Scosche passport causing hissing

I've used the Scosche Passport charging adapter in my car (2009 Infiniti) because later versions of iPhone and iPod use different charging pins in the 30 pin connector.  My Infiniti follows older parameters.  This works fine for my iPod and iPhone 3GS but not for my iPhone 4S. When connected in my car with the Passport between the iPod cable and the iPhone 4S, there is hissing and static noise on iPod music.  Turning off wifi, bluetooth, etc, has not effect.  Airplane mode has no effect. Hard reset of iPhone does not clear problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Ditto to the problem - but it is not isolated to the 4S, it is just loudest with the 4s. I had the same hissing sound with my 3rd Generation iPod touch - but it was much softer and only heard when I needed to turn up the volume for certain podcasts - the pitch and the pattern of the hiss were the same.
I just checked three Scosche chargers - I had one for each car and just bought a 3rd when I thought the hissing sound was because the second one broke. All three produced the hissing sound.
I checked three different iPods - I tried my iPod nano (which yes, I now have to return) and no hissing. iPod Touch 3rd gen - hissing, but much softer. iPod touch - loud hissing.
I checked three different stereos - two car stereos - both had the hissing sound. I also checked an old small clock radio that had an iPod adapter - no hissing sound. So it looks like the hissing is only with certain types of stereso.
I will call the Scosche company tomorrow and see what they say. But looks like I will be purchasing the CableJive DockStubz.

  • Does scosche passPORT support iphone 4s?

I just bought a new truck, and sadly discovered that the iPod interface/adapter does not charge my iPhone 4s while its playing audio.  I've read some mixed reviews online about the scosche passport adapter, but nobody specifically mentioned using it with the 4s.  Anybody know if it's compatible?  Thanks.

Pretty much any earphone/headphone with a 3.5 mm jack will work on an iPhone. Why would you think they wouldn't?

  • Hiss while playing lossless file

Hi, when I'm playing some lossless files (songs) I can hear some hiss coming from my speakers. It doesn't happen with the same songs in 320 mp3 tho. So is it just files (particular lossless format) that cause hiss or it is a problem with the speakers?
    Thanks

you're hearing either the needle on the record or the lo-fi recording of analog multitrack reel to reel tape.
    Enjoy.

  • 2nd gen touch not playing in car

I just recently upgraded to a 2nd gen ipod touch after my 1st gen died. I've been using an Alpine M-bus to iPod cable in my car to play, and it worked great with my 1st gen. However, it wasn't working with my new one and so I bought the Scosche Passport. It now charges my iPod, but it is still only playing music through the built-in speakers. How do I get it to play through the stereo?

Please, I need this answered soon or else I can't return the PassPort if it doesn't work.

  • No sound output from Maxell iPod dock

Just purchased a Silver 8GB Nano, Maxell iPod dock, and the Scosche PassPort/Adapter for 5th generation iPods, all as a gift set. The Maxell dock now charges the Nano with the Scosche adapter, but there is no music signal out of the dock's 3.5mm jack. In fact, the Nano's internal speaker remains on while sitting on the dock, charging.
I have reset the device many times using center + menu, with no changes.
Headphones plugged into the Nano's 3.5mm jack work perfectly, but no output from the Maxell dock.
Anyone used this dock, with or without a 5th gen Nano, or have any tips to fix this? I am still waiting on a reply from Maxell via email, but I doubt that will happen until next week...

I have the same problem with a 5th Generation iPod on a Jensen JiMS-195 Universal Docking Station for iPod. The sound is great using the Auxiliary jack, but I only get sound through the internal iPod speakers when it's docked. I have checked the Apple site and the Jensen site, but no luck.
Is there some setting on the iPod to change this behavior or is the dock the problem? Any response would be welcome.

  • Male 30 pin to female 30 pin extension cable

Does anyone know who makes a male 30 pin to female 30 pin extension cable or converter. Can't find one online and the reps at the Apple store were not helpful. I can't attach any accessories that need to be flush with the 60g IPod (such as the FM Transmitter, docking station) without taking it out of the case which increases the chance of scatching it.
    Thx

  • Nano 7G + MINI Cooper 2006 = No charging?

I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S with the standard (circa 2006) MINI/BMW IPOD G3 interface kit, so there's a 30pin iPod docking connector in the glovebox. My trusty iPod 4G Photo (60GB) gave up the ghost, so I got a 7G Nano to replace it, along with the Apple 30pin-to-Thunderbolt adapter, so it could connect to the MINI interface.
The MINI head end will (usually) recognize the Nano (oddly, it will show up somtimes as CD7, and I have to manually re-start the Nano everytime I start the car), but it's definitely not charging it.
Am I doing something wrong, or did I buy the wrong thing? I just tested my iPhone 4S and when connected to the MINI adapter, it noted something along the lines of "this accessory will not charge this device." The Nano 7G doesn't say as much, but it's clear it's not charging it.
    Help?

  • Help! with jeep / mopar integration kit

Okay, so i got my jeep dealer to install the mopar ipod integration kit, and it works with my 30g video, sort of--it plays, and displays the names of the songs on the factory RBQ radio, but when i try to display the playlists, albums, or artists, the screen says "updating" and does not change and all the controls are frozen.
I tried it with a friend's 60g, and it works fine--it displays his playlists, etc. and lets me navigate through them. I checked his, and we have the same software versions on the ipod and itunes, and we have the same settings all the way through. I've tried resetting my 30g, but just don't know what else to do because it works fine with his, but not mine. Any suggestions???

If your 4g is recognised by the system but not charging then purchase a passport. Apple do one and you can easily purchase a Scosche passport from Amazon. This should solve the problem.

  • Can Itouch be charged and fully functional with Pioneer AVIC-Z3 auto stereo

I am considering getting the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 navigation/stereo Head in my car. I am told that the Pioneer unit will not charge an Itouch that has higher than version 1.15 because of charging voltages/pin changes. I was also told that a Scosche Passport will not solve this problem with the Pioneer systems.
1- Pioneer reps told me that if my Itouch has version 1.15 it will charge and have full functionality with the Pioneer Z3 as that was when the Z3 was designed for. My Itouch has version 2.2 I believe. Can I "downdate" to version 1.15 and how?
Anyone have any experience and advice with this matter. This may be a deal breaker.
    Thank you.
    Don

Pioneer reps told me that if my Itouch has version 1.15
It's NOT the software version you are running that counts! First generation touches support both FireWire and USB charging; Second generation touches charge only with USB.
The allowable FireWire voltage range is something like 8 volts to 36 volts so auto charger manufactures didn't have to do anything to use the 12 volts a car has.
Second generation touch charging support requires the manufacturers add a regulated power supply to furnish the USB 5.0 volts.

  • Aftermarket car charger not working with iPhone 4

I have and aftermarket input in my 2005 Honda Odyssey. It includes a 30-pin connector which provides the line level input and a charging to an ipod. I have been using just fine with my 2nd gen ipod and wife's 2g iPod Touch with no problem. I just bought a new iPhone 4 last week and plug it in and get the message "this accessory is not optimized for this device" "charging is not supported". Is this just a software block or is the power requirements that much different with the iPhone. The input works and the iPhone even respond to a pause signal when I shut off the car (input device pauses your ipod when you shut off the car), but no charging. I hate to think I have to shell out another $50-60 for a new input for my car. Any thoughts?
I can't remember the name of the input device. I think it might be PIE.
    Thanks

"Scosche Passport - it's a quality product that solves your problem.... "
Let me stop you right there. The scosche passport WAS a good product. I purchased one last year at the apple store when I was making a 9 hour trip up north and needed to charge my iPhone 3GS on the way. It was a brilliant product, all the way up to the launch of iOS 4.
I don't know HOW Apple botched this update, but the fact that I am now using the same hardware (the 3GS), attached to the same scosche adapter in my car, and a software update to 4.0 has broken my ability to charge. It is absolutely insane.
Needless to say I'm furious. I'll be ringing Apple on Tuesday, as they're not signing 3.1.3 anymore, so I can't even go back to a chargable phone.

  • Help plz!!!! iPod touch isn't compatible with speakers!!

My new iPod touch says that it isn't compatible with my iHome. But, when I went to the Apple store, the guy told me that there was a converter I could buy that would fix this. But then I went to Best Buy, and the guy told me something completely different. So now I am confused. Is there a converter that will let me play and charge my iPod in my iHome and what is it called exactly? I want to make usre that if I buy something that I buy the right converter.

I believe the Scosche PassPORT is what you are looking for. I remember finding it a couple weeks ago as I am wanting to add iPod support to my Kenwood stereo, and Cr_ut_ch_field  said that in order to charge my 3rd Gen Touch, I'd need this.
