again. Short answer to your question however is that every tool I play whith that outputs to SCORM-compliant content automagically creates the manifest files and all the related support files.
I just wanted to acknowledge your message right now. Let me look at the original thread and see if I have any more information that may directly assist you.

where are the sample files for Dreamweaver cs 5.5 on Adobe TV? video says there there, but there not! Video even shows where to find them, but there still not there! Were they just to big for Adobes servers to handle so the had to take them down to make space?  : )  Please help, could really use them. Thanks! : )

CS5.5 is now 4 versions behind CS6, CC and CC2014.
This tutorial was written for CS5 and it works with CS5.5. You'll find the supporting files for it under Sample Files on the right.

  • Packaging files for service providers in Illustrator CS3 necessary?

    Hi, i need to
package my files in Illustrator for a service provider
tonight in the same fashion one would do
in InDesign for a service provider.
But Illustrator does not have 'File->package.'
From what I can see I might go to the links palette
and use that to embed images?
But i was also told that you usually don't want to embed
Well, i'm obviously confused, anyone who can point me in the
right direction, that would much appreciated,
    Thankyou.

Yeah, there's no easy way to package up the fonts unless you use Art Files or Scoop. From "Find Font..." you can then go to the finder and search for the fonts you've used. If it's only a couple, it's not too bad. Just make sure you get the right versions... (I know I have about 20 faces of Futura...)
If the service provider isn't going to be making any changes to the copy, then there is really no reason not to outline the fonts.
Outlining fonts changes them from text to shapes, treating them just like any other shape in your file, removing your ability to edit text (so it should be one of the last steps in your pre-flighting of a file) and it guarantees that what you send the printer is what you'll get back.
Keep a live (not outlined) copy of all your files for future use and send the printer an outlined version.
Or, if this is something you're going to be doing a lot of, and you don't want to outline the fonts, look into Art Files or Scoop. I know Art Files is only like $50, and it works great.

  • Packaging Files for Review

I want to send my SWF file (created in Captivate 5) for review, but I cannot use the Captivate Reviewer.  I simply want to send this file to someone in email.
When I publish and run the project in my browser, everything works.  However, when I simply run it from the SWF file a few things are missing.
There is a loader that runs an animation that pulls my course title from a text file.  I can't get that title to show up.
Secondly, the navigation bar is not present in some of the slides; and I know it's set properly, because it appears when I preview in my browser after publishing.
Any ideas how to correct this and how to most effectively package these files for review, if you're not using the Reviewer?

    Hi Harooki,
The best thing would be that you zip the entire published folder and then e-mail it to your reviewer. For your SWF to show everthing properly -  There is a loader that runs an animation that pulls my course title from a text file - all external dependent files should be present in the folder.

  • Ciscoview Package File for Nexus 7010

I found an old support modules table at
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_ciscoview/device_support/table/cvsdt.html
dated Feb 28, 2012. I cannot find one newer.
I have LMS 4.1 and I'm trying to render a Nexus 7010 in Ciscoview. I have downloaded the latest package files. The Sup2 and Fab2 modules (N7K-SUP2 and N7K-C7010-FAB-2) show as "unsupported card".
What packages and versions are required to recognize this card with LMS 4.1?

The Sup2 requires 9.0 of the package file (dated 1/2/2013). You can download it here. (Click all Releases, 6.1.0, then choose the Nexus 7000 package.)
The readme is here. It mentions the N7K-C7009-FAB2 is supported (since 7.0) but nothing about the 7010-FAB-2 so you may still be out of luck on that one.

I was so excited to learn about Fireworks' great features, and have a task of building a website... all on my own for the first time.

    Hey there!
If you are new to Web site creation, then here is an excellent tutorial for you to work though:
    http://www.sitepoint.com/article/html-css-beginners-guide/
Sitepoint also has good reference pages for HTML and CSS. Actually...tons of good stuff!
Another good site is HTML Dog: http://www.htmldog.com/
For books, I have the first edition of this book: http://www.sitepoint.com/books/css2/  and it's a good one.
I also recommend http://www.cookwood.com/html6ed/ (Although, once again, I'm a version behind current. )
HTML is a way of marking up a document into text elements, such as paragraphs, headings, and lists. If you're used to InDesign, you may think (even unconsciously) that you can use Fireworks or Dreamweaver as a document layout tool for the Web. You can't, really. HTML is markup, not layout. You can't make HTML and CSS do what you can do with InDesign without a fair bit of experience pushing HTML and CSS into doing things they aren't necessarily intended to do. Before you can do that, you need to understand what they are intended to do.
Also, while Fireworks can export HTML, its code is only intended to be used for mockups. The code isn't robust and you can't add content to it very well without making the structure break. The pop-up menus are quite troublesome. Fireworks code is also very ugly and difficult to maintain - when something goes wrong, you need to be able to dig in and fix it. It's easier when you have clean code. The better approach is to use Fireworks to create your design graphically, make slices to export the sections of that design that need to be images, then build your site in Dreamweaver or a text editor. In order to do that, you should understand HTML and CSS.
Yes, you can overlap things on Web pages. Again, however, you would need to understand how CSS works, because you would use CSS positioning on an element to overlap it with something else and there are tricks and bugs (due to browser variations) that you would need to master before you wanted to attempt such a thing. Start with the SitePoint tutorial. Once you can build a site like that, then move forward.
You'll need to learn about CSS floats: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/01/css-float-theory-things-you-should-know/ (tons of good stuff at Smashing Magazine) and http://www.autisticcuckoo.net/archive.php?id=2004/12/10/floating
    and CSS positioning: http://www.barelyfitz.com/screencast/html-training/css/positioning/
    Good luck!

  • Is there a scorm manifest maker for dreamweaver cs6

I purchased Creative Cloud that came with Dreamweaver CS6. I assumed there would be coursebuilder as it was listed. It didn't come with coursebuilder.
So, my question is if there is a SCORM manifest maker that plugs into Dreamweaver CS6 or will the old manifest maker on the Adobe Exchange still work?

I assumed there would be coursebuilder as it was listed.
Nope. I've never seen coursebuilder in the Cloud product list.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/buying-guide.html
AFAIK, coursebuilder used to come with e-Learning suite.  I don't know if it still does.  E-Learning suite is a separate purchase & not currently available on the Cloud.

  • Where do I download an install file for Dreamweaver CS6

    Hi Folks,
I will be replacing my current computer very soon and switching to a Mac, I'm very nervous because I can't find a install.file and don't understand how to copy my already installed copy of cs6. I have the serial number. My computer knowledge is limited about burning the program onto a ISO disk or zipping everything to a USB drive.
Now when this program was bought It was for windows 7, Will the key even work being I'm a new mac user? I've thought about Parallels seeing as PS6 needs rescuing too but then I would just stick with windows.
I know everybody is using CC now and the $249 yearly seems okay but I already have the program.
I just wanted to buy my new computer use the install.exe file and use my product key.
any help on where to find the file please let me know.
    thank you

Now when this program was bought It was for windows 7, Will the key even work being I'm a new mac user?
No. Serial numbers are Windows only or Mac only.
You will need to apply to Adobe for a platform swap and get a CS6 Mac serial number issued.
Order product | Platform, language swap
On your Mac you can download CS6 for Mac from Order product | Platform, language swap
Once you receive your Mac serial number, enter it to license the software on your Mac.
Or avoid the swapping process and run the Windows version in Parallels on your Mac.
Or join the Cloud. No swapping there either since there are no serial numbers.

  • SCORM packager for Mac?

    Hello!
There are a couple components to this question - essentially, I'd like to have the Flash capabilities of the eLearning Suite on my Mac (I don't need Captivate.) There's a SCORM packager offered with the eLearning Suite version of Flash, and I really need something comparable.
I'm working with an eLearning development team and I know enough about Flash to be able to take their templates and build out courses. I'm also fairly proficient in AS3 (I can look at the code and figure out how to modify it appropriately or go and find what I want on the net). My biggest problem right now is that this team all has CS4 eLearning Suite and I'm trying to work with them from my CS4 Web Design Premium software.
Everything works right up until I try to edit, or publish one of their scored assessment .flas and then it breaks.  I originally thought it was just because I changed something I wasn't aware of, but I opened one, didn't alter anything, published it and it no longer worked appropriately. I'm guessing this is because my version of Flash is missing something included in the eL suite version? Does that hold any water?  I'm really ignorant when it comes to the SCORM stuff, so any help (even basic explanation of what's happening) would be helpful and appreciated.
Also, I would also love to be able to package a course myself, but can't using the Adobe Scorm Packager because it's not distributed outside of the eL suite and not at all for Macs from what I can tell. Any recommendations?  Or is it impossible to match what the team is doing exactly with the Adobe solution on my MacBook Pro with a 3rd party packager?
    Thanks again!  Best,
    -SJ

So the lessons the folks with the eLearning Suite publish work fine in the LMS? Or is that totally your job....so you've never gotten these to work as needed?
If the other folks have a process for publishing these lessons that works in the target LMS, have them absolutely detail that for you, then see if you can duplicate or where the process breaks down.
When you "publish one of their scored assessment .flas and then it breaks", what does that mean? Just published it doesn't work as expected? It doesn't work as it does when they publish it (assuming they do)? It doesn't work in the LMS when their published versions do?
    And when it 'doesn't work'....what doesn't work?
If the other folks on the team can output/publish content that works in the target LMS, then you need to know exactly how that's done and figure out exactly where you run into trouble.
If the other folks can't/don't do that output and that final SCORM publishing is up to you, then perhaps a better plan is to find a third-party 'shell' or 'wrapper' that can take your non-SCORM content and integrate it for the SCORM functionality you need. Of course, better to handle that through the tools you have yourself - for example, there's a free (I think) SCO packager extension for Dreamweaver that may help... I'm not really sure what the SCORM Packager in the eLearning Suite actually does...

  • "cannot copy necessary linked files" when trying to package files

I am trying to package files for a customer and I get the message "cannot copy necessary linked files". Nothing shows as missing or any errors.  Anyone else encountered this?

It's REALLY annoying that this hasn't been fixed...
In Sweden we use a lot of å, ä, ö. And it's never a problem to name files with these characteres (and yes, I use an Apple computer).
Before you could always copy all the files without any problems, but these days you need to rename them.
Which can a totall nightmare if you have a file with hundreds of pictures... then you need to go through the whole list of links, carefully change all the names and then update them every single picture one by one.
Which means hours of totally meaningless work.
