Scorm package in CP6 not uploading to LMS - they claim corrupted?

Hi,
I created a lesson with an embedded flv file in captivate 6. I publish the content and can upload to the scorm cloud just fine. When I upload to my LMS (Inquisiq), it spits out an error and will not upload. I have contacted ICS for a solution.  They believe my zip file to be corrupted. They unzipped it and rezipped it and now it uploads fine.  So I tried pulbishing another file.  Upload does not work. I unzipped and rezipped and now it uploaded fine.
I am publishing for scorm 1.2, swf, html5 & pdf options selected.
Anyone have a clue what might be going on here?
Thanks,
  Lori

Lori,
After unzipping do they made any change, like removing any file, adding, modifying, structuring?
I think if you get an error on ICS your LMS admin must have a details log for identifying the error message and cause for that. He should be able to isoltae how rezipping it solves it?
Also, can you keep course in just SWF or HTML5 output nad then publish it to see if it could be cause of packaging different file format could be an issue ?
Thanks,
Anjaneai

  • Scorm 1.2 output not working in LMS

Hi, I am attempting to use Presenter courseware in DOTs LMS.
Unfortunately when I launch the content I get a blank screen. DOTS
is loading the SCORM (1.2) content correctly (i.e. it launches the
URL as per the Manifest file). The problem seems to be within the
    SCORM content itself.

Hi, I'm replying to my own post as I've worked it out with

The Manifest file produced by Presenter is correct for SCORM
v1.2 but the generated Javascript file is not.
The ../scorm_support/scorm_support.js file needs to be
    ammended.
    This below line...
    //var g_nAPI = 0; // type of API to start searching for;
    allowable values: 0 - SCORM 2004; 1 - SCORM 1.2 (or 1.1)
needs to be changed to force it to use SCORM v1.2, see below:
    var g_nAPI = 1; // type of API to start searching for;

Hopefully there will be an update to correct this?
Where exactly is this file "./scorm_support/scorm_support.js"... am not able find it? can anyone tell me the exact directory location for Presenter 8?

  • SCORM packaging from FCPX??

I need to create SCORM packages for my Learning Management System (LMS) with my FCPX projects.  I was told by Apple that this was possible when I bought the program.  I cannot find where to do this. What am I missing?  Would Compressor make this easier?  I have searched and searched, but I am finding very little that is helpful.  Please help!

    Hi Stacey,
Great question. I'm part of the SCORM Cloud team at Rustici Software. We specialize in SCORM and I think we  have a solution for your problem.
You can create SCORM packages using your exisiting videos pretty easily using ScoTube. ScoTube is a tool inside of SCORM Cloud that converts your existing videos, or even videos on YouTube, into SCORM courses. All you have to do is sign up for a free trial account to be able to convert your videos. Keep in mind that the trial account does have  a 100MB storage limit and you can only create 10 registrations.
When it comes to delivering your video courses to your LMS, you could either export your course (requires a paid account) as a stand-alone course and import it in to your LMS environment or you can use Dispatch. Dispatch is a package that is hosted on SCORM Cloud but sent to your LMS. With Dispatch, you remain in control of your content and you get unparalled tracking and reporting on what's going on between your learners and your courses.
If you would like a demo of how this works inside of SCORM Cloud, I'd be happy to show you around. Feel free to contact me directly at jena.lawing<at>scorm<dot>com.
    Thanks!

  • Uploading 3rd Party Cert NOT Working Prime LMS 4.2

    Hi all,
I followed the next steps but when I tried to upload the 3rd party cert into the Prime LMS using SSL Utlity Script option 5 or 6, the process is stuck. I did not get a message similar to step 4 like: "introduce the location of the certificate...."
1.-Create a CSR using OpenSSL as usual. (it always works on Cisco ISE, ACS, etc).
2.-Create the LMS Server Certificate on my local CA Server using the previous CSR.
3.-Downloaded the CA Root & Intermediate Servers Certificate (Base64 Encoded - In fact the Cisco Guide DO NOT MENTION this part, only when I ran the OPTION 4, I realized I needed it instead of DER Encoded I have been using regularly).
4.-Downloaded the Prime LMS New Certificate, again 64Base Encoded.
5.-Using SSL Utility Script, I ran Option 4 to validate the Certificates previously downloaded and the process went sucessful. No error messages.
6.-TRY TO UPLOAD the LMS and CA Server Certificates but the process is STUCK after introducing YES whe this is required.
Any ideas about this (may be is a bug or similar)?

  • SCORM-Based Presenter content does not track in LMS when using IE9 or above

MS has changed IE browser behavior to restrict SCORM communication between course content and an LMS when content is launched using IE 9, 10, or 11.  This is not specific to a particular LMS. The problem occurs with Presenter 7 and 8 content. It occurs with Articluate content. It's about a security fix that was implemented with "unintended consequences". The work around has been to force users with IE9 or 10 to run in compatiblilty mode. This may work in a corporate setting with a small # of users but a long term solution needs to found. Articulate has developed a patch for new content and an "updater" that wil fix existing content.
I do not see any mention of this problem on the Presenter site. What is Adobe doing to fix this? There has to be a way to update existing content automatically as we can not afford to republish all our content.
I need help with this issue.

    Hi Bernhard,
nice to hear that we resolve the problem

Not that I've that need for points...
It's just the question why my answer (if you follow the link, my answer was: delete two lines, from which one is essential to be deleted) only "lead into the right direction"... In fact, it solved the base problem, I would claim for me
To give the technical background: If your write
    <property name="ComponentType" value="jspnative"/>
the portal runtime expects a component consisting of a native JSP; the second directive -
    <property name="JSP" value="pagelet/InitialPage.jsp"/>
    - for this case tells where to find this JSP. So if you delete the first line, <i>at least</i> the second line has no sense anymore. To clean up such a portalapp.xml, it just makes sense also to delete the second line.

  • Multi-SCORM Packager for v.5 & v.7 files

    Hi all,
I have 11 different projects that originally were created in v.5 and that I am editing now. This is the only version of Captivate that the client has and wants to maintain the files in this version. I also have v.7 on my machine. Since Multi-SCORM is now a part of v.7, can I use that to publish the .zip files that include the imsmanifest.xml files to upload to their LMS (ComplianceWire)?
    Thanks

If you're asking whether or not the Cp7 Multi-SCORM Packager can handle Cp 5.5 SCOs the answer is that it's not likely.  Cp6 introduced a totally new set of SCORM drivers from Rustici Software, the people behind the SCORM Cloud LMS and TIN CAN API.  As a result of this big change to the SCORM output, the Cp 5.5 packager could not handle Cp6 or Cp7 SCOs.  So the reverse would also seem likely.
But by all means do some testing before you write it off.

  • Course will not play in LMS until the Exit button is clicked

I'm stumped.  I've created a course that plays fine until I enable reporting in our LMS.  This is the first course we've created in Captivate 5, and I'm using the same Quiz Reporting settings that we used in Captivate 4 (that always worked).  If the course is published to the LMS without quiz reporting enabled, the course plays fine.
However, if the course is published to the LMS with Quiz Reporting enabled, then the course freezes on the first slide, and will not play until the Exit Button in the playback controls is clicked.  All of the other buttons cease to function until the exit button is clicked as well.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Just a quick update... I was able to resolve our issue.
(in case anybody else runs into this issue, maybe this will help)
We were using AICC to report back to our LMS (Saba) and it's always caused various kinds of problems with Captivate v4.  We were using some sort of work around to get the reporting to work properly.  I was trying to use the same work around we used in v4 with v5, which (I'm totally guessing here) was what was causing the problem.
Instead of using AICC, I uploaded a SCORM package to our LMS, and everythings been working great since.

I had a bad feeling that it might.  In truth I have never heard of anyone using the Adobe Multi-SCORM Packager to successfully package SCORMs created with anything other than Adobe Captivate.  So when you mentioned using Adobe Presenter my first thought was that perhaps these SCOs are not fully compatible with the Multi-SCORM Packager.  The version of the packager app is only usually ever compatible with Captivate SCOs from the same version as well (e.g. version 7 Cp SCOs with the SCORM Packager that is installed with Cp7.  I believe this is related to nuances or differences within the SCORM drivers for each Captivate version.
My suggestion is that you should probably ditch the idea of trying to use Adobe's own SCORM packager app with Presenter SCOs and instead look into using the RELOAD Editor app that can be downloaded from the internet (Google for it).

  • Publish an InDesign file as a SCORM package

What is the fastest/easiest way to take an InDesign file and publish it as a SCORM package that can be loaded to our LMS as a reference book?  I don't have/need interactions - I just want the LMS to track which users opened/viewed the file.  I need a VERY simple SCORM package.  This seems like it ought to be easy.
    Laura

I am sorry if you took offense at my response.  I tend to assume that people who post questions have already researched the forum and failed to find the answer they needed - I know I do.
The point of my response was simply that the post you referenced did not actually answer the question, which makes it less than useful.
    Basics of how SCORM "works":
You do create the content.  The content can be created in a number of programs and formats.  You then "wrap" that content into a SCORM package (which is really just a sort of special .ZIP file w/ some components that are read and and processed by an LMS) and upload it.
Publishing to SCORM from Captivate or Presenter is easy because you just tell it to do so and you can choose the various relevant options (what SCORM "things" to measure / check, which version of SCORM to use etc....)  I would have expected the same to be true of InDesign, but apparently it's not.  Since there is no one-click solution, I need to know the best path to take the content from InDesign toSCORM.  I can imagine that meaning publishing to PDF or HTML and then moving to SCORM.  I cannot imagine (especially in light of the other thread you referenced) that I am the first, much less the only, person looking for this solution.  Someone out there must know the best way to do this.
As a note, the files I need to make SCORM compliant are rather lengthy and graphic-intensive, so just publishing to PDF and then loading those the the web (even using something like the SCORM packaging utility in the eLearning suite) is not really an option.  I need a small enough file / package that it will be a good end-user experience (high enough resolution for the images to be legible but small enough file size to prevent long wait times while items load).
    Thanks,
    Laura

  • Multi-SCORM Packager Takes the SCO Title from the wrong field

I think I've just stumbled across a huge bug in the Cp7 Multi-SCORM Packager tool.  Can anyone else confirm seeing this same issue?
I have a multi-SCORM course with several modules.  Each SCO is set up in the LMS Manifest dialog with a unique ID in the SCO Identifier field (e.g. My_Course_Module_ID) and the SCO Title field underneath has the correct name of the same module (e.g. My Course Module).  When published to SCORM zip files the imsmanifest.xml files for these modules are correct.
However, I've just discovered that when packaging up a number of these SCORM modules using the Multi-SCORM Packager tool, the resulting imsmanifest.xml file it produces is NOT using the SCO Title. When uploaded to an LMS the SCO Title shown in the LMS TOC seems to be whatever had been used as the Project Title field text in the Publish dialog at the time the SCO was published.
Here's the issue: The Publish Title field ends up being used for the file names of the output.  So if you use a Project Title such as: My Course Module it will mean your HTM and SWF output file are named as My Course Module.htm and My Course Module.swf.  The problem with this is obviously that the spaces in the filenames mean you cannot use them on the web.  So, I normally use a lowercase name with underscore characters in the Project Title field (e.g. my_course_module) to ensure the output is web-compatible (e.g. my_course_module.htm, my_course_module.swf).
It doesn't matter whether you are publishing for SCORM 1.2 or 2004, the result is the same. The TOC in the LMS comes out with the wrong text string.  The issue with this bug in the Multi-SCORM Packager taking the Title attribute for the imsmanifest.xml from the wrong dialog field means that the TOC strings displayed in the LMS are incorrect.  So far I've found no way to resolve this issue other than manually modifying the combined imsmanifest.xml.
Has anyone else seen this issue?  Can Adobe confirm if this is a known bug/issue so that I know if I need to log it or not?  Is there a fix or workaround (other than manually editing each and every imsmanifest.)

    Shriyansh,
Are you using the Cp7 version of the Multi-SCORM Packager or the Cp8 version?  I'm talking about the Cp7 packager app.
I've tried this Cp7 SCORM Packager on two different machines installed a year apart and they both do the same thing.
Here is my Manifest dialog settings:
Note that what I'm expecting to see in the TOC of the LMS SCORM Player is the Title field name of the SCO (About Working in Courts in this case).  But what I'm seeing appear is actually not that field, and it's not even the SCO ID field above it.  (I tried changing that field as well to see if its value was what ended up getting written into the imsmanifest.xml for the multi-SCORM package.)
What ended up being used as the Title of the SCO in the package turned out to be the contents of the Publish dialog's Project Title field.
I verified this by changing the values in this Project Title field for a couple of SCOs, published them to zips and then compiled them into a Multi-SCORM.  THEN  I was seeing those values in the TOC of the LMS player.
Currently, when I create a Multi-SCORM Package with the Cp7 app, here's what I see in the Title tags of the Organizations block:
As you can see above, what's coming out is NOT the SCO Title tag value from the Manifest dialog, and although it looks similar, it's not the SCO ID either.  The value is in fact taken from the Publish dialog's Project Title field.
Weird.  I've never seen this issue in any previous version of the Multi-SCORM Packager tool.
Any ideas why this is getting so badly screwed up?

  • Clickbox not working in LMS

I created a clickbox in an eLearning module developed with Captivate 7 -- the clickbox is supposed to open a document at a URL.  It worked fine in preview mode within Captivate and when published as an Adobe pdf.  When I published the module as a SCORM 1.2 package and uploaded it to my LMS -- the clickbox no longer works.  Is there some specific coding or reference I need to add to make this work in my LMS?  FYI -- our LMS is SumTotalSystems Learning Maestro.
    Thanks.

OK - this a simple link to a website, right, not a .pdf form you downloaded and saved to your computer?
If so, and you've copied and pasted the link from the browser, there's really no reason for this not work, unless the address is blocked by your LMS administrative settings.
Go to https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignInForm and sign up for a free SCORM Cloud account. Once you've set up the account, you can publish and upload your project to the cloud and test it. The Cloud is the current standard for SCORM packages - any package that is functional here should (emphasize - should) run on a compliant LMS.

  • Custom Quiz with Master Widget not reporting in LMS (Captivate 5.5)

    Hello,
I have written a custom quiz with partial scoring and, in order to report answers, I am using the Master Widget. (Huge thanks to Lilybiri and Infosemantics for all of the guidance I have found in blogs and e-learning classes!)
In summary, the quiz is composed of 2 questions with 4 possible answers each.  Each of the 4 answers have a different score attached to it (i.e. answer a = 4 points; answer b = 3 points; answer c = 2 points; answer d = 1 point).   On each question slide I have added a Master Widget (using the variable representing the points the student received as a slave object).  I want the quiz to report the score for each question.   After the student has answered both question slides, they continue to a "Results" slide.  Here they view the total of their scores and get feedback on if their total is to high, too low, or in-line.  On the results page I have used the Master Widget to report the total score to the quiz.
I have uploaded this quiz as a SCORM package to both Moodle 2.3 and Blackboard 9 (we are trialing different LMS systems).  The quiz runs great in each LMS but when I try to access a report, I don't get any results:  no report of the points received for each quiz item and no score total.  In fact, in Blackboard I get a blank page:
    In Moodle, I get:
Here is what my quiz preferences look like:
I am really stuck.  I realize there are a lot of components to this process and I really need some help to find out where the problem lies.
Thank you for your time and help!!!

    Bray,
Yes the figures shown on the Quiz Results slide are important because they indicate some of your widgets or other interactive objects are not being reported to the 'official' quiz score.
You need to go back and check the objects that you want to be included in the score.  The 67% score reported by the quiz on the quiz results slide probably means that Captivate thinks you only have three objects reporting to the quiz and only two of those (two thirds or 67% in round figures) were successful.
You mentioned before that you have three Master widgets in this project.  How many of them are set to report to the quiz?  To test whether they're all reporting success, turn on Success and Failure captions for these widgets and then run through your interaction.
When using Slave Variables with the Master widgets for partial scoring, don't forget that although the Master widgets might count these variables as being interactive objects, Captivate does not.
Although the Master widget is VERY powerful, it also tends to mess with people's minds because there are just SO many ways you can configure it. If using partial scoring, check whether or not you have the option set to over-ride the widgets own assigned score with the total points score from the slave objects.  If you use this option, you need to make sure that at no time can the over-ridden score fall outside the 0-100% range that SCORM-compliant LMSs will accept.

  • SCORM packager and non-Adobe content?

Does the SCORM packager work with non-Captivate non-Adobe non-Flash SCORM content?
I have some SCORM content which was created in a completely different application and is not Flash based.
There are multiple individual lessons and I'm not looking forward to uploading them one by one into our LMS. But then I noticed the Cp SCORM packager. Can I use it to package the non-Captivate content into a single course so I only need to upload once but still be able to manage individual lessons afterwards?
Are there any known problems/bugs/'issues' with the SCORM packager?
    Thanks

    Update:
I did manage to import a multi-SCORM package using a couple of test lessons, and as far as I could tell it uploaded fine.
However, it simply created a new module within the course for each lesson, so I had to create the whole module and lesson structure in the LMS after uploading, which pretty much defeated the point of using the packager.
There seemed to be no way to organise the structure of the course within the SCORM packager before publishing.
So that makes it pretty much useless for me unfortunately.
