  • How do i look over my students results in a quiz?

this may sound confusing but im looking to be able to see what answers students put into the quiz section of thier captivate courses, as most of them are short answers, so it would be easier to give them feedback on what they had written if i myself could look over their answers? im looking at using moodle for the courses so im guessing theres a way to do it through moodle? but im still getting used to this side of captivate, im used to just doing "how to's" etc so ive never had to review a learners progress, any help is very appriciated

Have a look at this thread. https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=223257
There are several issues with this approach, especially using Captivate.
    1. You would have to store the student reponses in a SCORM table in the LMS. This normally could be done several ways, but Captivate uses the suspend_data for tracking. The comments table could also be used.
I've never used moodle, but I'm sure is has reports that will allow you to see learner data, such as is available in Blackboard.
    2. How would a student receive completion or a passing grade for the module if they are waiting for you to grade it?
    3. This really is a blended solution and is not really SCORM compliant.
    4. If you really wanted to make this work you would most likely have to use you own SCORM files and make all of the calls through javascript.

  • LSO-External Online Tests

    Hi,
Can we import Extenal Suppliers Online Tests into SAP-LSO through Authoring Tool? If yes Please tell me the procedure.
    Regards,
    Sushma

    Sushma,
You CAN import 3rd party created tests into the LSO using the Authoring Tool.  There are a number of SCORM conformant products and vendors that will output a SCORM package for you to import.  Such a test can be added to a course as a separate SCO or be standalone.
Here are some SCORM conformant tools for test creation:
       Articulate Quizmaker
       Adobe Captivate
The issues come up when running reports on the test data.  Since SCORM data is placed into SCORM tables in the LSO, the delivered reports for test will not work as expected.  Custom reporting is an effective way to get the test result data you will need.
Import a test is just like importing any other SCORM content in AE.

  • Published content as SCORM 1.3 (2004) - view Table of Contents?

I've published some UPK content (A module containing 13 topics) created in 3.6.1 as SCORM 1.3 (2004).
I have zipped up the content in the Publishing Content > LMS folder so that the imsmanifest file is in the root of the .zip. I have uploaded this file into an LMS (Activate LMS) but when I then launch the content from the LMS I do not see the TOC page and can only complete the first topic in the module. When I complete this Topic I can't then exit it (apart from closing the entire window) and this then doesn't update the module as being started.
The URL that the LMS is loading points only to the topic that does load.
Why is this and how can I configure the content so that the LMS points to the TOC page and not just a single topic.
    Thanks,
    Greg

The best way to import from my experience into an LMS is to import at 1.2. do not use the zip file. unzip the file to your LMS server, then import the .xml 1.2 manifest file.
if you are using 11.0. select show navigation buttons. This shows the entire structure of my file.

  • Table of Contents navigation question in Captivate 5.5

Hi - I'm a fairly new user of Captivate (5.5.), and hope that someone can answer this question. I'm trying to set up a table of contents with navigation that will not let users go to slides that they have not yet viewed, but still enable users who have left and re-entered a course go back to any previous slide that they've viewed. Here are some details:
    * I'm publishing the course using the SCORM 2004 setting, and testing it in SCORM Cloud and our LMS (Cornerstone)
    * The table of contents navigation is set only to "Navigate visited slides only."
    * After reading as many of the related posts as I could find on this forum, I've been able to get bookmarking to work - that is, the course will take the user back to where he or she left off. And by using the InfoSemantics TicTOC widget, when a user returns to the course, all previously viewed slides are checked off in the table of contents.
    * However, whatever I've tried, a user who leaves and goes back into a course can only navigate back to the first slide, not to any of the other slides he or she already viewed. I'd like for our users to be able to go back to any previous slide they viewed (for example, to review the section just before the one where they left off, or to review any part of the course for reference after completing it).
Is there a combination of settings, or a widget somewhere, that will let you both limit forward navigation to visited slides only, while still allowing users to go back to any previously viewed slide after exiting and re-entering a course? And this would need to work in an LMS.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

I did have the self-paced learning option checked, so I unchecked it. I did not have "user must past quiz" as required (it's set as optional). I tried adding an interactive button to the first slide and giving it a score. But after re-publishing, I still can only go back to the first slide (not any previously viewed slide) if I stop and re-enter the course. Here are the settings:
    Quiz Reporting:
    Manifest:
    LMS Customization:
    Quiz Settings:
    Quiz Pass/Fail:
Settings for the interactive object on the first slide:
Settings for the "quiz" on the last slide:
Thanks so much for helping me with this.

  • Navigating Table of Contents with Module Reviews and Knowledge Checks

I have been using 5.5 for at least 3 months without issue.
My current course is being published SCORM 1.2 to SumTotal LMS, but that is not relevant at this time.
I have 3 modules in the course (3 module reviews and sets of knowledge check questions).
Each set of knowledge check questions are 3 random questions from respective quiz pools.
The final quiz is the only one with weighted values that report to the LMS.
    Problem...
When you click past the Module Review (use Module Review 2) and take the knowledge check questions, and then click that Module Review 2 page via the Table of Contents, the Next and Back buttons do not work and everything freezes.
This even happens when in preview mode in Captivate, and I don't even have to post to LMS.
    Help, please!

I have a specific style set up (similary to body text) to dress the table of contents at 11pt. Overset text was my thought too! but its actually just an empty paragraph with a title. I've attached an image to help explain.

  • Oracle iLearning - SCORM content data

    Hi,
we are using CourseLab for creating courses and tests and export them into SCORM 2004. What data is passed and saved to the Oracle iLearning database from the SCORM 2004 content? Are the questions and answers of the test being saved? What are the tables to look for? Does the description of Oracle ilearning DB tables exist somewhere?
    Thank You,
    Vaida

That's not quite true Anders :)
Assuming the content is using cmi interactions, the user's responses to questions in a scorm 2004 quiz are stored on the interaction table/view.
Here's an example custom report sql you can use to view interaction data for a given content object (the content object id is the parameter)
    select
    a.id attemptid,
    a.create_date attempt_date,
    u.username,
    rco.title,
    int.identifier,
    int.description question,
    decode(int.type,
    'T','True/False',
    'C','Multiple Choice',
    'F', 'Fill in the Blank',
    'S','Put in sequence order',
    'M', 'Matching',
    'L', 'Likert Scale'
    ) question_type,
    int.learner_response learner_answer,
    case
when int.result = 'N' then 'No correct answer, survey question'
    else
    int_resp.pattern
    end
    correct_answer,
    decode(int.result,
    'C', 'Correct',
    'I','Incorrect',
    'N','Not Evaluated') is_correct,
    ROUND(int.latency,0) time_spent_on_question_secs
    from
    users u,
    attempt a,
    content_object rco,
    interaction int,
    interaction_response int_resp
    where
    a.user_id = u.id and
    a.content_object_id = rco.id and
    int.attempt_id = a.id and
    int_resp.interaction_id = int.id and
    rco.id = &rcoid
    order by int.create_date

  • Problem capturing user imput using SCORM

Hello, I'm working on a little content management
application, using SCORM to capture the user interaction.
But, with content generated using Captivate, for Matching
questions, I'm getting something like:0[.]A[,]2[.]C[,]1[.]B and for
Multiple selection D[,]B[,]A. I'm talking about the Correct
Response Field, and User Response Field.
This strings are correctly formatted, but I don't have the
original text strings from the content, it is very difficult, to
present the result in a clear way without this information.
Somebody knows if there is a way to get this information from
captivate contents using SCORM? I want to get something like "The
text of the first option[,]The text of the third option[,]The text
    of the last option"
Or, there is a way to get this information from a content
    package?
    Thanks
    Javier

Hi Bradley, thanks for the response.
This is the user response field captured directly from a
content generated with other SCORM compliant content composing
    tool: "This_is_a_correct_answer[,]This_is_another_correct_answer".
SCORM support this kind of interaction.
I know that maybe for a larger software (than the one we are
developing) could be best work like you said, storing the Ids, and
then matching the tables to build the report. But I'm trying to
avoid retyping, like you said, this lookup table must be manually
maintained, then the content developer must develop his content and
then load all the Ids in my system retyping all the texts... if
there is no other solution... ok... but if we can get the text, or
build the lookup table automatically (some way), it will be great.

  • SCORM Tracking

    Hi All
I'm new to the Forum and relatively new to Captivate 4.
My question is this, how do I send a 'Pass mark" to the LMS without using Quiz Questions.
E.g. Once a learner has completed a software simulation Captivate alerts the LMS that the learner has passed / completed the training.
I have published the simulation a SCORM 1.2 package and have tried various 'Report Status" configurations but alas the LMS does not appear to receive any data.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Chris

    Hi again
Hmmm, it would seem the playing field has suddenly transmogrofied from the original question!
You did ask how things might work without resorting to quiz questions, no?
As I intimated in my first reply, Buttons and Click Boxes may have scoring enabled. So... you could concoct an assessment that has no quiz questions at all. Only Click Boxes and Buttons and maybe even Text Entry Boxes. All of these may be scored. You could then design it so things have to be dealt with in a specific manner in order to pass. Only by following the path you designate as being correct would they pass.
Unfortunately, this falls into the class of the ever present situation. How to truly test to see if someone really knows something. And I'm not sure any test created to date is totally able to do that. After all, a person may be able to spout all the right answers and still be basically clueless about how to make something actually work in the real world. I compare it to using a table saw or a compound miter saw. Sure, one can make perfect cuts. You might test for that. But are they also able to create a beautiful and well crafted cabinet just because they can make perfect cuts?
    Maybe, maybe not.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to create a TOC for my captivate scorm

    Hi,
I am trying to use Captivate 2 to convert a 50 slide
powerpoint presentation into a V1.2 SCORM object .
The object opens when I publish and upload to my site, but it
only shows 1 entry (for the 1st slide) in the table of contents.
I guess the ppt is OK - I get a 50 entry TOC when I publish
the ppt as a webfile, so I guess I need to set a parameter in
Captivate 2 before I publish my Scorm in Captivate.
I cant see anything to set (but as a real novice, its quite
possible that Im missing something obvious?)
Can someone please help out - Im real stuck at the moment.,
    Thanks
    Martin

I am using Captivate 2 and created a very nice main menu just
using buttons with a Jump to Slide option set for each. This allows
me to create a topic menu to chunk my course into smaller, more
manageable pieces. One thing, though, is that at the end of each
topic, I have a RETURN TO MENU button on the slide for the user to
click - or - he/she can just click the page forward button and go
directly into the next topic w/o returning to the menu. This seems
to work but there is not indication on the main menu that the topic
has been completed (I used to do this in Authorware using
    scripting).

  • OLM SCORM Content Queries

    Hi,
I have a SCORM authored course built using Captivate, this course also has an embedded test. Kindly answer the following queries (I do not know how to create scorm compliant content, I am just coordinating with the client's content provider):
1- Can we make the course status to be incompleted/fail if the learner fails the test, at the moment when the learner completes the course and the embedded test (whether pass or fails) OLM updates the course status to be completed ?
2- Does the OLM keep scores of the SCORM authored test, if yes, where does it stores such test results/scores?
3- Can we specify the number of attempts and Can we store test scores for each learner's attempt?
    Thanks & Regards
    Bilal Khan

    Hi Bilal,
    1. Assuming the content is passing a score to the LMS, if you set a mastery score in OLM for the learning object metadata, it will change the status to Pass/Fail depending on the learner's score vs the mastery score
    2. OLM stores the scores on each attempt on the OTA_ATTEMPTS table. Individual questions/responses of a learner's interaction with a test are not stored
    3. Specify number of attempts - This can only be done with assessments built within the OLM assessment tool. There are ways to accomplish something similar within the content itself by storing cmi.suspend data that could then be used by the content to determine how many attempts the user has had and locks them out, but would need to be specilalized/configured within the content itself. Test scores for each attempt, see #2

  • LSO - SCORM

We are having problems with Learning Solution and scorm courses (imported through LSO-AE). When we deploy them as Web-Based Training we are unable to receive any information about Test results. Test is embeded inside a WBT, using SCORM API it saves results to LMS (cmi.core.score_raw, max score and min score). We need to be able to display these results on the course information screen (learning progress) as at least "Achieved percentage". Feedback like this is provided for "Online Test" but we are unable to use scorm courses as online test. In sap note 746917 point 12 there is information that LSO "doesn't seem to care" to much about this data.
Anybody has any idea for a workaround or how to modify pages to display that data?

    Pascale,
What patch level are you for Content Player?  I believe you must have implemented Support Package level 15 for LSO 300 Content Player  (see Note 992086) in order for the TAC tables to properly populate.
    Summary
    Symptom
This note solves errors in the SAP Learning Solution LSOCP 300 component.
    Other terms
SAP Learning Solution, Content Player, Enterprise Learning, eLearning
    Reason and Prerequisites
When you log off from the Content Player, the Internet Explorer security popup no longer appears when you use https.
<b>The system now also stores the results of the individual responses for the introduction, final tests, and online tests.
Problems that previously occurred when you store test results are resolved.</b>You now also have the option to use shorter URLs. For more information, see Note 1006643.
    Please award points if helpful.
    Solution
To update an existing installation of the component,
start the SDM (Software Deployment Manager) in the J2EE and
"deploy" the .SCA file from the SAP Service Marketplace.

  • Making Projects Resizable in SCORM

    Hi There,
I've built a series of modules in Cap3. We've done most of
our testing using the HTML output. I have been editing the HTML to
make the height and width of the flash object 100%. This makes the
project auto-resize so that it will fit the screen whatever size
    you make the browser window.
Now we have come to publish in SCORM in order to upload these
to the LMS. The issue I have is that the auto-resize doesn't work.
In fact the page is blank when you launch the scorm course. I
believe it has something to do with the JavaScript in the HTML file
that gets produced but unfortunately I am no JavaScript expert by
    any stretch of the imagination.
If anyone has any idea what I need to add to make this work I
    would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Craig

    Sorry for the confusion.
I only mentioned the LMS once in my original post and that
was only to reference that we were getting ready to upload the
    course to it.
    Here's what happens:
I publish my course using the normal HTML output (no
reporting). I open the htm file that gets created and change the
height and width of the flash object from 800*600 to 100%. Then
when I open the course in IE it fills the browser window. When I
resize the browser the course resizes too. This is fantastic as
some of the end users have tiny laptops (and apparantly super
eyesight) and others have huge screens (and obviously terrible
eyesight). Everyone is happy as the course will fit the screen no
matter what size their browser window is.
    The problem:
We want the course to report to an LMS that a user has
completed it. So in Captivate I set reporting to SCORM 1.2, i set
the appropriate flags etc. (this aspect of it works perfectly) I
publish the course as normal. Now when I open the htm file it is
full of JavaScript that launches the SCORM API. At the bottom of
the file is the Flash object that launches the .swf. Now when I
change the size of the object from 800*600 to 100% it doesn't work.
I double click on the htm file - blank screen, I open it in Reload
SCORM player - blank screen. I upload it to the LMS - blank screen.
I notice in the code that it wraps the Flash object in a HTML
table, so i edited the table so that it has a width of 100%, then
edited the Flash object and set the width to 100% but left the
height at 600. This displayed the course. Then if I went back and
changed the height to 100% the course vanished!
I'm sure there is a realy easy fix for this but I don't know
enough about JS and HTML to figure it out.
    Thanks

  • Optional CMI elements for SCORM 1.2

I've been working on some e-learning training adding necessary SCORM coding for a designer. At first, the modules were to run under Moodle but now it seems that OLM is to be used. Having never used this before and not yet having access to the LMS, I'm trying to find some answers to what are probably daft questions.
    1. The client keeps referring to the LMS as Oracle, but there appears to be iLearning and OLM - are these different?
    2. I know that OLM is SCORM 1.2 compliant, but the modules have been created use the optional cmi.objective elements and I cannot find any technical specification that states whether these elements and / or other optional elements are available.
    Regards,
    Mack

    1. Yes. iLearning is a standalone application separate from the Oracle eBusiness Suite that integrates with other systems via webservices. Oracle Learning Management (OLM) is a native Oracle eBusiness Suite Product that is integrated module of the Oracle HR Suite of products (shared tables etc)
    2. Oracle Learning Management supports the optional SCORM 1.2 objectives elements. The "Deploying e-Learning Content on Oracle Learning Management" white paper, available on My Oracle Support, discusses this and other relevant items.

  • Tracking user attempts on Scorm compliant materials

    Hi all
We have a requirement to record the score for each attempt a user makes on Scorm compliant materials - how can we do this?  Currently we have Scorm 1.2 adapters in place and can play these materials and record just the latest score in OLM but not historic attempts.  Can anyone advise if this is possible and how to do it?  We are using 12.1.3.
    Regards
    Pip

The score for each attempt is recorded in the LMS on the attempts table, but only the last failing or first passing score is visible to the learner/admin. Reports can be used to gain access to this attempt specific data
